And he's a compulsive liar....
if you're not a CPA, good luck...even if you are, good luck.
tough exams and doesnt care about students
Biggest ass ever. Doesn't care if he fails everyone because he's got ten-year. Will not teach you anything.
Very bad teacher. He refuses to write anything on the board so you have to take notes by what he says in class. Which usually makes no sense and usually leads to a huge story thats the biggest lie ever.
So supposedly this guy got his hands run over with a gas truck while he was sleeping...enough said
ok not only did a gas truck run over his hands, but he was also able to dunk a basketball at age 11 ladies and gentlemen! he's a good laugh but you dont learn much. tells you what is going to be on test but they aren't a joke.
Spends the whole class telling stories, teaches nothing, tests on everything in the chapter.

he's full of ****, he explains nothing, his tests are impossible, only good thing is no attendance and u don't have to do the HW and never fails you b/c he doesnt wanna get fired
Pathological liar. Said that he played in the NCAA final four against Bill Walton, yet he went to Northeastern or UMass, neither of which played in the final four in the 70's. Said he got a perfect score on his SATs. Almost as bad as Kathy Simmons.
Nice guy, but you'll wish he didn't tell so many stories when you see his tests.
Hard Class, almost no information regarding what to expect on the test, good luck!!!!
cool guy. tells stories all the time. class takes forever. hard tests. never realy talks about subject.

I've never had a professor that was more full of crap than this guy. His class was awful, his stories are all lies, and he doesn't teach a thing.
Nice guy, the only problem is he doesnt actually teach. You can go to class and take notes, but it won't help you 1 bit when he gives you the exam. Do not take this class, one of the worst teachers i've ever had if not the worst
This professor made it very difficult to understand something pretty easy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OUTSTANDING GPA AND CAN AFFORD A BAD GRADE!!!
This guy doesn't teach. No possible way to get a good grade unless you learn it on your own.
He's not that bad...Just do your homework.
If he had a test on his life, i would get a 100, doesnt know anything, very bad teacher, IF you ask him a question, he will drift away from the subject because he doesnt know >>> DO NOT TAKE <<<
Very good practical examples of how to use the material at work. I got more out of this class than any other MBA class I've taken.
Just do yourself a favor and Don't Take Him!!!
Actually enjoyed the class. Accounting is hard to begin with but he does a good job of explaining all the examples. He also curves very well. Do the work and u'll be fine. Very friendly and funny guy.
Worst MBA teacher I had at Bryant. If you want to learn about his daughter & his trips to France, take him. Otherwise, avoid!. I found the material in the book very interesting but his class and exams were impossible. He doesn't use email or voicemail so he's impossible to reach. Please retire!!
I hate accouting, but I really didnt mind his class. He's a nice guy, but does tell a lot of stories. He explains the homework problems (just make sure you do them) He really doesn't take attendence, but going to class helps! Not bad at all!
Hes not that bad if u deal with the stories.. went to class barely reviewed work but listened in class.. i got a b for the semester... plus he does some nice things to help students out
>>>DO NOT TAKE!!!<<< doesn't teach, on;y goes over homework and lots of it. tests are very difficult with MC and 1 problem worth 50 points. honestly, I didn't learn a single thing in his class and I put in a lot of extra effort. very disappointing!!
really bad
Very good...everyone else is bull
Stop. Drop. and take a new professor you will be better off. Worst professor at Bryant. Doesn't teach, no visual aids, no instruction and gives you different questions on exam that don't pertain to what you learned. DROP RIGHT NOW!
I dont know what everyone is ****ing about. I took 3 exams and got a 61, 71, and a 74 before the final. Took the final and somehow managed a B+. Holla at cha boy!
This teacher has opened my eyes to the wonders of accounting and business.... His classes are pure joy.... I leave his classes only to count the hours until I return... He is the best.....
Worst teacher i have had at Bryant. Dont ask questions he will make you feel like an idiot. Gives quizes totally different then HW or class. Tests are hard. He says he grades on a curve but he doesnt. Dont take him.
If it looks like a positive comment - he wrote it himself.
This guy has been in accounting longer than my parents have been alive. He may not cover course material as much as some would hope or expect but if you listen to his stories (& you will hear many stories) you can learn a lot about real life applications of the science (good stuff if youre an accounting major). He leaves test examples on reserve
he's a nice guy and has alot of random life stories, so in that respect he's cool. but as for accounting, its a tough subject especially if youve never taken it before and the class is like 80% life stories and 20% accounting so you gotta read the text like whoa and it gets confusing since its all new material.
before this class, accounting was in strong consideration for my major. so much for that. this guy is awful. doesnt teach a goddamn thing. "THE BIG GUY" as he calls himself, is absolutely a terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM
This guy is the worst teacher i've ever had. Actually, he's not even a teacher, he's a story teller, which is cool at the beginning, but pisses you off at the end. The Big Guy does not say anything about accounting throughout the course, and should retire, or go back to school and taking education courses. Thanks for nothing, Big Guy.
Nice Guy, but BAD teacher! He will tell you some of his life stories at the beginning of the semester, then REPEAT them over and over throughout the semester, and does not teach the course material. Do NOT Take unless you want to dread going to class every time.
class consists of him walking in and then telling a bunch of random stories. doesn't actually teach anything, doesn't write a lot of notes either. isn't clear about what's on tests and gives pop quizzes. don't have to do homework (answers are on reserve in the library). gives massive grading scales (luckily). in general okay, but not that great.
Bad Teacher, but Nice guy... too many stories and not enough explaining and teaching of ACCOUNTING!
dr bob is not as bad as everyone says. sure he has lots of stories to tell, but he goes over everything you need to know in the chapter. pop quizzes can be tough, but the tests are easy. he is a nice guy, except when you ask questions. you obviously need to put effort into learning the material, but that has nothing to do with him.
One of the nicest teachers you'll meet on campus but his teaching ability is nonexistent. Apparently he had an accident with his hand as a kid so he writes no notes on the board and dictates everything. In a course like accounting that revolves around math, don't get stuck with a teacher who refuses to write organized notes.
I had a horrible teacher for 203, and I'm even more lost in this ridiculous class. Spews words at you for 50 minutes, spends entire class periods "going over" HW (asking for the answers), and doesn't write anything on the board (if he does, you can't read it, he had an accident as a kid). Please use Power Point or something!
Sits on one of the desks and tells stories for the whole class. Does not teach at ALL, he tries to go over HW in class but sometimes we would not even get through one problem! Sign in sheet every class but it doesn’t go into your grade? Tests are hard. Pop quizzes are ridiculous. Avoid.
Well, interesting class. Still not sure if I liked it or not. He does tell many stories, and the writing on the board sucks. But, he is there for his students if they need help. The material sucks and is hard.
Learning the material is all on you. He is useless for help.
Granted, his tests are hard, but he is a reasonable grader. You have to put some effort in in order to do well in his course, but you will learn a lot.
Umm not the best teacher. He tells useless stories the entire class and he probably actually teaches for 10 minutes of the class. Really hard grader and his "pop quizzes" are stupid but you'll randomly end up with a decent grade.
You will have to teach yourself the entire course. He can't teach, and wastes class by going over problems and telling useless, made up stories. Tests are completely made up, the problems never come from the book or the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
NO idea what was going on in the class.....didnt do nething and put no effort....still jave no idea what the class ws about...and got an A-...HOLLA ACHA GIRL!!!!
He'll admit to you that he does not care for student progress.. His tests are ridiculously hard. He tells the same stories over and over again (some of which are obviously made up). Advice- stay at the top of the curve. That's how I ended up with a good grade.
Terrible Teacher. Does not teach in class, just reads straight from the book. Grades terribly, uses a scale where he admitted, if everyone got every question right, everyone would get a B. If your answer on your tests isn't exactly to the letter what is in the book, it is wrong. Just avoid him at all costs.
Farrar is the biggest clown of a professor you can take. He has no idea what he's talking about including his stories because he makes them up. You must teach yourself anything because he is incapable of teaching. His "teaching" style consists of sitting on someone's desk and reading off the answer sheet for the previously assigned homework.
Farrar does everything in his power to make sure we dont learn the material. Doesn't do talk about anything regarding accounting in class, just tells stories. He won't show us how to do problems on the board. And he wont give us solutions from the book to aid in our attempt to teach ourselves. Just awful.
A reason why I would not go to Grad School here. The definition of useless. Just absolutely terrible. I really do not know how he still teaches at Bryant.
Farrar is genuinely nice and very funny. His class is relaxing and easy to sit through. He teaches the material thoroughly and at a slow pace, repeating important points consistantly. His stories are really enjoyable to listen to, and he often makes up concrete examples that clarify the information.
Nice guy. He has a hard time staying on track during class - he tells stories for the most part. Doesn't write much at all on the board and makes it difficult to take notes. He doesn't answer questions very well or professionally (can be sarcastic) and goes on and on about all of his degrees. Overall, I wouldn't recommend taking managerial with him
His in class lectures consist of repetitive stories, he refuses to write on the board or answer questions. He literally said "I'm not telling you." His office hours are helpful. Enjoys giving pop quizzes at the worst times(the day back from breaks), make sure you know every bit of material and memorize all formulas. Considering changing my majornow
worst professor I have ever had. Does not explain anything, just goes through homework and doesn't even write on the board, he just talks about the numbers and about all of his "impressive" degrees. DO NOT TAKE!!!!
Don't skip class. Always do HW + be ready for random pop quizzes. Most "lectures" were reading the answer key to the HW (that he distributes to the class online via the library anyway) plus the same irrelevant stories 2-3 times to run out the clock. Needs to use visual aides. Tests hard but scaled. No real review classes or problems before tests.
would be a much better professor if he picked up a marker and wrote on the board. He stands and lectures accounting material which is basically impossible to learn without actually seeing it written out. His pop quizzes do not follow what he is teaching in class- if you're learning about chapter 11 you will probably be quizzed on chapter 7
Do you want to feel like you wasted tuition money on a course with a professor who does nothing but dictate the homework answers? Then this is the guy for you.
Not as terrible as everyone makes him out to be. He doesn't write on the board and his exams are tough but he goes over homework in class which is very helpful. Super nice guy. Curves all exams in some ridiculous way that makes no sense to anyone but him-- but it's a curve so who can complain.
Because of Professor Farrar's lack of teaching, I ended up having to repeat the class; the only time I've ever done that. God-willing he'll retire soon.
Dont take him unless you ready to learn on your own. He does not write on the board. Everything he does is read the HW solutions and is not clear about the answers. I would have rather taken this class as an online course if it was available. Videos would have been more clear and I can contact them by email instead of calling him his house
Absolutely the best history teacher I had since high school, he makes the class fun and always open to the students ideas.
Professor Farrar is easily the worst professor I have had at Bryant by far. He does not write notes on the board so if you're a visual learner like me, you're screwed. He snaps at students for not knowing the answer or simply asking an innocent question because they're confused. It literally says in the syllabus that he cannot teach you.
So far I've learned that the professor has a photographic memory, could at one-time bench press 400 pounds and do a 360 slam dunk from the foul line. Everything else has come from the book. It really is sad that Bryant doesn't do a better job at monitoring professors like him because he is a waste of tuition money and time for students.
Pretty bad teacher. He doesn't write on the board or give examples in class, all you will do in class is go over the homework and listen to him tell stories. I basically had to teach myself everything. Anyone who did well in his class is no thanks to him.
DON'T TAKE HIM AS A TEACHER!!! He doesn't give out or write any notes and just expects you to know and understand the material without ever going over it. he spends the class period giving the solutions to the problems that were assigned but never goes over them in detail. He spends the other half of the class talking about his personal life.
DO NOT TAKE!!! All Farrar does is read over the solutions to homework problems that are impossible to figure out without someone teaching you how to do them, and since he does not do that, IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN. Does not write anything on the board and speaks so damn fast that you cannot even keep up. Overall, just awful.
Nice guy, awful teacher. He talks more about himself than teaching students. All he does is go over the assigned homework and doesn't teach the material beforehand. He has never used the board. Several pop quizzes, offers little help. Wouldn't recommend.
Absolutley WORST teacher of all time. If you want to learn accounting do not take this class!! Farrar makes us teach ourselves through the book and refuses to write on the board. Majority of class is going over homework answers but he talks so fast you don't really learn anything. 10/10 do NOT reccommend.
He is a very nice guy, but one of the worst professors you will ever have. You will not learn. Classes consist of answering questions from the reading. This course does not require any outside thinking, just memorizing the book. Participation grades matter a lot. Quizzes are impossible, but are heavily curved.
Just as terrible as you think he is and more. Get ready to teach yourself anything you want to learn. Just read the rest of the reviews, they're not exaggerating.
Honestly I have to withdrawal from this class because I don't have time to teach myself. Like everyone else has said he only goes over hw problems. When you ask him a question he explains it very fast and is hard to follow. He is very smart but doesn't realize that the things he is teaching aren't easy for the student.
Very boring to listen to in class. Makes attendance mandatory because he struggles to hold the students attention. He is an intelligent man, but is very repetitive in the way he speaks. I would not take him again by choice.
He's not impossible but very difficult. You will need to spend countless hours teaching yourself the material because he only goes over the homework answers. He doesn't write on the board, so don't take if you're a visual learner. Always review material and do hw bc he gives pop quizzes. Gives big curves on tests and quizzes tho so you wont fail
Farrar breaks down his lectures to 85% storytelling and 15% homework problems. I know more about his personal life than Managerial Accounting, and that's my major. He does not answer questions, half the time he doesn't hear you correctly and he answers a different question, not the one you had. I would not take him again.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. I had to withdraw from the course because I learned absolutely nothing for the first month and a half of the class. He doesn't write anything on the board, doesn't teach you how to do the problems, and gives pop quizzes. The whole class is him going over homework problems and telling irrelevant stories.
This was by far one of the worst professors I have had in a long time. He will give you pop quizzes and you will have only exams and quizzes to help your grade. DO NOT TAKE!
This is the most impossible class you will take at Bryant. avoid at all costs. He does not write on the board and his exams have nothing to do with what you learn in class. I can not tell you how to do well because i studied for hours. HE should never be allowed to teach, i would take anyone else if you can!
I have Farrar for a night class right now. Every Tuesday, he will talk for 2.5 hours straight from 6:30-9:10. He takes little to no notes on the board, and seems to not care that his class doesn't follow. He reads straight from the solution manual... (Shouldn't we have just gotten the teacher's edition and saved Bryant 50k?)
