I took this as an elective because I felt that English was a strong point. He teaches far beyond that perception. His grading is harsh by COD standards. It is reasonable by any other. I am glad he does this, few at COD challenge the imagination as deeply as he will. Expect hard work and harsh grading.. but realize it is worth it for his insight

I thought that he was an over all good teacher. It is a class only based on a few grades like a few quizzes, one paper, one presentation and participation/attendance. You have to attend class. Must read chapters in the book to do good on the quizzes. I liked the way he set up the grading. He is helpful and a good teacher.

He LOVES the sound of his own voice. If you left him to it, he could talk for three hours straight and not be winded. He promotes himself a lot. If you don't go to class, and take notes it will show on the tests. His expectations are HIGH. You can learn a lot from him, but the way he talks may get annoying.

He is a very intelligent guy. Class is challenging but fullfilling. Do what is required, go to class, and take notes and you should get a decent grade. I would definetley take another one of his classes.

He is pretty good. It's an easy A if you go to class, take notes and do the homework. I took Film as Literature with him and it was a fun class. The homework wasn't that bad. He's very passionate about what he teaches and he's helpful.

I know he teaches at a community college, but this professor is the best professor I've had - and I go to a $34K/year college. He has an absolute passion for film (and literature - I took ENGL 1102 as well) and he is unbelievably educated in it. He loves his students and you'll get an A if you're not a typical COD student and actually attend class.

Prof. G. is a great teacher. He is a very uncovential professor in that he finds ways to keep you interested with the current aspects of film and Lit. but you'll still walk away learning the necessary components of the class and even more. Definitely recommend, not just a typical College Prof. he stays in touch with you after class. Loves his Work!

As with most respectable colleges courses, you get out what you put into Film as Lit. The content proved to be very interesting and applicable to other subject areas. Professor Georgalas' input proves to be thought-provoking and entertaining. Very fun to discover the hidden messages in movies!!!

Great Guy. He knows his films. He is very nice. He will elaborate on the greatest films that are out, he will show you many aspects to the movie that you may have never seen. And he was taught under Kurt Vonnegut. TAKE HIS CLASS.

This class is great since Prof.Georgalas does not overcomplicate things, and has easy to meet deadlines. You learn a lot in his class, and read good books, which are later broken down. I had a teacher that made me write a paper each week, so if you get the chance to be in one of his classes take it.

This is by far one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken. This teacher is very smart and challenges you to do your best. He is helpful, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable. Your effort will very easily reflect your grade. If you enjoy great films, come prepared, and do your work, there's no reason you shouldn't receive an A.

I took Eng-1135 Into to Film Art and Eng-1102 Composition by Professor Georgalas. In both classes I left knowing much more than I started with. Do your work, reading, and ask any questions if you have them and all will be well. This is one teacher at COD that really knows what he's talking about, so pay attention if your interested.

Any class by Prof Georgalas are meant to be taken by serious students who actually want to learn and excel. Prof Georgalas knowledge of Literature and Film is unsurpassed by probably anyone at COD. Read the sylbi, show up, participate and DO THE WORK and you will be fine. I learned more from him than any other teacher at COD.

A group pres on a movie (work hard/know the mtrl) & an indiv paper reviewing a movie (easy). Acting/cinematography/direction/screenplay/mise-en-scene/lighting=key topics. Show up&Don't leave early.

I retook this class for a better grade with him & it seems like the teacher made the difference. He's professional, organized serious and knows his material. Don't skip class! We watched some of my favorite movies, including the Dark Knight. He has a nice mix of films. He's a hard grader on papers so take those seriously!

I took Georgalas during the summer for a Gen-Ed. He is pretty difficult. He loves to talk and hear his own voice. If you don't interpret stories the way he does, you're wrong. He is very knowledgeable, but too difficult for a Gen-Ed. I never knew what he wanted from me and he made me feel like an idiot when I answered wrong.

He's knowledgeable and passionate about film and literature of all kinds. Lectures are engaging and the movies are too. He expects good essays and in-depth analysis, but the class was fun and laid back. If you are interested in film and don't mind writing good essays, take this class.

One of the best teachers ive ever had. His passion for film and literature truly shows and its sort of contageous. Only take his class if you are serious about academics. He treats you like an adult and challenges you but doesn't mean you cant get an a . His classes are fun and truly inspiring and motivational overall.

Eh. Smart, but very boring during lectures. Takes points for attendance, so I just go, sign the sheet, and sit there. Find out what the tests will be about, because those are the ONLY times you will need to take notes. Otherwise, his other lectures are pointless. Read the books. The final paper and the processes of it total to 80% of your grade.

Never thought I would do this but I have to. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. he will test you and then have class discussions on what you were just tested on and repeat that 3 times in the semester. This class is research writing but he teaches NOTHING about that topic. Unless you want a professor who is trying to fail students find a different class!

Professor Georgalas is a very knowledgeable teacher. He has a lot to teach you and his lectures are always very interesting (if a tad long). Don't take this class if you aren't prepared to put in the work. But if you show up to class, listen to the lecture, and do the assignments correctly, you'll be fine. Also, don't be afraid to ask him for help.

There is only one paper that you have through the whole semester and that is a research paper. But he doesn't help you with anything there is no feed back. One time at the beginning of the semester he didn't show up and almost the entire class left and he marked all of us absent. I DON'T RECOMMEND!
