He's very well organized. Everything is in Power Point. He'll also take the time to pull you aside and help you with anything you need. Not everyone found him as easy as I did, but he seemed very helpful to all that asked. His smile is evil but funny.

class is extremely boring and he does not review for any tests. He rambles on in lecture and never stresses any topic as being important so when studying for your test, you have a mess of notes and no review...i wouldn't take a class with him again.

Material can get difficult, and there is no textbook so you have to read from the notes, Professor is very kind and helpful, he is a genuis!!

professor is a really nice guy who tries very hard to get his students interested and thinking about the material...the class can get boring though if you're not interested, and sometimes it can be really hard to follow along because there are so many notes about so many subjects

Not always the most exciting lectures, but he's got a good sense of humor and is very helpful, both in answering questions asked in class, and after class. A few short papers to write and some in-class discussions.

I've never cared for science but that doesnt mean I dont try hard. His class is difficul. I hate that he wont review for the tests. All power point so if you cant write fast enough or you dont have the notes from online youre up the creek. His final is cumulative. If you ask for help he is more than willing.

for Nature of Science he is knowledgeable but sometimes gives information that is too in depth for our understanding. he is very interested in what he is teaching and assignments are not boring.

simple class. all the notes are online, and there is no textbook. every homework assignment is the same. goes a little fast with his letures and things get either boring or confusing. overall an interesting and easy class. tests are easy if you study or pay attention.

I went in to the Nature of Science expecting the class to be a piece of cake. I was surprised to learn that we were actually expected to do a fair amount of work. Also, there is a LOT of information to study for on the tests, and the lectures are EXTREMELY boring.

He's very organized, all of the notes are available online, the classes can be fun (on occasion), the only tough thing is that the tests cover A LOT of information. Besides that, it's a decent class, if you need a science class w/o a lab.

I felt Professor Gamache was helpful and available to those student who needed the help. Great sense of humor and I appreciated that we, the students, were able to think critically and become more critical to the material that we were learning or observing.

Way too much information for an intro class. Chapters are really long and it's a lot of material for one test so it's hard to know exactly what to focus on. Lectures a bit boring.

The professor was very patient and willing to work with students if they needed any extra help or if they had any questions. The textbook could have been better--it was too dry, cynical, and demeaning. Overall, the coursework was not demanding and it was mostly self-explanatory.

Very interesting class and excellent teacher. I took this class for a gen. ed requirement and I dont regret it. Definitely for people who have even the slightest interest in science. I would definitely take another class with this teacher... too bad I'm not a science major though

This is an OK class, nothing special. You do have to study a lot of factual info for the tests, so don't expect it to be easy or philosophical just because of the name. Papers and HW are wicked easy - he usually asks you to write 2 pages on what you "think of" a topic. You can pretty much write anything and get a 10/10.

Professor Gamache is extremely intelligent, and is easy to understand. If you don't understand something he will stop and better explain it. He teaches you to think critically and thats what his classes are all about.

Good guy. Go to class (he gives random pop quizzes and homework assignments due next class) and once in a blue moon will take attendance. Download the lecture notes offline and take your own notes. He makes science so simple to understand, no crazy formulas to memorize, not ridiculous information.

Doesn't take attendance, but go to class because he gives homework assignments and quizzes. Lectures are interesting, tests are easy if you go to class and take notes. He's a good prof, approachable, I would take another class with him.

I loved his Nature of Science class. He is a fair teacher when it comes to homework and tests. If you do your work you will have no problems. You will do bad on the tests if you don't study.

Really encourages critical thinking. explains subject as clearly as I've ever heard it be explained. 2 exams; not difficult, just a lot of material to study. Multiple short papers and quizzes; also not difficult. Highly recommended for a science elective.

He is a good professor. 3 test including the final, and about 10 short papers. Not a hard class, he just teaches a lot of infromation. I suggest printing out his slides, he goes kind of fast to take notes.

All of the information is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. There is just a ton of it inbetween tests but the slides he puts on the website are pretty helpful. Overall not a hard class

The Nature of Science-Excellent Professor. Explains the information in a way that everyone can understand. The tests will be difficult if you don't study. Everything else (papers, quizzes) aren't difficult, but study the material daily because he gives random pop quizzes. One of the best at UML.

Overall good class. Don't take the class if you are very religious. Gamache divides up the grade between quizzes, short homework papers, exams, and the final, which can be very helpful if you don't do so well on one of the exams. Some of the questions on the exams can be tricky, try not to memorize everything. Think critically and ask questions.

he is a great teacher! i had him for nature of science. just do you're homework and go to class. the homework and quizzes are very easy, but don't understimate the tests. You must study if you want to past the test, it's everything you learned in class. If you need extra credits TAKE THIS CLASS!

The class i s not hard at all as long as you go to class here and there and pay attention to what he says you'll do fine on the tests. The tests are not that hard & all u do is read a couple of CH's in Sagans book he asks you what you thought about it.

This guy is very passionate about what he knows and he wants to teach it to the best of his ability. His exams are tough, but mostly everything else is simple. Just read and do the HW. Maybe the exams should be worth less and everything else more. The exams and the final are 50% of your grade. Kind of tough to get a good grade if you test poorly.

His Nature of science is boring, but informative. He loves his work and he knows how to teach it. He makes you write papers but they are extremely easy! It's usually read a chapter in, a book he makes you buy, and write a paper on how it makes you feel. Exams have a lot of material but they are fair. I would suggest him!

It is obvious from day 1 that he is very passionate about what he teaches, which can be a rare quality. Papers and tests are easy if you pay attention. Helps you to think about things in a different way, an excellent introduction to science. The class itself may be a review of topics already learned, but can be very interesting. Highly recommend!

Get the chapter summaries from bookrags.com and you will get enough info to write papers. This class isn't hard, just go occassionally and get the note packets.

This class is a good intro class. You will learn what a good professor is like. Attend class atleast once a week and make sure you do the reading/papers. Just have an opinion and you will do great.

Nature of Science-This is a good course to take for electives. It only requires you read a few chapters in a book about alien abductions. The exams are easy if you go to class.

Professor Gamache is very into his subject which is good because it makes you want to pay attention to him when you are in class. The papers are only 2 pages and are an easy grade as long as you do them all.

This class is a good introduction to UMass Lowell. He teaches you it is ok to question your professors. I wish I had had him before some of the other tools at this school. The class is easy as long as you attend. Exams are multiple choice and essay. Just have an opinion, that will get you through the book readings. Bookrags.com helps!

Took this class as an elective and definitely recommend. He allows you to have an opinion and enjoys hearing your opinion. Tests are multi choice and short essays. Easy if you come to class. Homework essays are 2 pages and asks for your opinion on subjects in the req. reading. Overall, great class.

Fair and reasonable professor. Material is pretty easy going: power point lectures and some light reading from the text (but you will use the text). Exam format is multiple choice with a handful of broad essay questions at the end. Solid pick for a first year student: class isn't too taxing and he's an enthusiastic teacher.

Be sure to keep up with homework, quizzes and attendance. Lectures are based on slides, which he hands out. Tests aren't HARD, but if you do poorly you can make up for it with homework & quizzes.

He's a really good professor.You only need a book by carl sagan. Class is boring. Attendance mandatory. To past exams you either have to get science or dont.If you dont,google is your best friend if you want to pass. Also gives outline for exams. Quizzes are really easy and there is a lot of papers but it is on your own thoughts on the topics.

I took the Nature of Science and it was interesting. It's also a refresher of information, you had either forgotten, or did not know. This professor is really passionate about his teaching in this course. He does have a sense of humor so the class can at times be comical. I would take it again knowing now what I know about it.

I took Nature of Science. I thought the class was very interesting and the professor was very passionate about what he was teaching. Encourages a lot of critical thinking, something you don't necessarily take away from most classes in school. I would recommend this class to anyone else, I'm very glad I took it.

I took Nature of Science and the class was great. The professor is very passionate about his study and I really did learn a lot from the class. You'll enjoy the class if you like supernatural studies and alien abductions.

Great teacher, really shows a strong love for the stuff he is teaching. The tests are pretty hard, but as long as you do every HW essay and are actually interested in is class you get a lot of extra points. The book isn't used in class expect for typing the two page essays every other week, and an in-class discussion/quiz, and the book is decent

I learned a lot from this professor. Gamache is passionate and you will learn a lot if you go everyday and pay attention. Tests were harder than expected but if you do all the papers and study it isnt that bad. Pretty simple, go to class, take notes, listen and your good.

Prof Gamache is a wonderful professor. He is very enthusiastic about what he teaches. He is very helpful when you need it. Attendance is mandatory, you have to do short papers, some class quizzes and exams. As long as you go to class, take notes and keep up with homework you should do well. You need to work for a good grade !
