This class helps with reflecting on what you want your major and career to be. This class was mixed mode with 1 in person class per week. Professor Furrow is a good speaker but the class can get boring being that he doesn't use the board to write or project slides, which would help with our attention span and make his lectures more interesting.

Very helpful and kind professor. Has weekly zooms to answer questions and gives extra points for attending. Not that many assignments throughout the class, so you really need to make sure you complete the assignments on time. The assignments are pretty easy though. I thought the final project was pretty fun.

There is extra credit every week. I take this class online so every Friday there will be one or two assignments at the most one of them being a discussion. Simply amazing! Not only has he answered all questions I had whenever I reached out, but has also reached out to me to see how everything was coming along and if there was anything that he could do to help.

The professor is good at explaining the information that is needed but can tend to go off into a story relating to what he is talking about. Some people might like the story telling but I felt it happened slightly more often than I would have liked.

Professor Furrow's NSE class is a great "intro to college" kinda course and is great for familiarizing students of any age with Valencia College. Some aspects of the course can seem a bit silly, but just do it. As a prior cop and longtime Valencia alumni, Professor Furrow has plenty of insight into all things education. Great Class.

For people who really need help figuring things out and wanting a more personal and hands on approach to the campus and its resources this class is for you. The professor gave extra credit and that alone could raise your grade a whole letter. If you have any questions about anything or need help with job or academics he is more then happy to help.

This class is great! Many people hate New Student Experience, but this class was fun because of the amount of stuff that is useful to your career and education journey. There are many great people and it is a chill, short class that is taught by a very knowledgeable professor. He can help you with any career pathway you choose and is very laid back

Prof Furrow is great. There are periods of weeks where the grades received are mostly for attendance and discussions, so don't miss that one assignment that's worth 100 points like I did (honestly my fault there) as it will drop your grade significantly, by multiple letter grades. The class is honestly very easy & Prof Furrow is a great educator :)

The class itself was pretty self-explanatory on its own but the professor is pretty good at sending reminders for anything going on. Make sure to listen to the lectures and participate or else it'll just last longer and no one will learn anything. It's totally okay to ask questions outside of class so make sure to do so if you need to.

The course is intentionally designed to be hand-held. The professor holds meetings every Friday to answer questions about the topic being discussed that week, and attending them will give extra credit; moreover, I doubt it is necessary for me to explain how much this purposeful decision by the professor benefits the student's grade & education.

Mr. Furrow was very helpful and easygoing with all the students and gave very clear advice to them whenever it was needed. His classes are very engaging and he instituted various in-class projects which made the class that more interesting. I would highly recommend his class to any of my peers!

He did a good job of helping students when needed. The work is rather boring but nothing you wouldn't expect from new student experience. It is rather heavy in writing but overall an enjoyable experience.

Professor Furrow is a great SLS professor! Don't worry about there being a lot of work. Honestly, the assignments are easy, some might take a little longer but none of the assignments are hard. Attendance is not necessarily mandatory because he's not strict/does not get on you about it but if you do miss any days you lose 5 points each day you miss

Professor Furrow gave really good feedback when it came to my assignments and answered questions I had about pursuing my career. A lot of the course material related to shaping our personal futures. Sometimes instructions were unclear to me, but the professor cleared any confusion I had. Also extra credit is easy to obtain so that was helpful.

10/10 amazing teacher. If you want an easy A this is the teacher to go to. Very respectful and homework isn't heavy. He sometimes lectures alot but it's not too much. There aren't any exams just a final project at the end. I would def take him again if I could.

If you want a easy A+ then this professor is for you. He gives an A on almost everything and gives you amazing feedback. No exams and 1-2 assignments per week. He is also very leniant with late work so you'll be good. He does lecture alot but its intresting stuff that are helpful. He also helps you alot with good advice. Extra credit weekly!

I think this professor is super nice and very understanding. He also makes sure that you understand the assignment and leaves directions of clarification on canvas. He is also very nice and allows you to redo the assignment for a better grade which is very nice. Overall nice guy easy assignments and overall a really good class to take with him.

He is a great teacher with a ton of knowledge on the class and other future goals(Jobs, money spending). His assignments are pretty straight forward, but if you need help his explanations make the assignments more clear. He gives many chances are receiving extra credit and turn in work.

Professor Furrow is very understanding and will work with you. Going through the information before a discussion or assignment may take some time. I have had to repeat this course due to moving multiple times and this credit doesn't transfer so i didn't think i could learn anything from it. But Professor Furrow still managed to teach me new information about the college process and how certain things worked. I would highly recommend getting this professor if you have the opprotunity.

​He gives out a lot of extra credit. Also, his work is super easy, and his grading criteria are very clear. He is also an easy grader. There is only one assignment every week, sometimes two. He is also very understanding about situations that just kind of happen that you don't have control over. Take this class if you want an easy A.

Decent professor, there is a decent amount of assignments but if you attend the class you can either finish it there and he will provide a break down of the assignment but its pretty straight forward.

I struggle to go to his class because its super early and i worked late but he never uses my grade as punishment and it so easy to make up for. If you miss assignments they don't close and you can take them at a better time. There is a textbook but you only use it for the access code.
