I took Professor Grimm's Into to Business class and he was great! He uses slides which are extremely helpful for the exams. He makes everything seem really hard but as long as you review his slides the exams are easy. Always available to help, very passionate about business, well educated and easy to listen to. Would definitely take again!
He tends to talk down to his students, and he thinks that his powerpoints change people's lives. If you read the chapters, take the quizzes, and read over the powerpoints, you can pass the class easily. I can't stand the way he actually teaches, though, because he repeats himself consistently and says the word "compliance" about a million times.
Very boring...teaches right off slides...thinks he is god...likes steak n shake...friends with ed kelley
Terrible Teacher, talks down a lot and just reads off of the power point. Has no interest in helping students. Avoid this teacher!
Talks too much, likes steak in shake, always telling useless stories. It is a very boring class, i try my best everyday not to fall asleep. But overall he cares, he has a lot of bonus points opportunity. The class is very boring though.
Good guy. Passable class, just do the work...there's a lot...but it really is manageable. Talks to much, but it shouldn't kill you. Nothing is too terribly hard, know lecture slides for test and you'll be fine. Quizes and such, mostly bold terms from the book. Nice guy, just talks too much about pointless crap at beginning of class.
If you want an easy A+ take Grimm. Seriously, everything is exactly off of the slides that he gives you. If you go to class and listen to him and study the slides you will do the best in this class than you've ever done in any other! Does talk a lot though
Great teacher. Alwayds offer extra credit for extra effort. His slides are very helpful and could be enough to earn B in this course ( bus-x 100). I would recommend this prof.
I had Grimm one year ago. He should teach marketing because he promotes Kelley more than anything else. "This is Kelley, okay." If I had one Dollar for every time he said that; I could buy his yacht in Northern Ohio. Very arrogant with nothing to show for it. He has been "teaching" for over ten years, which means he could not hold a real career.
Professor Grimm is a good teacher, he teaches exclusively from lecture slides. He is very easy to meet with even though the class size is large.
Take this professor for X100. You'll be glad you did. Everything is from lecture slides, as he tells you. Just pay attention and do all the work.
Awesome professor, awesome out of class team projects that help practically and great on resume. he knows his material and hwat he is talking about. His experiences and his lectures has alot of credibility behind it. goes by the slides but explains in real world terms well. if it is your major, definitely take it. highly recommended.
He loves to talk about himself, which may seem arrogant and annoying at times. Loves Steak n Shake and choco-nana milkshakes. He does make office hours very available, but you must contact his assistant, not him directly(!). Lots of busy-seeming work. Pretty easy class for an A even though everyone seemed to be failing.
Fair, but harsh. Sees teaching as a business, the kind where you should be happy to work, because why else would you take a class but to do work? Ignores questions during class, answers them by appointment. Expects Introduction to Business class to be familiar with dozens of small companies' CEOs. Would not recommend.
What a boring class!!!!! He RAMBLES about nothing.
Class is extremely boring, but you get attendance points for going. Lots of busy work, online quizzes before and after each class. Do not "NEED" textbook, I didn't buy one and have a solid B without any studying for tests. Talks about himself way too much and is very old school, no laptops allowed and cannot figure out his computer half the time.
Good professor, easy class
Grimm expects a lot from his students, but the online quizes take a total of 10-15 minutes if you look at the lecture slides while taking them. He also offers a TON of extra credit. Even if you do crappy on the exams, you can still get an A by doing easy extra credit.
Awful professor. Just awful.
The class is extremely boring, but Grimm tries to make it likeable. Does talk about himself a lot - sounds boastful at times but some of his stories are interesting. Easy A, and DON'T buy the book. Everything is from the slides.
great prof.
He'll give you the A with all the extra credit.
The lectures are boring but the class is pretty easy. The tests are fair. The homework is time consuming but its hard to get a bad grade on them. He gives you tons of easy extra credit opportunities that you want to take advantage of! The book is recommended by him but I never used it and got an A.
This Professor is GREAT! Out of 1000 points 100 of mine were all extra credit. You will want to introduce yourself to him beginning of the semester and have him know who YOU are. If you fail this class then you should think about changing your major because this is as easy as business gets. DONT BUY THE BOOK! I got 105% without it!
Grimm is a cool guy and relates his lectures to alot of his personal business experience stories. you dont really have to go to class tho as long as you have someone to sign you in... I got an A easily and didnt even do some assignments bc there is so much extra credit. tests are very easy as long as you look over his lecture slides
Very passionate about the class and KSBI. Just do all that is assigned and you should get a good grade. Try to attend all the classes. Gives alot of extra credit. Does talk in third person sometimes.
Make sure he gets to know you in the beginning of the semester and try to sit in the front row. He is easy to meet with although he teaches 400 students. Make sure you schedule appointments with his assistant 2-3 days in advance. Most of the work in class is based on his slides. There is tons of extra credit. I would definitely recommend.
The best
Great prof. Course work is easy, comes straight from slides. Exams were fairly easy as well, just pay attention in lecture. Examples tie together real life and classroom teachings. Soooooo much extra credit offered! I had an A in the class after the final not including my 68pts EC.
Excellent Professor! Sit as close to the front as possible and do all of the extra credit. The exams and quizzes are STRAIGHT from the slides and lectures. It is extrmely easy to get an A or at least a high B. (Textbook was recommended, but never used)
Very knowledgable in the world of business, but very disconnected from his class. He has close to 700 students, which makes paper grading take forever. Papers aren't returned, so you have to schedule office time with him to get feedback on your work. I went in to all of my case studies without knowing what i did wrong on previous cases. Easy A
Talks too much about other things that don't even relate to business. He doesn't talk about the actual material that will be on the upcoming exams. So much busy work too, almost like you are in high school. Not a fun class.
Though his lectures can be a bit boring, this is a prof who has real world business experience and if you listen, you'll catch some pretty intersting/educational stories. Does tend to name drop excessively (esp Ed Kelley). Only assignment that was not extremely straight forward was the group paper, but if you pick a good group you should be fine.
This teacher is great and offer lots of real world experience, disregard these few characters who had negative things to say about Mr. Grimm. He is by far one of my favorite teachers, and has plenty of teaching and real world business experience to offer those pay care about school. Very nice guy, cares about is students, good person.
If you have a background in accounting or mircoecon this class is very easy
In all honesty Grimm is a boss, you just have to figure him out. Don't mess around in class, engage during lectures, and seriously print the slides. Do the easy extra credit opportunities and did I mention the slides. You don't need the book if you study the slides.
Grimm is really cool! He talks about himself a lot but it makes class interesting. His lectures can get boring but the exams are not difficult and if you pay attention in class you will get an A!
He is extremely self absorbed and doesn't actually teach. He just reads off the slides. If attendance wasn't graded there would be no reason to attend his lectures.
He was not concerned with getting through the lecture slides at all. he would just talk about all the companies he has worked at and how good they were. He was not the best business teacher, but he know what he is talking about he just does not always teach to show it.
Incredible professor. He explains everything with great clarity. Go to his lectures, pay attention in class, read 1-2 chapters per week, take the quizzes, you will do well. Most importantly, I feel like I know SO MUCH more about business. Take his class.
Go to the lectures, study the quizzes for the tests, and take advantage of all the extra credit he offers! DO NOT buy the textbook. I never opened mine once. If you are adamant about buying one, buy the ebook. It could be helpful for the quizzes you take. Grimm gets off track during his lectures, but overall, he is a GREAT guy and his class is easy
Grimm is an excellent Professor. He has many real-life stories that he relates to lectures during class. If you follow along with his lecture slides and print them off, you will find the class easy. Make sure to do all case studies and extra credit and it should be an easy A.
By far one of my professors at IUPUI. He is very knowledgable and has experience in business. Others in my class complained about him but if you pay attention, and take good notes, you'll do just fine because the test are directly from his lectures. I definitely recommend him.
Super easy and fun lectures. Quizzes are right out of the lecture slides and if you get 80% or better on the pre-exams, no homework sets but he awards you the points anyway. Homework intensive class so get good scores on the pre-exams for a break. Easy A if you go to class and pay attention!
Grimm wasn't the best teacher, but his class was easy and he offere lots of extra credit. Go to class on Fridays.
This class for the most part is very interesting and it makes you want to attend. Grimm is a great teacher and sometimes he goes away from the slides but his stories are great and exciting. Tests are hard so must study. quizzes are not that hard but still have to study the book and class notes
This class is the key to the world of business. You will learn a lot about business from the integrated experience of professor Grimm to the theory of this course. Grimm will show you the guidelines on how successful people make it in the market place.
Very good teacher. The notes were the most helpful for tests and quizzes. Overall I did not struggle in his class.
If you want a good grade you need to go to class.
Grimm is a great professor because he loves his job and he loves his students. He takes the time to make sure everything makes sense for students. Very strict and wants the best for everyone. He puts his heart into his teaching and that made the class more enjoyable for me. Make sure you bust your butt and work hard!
Great professor, lectures are long and boring. Homework is easy but tests are difficult if you don't study and learn the material.
Great professor. Teaches from actual experience in the business world and that is important for the type of classes he teaches. Give him A+ effort, you are rewarded. Expect to slack, you might as well not even attempt to get into the Kelley School of Business because this guy will weed you out. Respectable man, respectable teacher, inspirational.
Grimm is an alright professor. He gives you the lecture slides but in class he just talks about himself and his experiences. During class we never got through all of the powerpoint slides. He likes to hear himself talk. There are a lot of assignments but most are easy. He offers a lot of extra credit.
Very good professor with a ton of business know how. Willing to help, and very clear. Boring at times
This teacher is not a good recommendation. Don't bother.
Fantastic teacher, definitely set up my whole college career better because of this teacher and class
Very serious. You must show participation and try to answer some of the questions he's presenting. Also, DO NOT get your things ready to leave until the VERY LAST minute of class, or he will not be happy.
nice dude but too self involved and not a great teacher. Expects people to be beyond students like this is the only class they take.
Grimm is a good guy deep down. He kind of rambles on about his life, but so do most professors... honestly, I made a lot of good friends in his class (mandatory group project) and learned a lot of basic knowledge that I will need to know the next 4 years. Just keep up with the info you don't already know and you will get an A.
So here's the thing, he's not the type of teacher who just gives you an A. That being said, he makes the class very simple to pass as long as you are willing to put effort into it. He offers a lot of real-world experience and actually cares about the business school. Only complaint is that his review classes for the tests are literally pointless.
Grimm is your ideal Kelley professor. He provides helpful slideshows and uses great visuals. He is inspiring. I changed my major to business because of him. If you're not going to put time and work into this class don't take it. There are no tricks to get an A. Just follow the instructions. He offers bonus points as well.
If you're planning on majoring in business, then he would be a good pick. If not, like many of the people, then you just end up hearing him talk about his life for a large chunk of class then rush through lecture slides. He seems to think that most people in the class are business majors, so he often makes things related to that.
Amazing professor! I truly enjoyed the class and his stories. He can be a hard ass at times, but he really does care for all his students and wants them to succeed. Class can be a bit rough at times homework wise so get ahead if you can. Do all your assignments, go to exam jams, extra credit (there's a lot), and there's no doubt you'll get an A.
Go to class because you get a point everyday you go. He talks way too much about himself and not the material. He is nice but the group project is horrible!
Great professor, he expects respect from student and gives respect back.
Professor Grimm is very experienced. He will give a lot of useful tips. His classes can be boring sometimes, but you get points for coming to class everyday.
He seems to believe the achedemic world only involves his class. He is liberal with homework and takes 80% of class to preach about how great his life is and the other 20% is a poor rush through vague lecture slides. He has projects that under minimum circumstances should be two weeks long in only one while still giving more work.
Made business fun and easy. Funny stories, sometimes repetitive, great group project, and be prepared for opportunities for extra credit.
Be ready to listen to him ramble on and on about his past experiences in the business world. Felt like i learned more about his life than I actually did about business. Lots of canvas quizzes. If you aren't a good test taker (like myself) choose a different professor.
Professor Grimm is a no nonsense professor. He expects a lot out of his students. Grimm wants his students to excel, but don't think an A will be easy to get. Quizzes and Tests are not to bad. 5 case studies, 3 are mandatory and the other 2 are extra credit. And group project, well make sure you choose your group wisely.
Grimm is an incredible individual. He really makes it known by telling his own experiences in class. If you don't like listening to people talk about themselves avoid this course. I really looked up to him and he taught me a lot about how to land a job! Difficult course, but gives a lot to add to your business portfolio. Take in-class notes!
Robert Grimm is super passionate about business! Go to every class NO MATTER WHAT! Study hard for tests. Do all assignments/quizzes - even if not required - every point counts! Print lecture slides and take notes during class. This course takes more time than most and can be stressful but you learn an awful lot from Grimm. Keep hope for your grade!
Very egotistical, will spend most of class talking about himself. Almost impossible to contact him outside of class via email. He will try to cram half of the lecture slides into the last five minutes. Talks down to students and very disrespectful. Hopefully retires before anyone else has to take this class. If not, good luck.
Each class we had like 2 quizzes and an assignment due . He lectured everyday but to me his lectures weren't helpful. There was an e-text that was very helpful.
I really like Professor Grimm. Starting the semester, my opinion of him was inconsistent. However, as time went on I grew to enjoy him as a teacher. Grimm is a very experienced professor with a lot of knowledge. He knows the material well and cares about being fair in grading. He respects students. I would highly recommend him. Class is fairly hard
Great professor but if you skip one class it's like you've been gone for the whole semester.
Solid professor who has experience in business and knows his stuff. It is a tough class but he prepares you well for exams and quizzes.
I had to drop his BusX100 because of difficulty. His in class lectures have nothing to do with his tests. His homework is extremely hard.
This class was on the harder side-at least for me. It was the first semester of the online e-text and there were several errors in the book and on the quizzes. The class is based off of points, attendance matters. If you do your work, read the book, and do your best on the quizzes it will pay off. STUDY for the exams, not easy.
Not a horrible professor, but his ego is out of this world. Most of the required work in the class has little impact on your final grade. Pretty easy A though. Lots of extra credit.
Great instructor who gives good feedback. Be professional, do the work, and there is no reason you shouldn't pass.
He's awesome. I wish he was going to stick around forever and teach high level business classes. He makes you work for it the way you should. He's respected by everyone, he respects everyone. He helps you learn how to be a business person. Business can be boring but he has always found a way to make it fun.
Grimm is very fair in his grading and teaches you a lot outside of just the classroom. The only times I heard negative things about him were from students that didn't come to class. If you show that you put in effort into the class, he will definitely reward you for it by bumping your grade at the end of the semester.
The best professor I have had so far, if you see any negative comments about him it's because those people didn't put in the effort to do well and probably slacked off then blamed it on him. Sucks this was his last semester so don't bother trying to get him.
Just study the slides for his exams and you should do amazing in the class. The class concepts are not tough. It is a great intro to Business course. Just print off the slides and look at them.
Grimm has a strange reputation of being one of the hardest teachers at the university, but that is far from true. The truth is he can add an amazing amount of mentorship and insight if you just DO THE WORK. Pay attention in class, do the online Cengage assignments, and most importantly study HIS slides. You'll get a great grade this way.
