GREAT TEACHER! He was one of the clearest and easiest teachers i heard about. definitely take
he gives dumb tests that bring your grade down. talks forever to make lab longer. DONT TAKE
A very clear, organized, and fair chemistry professor. He goes out of his way to help students and is willing to spend extra time explaining abstract concepts in a way that you can actually understand. He assigns a lot of homework problems, but if you do them all you'll do fine on the tests. He has a quirky sense of humor, but I got to like him.
I hated chem in high school and did very poorly, but Grosso teaches in a way that everything makes sense. He will go over a problem as many times as needed until it is understood. Very organized and prompt in returning exams, and always goes over them so everyone understands their mistakes! Highly recommend!
Love that man! Has a funny laugh, makes chemistry fun and easy. Very understandable. Highly reccomend, he is one of the best.
Best teacher this school has hands down. If you study you will do well in his class, his test are hard but chem is hard.theres no question take him.
Great Teacher!! Very clear..and if you follow his directions you will do well.
Great professor! Helped a ton with the lab and lab reports were easy. He is very down to earth and cares about the students. Definitely take him!
Thorough in explaining the material. Happily answers questions about what he's writing on the board. As a chem major, the class is almost too easy.
He is a good teacher and tells a lot of jokes. Though the material isn't always the easiet, he helps work you through. His tests can be a little difficult, but he gives plenty of easy one question quizzes to boost your grade... He even made cake for my class once.
Great professor, great guy, straightforward grading, no curveballs
He goes off on at least one funny tangent per class. Went through material at a great pace so everyone knew what was going on. If you have questions definatly ask because he will go through what youre asking until you get it.
Had him for chem 110, was't too bad. Struggling a lot for Chem 111. Tests are extremely difficult. His quizzes are very hard, it is common to get a 40 on most of the quizzes. All of the quizzes equal one test grade at the end, usually hurts your grade. He is an extremely smart chemist, but a little too harsh on grading.
Great professor! I had him for both Chem 110/11 and he always makes sure his students understand the material. Gives you all the formulas for quizzes/exams and curves exam grades. Just pay attention and ask questions and you'll be ok :)
Extremely smart guy, tries to be funny. Be sure yo read over and understand the lab prior to showing up because he may quiz you on it. Takes points off for every little thing on the lab reports and hands back your old one the day you hand a new one in, so its impossible to find out your mistakes. I struggled in the beginning, but gradually improved
Great teacher! I hated chemistry before coming to college, but Gross has made me really love it! He's great at explaining everything, makes sure everyone knows what's going on. Quizzes are super easy! but his exams are challenging, still worth taking him though!
Dr. Grosso has to be the finest chemistry professor at Quinnipiac. He knows what he's talking about, and he makes class fun and enjoyable. Just a great guy, all around
Prof Grosso is a really good teacher, i had him for lab, as long as you read the lab before class you'll be fine on the quiz. He is a really nice guy and very very helpful
Of the available CHE111 professors, I feel that Grosso is the most knowledgable and "easiest". The material is generally difficult to understand, but do the homework and meet with him outside of class helps a lot. There is one drop quiz, and all of the exams are curved. Overall, he's a good professor (if you can bare his sciency sense of humor)
Corny, nerdy jokes, but they're amusing. Explains things very well- tests are entirely off the notes, don't even look at the textbook problems, they'll just confuse you. Multiple choice questions on the tests are difficult though. Free response are exactly like the notes.
Awesome professor. He is very clear and helpful. Tests are tough but they aren't terrible. One of the best instructors I've ever had and would recommend him to anybody.
As a person, he's really helpful and really does explain the material well. However, his tests are incredibly difficult. He openly admits to putting on trick questions. If you really try and put a lot of effort into studying you can expect to get mid to low 80's.
Don't take anyone else for Chem 110 and 111. Even if you aren't great at Chem, put in the work and you can very well receive an A in this class. Has a great attitude and sense of humor. He curves exams, gives formula sheets, and his notes are clear and helpful. Best chemistry teacher I've had.
I do not recommend. I found this class to be extremely hard and I did not enjoy his teaching style. I did well in CHE110 with another professor, but I found myself struggling in his class. His quizzes were really easy, but his exams were almost impossible. I studied so much for his exams and always found myself barely passing them.
gross knows his stuff. he is really good at explaning everything and is more than helpful when it comes to extra help. but his quizzes and test are IMPOSSIBLE. def not worth taking unless you have taken a rigorous chemistry class prior.
Grosso is a very knowledgeable man. He knows what he's talking about. He makes everything that he's explaining seem crystal clear. However, on the tests he will toss you a problem that is so much harder than the ones he shows you in class. I had to drop him. I recommend only if you've had advanced chemistry prior.
His lectures are very clear and organized and class goes by quickly. It's evident he really knows what he is talking about. He likes to throw in tricky questions on the exams that are harder than the examples he gives, but he also scales the tests quite a bit. A background with chemistry definitely helps.
Grosso is the professor you want to take for chemistry. He is a solid state chemist and truly understands what he is trying to teach, and knows how to teach it or answer any questions. Take notes every class for the full period and quizzes and tests are based directly off of them. If you study the notes hard enough, you'll get an A.
Super clear professor, but his tests are EXTREMELY HARD. Quizzes are usually fair but even with an 100 quiz average your overall grade won't increase too much...
He is incredibly smart, and knows what he is talking about but can not simplify the topics enough to teach students who don't have a background in the subject. His tests are EXTREMELY hard, and gives open ended questions that are much harder than those given in class or on quizzes. Even though he doesn't collect homework, do it
Very good professor. Hard work, but he explains everything very clearly, and it is easy to pass if you pay attention and do the optional homework. I would take another class with this professor.
Great guy, funny and helpful. Tests are not easy so study, but he does provide great notes.
Very funny guy and a very good teacher. Just make sure you study hard for the testsquizzes.
Grosso is Awesome!!! He is always there to help you figure out equations for the lab report, gives a lot of quizzes but they are simple if you understand the lab. I highly recommend that if you get the chance, TAKE HIM. Awesome teacher, would take again.
Grosso is by far the best chemistry professor. He's willing to go above and beyond to help his students. I recommend taking him for lab and lecture to make some chemistry concepts make more sense. He's a jokester but you need to study and work to get a good grade in his class.
Dr. Grosso is a master of his craft. He knows Chemistry period. However, if you do not have an AP Chem background I do not recommend. Although curved, his tests are very difficult, and often more difficult than the examples he gives you in the notes. When studying, be sure to not just memorize HOW to do problems, but WHY they are done in that way.
Dr. Grosso is a genius in Chemistry. He knows everything, and he really does his best to try to help students understand everything; however, you will probably have a hard time in his class if you have not taken AP Chem in high school. His quizzes are not too bad, but his tests are ridiculously hard. He is a great guy, but be ready to study hard.
Chemistry is a difficult course but Grosso makes it fun and understandable. His lectures are well stated, but there are constant quizzes and the exams may prove difficult if you don't do the hw questions he posts on blackboard. He expects allot of time and effort and can be rude at times; however he always means well. I'd recommend!
Grosso is the best professor i've had. He knows his material, and is able to answer any question. While his lectures are all period and you take notes the entire time, he makes sure you actually learn the material. Be prepared to study. His quizzes are easy, but the tests are long. He wants to make sure you know concepts. Highly recommend.
Not doing well in chem in highschool, Grasso was a lifesaver. Goes through everything on the board, and test and quiz problems will be right in your notes. He does not abide by the text book, so you know everything he does in class is important. Little to no memorization, just straight up chemistry. Curves tests. Always available. Very fun class.
Grosso is honestly one of my favorite professors. Attendance isn't mandatory but I highly suggest going to every class. He tries to make the classes enjoyable and he really makes you understand the concepts. I've never opened my textbook. Quizzes and tests are based off of notes. Tests are curved and not bad if you study. Highly HIGHLY recommend
This class was next to impossible. The lectures were easy to sit through and I understood the material during class time and even with going to the SLC multiple, multiple times, literally was there more than I was in my room, and going to office hours multiple times as well, tests and quizzes were SO hard & I didn't understand anything. Withdrew.
Professor Grosso is a great teacher. He makes chemistry interesting and tries to tie it into real life. His tests are tough for some people but everything you need to know he goes over in class. His tests are really math based so if you're good at math you'll be all set.
I really loved Dr. Grosso as a person. His lectures are very clear and he understands what he's talking about. I've never had a chemistry teacher that was as good as him. The only problem is that his tests are EXTREMELY hard. Definitely take him if you want to be able to actually understand chemistry, but know that you're going to have to study
He'll either be your favorite or least favorite professor. He'll pick on you, but not in a mean way. There's a quiz pretty much every week, but they're not too difficult if you pay attention and study. The exams are pretty tough if you don't prepare, and they're most of your grade. Attendance isn't graded, just make sure you know the material.
Dr. Grosso is an awesome professor. His classes usually fill up quickly. He cares about his students and makes an effort to learn everyone's name. He does not give pop quizzes, and the tests are fair. Taking Chemistry in high school helps a lot. His lectures aren't dry and ensures that you understand the reasoning behind concepts.
I had Grosso for Chem 1 Lab. He comes off as kind of a tough mean guy at first, but he is obviously very very knowledgeable about this subject. He grades tough but is VERY clear with what he wants (in lab reports, on quizzes, etc). Once I got to know him, he was very good with helping in labs. He pushed me to figure things out myself first.
I took Grosso for lab in CHE110 and CHE111. I tried to take him for lecture because his lectures in lab helped me pass chemistry. Grosso is a tough grader on the lab reports but you can get an A. You will learn a lot about chemistry and will become a better lab student because of him. He is always available to help with lab work our lecture.
Grosso is a pretty good lab instructor. He goes through the lab and the math that goes with it before we start. He is very clear about what he wants on lab reports.
Grosso was a really good professor! I was a little scared to take him at first because I heard he was really hard, but it turned out he wasn't bad at all! He gives a lot of quizzes which are good to boost your grade. And his tests aren't bad- If you understand the homework, you will be fine!
Chem is a hard class no matter who you take. Dr. Grosso really made me understand the material and how to apply it. Not many professors are able to do this and just try to rush through the material. If you do not understand the material and ask he will spend time to make sure you get a good grasp of it. Probably one of the best professors for Chem
Not enough time supplied to understand material. Tests extremely hard.
Exams extremely hard with many hours of study, Quizzes similar to notes, Exams are not similar to notes or quizzes.
I'm not a fan of his teaching method. He expects you to know everything and if the class doesn't understand he gets frustrated as if we're not in the class to be taught?... however, you'll get a few laughs from him.
Dr. Grosso is the best. He doesn't use powerpoint slides but instead goes through every problem on the whiteboard. If you need help he is extremely approachable and willing to help you. His exams require alot of studying but they are fair. If you are in class and take notes, his exams follow the notes. There are no surprises on his exams.
Dr. Grosso is super awesome. He always wants his students to do well but will make you work to understand a concept. He has a few quizzes based on labs but for the most part they're not hard to do well on. He will pick apart lab reports though but he is hilarious and super enjoyable to have as a professor.
His teaching method is completely off the rails. His tests have absolutely nothing to do with what he taught and quizzed on and you won't see the questions on any of the previous reviews or board problems. His quizzes are fairly easy since he tells you what they are on. but the tests another story...
Grosso is annoying. He laughs at you if you don't understand material. He is a crazy hard grader. When grading lab reports he will give you an 18/20 and the next week give you a 13/20. It's a hit or miss with his grading. Quizzes are easy if you understand the calculations from the lab you did the previous week. Avoid if you can.
Grosso is great, I had him for lecture and lab and he really knows his stuff. He has a degree in English as well, so your lab reports have to be pretty perfect but he tells you exactly what he wants and how he wants it. His lectures are a good speed and encourages you to ask questions. He genuinely wants you to do well and understand.
Grosso appreciates questions and will be of immense help in office hours and after class. He really wants you to know the material. What he goes over in class is a simpler version to prepare you for what you must go over on your own. No homework is ever assigned, however, workbook problems are a KEY to acing quizes/tests. Scales tests A LOT.
He is a great professor but when it comes to tests he is very hard
Dr Grosso is near impossible to pass. No matter if I did every homework problem ten times over I would still do awful on the tests. His exams are NOTHING like the notes he gives in class and he often has to curve them 10-25 points to give people close to passing grades. Do not recommend.
Wants his students to understand the material but his quizzes/exams are extremely difficult. Prepare to use outside sources in order to grasp the material. His lectures aren't enough. He does make time for his students but rather condescending when you don't understand them.
Professor Grosso is a great choice for lab. He always gives clear pre-lab lectures and goes through the calculations you need to complete. Although he can be a little picky with grading labs, he will tell you exactly why you lost points if you ask him and give suggestions on how to improve. A very sarcastic professor! But he knows what he's doing.
Dr. Gross's class was the most impossible thing I have ever done. I would understand 100% of the material in class and do well on the quizzes but then when it comes to the tests you are essentially taking a shot in the dark. Nothing related to the notes and I would study for HOURS on end, even weeks in advance. 10-22 points curved tests every exam.
he is a great lab professor!!!! have quizzes every week on the calculations of the previous lab. has very clear grading requirements for lab reports. doesnt really explain things but helps you get there. i learn more about chem in this lab than i did in my lecture. take him!!!
Grosso is the type of fellow to give easy lectures, homework, and quizzes, but curveballs for tests. I would recommend studying if you arent already very knowledgeable in chemistry. Funny guy but condescending if you dont know the subject 100%. If you are planning to be a chemistry major Id recommend him.
Grosso is such a nice professor. He loves to joke. If you have not taken chem before, it might be a difficult class, but he explains everything step by step. There are around 10 quizzes (not bad). There are 4 tests and a final. There is always a curve on the tests to help you out. Goes over each test after to show you how to do it right for final.
Grosso is truly an awesome guy. He really knows how to teach to his students and curves every test. The class after every test is spent going over the entire test in great detail. Even though it is a hard class, he makes it enjoyable.
I liked Dr. Grosso's chemistry classes because I actually learned the material. His class was definitely not easy though. He moves through a lot of material in a short amount of time and will almost never let you out of class early. However, he does curve the tests and gives a lot of non-pop quizzes so one or two can be dropped at the end.
Dr. Grosso at first is hard, but once you get a test down and understand the material the way he teaches, then you will succeed in his class, as long as you apply yourself. Lectures are heavy but extremely helpful. Hard class, but a great professor to have for chemistry 110.
Worst chem professor ever! Does not know how to teach!
Personality is good and he is good at lecturing and answering questions. But, you'll think you know what you're doing and you understand everything until the test comes. His tests are VERY hard and he usually has to curve them ALOT for students to even pass. Wouldn't recommend.
Grosso isn't a bad professor, chem 111 just has very difficult material, especially if you're not really into chemistry. He explains concepts and calculations to the best of his ability and is always willing to help during his office hours. you'll hate his exams (especially the mc), but they're manageable. Good guy overall and he really cares!
Overall great professor! Easy to understand his lectures, and he is open to questions. My advice is to ask your questions if you are confused because it is a hard class and he is willing to help. Study frequently because there are quizzes often.
Grosso knows a lot about chem, and he can walk you through it easy enough. If you study you will get by fine for the first semester. There are a bunch of quizzes and a few exams, which are pretty similar to notes, but are long and require memorization. He will ridicule students who are confused and says some pretty ridiculous rhetoric sometimes.
Took Grosso for CHE110 and he was a fine teacher, not the best but not bad either. Second semester, when it comes to some more complicated chapters he's not good at explaining them. Is very rude to students and says some outlandish things. If you liked him first semester, beware, it's a completely different atmosphere second semester.
If you have to take him you'll be fine but try not to if you can. He gives quizzes almost every class. The take-home quizzes come right off of his notes but the in-class quizzes make no sense. The exams are extremely difficult since he is not straightforward in writing out the questions and if you ask him what he is looking for, he says to reread.
Professor Grosso made this course very challenging. A quiz every week on new material. Exams are extremely difficult because although he gives the lecture notes they're nothing like the exam. You have to go beyond the textbook and lectures to pass. No one ever passed his exams he always had to curve. Homework was my lifeline.
He's overall a fine teacher, nothing too special. If you get him he's not too bad, but don't go out of your way to take his class. He gave lots of quizzes, almost one every other class. His exams were pretty difficult, like scoring in the mid 60's - 70's, but he does curve. Make sure you do the homework, its a HUGE grade booster!!!
Oh my god, he is one of the rudest teachers I've ever had, If you don't already know chemistry like the back of your hand you will not do well. His tests are graded heavy and he is not kind to giving out help. I spent the most of the class lost and too scared of him to ask questions before I dropped it, wasting 200 dollars on the textbook. Avoid
avoid avoid avoid. Prof Grosso is an okay teacher, he lectures all class and makes everything seem easy, but class is not engaging. On exams he gives calculation problems that aren't even in the book and does NOT give any partial credit on calculation problems which KILLS exam scores. usually there is a quiz or 2 each week. rude too. avoid if u can
He is really rude. Everyone fails every single test and he still hasnt caught onto the fact that his tests are so much harder than the notes. Instead he mocks students that complain, and makes fun of everyone struggling. He brags about how smart he is and has some kind of superiority complex. Dont take.
Homework ends up being quiz grades, take forever, and if you do them they barely boost you but if you miss doing it your grade drops a lot. His lectures are boring and demeaning because he thinks everyone should understand it automatically. The tests are so much harder than the lectures or homework, and everyone fails yet he curves to C's and B's
He is an amazing lecturer, you actually understand what he conveys then. When it comes to quizzes and tests it's a different story. He has to curve the tests because no one passes. Has a god complex but can be rather funny at points if you have a sarcastic personality. Makes you work hard for a decent grade.
He makes a lot of jokes and then laughs at himself for a while. Hes pretty good at teaching and keeping you engaged.
Grosso is really great at explaining the material and making sure that everyone understands. Multiple choice on exams can be difficult but it is all touched on in lecture. Lots of quizzes, but a few are take home. Only 4 exams.
It is true Grosso is not easy, however the reason is because he wants you to understand the material really well/conceptually. Gotta give him credit he is really good at explaining the material. He def loves himself, is sometimes slightly rude to students, but he means well and likes to joke around. He loves chem and wants you to do well.
I genuinely liked grossos teaching style, his lectures are easy to understand and there is no doubt that chem is a hard course. However, I felt no matter how much I prepared and went over practice problems I was never ready for his exams even when I felt like I truly knew the material. He has a god complex but if you're sarcastic its funny
There really is not so much homework but really they just take hours. Grosso is funny and honestly accessible outside of class. The information is honestly hard and if you are struggling, GO TO THE OFFICE HRS AND STUDY TABLES!!! His exams are also extremely hard and you will have a lot of quizzes but he will drop the lowest in the end of the sem.
CHE111 is hard material as it is and Grosso does not make it any easier. Class is all lecture and practice problems. The exams are largely open ended calculations that are NOTHING like the problems gone over in class. Everyone fails the exam and he curves exams to make it look like his students pass. Still has not caught on that he is the problem
Despite what others say, I liked Grosso. He curves every exam, basically like +20 points, which helps a lot. If you have over a 100 you can skip the final! Lots of quizzes though, but he does that so he can drop the lowest grades. 3 major exams, multiple choice and open ended, just go over lecture notes and you'll be fine.
Lectures are always extremely helpful and does a ton of problems throughout. Tests are definitely really hard but there is never something on the test that he didn't go over in class. Gives a curve if a lot of people do really bad. Really good at answering emails. You need the textbook to do the assigned homework.
Grosso is a fun person and I loved him as a professor. His lectures are interactive and as long as you write down everything he puts on the board you have your own study material. His tests are hard but he curves every exam which can bring a failing score to a B. Content is hard but as long as you study and do OWL homework way ahead of time its ok
He's very rude and makes you feel stupid when you have a question. Exams are extremely hard and are nothing like the notes or lectures or owl questions. He curves which is a plus, but maybe there's something he needs to realize if he's curving by 20 points. I do not recommend taking him, save urself, chem isn't easy, he doesn't make it any better.
The way he acts towards students is as if he thinks he's so much better than everyone else and can never admit when he has made a mistake. Tests are super hard no matter how much you study, but always have a curve because everyone does bad on them.
Professor Grosso taught my summer CHE111 course. After reaching out for help numerous times I never received any. His exams were so bad he would curve them by 20 points every time because so many people would fail so bad. Don't take him if you can help it.
I enjoyed Prof. Grosso, a remarkably comical man. When it comes to tests and quizzes, good luck. All exams are curved by 15-30 points as they are insanely challenging. Impossible to study for. If you want a good GPA I would highly recommend getting with another professor. Only has zoom meeting hours and is almost impossible to meet with for help.
gives good lectures. you have to pay attention to do well in this class. tests can be tricky but if you took good notes you should be fine. lots of quizzes in this class and grades them tough. His laugh is very evil and has a good sense of humor at times. I would take him again, very nice and personable guy.
Take Prof. Grosso!! He's amazing. Best professor out there. He is incredibly smart and knowledgeable, patient and supportive of his students. He offers constant reminders and posts all the material on BlackBoard. He is very particular about requirements and the structure of his class, but also creates a happy and fun environment.
Professor Grosso is an extremely good professor and is great at teaching material effectively. He is very willing to help students and is accessible easily by email. Although, his exams are significantly more difficult than any other professor for this course. So, if you don't have a background of chemistry it will require a great deal of studying.
I took Dr. Grosso for Chem110 and 111. He is an amazing professor as far as teaching goes but his exams are extremely difficult. In order to do well you will have to dedicate a lot of time studying the concepts, the math isn't hard but the multiple choice is brutal. If you want to learn chem, he is the professor to take but you will have to work!
Everyone failed the exams and was constantly confused, but the curves saved us all.
His lectures cover exactly what you need to know for the exams and he always gives conversions (with the exception of some simple ones like grams to mg). Exams have a curve and as long as you put in the time to understand or to ask questions you should be fine. I am taking him again next semester.
1000% recommend taking Dr. Grosso if you want to actually understand chemistry. If you make the effort to actually pay attention in his class, you'll do really well. Exams are really hard and you need to study extensively to actually do well. Luckily, exams are scaled significantly. Also, be prepared for tough quizzes.
Very tough grader for lab, but he does do great with explaining labs and helping you to understand it. He does want you succeed on your own so sometimes he not very clear on exact instructions. He is very easy to access outside of class. Would take again but expect to spend a lot of time on work.
yeah he hard, awesome lectures but lowkey (highkey) has really hard tests and quizzes.
Dr. Grosso is the best! He curves his tests arithmetically and usually adds 15-20 points. He has great lectures and writes everything on the board. He holds office hours 3 times a week which is really helpful for tests. Tests are usually 1/3 multiple choice points and 2/3 long form answer points.
You'll get a very strong understanding of chem but be prepared to study a lot. Exams are more concept based and they are very tough but almost every exam was curved by at least 10%. Can be intimidating at times but as long as you pay attention he is a good professor and you'll learn chemistry.
BEST Chem lecture professor. His lectures explain the material perfectly. He is incredibly smart and wants his students to do well. His exams are difficult however they are often curved by 10-25 points. If you listen in class, take notes and practice the problems he does during lecture you will do well on quizzes and exams. TAKE HIM
THE BEST CHEM Professor, his lectures are great, and is very knowledgeable about chemistry. Chem is a difficult subject, but he explains it in a way that everyone understands. His tests can be difficult, but he does curve. There are also quizzes, but they aren't usually that bad. Overall an amazing professor, you should take him!
Great lectures, caring teacher, and he makes sure you understand what is being taught, and he is accessible outside of class. He made me like chemistry. Take him if you can
Dr.Grosso is truly one of the best professors at Quinnipiac. He takes a daunting course like chemistry and creates a classroom environment that feels safe and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.
He is very nice but too knowledgeable for his own good. He goes through the content very fast, but I highly recommend rewatching his lectures on Blackboard since he posts all of them. His tests are extremely difficult so you must understand the content in-depth to do well.
Grosso was a great teacher. he walked us through problems and made us think during class. open to answering questions. He's kinda quirky and makes tons of jokes about his students but I enjoyed the class. Plenty of notice for tests but they could be tricky. Tons of quizzes to help boost your grade. He also curved exams.
He's a good professor but if you ask for help during a lab he won't just tell you the answer. He makes you think it out and helps guide you in the right direction. He assigns different lab partners each week. takes a long time to explain the lab but at least you know what to do. lots of lab quizzes but drops lowest lab report and quiz grade
Dr.Gross is an amazing professor who tries his very best to ensure that all of his students have the help that they need. Chem is incredibly difficult but Grosso tries his very best to make the information make sense.
I think Grosso has good intentions for his students, but he comes off a little stuck up sometimes. His tests and quizzes are very hard, and they seem to come faster than they should. Would recommend if you like chemistry and have prior knowledge, but it is definitely a challenging class.
Chemistry is going to be hard no matter. Grosso is fine. The lectures are painful to sit through but you make it out alive. He gives partial credit. Exams are like the problems in the notes so make sure to do those. Overall, I would take him again if I had to take chem again but thankfully I'm done after this semester.
Dr. Grosso is the best chemistry professor by far. He is so sweet and helpful. He curves every exam and drops the lowest quiz grade. His lectures are very understandable as long as you pay attention. If you redo the questions in the notes for the exams you will definitely get at least a B. He answers emails very quickly. He truly wants you to pass.
Dr. Grosso is the best chemistry professor by far and is so sweet and helpful. He curves every exam and drops the lowest quiz grade. His lectures are very understandable as long as you pay attention. If you redo the questions in the notes for the exams you will definitely do well. He answers emails very quickly and truly wants you to pass.
I really enjoyed being in Dr. Grosso's class. I think that I had a hard time in the beginning of the semester because I expected class to be easy. DO NOT EXPECT THAT. Gen chem 2 is hard. But Grosso honestly makes class easy. He provides online lectures that you can study from and his peer fellows are always helpful. He also curves tests like crazy.
Dr. Grosso is a great guy and wants all of his students to succeed. His class is hard, but he provides a lot of resources for you to do well. His exams are always curved, and he gives quizzes that can bump up your grade. You definitely need to put in a lot of time and effort for this class.
He is the best. I never knew much about chem before entering his class in the fall and I ended up being exempt from the final both semesters. His exams are difficult but if you practice using his lecture notes and quizzes you will do fine. He is smart and wants students to do well. He curves exams and is always available if you have questions.
Grosso is a great prof. He actually cares about his students and is very passionate. His lectures are great but the material is hard so you have to pay attention and study. He also curves his exams, but they are difficult. He encourages participation in class and answers questions thoroughly. He gives a ton of quizzes but they're not too bad.
Do not take him for lab. Very tough grader
good teacher and wants you to succeed. I had a girl who never shut up, which made it hard to learn, but despite that, he was a great teacher. his tests are hard, but they are curved. GO TO THE PEER MENTOR SESSIONS. the questions are almost identical to the tests and quizzes and will help you a lot. always available via email and is a chill guy
Professor Grosso's chemistry class is challenging but rewarding. Attend lectures, use the textbook and resources like Unstuck ai, and you'll gain a strong grasp of the material. Exams are tough but often curved, so stay focused and you'll do well.
Controversial, but I love Dr Grosso. Super interesting lectures (for chemistry). Lots of quizzes, but they're not too hard. Tests are harder, but curved a lot. Online homework is often harder than the tests. Pay attention in class and study, you'll be fine. Peer review sheets are great review. Will be taking again
I think that Dr. Grosso does an amazing job of teaching a hard topic and makes it easy to understand if you are willing to put work in outside of class. Exam are challenging but they are curved though. If you study and go to office hour, you should do well.
Professor Grosso is definitely the best professor ever. He is so willing to teach you until you understand it. His exams are pretty difficult but go to review session and know his quizzes and everything in lecture you'll do fine. His classes are so funny and definitely not boring which makes chemistry much better than it actually is.
Does not use presentations but hand writes the lectures on the bored which I find extremely helpful because it is super easy to follow and keep up. And if you miss a lecture he has videos of lectures from when he taught the class online that are always available in blackboard. Exams are hard but he adds a curve. Definitely take him if you can!
Does not use presentations, handwrites lectures on the board - super easy to follow and keep up. Exams are pretty hard but he adds a curve at the end. Super funny guy, definitely knows his stuff and cares about getting students to know and understand as well. Definitely take his class if you can!
I like him, but a lot of people don't. Goes through material fast, so if you miss class you won't do too well. He teaches so you understand the material, more or less. Gives a couple quizzes for each unit. Definitely go to peer tutoring sessions, especially before exams. Grades pretty hard on them, but will curve to some extent. Best of luck to you
THE WORST TEACHER, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is obsessed with himself, and expects you to know what he knows so he never explains anything. Granted if chemistry comes easy to you then you should be okay but if you struggle he is not the teacher for you.
Dr. Grosso was truly the best professor I've ever had. I took his class my freshman fall and was nervous at first, but he explained everything so clearly and made learning fun. He is very funny. I absolutely loved him—no one compares to him. He's truly one of a kind and the reason I'm doing so well in organic chemistry today.
Head gen chem professor, very knowledgable, but made general chemistry 110 lab so much more stressful than it had to be. He was not very kind when asked questions. He tries to get his students to the right answer but honestly just drags it. Achieving an A is possible but there are def easier professors. He nit picks a lot on the reports.
He was helpful with writing on the whiteboard alot, I just struggle with chemistry and ended up withdrawing from the class. I felt like we just moved too quickly.
I found him hard to learn from. I struggled through his class the whole semester but he's funny.
While I enjoyed some of his lectures, he overcomplicates everything. He is very full of himself, and you won't get one lecture where he doesn't mention his phd. One issue we had this semester was that he was unscheduled, so our 3rd exam was pushed off, and we ended up not doing it, and we had to learn it all ourselves and were very behind.
Dr. Grosso really knows everything about chemistry, and you will learn that very quickly by the way he flaunts his knowledge. His lectures are great and he really is a good teacher. There are a bunch of little chapter quizzes, and three big exams. If you put in the work and study, you'll be fine.
When half the class is failing it's quite telling how bad of a teacher he is.
He's a phenomenal lecturer and gives all the tools necessary to pass his class. As long as you take notes and show up, you'll be fine. It's chem so its not easy but he tries to make everything understandable and helps as much as possible.
Prof Grosso was great, he posts all of his lecture videos and notes on blackboard which is extremely helpful. His exams are notoriously difficult compared to other chem profs, but he gives you everything you need to pass, gives partial credit, and there is ~a 20 point curve on every exam. and if you end with a 100+ you dont need to take the final!!
