great professor and class--i recommend u take it because the notes can be printed online if you miss a class and directions are very clear..nice guy too

Gives examples of EXACTLY what will be on the test, super nice, helpful, and usually let us out of class at least 10-15min early every day.

Examples in lecture will be very similar to examples on tests. Also, the lecture notes are available on the web if you miss a class. Instructor is highly reccomended.

He is a great professor. He gives a step by step explanation of how to do problems. His TA is very helpful as well. If you do the work and study you will make a good grade. Not sure what the last post is talking about his grading is very straight forward. He is very fair in his grading and he gives you what you earn.

I took his class for both 243&244 & totally recommend it! Fairly easy class if you go through the textbook & his notes. Provides notes online & it's very clear. Overall he made math less painful but the content is still pretty hard.

Awesome teacher. Very clear, never confusing or manipulative on test or quizzes, just read over notes and study quizzes and you should be just fine. Always let us out 35 minutes early. For both STAT 243 & 244. Helpful. Do not graded but assigned homework problems because he goes over each and explains it well. Has the cutest dog ever!!!

Pretty easy class. Boring, but he goes over everything in detail. It's nice that he puts his notes online because I missed a few classes and still got an A.

Was a really good teacher. Probably the best Stat Prof. I've had at PSU. He was really nice, answered any questions you had. It was really easy to follow what he was teaching. And if you missed class, all the lectures were posted on his website. Also, he had 2 TAs, so you always could get your questions answered. I highly recommend him!

Crystal clear. Everything you need to know comes straight from the notes. He will tell you what you need to know for the quizzes/ tests. Great professor. Take him!!!

He explains everything so well. He provides extra credits and he never tested us on something we don't know. I did bad in stats in high school but once I took fountain, i understood the concept a lot better and got A's in both stats 243 and 244

He looks like Snape from Harry Potter! haha. But he teaches everything very well, and he posts his notes online. If you have a question, we will be more than happy to answer it for you. Stats is his life, and by taking his class, you're doing yourself a favor!

Coursework is very simple and professor is very clear and detailed in his lectures. no required homework assignments and he always lets class out at least 20 minutes early. highly recommended.

He makes stats interesting most of the time, sometimes boring but a very good professor, I hated the test, thought they were a bit hard, his lectures would fly by and get out early which was nice. very little work to do at home, study, attend class and don't miss a test/quiz and you should be alright. I recommend him over others in the stats dept.

Very Good Teacher! Notes are Posted Online. Homework is assigned but not graded. There are weekly excel labs, and quizzes, Midterm and Final are scantron and only 25 questions.

Awesome teacher! He drops 1 lowest quiz grade if you take 6 quizzes total or drops 2 lowest quiz grade if taken 7 quizzes total. What's best out of all, you can use one page note for quizzes, midterm and final.

Don't know what the last person is talking about. Great professor, even for a giant class. Makes everything very clear, grades fair, and allows a cheat sheet for tests and quizzes, as well as extra credit. As long as you show up, take notes, and at least try the non mandatory homework every now and then, you'll do fine.

GREAT teacher and class. I took 243 with another prof and it was brutal. Quizzes are graded fairly, 1 or 2 get dropped. Offers extra credit. TOTALLY uses real world examples so you can try and understand as a psychology whyyy you need this class. I did sooo much better than I did in 243, and feel accomplished thanks to Professor Fountain.

Super nice, and super easy class. I make dumb mistakes on his quizzes, but they're easy. His notes are clear and concise with lots of examples. Labs are a breeze. I understood not only the math, but the concepts. Highly recommended

Very good professor. Puts his notes online in pdf format. Gives clear definitions and examples. Allows a page of notes on exams. Makes what can be a difficult subject very clear. There is a lack of feedback from the grader though.

This teacher was awesome. He cleared up all the confusion in stat 243 in one class. Very helpful. Lets you use 1 page notes on test and quizes. NO HW. Labs are a little tricky. Be careful on test because he asks questions that are more thought then equations. Overall an anesome teacher.

Took stats 244 with him, class is big (over 200 students), not mandatory to attend. You can use one page note front and back for his quizzes, midterm and final. This guy is the way to go if you want to get through stats in the least painful way possible. His quizzes are a bit tricky, but his exams, homework, and explanations are all super straight-forward. Had him for Stat 243 as well. It was even easier.

For a Professor teaching such a big class he was awesome. He made statistics super easy and put all the notes online. He gives a couple of quizzes and a midterm and a final that are 25 questions. I would highly recommend him for Stats.

Fountain is awesome. I took STAT243 from another professor and was completely confused. Fountain makes statistics easy to understand, which is impressive given the size of the class. All of his notes are online, but it is definitely helpful to actually go to class. His quizzes are not difficult, they follow along with the notes from lectures.

The best and easiest math course I have ever taken, all thanks to Bob. Drops lowest quiz and lab scores, but all assignments very easy. assigns minimal homework as help but not to turn in. I never cracked my book and got an A based on his amazing teaching. Made subject easy to understand. Almost makes me believe I can do math.

I recommend actually going to class because there are things he covers in class, like how to do problems with a calculator, that he doesn't cover in the notes (that are posted online). He provides real world examples (in class) which are also helpful. You never actually turn homework in and he goes over most problems during the next class.

He gives you back all your labs, quizzes, and tests so you have an idea of how you are doing in the class. The labs are really easy, and an EC one was given at the end of the term. Quizzes and tests are very similar. Go to class and don't cheat on tests/quizzes because he will kick you out of the class as he did to a couple people this term.

I was hesitant to take a math class in such a large hall, but Fountain is a pro at making it work. Notes posted online, all labs and quizzes returned promptly, one page of notes on the exams. The year I took it the textbook was infuriatingly expensive.

Take him for stats I sat in on all the stats before deciding on him and have not regretted it. easy class, easy quiz, easy midterm easy final. YOU WILL GET AN A. I guess some people don't get an A but I really don't understand how.

Extremely easy to follow. Puts all notes online. It's easier to understand if you attend class, especially for the material covered after the midterm. Excel lab assignments are easy. Honestly, don't even take time deciding b/w different professors. Just take this class. I had taken this class with another prof, and I had to drop it because the he was really bad at explaining stuff. I hated stats and now I love it thanks to Dr. Fountain. He makes it so easy.

I would not even consider taking stats with anyone other than Fountain. He is an amazing lecturer and is extremely knowledgeable. He has weekly exams which I was a little worried about, but I felt more then prepared for them just by attending his lectures.

Dr. Fountain is probably one of the most coherent professors i've ever had a lecture with. He is very articulate and his hand writing is actually really neat so it's easy to follow him. It's still a hard class but they give you tools, tutoring and more to help you out. Really recommend.

Clearest professor I have ever seen, the examples are relevant and consistent. He is always prepared to lecture, and really knows the material. He doesn't care about homework, it is just suggested but not graded.

7 quizzes, 5 Excel labs, Midterm, and Final exam. I found the class easy, but you have to study/Review the material quite often. There are plenty of GA's to help answer questions.

Best Stats professor ever! I took stats 243 and 244 with him. He explained everything well, gave examples and showed how to solve every problem the long way and by using the calculator. He also posted all the notes online which was super helpful if you missed a day of class.He's very clear and I highly recommend him

I've never written a review on here but had to because of my experience with Dr. Fountain. He's the best professor I've ever had. This is one of the most droppedfailed classes at PSU but Dr. Fountain has a far lower dropfail rate than all the other stats professors. Take it with Bob, you won't regret it.

Easiest class I've ever taken. Lecture is very, very boring until near the end of term when you've finished with the basics and start learning what he calls real statistics. Tests are fair and come straight out of quizzes from recitationexamples from class. Book is unnecessary if you go to class and pay attention. Would definitely recommend.

He's an amazing professor. He takes pity on you so it's amazing if u can fail his class. I recommend taking Scott woods recistation when the coursework got harder he was there to save my grade he's the best out of the TAs.

He had very clear lectures and the tests weren't too hard and we very short and multiple choice. Very helpful and gives extra credit so its hard not to pass this class. One of the best math teachers I've had and I would recommend him to any student.

I had Dr. Fountain for STAT 243 and 244, and he's great. Super clear lectures, always doing at least two example problems that he walks you through for each new topic. All notes are posted online. He's very polite and helpful. He always only goes as long as the material needs, so you'll get out of class early a lot (sometimes like 50 minutes).

I had Dr. Fountain for Stats 244 lecture. He is very clear, very helpful, and to the point. Class will get out early every day, which allows you to absorb the material. He takes notes as he teaches and posts them on his website. The workload is very balanced. If you understand the material you'll do fine. Take him over the other math professors.

Dr. Fountain is the best math professor I have ever encountered. He has great lectures and will stop for questions even in a 200+ student lecture hall. The exact notes from lecture are posted online promptly. The exams are very similar to the notes and study guide. Go to class even though it isn't mandatory or you'll fall behind.

Robert fountain is the best math professor I've had so far while in college. I'm the worse at math!! His teaching style is what made me succeed. He's very organized, clear, simple and gets straight to the point. He writes his notes as he goes. He doesn't overload you with too much info. Weekly quizzes (short&easy) and two exams (short&easy).

He is great, although it is hard to reach him because the TAs are the ones you can directly ask questions. It was also very hard to know what my current grade was, because he didnt post up the grade and the TAs didnt too.

Math has not been my strong suit for as long as I can remember. Professor Fountain truly made me understand math way more than I ever have before. He is very clear with his notes and explains what he is going over very thoroughly and precisely. Whether math is your strong suit or not, I would strongly recommend taking a math class with him.

Homework is graded very fair. Lectures are very straightforward and give you a good idea of the material. The assigned book was only used for homework, but was a good reference at times. Tests 50%, HW 50%. Tests not too hard.

Such a great professor who knows how to deliver the desired information briefly and clearly without useless things. A do-able and reasonable amount of HW every week worth 50% of total score. no textbook required. 1 midterm + 1 final, or 2 midterm (50%). Understand the main concepts easily and clearly.
