VERY CLEAR AND FACTUAL - HAS A GOOD SPEAKING STYLE - EASY TO DO WELL IF YOU ARE MATURE AND SIT IN THE FRONT AS I DID. USUALLY PROF. FARLEY IS IN HIGH DEMAND.
Good Prof. Knows his stuff, and makes class very interesting. Just DON'T BE LATE!!!!
He is extremely knowledgable about his field. He has traveled and lived throughout the area. To succeed in his class attendence is manditory and he does not accept late students into the room. If you actually show up the book becose a waste of money
One of the best teacher's I've ever had. He knows his subject. Watching him give a lecture makes it apparent that he thoroughly enjoys himself during class and loves what he does. Full of knowledge and experience. Easy teacher if you study hard.
Absolutely terrible.
Really poor.
Very informative, better than any book!
Mr. Farley is a very good instructor. He makes history come alive and it's easy to remember. If you follow the study guide and attend class and make an effort to study, you should be able to make a decent grade for the class and learn something.
Awesome, easygoing professor. Best teacher at IRCC.
Mr. Farley is one of those strict, yet easy going teachers. He is one of the few who pushes his students to do well in his class. Mr. Farley had the ability to make boring parts of history fun!
He's an AWESOME teacher. He makes history really interesting. His tests are very fair. If you know the study guide, you'll do great on the tests.
Really great teacher. He is funny and his class is fun! I have never had a history class that is interesting until I had him. His tests are fair, just study. He is really one of the best teachers at IRCC.
REALLY AWESOME! VERY INTERESTING AND FUN. THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD AT IRCC.
Farley is a very animated teacher. He's kind of dry but when he gets into what he's talking about he is entrancing. He makes History really intersting and has a lot of fascinating info. VERY knowledgable and a good all around teacher.
Extremely animated, gives very vivid lectures, makes even boring topics interesting. I mean, he even made the early explorers fun to hear about. Just study everything that is on the review sheets and you'll be fine. Got an A in 1002 and a B in 1001.
Prof Farley is an incredible. I really don't think I can add anything that hasn't already been posted about him. Everything needed to study for his tests is in his lectures and on his study guide's. I didn't even need the textbook. Be warned though, he ALWAYS has 1 or 2 "tricky" questions on his tests.
Hated history...actually made it interesting. awesome teacher, recommended to all.
Prof.Farley was GREAT!!! he is soooo ALive and loves History makes you wanna stay awake and listen he cares about it and wants you to love it to!!! He knos alot and i diffetly would say I would take him again..actually I am this semester for Origins he's great ..his tests are soso but Study youll do great!! Promise!
i think its stupid to grade spelling and grammar so heavily on a history essay...
Just study and you get a good grade. Easy A. Just don't be late for class.
Great
People say there are easier teachers, and indeed you do need to study for his tests since he has multiple choice and two short answers/small essay tests, however, he gives you good notes and amazing lectures and you don't even need the book. Really an amazing instructor, the best at IRCC that I have had. Very willing to help too!

This guy is straight up cool. Great at what he does. He has alot of experience in his life so he already has things planned out. He never picks sides which all teachers should do. And he has great presentations. Seriously if u goto history and you don
Prof. Farley actually makes Western Civ interesting; let's face it, it's not. I would take him for any history class that I could :)
Good teacher-very into what he teaches...a lil boring sometime cuz he lectures..but definitely a cool teacher:)
Don't take this class in the morning if your not a morning person.
Very interesting teacher i would recommend him to everyone! Just take the notes and pay attention to him in class.
The best professor I have had at ircc! Pay attetion in class, don't be late,& take notes, if u do this u will do great. He is very interesting and cares about his students.
This class is hard if you do not pay attention. However, DO NOT BUY A BOOK!!! All you need is to take notes in class. His tests are based on the class lectures and the book is a waste of money.
I would go back to his class just for fun! Great lectures!
4th class with him. Makes the most boring topics beyond interesting. If you live in Ft. Pierce, make the drive to Stuart to have his class if you want an A. Just copy the powerpoints, don't get distracted by his tangents (just sit back and enjoy those!).
History was always a great trouble throughout my previous education years. Prof. Farley made the impossible become possible. My grades were great. His style is unique and very enjoyable. I loved being his student and listening to him. His class was like watching a documentary.
I enjoyed Professor Farley's class alot. He was extremly interesting and told great stories. As long as you paid attention in class he didn't give you a hard time. His tests were fairly easy if you knew the material. I found going over the study guides to be really helpful.

Prof. Farley is awesome. He makes history VERY interesting. As long as you pay attention in class, and write down the powerpoint notes, you should get an A. He is really great.
a little boring. not too difficult tho, 10% of each quiz is based on group performance. the only thing is his notes aren't in full sentences. must know maps. he is very very verryyy strict on time & leaving the class. DO NOT be late or leave, even for the bathroom, he'll have a heart attack. very intelligent & informative teacher
Not interested in history before taking this class. Got an A! Take good notes or record class, long lectures. Must study class notes and study guide. Not flexible at all but amazing teacher.
he is an excellent teacher really shows his enthusiam for subject in lecture that's why I took him twice
I just finished my third semester with him, and hope to take him again. He is the very best teacher. He makes class absolutely fascinating. If you just follow the study guide and come to class and write down all the powerpoints, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A.
Awesome teacher. Loves teaching and you can tell by the way he gets so into his teaching. Tests are a tad hard but he is a very fair grader. If you get the essays right but multiple choice wrong he will give you leeway. He cares more if you show an interest and attempted to study then actual test grades. Very cool and informative teacher
Cannot show up late for class, cannot leave to go to the restroom, and absolutely cannot leave early: he will count that as an absence and it will hurt your overall grade. I took his 3hr class and he will lecture you for the entire three hours with a 8 min. break. His tests are very hard. you need to study very hard to get a passing grade.
Thinks that every word that comes out of his mouth is gold. Freaks out if you have to use to restroom when its not the 5 min break time. Tests are impossible, no amount of studying will help. Many students had to drop the class because they are failing.
Great teacher, easy class. All you have to do is come to class and write notes from slides! No book needed, tests are exactly from notes.
Farley is awesome!! I have no idea why he wouldnt have a chili pepper!?! He loves teaching and it shows. The test are hard but they exactly from the notes. You just need a desire to come to class and learn then you will excell in his class! Highly reccomend him, especially if you are not interested in History. He will make it interesting for u.
I had to constantly study for this class, but i have learned so much. The Quizes are hard, and the Final is Cumulative. But I took him again this semester because I got a B. He is the smartest person ever when it comes to history. He is like an open history book.
I learned a lot of cool things from him. For example, did you know that when the South Vietnamese govt. collapsed, their ex-vice president came to the USA and ran a convenience store in South Central LA until he died last year?
Highly recommended!! Has a lot of information to share! Come to class on time, take down notes, and use the study guide. Tests are mutiple choice and easy as long as you study. One thing that helped me out is that I always recopied my notes.
Farley's history courses are extremely easy. I hardly studied at all and I made 100's on almost all my exams. However, he is an extremely prejudiced man. Don't his course if you can't stand to hear him laugh at religion or assert his opinions on you. Some of what he says is wrong or extremely inaccurate, and he's too proud to do his research.
if you have any interest in history than just listening and studying notes will allow you to pass his class. Mr. Farley makes many of historical facts interesting so the class is not painful by any means(in my opinion) note; study chapter maps!
When he teaches, you can tell he gets giddy sometimes when he talks about historical events. It's kind of dorky, but at the same time, it means he loves what he does. This is a great teacher. I've honestly never been so interested in history until his class. Just don't come late... and pee before you come (he doesn't let you leave.)
BEST HISTORY TEACHER AROUND PERIOD.
best history teacher i ever had! deff. recommend him. lectures were interesting and kept me awake the entire class study the notes and read the book easy A! i plan on taking him again for another class
very good teacher!! really makes class exciting! you dont need the book. I would use a tape recorder helps out a lot. dont skip a day or you will do bad on the test. as long as you show up and study the notes you should pass the class.
He is a really good teacher. he makes class exciting to go to. it was my favorite class. the attendance is not mandatory but if you dont go you will get lost. have a tape recorder helps and make sure to write side notes when he goes over his notes. he drops your lowest test score and as long as you show and study you will pass.
Great professor. strays off topic a lot, but fun to hear his stories. you often learn more from him than from the actual history lessons.
AWESOME. Goes of topic way too often but he knows his stuff. He helps you understand WHY everything happens and his lectures are extremely interesting.
I really enjoyed Mr. Farley. He gives you plenty of opportunities to get a good grade. There's plenty of extra credit to do, and he's always willing to answer any of your questions, both in class and via e-mail. He goes on rabbit trails a lot. Sticks to his notes for the quizzes. Overall, I highly recommend him. Taking him again next semester.
Mr. Farley was ver interesting. He can be a bit intimidating sometimes but he sure knows how to tell history to make it interesting. I wish I had a history teacher like him in High school. Definately GET A TAPE RECORDER! Mine helped so much and make sure you know your map. Lots of xtra credit and an optional paper that counts as a test.
Amazing teacher!! offers lots of extra credit! History is my worst subject and I had a 95 in his class. I got 80's on all his test and didnt have to take the final because I had so much extra credit! I would take him for all History classes!
Amazing teacher, keeps class interesting, won't let you take breaks, class goes by very fast, amazing side stories, nearly impossible to fail class unless you don't try, tests come from notes, don't ever use the book, i recommend for history classes that you need, VERY VERY much extra credit
great teacher, very boring, he loves to talk and pay attention test comes directly from notes
Best History Professor in the world kept me entertained while learning history his class is easy and cool and he gives a lot of exttra credits
Farley is an interesting teacher IF you like history. i personally hated his class. he rambles on about himself the whole time and then doesnt leave enough time to learn the material that's on the test. Every test is pushed back later than the date assigned and some material on the test was NOT in the notes. And forget about going to the bathroom!
Love love love farley..interesting and fun! DO NOT BUY THE BOOK tests come directly from notes...he drops your lowest quiz score so theres a good chance of an A
He's a wonderful instructor, take him, you need to study but he makes his lectures and history come to live. I enjoyed every minute of his class. And the best thing is that he gives you a study guide that is extremely useful for the quizzes.
IN LOVE WITH FARLEY! Most entertaining teacher, looked forward to every class! Sit in the front row and you may get picked on but all in good fun :) Taking him again next semester! Dont buy the book!!! everything comes from notes. DONT MISS A CLASS AND DONT BE LATE! i dont know why youd want to miss class anyway, he's AWESOME!
he's a fun guy to listen to. He makes something that is sooooo boring sound interesting.
I love Mr. Farley. He makes everything interesting and you WANT to come to class. His tests are very easy if you study and he works hard to make sure you grasp the material. He is very interactive and amazing. Just make sure you don't come late! I totally want to grow up to be just like him.
Very intelligent and knows his stuff! Offers tons of extra credit that is added to your comprehensive final. Must attend class to pass and have to study to do well. Great teacher, I worked hard and got a B...Highly recommended if you want a challenge
Great Teacher! When he talks you can really tell he knows his stuff. History is made fun in his class. If you attend class and pay attention and follow his study guides, you will succeed. He also offers a lot of extra credit.
this class was terrible professor thinks he is all that talks about things that have nothing to do with whats on the quizes does not use the book and when you ask questons he makes you feel like an idiot. i tried everything in this class and pulled an c if you know history like the back of your hand or if you have alot of extra time in the day for
Great History professor. Best one I've ever had, he really knows what he's talking about, and tells it like a story. Other teachers can be boring, but Farley makes it interesting, and the material really stands out because of it. Highly recommended. I'm planning on taking all the classes I can with him.
Doctor Farley is one of the best Professors at Indian River State College. If you want to be enlightened-then take Dr. Farley. If you love real life stories as part of the curriculm-take Dr. Farley. If you want to learn History-take Dr. Farley. If you want to goof off-take someone else. This class was a beautiful experience. This guy was awesome!!
Mr. Farley was such a great teacher. I took all the EUH classes and looking forward to the WOH class. You need to be in class on time and don't count on leaving. He really does make everything interesting and tries to include the class by asking questions and making jokes. He has you take an individual test(90%) then a group test(10%). great teach!
very fair teacher, knows his stuff. record lectures, read notes , do the x credit = easy A. will not let you in class late, will not end class early. crystal clear speaking voice. i will take him again.
Great teacher, Highly recommend!! You don't need the book (but do read it) because he is so interesting I could really grasp what he was teaching. Do the extra credit, it got me an A. It's really hard to sit through a 2 1/2 hour class in the summer but not with him, never got boring.
GREAT TEACHER! Gives good lectures, great notes. SO much extra credit. You DO HAVE TO STUDY though. It's not a slack class. Don't really need the book, but often he would run out of time to go over some topics, so have it just incase. Allows group quizzing after individual quiz to help increase grade. Definitely would take him again!
He is a great teacher. Very easy to get a high A and is actually interesting to listen to.
This professor is amazing! I loved his class, and enjoyed going to his class. The material covered is all in his notes. He is very easy to talk to, and understanding. Make sure you use his study guide and you pay attention in class; then you will sure be able to achieve an A. I would love to take this professor again!
Great lecturer! Presents all info needed in simplistic form (I didn't buy the book. He runs out of time rarely and gives students a general outline for remainder of unit, so just google the facts) and provides comprehensive study guide. I cram the night before each test - recopying notes and making flash cards of study guide terms and I'm acing it.
Ugh..I dropped this class as fast as I could..I truly don't understand why ppl rate him so high other than his xtra credit helps ppl pass the class, but really?!? I guess I just didn't like what he had to say!
He is the best teacher...study the notes, do some extra credit easy A! His test questions come from the notes EXAACTLY, what more could you want?
Great teacher. Take his class. you wont regret it. P.S Don't buy the book.
I've taken two of Professor Farley's courses; he is, without a doubt, the best history professor of IRSC. His lectures are riveting and engaging, he knows the material very well, and he will help you succeed. There's a lot of extra credit with interesting presentations, and an optional paper. Tests are multiple choice, from PowerPoint notes.
I had Professor Farley for 2 classes in the same semester great teacher! very easy A but you have to come to class and pay attention. He makes his stories interesting so its easy to pay attention. offers tons of extra credit.
This teacher is rude!! He won't let u leave during the class, he locks the doors so people that are late can't come in!! (not me I was never late) he does give ALOT of extra credit which is helping me alot. I am taking it during the summer, I don't recommend it to anyone.
5 tests and a comprehensive final (all 100% scantron). Lots of extra credit opportunities. If you show up and pay attention in class you can skip the textbook. Keeps things interesting with good stories. Be on time and don't expect to ever get out early.
He was a great teacher, be on time, write everithing from his slides and do the study gides. If you study the study gides you will get an A.
CANNOT stay on subject what so ever, I will never take this professor again. I studied 48+ hours to get a C in this class. Ancient history, especially Greek and Roman, is my favorite subject, but his lectures left me confused.
His tests are extremely easy. Show up to class, take down the notes (power points), and complete the study guides and you will be able to pass without any trouble. He's very funny, but is strict on rules (no cell phones, locks the door 5 minutes into class). I highly recommend him!
Terrible at staying on topic, and pretty hard to learn from in general. The only upside is all the extra credit, but that's basically necessary to pass at all. He can be rude, and he gets facts wrong but his pride gets in the way of being corrected or fact checking. His rambling makes lectures useless, and he never uses the book which would help.
Very good teacher. Sure, he's a little spacey and gets rant-y sometimes, but he tells history like it's a story, which clicked in my mind. Never bought the textbook, show up for class, pay attention, etc, etc, etc.
The tests are hard, you really need to memorize the specific material to get a good grade. He is very outgoing and keeps you interested but tends to go off topic. There is extra credit but it is impossible to do any of the activities if you have a job or any other responsibilities outside school. You don't need the textbook, don't be late.
He is a really great professor, very clear and engaging lectures and loves what he teaches. He offers tons of extra credit that is during the day and night (like after 8pm a few times). Attend class everyday, take all the notes, and you won't need the book. Very strict on cellphone usage however.
Class is very entertaining. BUT he waste time telling stories and has yet to lecture on an entire unit before the test on time which is totally lame. Pick another professor if you want to learn.
He is an okay teacher! if you listen to him and really study his notes, NOT the book, you WILL def pass with an A at lowest a B!
It seems he would much rather just tell stories about his experiences instead of sticking to the guidelines which makes it hard to cover the material he tests on. If you take this professor DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!
Wonderful instructor! Most likely going to have him again this coming fall. Make sure you copy your notes from the powerpoint along with adding the information that he says pertaining to the powerpoints b/c the notes are your study guide. Moreover, attend as much Living History events as you can because it is extra credit towards your final exam.
Farley loves history hands down. His class was interesting until I failed every test. I was taking 4 other major classes so thats probably why. The book isnt needed at all. Listen carefully & write what his powerpoints say. I didnt hate the class but Im not a fan of history either. Farley's test are his opinion & what he thinks happened in history.
Best History teacher I've had.He is always so enthusiastic about his teachings. If you're like me and history classes are not your forte, take Mr. Farley. If you leave his class and didn't learn anything, then it's time to re evaluate your learning techniques. He always says something that makes us laugh;this guy is just naturally funny.STUDY NOTES!!
I hate history so maybe this is the reason i barley passes with a C. Very hard to follow because he gets off topic way too much. Could not cover 2 whole untis because he would get off topic. Does have a lot of extra credit which was the only reason i passed & i did the extra credit essay. Dont be late of you cant attend class. good luck!
Could not finish a unit. Had him spring semester. Got C's on all quizzes. Go to extra credit presentations. Passed with a B because of them. Gets off topic and is very strict on rules.
soooo easy. His powerpoints are the tests and he is a nice guy. Approachable, and tons of extra credit. Got an A without any struggle and without opening the book! I definitely recommend taking him. He knows his stuff too, so it is interesting.
Great Teacher
He loves history and teaches it with passion instead of a monotone voice. But he is strict about being on time and about cell phone and drinks. He goes on rants a lot but is a fun teacher.
Mr. Farley is probably the best teacher currently at IRSC chastain campus. No need for the book since all of his notes are given in class. Plus, he offers tons of extra credit which is added to your final exam. In total offers around 90+ extra credit points! Best Teacher
Professor Farley loves history, and can present it in such a way that you will begin to love it to. The man is a great story teller, and therefore every lecture is intensely interesting. Not much text used in class, but it is a must for tests. He wont put up with talking in class or being late, be serious about learning and you be fine.
This is my favorite professor. His lectures are not boring at all, he keeps me interested all the time. While attendence isnt mandatory, I suggest it. Go, take notes from the powerpoint, and study them. the tests are from the notes. there is also a bunch of extra credit offered through out the class.
Does not allow students to use the restroom as if the students are infants instead of adults. Not good teacher but good for advice. I would not recommend this teacher at all.
Professor Farley is the greatest teacher one could only imagine to have. He opened my eyes with not just history, but in life. If you are lazy stay at home, but if you want to learn something take his classes!
Farley is a great professor. He knows his material very well and makes the classes interesting; I have never felt like I would fall asleep during any of his classes. I had him for AMH2010 and liked the class so much I took another with him. He gives countless extra credit opportunities, so it is very possible to get an A in his classes if you try.
Mr. Farley is by far my favorite professor at IRSC. To pass his class, you HAVE to attend all classes, takes notes and study but the martial isn't difficult to memorize. He gives you an extremely helpful study guide as well. He has a huge passion for history and his lectures are fascinating. Don't waste your time one anyone else.
On a power trip: no bathroom use, gets in peoples faces as a joke, crazy about locking doors, etc. Many of his facts are wrong (not just about history either). Tests are an exercise in futility, a lot of the stuff nobody has ever seen. Skip this teacher.
He does not let you leave the classroom, ever. Not even to go to the bathroom. He locks the doors, thinks its ok to yell at people. Out of the 5 quizzes, he only finished the material for 2 out of the 5, leaving you on your own. He talks about irrelevant stuff, and the quizzes are hard, he never tells you which maps to study or anything.
Professor Farley's class is pretty straight forward. There's only 5 quizzes and your lowest gets dropped. All of the answers to the quizzes are in your notes and you will be fine if you just study. Plus extra credit really does add up in the end on your exam. I didn't find this class exciting to the slightest amount BUT it's not too hard to pass.
Great professor! Love his stories but if you are lazy and think you can get by with it than your WRONG. You have to STUDY. I started out with a 65 and finished with an A. Otherwise he's a nice guy.
Just don't.
Easy A. Just go to class and take notes. His quizzes are really easy (& you can drop your lowest grade). Exam is comprehensive but he offers extra credit throughout the semester.
Farley is a very passionate professor who knows what he is talking about. His tests are not too difficult and a breeze if you study well. Make sure to take good notes and pay attention to what he says because his power points are hard to understand. He offers many extra credit opportunities and teaches very well. I would recommend him.
wonderful teacher. very into what he teaches & keeps you paying attention. all quizzes are directly from the notes with minimal studying required. gives a lot of extra credit. i never opened my textbook. makes history exciting
Knowledgable about history and gives little tidbits of information that make his lectures fun and engaging. He gives so much opportunity for extra credit and is incredibly passionate about his students' success!
I loved his class I took amh2010 and 2020 with professor Farley and I love him.... You do have to study for his test and listen to the lectures not just copy the power points...if you do that you'll get an A..he's really fun and a great guy!
Literally he is the best professor I have ever had... He makes his lectures so interesting you cant help but pay attention... I love him! Not exactly an easy A because you need to show up, take notes, and study a bit, but its worth it because you actually learn something. Tons of extra credit too! Goof Luck!! :)
He is funny, gives tons of detail about every topic in the class. The notes in class are exactly what is on the quizzes. Up to 60 points of extra credit available for the final. Optional research paper, drops lowest quiz. he offers comprehensive study guide available online.
This teacher was my favorite History teacher of all time, and I'm a History major! He's gives really strange stories about people in history that are both entertain and help you remember the content. i would take him again.
Robert Farley is a great professor. you can tell he takes great pride in passing on his expertise in his field of study to all students that come to his class open minded and ready to learn. by far one of my favorite and most memorable professor. P.S don't be late to class you will regret it.
Lectures entire class but it's worth going to and hearing quirky facts about history figures
Professor Farley is my favorite professor so far at irsc. His lectures are interesting because he teaches history like someone would tell a story. He offers lots of easy extra credit and his grading is simple: 5 quizzes (lowest dropped) and a final. I took him for both AMH2010 & 2020.
Although he's kinda on a power trip, he's a great professor. He has 5 quizzes and an optional research essay to replace a quiz grade. He drops the lowest quiz and has so many extra credit opportunities. I never opened the textbook, his lectures are very clear. Very easy class to take.
Very nice professor, but I had to drop the class because it was so difficult. You have extra credit chances, but still will not help you out. Expect to study your notes that are straight from the powerpoint. I will never take this class again, prevent taking him if you can.
Professor Farley is an amazing teacher. I highly recommend taking his class for AMH 2010 and AMH 2020. I passed both with high A's and I actually enjoyed his class. He is full of knowledge and loves his job. He cares more about the student learning than the grade they get, so he offers A LOT of extra credit. I never even opened the textbook.
professor farley has to be one of my favorite professors at irsc so far i took his class for both amh 2010 and 2020. he makes lectures fun and enjoyable. history isn't exactly my favorite subject and even he made me excited to come to class and learn. use the study guides he provides you with, study for tests, and take advantage of the extra credit
Farley is an awesome professor. I took him for both EUH2000 and EUH2001. He really knows his stuff and his lectures are so interesting! You don't need the textbook because his lectures are the textbook. You have to show up and take notes in order to pass the tests but you will enjoy the lectures because he loves the stuff he teaches.
Professor Farley is one of my favorite professors ever. Very good lectures, makes the history come alive. Do as much extra credit as you can, is fun and helps take pressure off the final. Loved his class!!!
Professor Farley is on my top 10 list , he makes learning fun again! If you ever need to met with him in person or via email he always responds promptly. He gives you plenty of opportunity to earn an A in his class you just need to put in the time.
Professor Farley is a great professor. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives you everything you need in the lectures to past his quizzes with an A. He also gives plenty of extra credit and more than enough opportunities to get an A in his class.
This professor is enthusiastic about what he teaches and makes class enjoyable. His lectures are detailed and he provides study guides for tests. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit. If you want to do well, show up on time and participate. This was the first teacher I looked for when planning future classes. Definitely would take again.
Professor Farley is an awesome teacher!!! He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and these are relevant and extremely interesting lectures and movies. He is extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic and passionate about Western Civilization. I enjoyed this class so much that I am taking the beginnings with him next semester.
Dr. Farley is a brilliant genius! I would take more of his courses if needed. He is an inspiration to all, take a leap of faith and you will never picture yourself in your former brain! Always there for his students. Story like lectures that are engaging. He wants you to succeed. Love this guy! Thanks Dr. Farley!
Dr. Farley is an inspiration to students success, always there when needed. Very fair prof. and will always inspire with a great lecture. Makes you want to change your major to history. Learned more than I could have imagined. Would take more courses from him if needed. If you apply yourself, he will make sure you succeed in the course.
Seriously, he is NOT hard at all. He gives SOOO much extra credit opportunities that you should not fail his class. He is really funny and very straight forward. He is a little bit of a kook, but it keeps class interesting. I recommend taking this class if you are not good at history, like me. You will pass with an easy A.
If you need a fun class plus a gpa boost, he's your guy.
Farley is one of those guys who acts all tough and tries to be intimidating but he's really got such a great heart, we love you professor Farley
This guys is great! Pretends like he'll throw a football at you but he never really has. Such a goof! Give you such a love for history and opens your eyes to new perspectives
Professor Farley doesn't use his time wisely. Almost half of classes are spent talking about himself or a subject that has nothing to do with what we need to know for upcoming exams. Tests are always pushed because he never gets material taught in time. Powerpoints are so condensed, hard to understand whats said. Must read, doesn't give enough info
Pro Farley enjoys teaching history but he gets very behind. Tests are change sometime one and two times. He gives lots of extra credit but it is out of class lectures you have to attend (at night and during the week). For people who work or have lives, won't get much extra credit. Have to have book. Doesn't give enough pwrpnt info. Lots of reading
Gives out a lot of extra credit, so boosting your grade is not difficult. Unfortunately if you have a job, or any responsibility going to these extra credit activities is difficult.
I really enjoyed taking my history courses with Professor Farley. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities, puts humor into his lectures to make them interesting, and is always there for his students. I took him for EUH2000,EUH2001 & EUH2002 and I must say that I will miss having him as a history professor. I recommend taking a class with him!
Professor Farley is an amazing teacher. I would gladly take more of his classes. His lectures are presented like he is telling a story which makes things easier to understand and also more enjoyable. If you put in the effort for his class you will not only succeed but he will in turn go above and beyond for you.
Farley is a god among teachers.
He at first was a true jerk. However, at the end i can see why he is the way he is. No phones in class's and please make sure to turn them off... DO NOT SHOW UP LATE HE WILL LOCK YOU OUT I think i got a B due to Lots of extra credit. test are pretty much what he talks about and he's online notes ask questions if needed
He is my absolute favorite professor I've ever taken. His lectures are hilarious and so easy to listen to. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and he sets up a ton of extra credit opportunities, although he definitely isn't a push over and you have to study and attend class. Would definitely recommend taking especially is you enjoy history
Farley is a funny guy. I do enjoy him but he does get behind on lectures and his powerpoints have odd symbols on them. I have no idea what they mean. He has 5 quizzes and drops lowest and has an optional paper to replace one. His quizzes can be difficult if you do not study. I get about a 75 when I do not study. Overall, I would book him for AMH.
Mr. Farley is the greatest teacher I have ever had by far and my mom was my teacher in the 3rd grade. That's how much I loved Mr. Farley.
Best professor I've ever had. Funny, caring, and witty. His extra credit lectures are super interesting.
Awesome teacher but beware of the tests.
Do the extra credit as much as you can!!! I have 80 extra credit points to my final, I can skip it and still pass he's class. You have to go to class and take notes to get A on he's test. He jumps around a lot with history and he's life. If you take he's study guide and bring it to class and when your doing notes make sure you touch each subject.
Professor Farley is very nice. His class is an easy A if you take advantage of the tons of extra credit he does on a weekly basis. Sometimes he does tend to get off topic but what he usually says is funny and entertaining. I never even cracked open my textbook, you can easily pass his tests by studying his notes he gives.
Professor Farley is great at what he does. History is never an easy A, as you'll always need to study and refresh your brain. However, he made it easier to understand than when I was in high school! Don't be afraid to look at the study guides before his discusses the unit topics; it'll make his lectures a lot simpler to understand.
Dr. Farley is hands down one of the best professors I've had. All of his lectures are interesting and given with passion. Many students complain about it being too difficult but in reality, all you have to do is take notes and listen. I didn't look at my textbook once this class and still got over a 100.
You're going to read a lot of mixed opinions. For the people who just want an A: take him, attend ALL the extra credit. If you get anything less than it's your own fault. His lectures can be very boring and he tends to go on a LOT of tangents. He's actually a very caring professor. A very respected member of the community. Excellent teacher.
Professor Farley is a very interesting professor and person. Make sure you do your best to attend his extra credit, it'll boost your grade like crazy.
Amazing. Attendance optional and an easy A with EC. One of the best professors ever at Chastian.
Best History teacher Ever
Mr. Farley is a good teacher, but does get off topic, during his off subject talk is a good time to review your notes. I recommend a whole lot of studying outside the classroom. He offers extra credit events, go to as many as you can, i highly recommend.
Dude is awesome
Farley gets off track very easily, but his stories are funny. I did not use the textbook but take good notes in class. The powerpoints are useful if you pay attention to what he says. He teaches passionately and is hilarious. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities and his quizzes are easy if you study.
Great teacher! Start doing the extra credit right away!
EXTREMELY rude to students-dont try to approach him by yourself. Only gives 5 quizzes and a final exam. Gets off topic a lot and spends most of class time talking about stories that arent relevant to the curriculum. Disrespectful, unorganized and would not recommend taking.
Professor is very straight forward with his expectations. All he wants is for you to come to class listen to the lectures and show up for the quizzes. Recording and listening to the lectures is strongly recommended, also write down and reread everything he says while studying for quizzes. Lots of extra credit offered towards the final exam.
Farley is the BEST teacher ever! I can not stress enough how much you need to take his course. In his lectures he goes into detail but you really only need to know the basic info for the terms he gives you. He gives out so much extra credit TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. I had like 150 extra credit points added to my final exam, didn't even need to study.
I took this class because I looked on here and everyone loved him. He will say he gives you everything to study so you should pass(WRONG) his PowerPoints are nothing like the quizzes. Lots of extra credit opportunities but some of us have jobs and lives and cant attend. He is very rude and cares about no one expect his self.
Use Cornell style notes with the study guide topics on the left side and you'll have no problem at all. His lectures are great and he really loves teaching and knows what he's talking about. Bad reviews are from people who want to text in class or not put in any work. Put in a little effort and you'll be fine. Highly recommend !!
I was told to make sure I had this professor and could not be more disappointed. In class, he goes on many long tangents. He says the notes put online would be very helpful, but I would not agree. They are very vague and hard to study on. He has a lot of extra credit opportunities but if you work and have a heavy schedule, it will not work out.
Extremely tough. Your grade is based on several tests. These tests are extremely specific and hard in general. Nobody ever does well on them, but he offers extra credit. Problem is, extra credit is given for out-of-class events, making it impossible to do well if you have a family or a job. However, I did learn a lot from his lectures.
He was an nice professor. Had lots of storys from his past that were interesting. Farley gives out extra credit like its candy and honesty its the best. Plus the extra credit weighs pretty heavy on your grade so itll definitely bring it up if you do it. He would get off topic a lot though during his lectures. His notes were the test.
If you know what your doing, you'll take this professor. Since you don't know what you're doing, here's why you should take him: he gives out so much extra credit that by the time you get to the final, even if you have a low d in the class, it is possible to write your name on the final, turn it in, and walk out with a 103 test average.
This was my 2nd time taking Farley because he is such an amazing professor. Attendance is optional, but after 3 absences, you lose points. 5 quizzes and 1 final exam are the only grades. Drop lowest quiz grade, tons of extra credit, you can also write a research paper to drop another quiz grade. Every class is a lecture so take notes and study.
The only grades are the tests and the study guides are nothing like them. The power points are irrelevant. Lectures are long, extremely boring stories. A lot of extra credit but they're only out of class opportunities that can be hard to attend. Don't take this class if you will have a hard time teaching yourself ALL of the material.
The quizzes are based off the same information in the study guides and the notes. He gets off track during lectures but posts the notes online for that reason. Gives tons of extra credit opportunities but they're usually unrelated to the course. Lets you look at the quiz after to see what you missed. He lets you retake the quiz as a group too.
I took Professor Farley during the summer and I thought his class was very straightforward. He only grades 5 quizzes dropping the lowest. The quizzes are literally the slides he shows in class so super easy to get an A. Professor Farley In addition, is a very funny and a fair person he does not pick favorites.
Currently taking Farley, he is a really good professor. History isn't my best subject but he makes it easy. His lectures are good. Probably the easiest class I'm taking. If you need a history teacher, he definitely should be your first pick.
Very good professor, very passionate, lectures are interesting, lots of extra credit opportunities!
This is the third course that I have taken with professor Farley and I would love to take more if I wasn't graduating. He does tend to go on tangents but the powerpoint notes that he gives are exactly what is on the tests. He gives enough extra credit for D students to get As and drops the lowest test score. Definitely an easy class!
He is so passionate about what he is teaching. He drops the lowest test score and gives NUMEROUS amounts of extra credit. He has events that you can go to and earn extra credit. If you are struggling, take the opportunity to participate in the extra credit. You wont regret it. His passion for what he is teaching makes the class worth it.
Kind of boring as he goes off on long tangents about stuff and repeats himself every class. But you can tell hes very passionate about what he does. So many extra credit opportunities but you cant be expected to drive all around to get to them. Only graded on the exams but drops the lowest score and another with optional research paper.
He does not spend his time wisely so he often doesn't get to teach us stuff that we need to know for quizzes. You can tell he is passionate about his job but he often goes off on a tangent. You have to really teach yourself a lot of the material and study a lot for the heavily weighted quizzes.
Hes very kowledgeable about history but he always get distracted and diverges from the lecture. He never finishes the lectures so you have to teach yourself the rest of the material. He briefly goes over whatever he missed but doesn't give much information about it. He does offer lots of extra credit opportunities though, but get ready to drive
He definitely knows what hes talking about. The course is difficult because of how much information you have to retain, however he is a great professor. He speaks with great enthusiasm and detail. No homework. 5 tests plus the final, tests are difficult so study. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT ITS WORTH IT
Worst class Ive taken at IRSC. You can get a decent grade, but you have to study a ridiculous amount. Studying wont be enough, so you get to do the extra credit which involves driving all over town volunteering. This course is very manipulated. There are better history professors on the campus.
Most strict unreasonable professor I have EVER had. Doesn't allow people to go to the bathroom and LOCKS people out of class if you're more than 5 MINUTES late. Also threatens to throw balls at students. Really? This is college, NOT high school. Gives extra credit, but it's SUPER out of the way and not worth it at all.
Does not let you eat or drink in class. He will yell at you if you leave to use to the restroom. Quizzes are very hard so make sure you study. He does give plenty of extra credit opportunities which helped me receive an A in the class.
Do not recommend this professor!! You are not allowed to drink, eat, or leave the classroom to use the restroom at all. He threatens to through balls at you for talking. He gives very long boring lectures about the lessons. The study guides he gives are not helpful for the quizzes at all. For this class, you have to teach yourself a lot. DONT TAKE
This class was fairly easy, and he gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit. However, the quizzes are very hard and you need to study a lot to get a good grade. While he doesnt grade on attendance, the lectures are very helpful unless you feel like reading the whole textbook (which you would have to do if you skip class.) Hes not very clear.
DO NOT TAKE. POWER POINTS/STUDY GUIDES HAVE LITTLE TO NO INFORMATION ON THEM. THEY AREN'T HELPFUL AT ALL I COULDN'T EVEN ACCESS TEXTBOOK. YOUR ONLY GRADED OFF OF YOUR EXAMS. ALL OF THE EXAMS ARE WRITTEN THEY ARE NOT MULTIPLE CHOICE.
By far the rudest professor i've ever had. Makes you agree to all of his rules the first day and if you break them points are taken off your final grade. Degrading and disrespectful. Will not let you use the restroom. Talks the entire class. Only good part of this class is that the textbook is free.
Oh Robert, He was quite the adventure. The lectures are, in a word, disorganized. They do not ever in any case, for any reason, relate to the test material. I went to one of the extra credit things and he wore a platinum-blond Bob Marley style wig. 10/10 experience But, overall, nah I would not take again :)
He's dedicated to his work, but if you are very busy or not one to stay strong through boring lectures, this might not be for you. I cant blame him for having boring lectures since he has a short amount of time, but most of the material was scrambled and didn't match the test material. Extra credit is nice but only if you have time to drive around.
Only grades are 5 quizzes and a research paper, the lowest of the six grades are dropped. There are lots of extra credit opportunities but they are a lot of work and very out of the way. The lectures are long and boring. If you take detailed notes during the class you can do decent on the quizzes. All the quizzes are multiple choice and on paper.
The only reason why I got a decent grade was because of extra credit opportunities and the research paper. He holds the most boring lectures which makes it so difficult to stay in tune and pay attention. I studied for each quiz and still never got an A on one. Just follow his rules and dont email him with nonsense and he wont be rude to you.
Where to start? On the first day, he states that if you get up to use the restroom anytime throughout class you will get 1 point deducted from your final grade. This professor has a great deal of experience in the world of academia but his personal skills are sorely lacking. I did well, but difficult to follow. I would NOT him take again.
Plenty of extra credit opportunities which is awesome. However, be prepared for boring tangents and useless study guides. His power points will be extremely vague, so do some filling in of your own. Do NOT worry about the study guides because they wont be on the text. This is my second class with him. He is kind of cocky.
He is very knowledgeable HOWEVER extremely boring a rude. If you have a question that doesn't seem valid to him he makes you feel that way. His lectures are the entire length of the class and only gives quizzes so you have no other shot of brining your grade up. Extra credit helps not more than 5 points. Do not take if you are a hands on learner!
Good at telling stories during lecture. You must agree to rules and youll get kicked out in front of everyone if you break them. Read the free textbook before a quiz-study guide is VERY vague. Best part of course is extra credit although some takes up a lot of time. The EC makes it easy to pass for the mandatory students who arent interested
