The best! He made a boring book much more interesting and always added practical tips that were great! I came away from every class learning something and hated missing class! He also bends over backwards to see students succeed! Serious class but isn't extreme like so many bad teachers!

He def made Speech class fun to be in so you wouldn't be bored. Mainly you'll have to do 4 speeches, pop quizzes, extra credits, homeworks and 2 exams. My advise to you is don't fall behind in class and make sure you do your speech on the day that you signed up for.

Best teacher thumbs up! When it come to a speech he will make you so comfortable that you won't be stressing! Very easy grader! Make sure you in class, read the book, and just do what he tells you and you will get an A or a B! If you won't get an A or B you probably ate paint chips as a baby. One more thing Gynn is hilarious =]

Great teacher. Made the class super easy and fun. Unique sense of humor. Just come to class and do the speeches on the day you signed up for and you should be golden. Tests are easy; you just need to skim the book and know vocabulary. If speaking isn't your strong suit I highly recommend Mr. Gynn. He makes students feel comfortable.

He is a great teacher! He will share examples good speech and bad speeches. He believes in his students and makes you feel comfortable. Reading the book helps A LOT! He expects you to read 2 chapters a week and gives you quizzes on one of them, it's mostly common scenes so its really easy. He also gives many opportunities for extra credit.

He is a good speaker. The quizzes are super annoying, even though its multiple choice and based off the book - i would still get C-s and B-s most of the time, which is annoying. Try to take the class seriously and prepare for each speech. Follow the guidelines in the rubric, make sure your speech has everything he is going to grade you on.

Pretty laid back class and he makes you feel comfortable. You have to go to class to understand what's going on and how to prepare for your speeches. Follow the rubric and his feedback after you have presented your speech to improve for the next one. Overall a good class!

I, like many students, dreaded taking a speech course, but I am so glad to say that it was totally worth not dropping this class in the beginning of the semester. He made everyone pretty comfortable and gave us good feedback. In the end though, as long as you prepare for your speeches and practice, you will get an A.

mr. gynn was easily one of my favorite teachers at oakton. i hate giving speeches, but he still made the class something i looked forward to. he is funny,kind, and personable. he is enthusiastic about speech, professional with his students, and a very fair grader.

I used to be very anxious about giving speeches prior to this class. Afterwards, however, I am now more relaxed than I have ever been doing so. He is a great professor and very fair grader. As long as you prepare your speeches, you'll do fine. You also have to take some quizzes, a midterm, and final, but you'll be fine as long as you read the book.

Really funny guy and keeps class interesting. Make sure to prepare well enough for the speeches and go through the book before the quizzes. Class is pretty interesting and NOT boring. He teaches well

He is the best teacher I have in college! He makes class fun and has a great personality. He teaches the criteria clearly and also explains assignments very clear as well. He is somewhat of a hard grader but if you prepare for your speeches you will be fine. He is also very understanding about making things up and very helpful if you miss anything.

Gynn is awesome! You won't regret taking his class! He knows how to make speech class fun and less nerve wrecking. Plus,he doesn't give much homework either! Just read the chapters before the exams and make sure you are fully prepared before giving a speech. You also get extra credit for dressing business casual on your speech days :)

Very good teacher, makes class fun and is very clear what he expects in your speech. Only downside is that you have to read the chapters and he gives tests based on them, which was annoying but wasn't that bad. Would recommend taking his speech class.

Gynn is the best! He is so funny and did a great job at making us all feel comfortable which is important especially for a speech class. I felt more like I was talking to my family rather than strangers whenever I gave a speech. He is a tough grader but he is very fair; you need to work for that A but it is definitely possible.

Honestly such a great professor. One of the most nerve wrecking classes, but he makes it so much better with his personality. His tests are somewhat hard, but the speeches aren't too bad. Remember, it's just a speech.

Professor Gynn is a great professor. He uses school equipment to help his students understand speech more effectively. He can be funny, but also serious ; kind of like a dad. He'll make sure you become very confident in yourself to give speeches, as well as give feedback on your speech. Textbook is needed to pass the quizzes and tests.

I had Mr. Gynn for ENG 121 and CMM 121 at College of Lake County. I can honestly say he is one of the best teachers I've had! Especially for a speech class. He made me feel comfortable with myself and he is a hilarious teacher. He is very clear on what he expects.

Probably an ideal speech teacher. He's got a humor shtick that he's clearly been working on for years, but it works. It works well. Textbook is used moderately during the exams and he gives extra credit if you bring your book. Only downsides: he doesn't use D2L (website) at all, and the tests are either departmental or drawn from online sources.

He's a really good teacher, has humor and makes class enjoyable. However doesn't use D2L so you have to keep record of all your grades. The tests and final are based on chapters from the textbook, some of them are really easy though so you don't need to read. With speeches make sure to stay within the time limit. Overall a good professor.

Very nice guy! He's funny and makes sure everyone felt okay before going to speech. Get the book because he gives extra credit if you bring it during a test. He isn't an easy grader for speech though, just make sure you dont speak too fast and the length is good. For those who love eye candy, he's so DADDY lmao! Take his class! You wont regret it.

Best class I've taken at Oakton!! He knows his stuff and knows what he is doing. Good feedback and always makes it interesting. I really looked forward to class and actually really enjoyed doing the speeches even though I super nervous. He makes it so much better and is also hilarious. This was my third attempt at speech class and my last!!

I'm always super nervous for speeches but this class helped me build some confidence. Very funny and tries to calm down nerves before a speech. He has very clear cut grading criteria so expect to prepare a good speech. Only bad thing is the written exams, which you have to study on your own, but he will tell you what you should know.

Robert Gynn is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is hilarious and is specific about his grading. I was extremely nervous before the class began, but soon he made me and all the other students comfortable. As long as you study before exams and prepare for your speeches, you should be set. His personality is what makes the class the best!

I took his 3 week summer class. It was a bit hard due to the fast paced but its an easy class and youll expect what you get. He is so funny and very very respectful. He makes class go fast and will always show up with a can of Bubly. Youll succeed in this class if you put in the work. Take him if you dont want class to drag.

I loved professor Gynn! I took his summer course and he was so fun! He made a 4 hour class go so quickly. The small class allowed for more personal relationships and he was super helpful with our speeches (especially those of us with lots of nerves). I would 100% recommend this class with Gynn!

Robert Gynn is one of my favorite professors I have taken so far. At first, when I opened up the website page for his class I saw so many assignments so I got scared. As the class continued I realized he gives you lots of time to complete the assignment more than you will ever need. He also a very nice and very understanding professor.

Professor Gynn is a very straight-forward and sarcastic guy. Makes it very clear if you don't attend Zoom you'll have a hard time understanding what's going on. Very clear on expectations and grading. Overall really straightforward class, easy A or B if you actually put time and effort in. Three speeches for semester, I would say they get easier.

Even though I hate speech, but Prof Gynn made it bearable! He was extremely nice and funny. Even though the summer course was 3 hours long, he did not make it dragged at all. Speech class was very enjoyable and tons of extra credit to keep your grade up! I would HIGHLY recommend taking the speech required course with him!

One of my favorite professors of all time. He is so accommodating and helpful, I was super nervous going into the class initially but he truly makes everyone feel so comfortable. 100% recommend.

Professor Gynn was great throughout the semester. He allows you to miss class three times, provides about 7-10 extra credit opportunities. Although he is a bit of a tough grader if you follow the grading rubric you will pass with a "B" at worst. He does show up a couple minutes late to a lot of classes and does take 2-3 days to reply to your email.

Professor Gynn had a syllabus that was very accurate and made it easy to stay on track. We always reviewed it at the beginning of class. I took the summer session. It goes quick. Pay attention. Stay on top of your assignments. There are TONS of opportunities for extra credit. He is wonderful at what he does. Engaging, caring, and funny.

Great professor, you have three speeches you do in class, and you have to give it your all or else its hard to get a B or higher in any of your speeches. He does give extra credit though so that's a plus. Only thing I didn't like were the three exams we had on the textbook reading. Overall, funny and caring professor!

Amazing professor, I took a speech 101 class this past fall with him and never spoke to an audience prior. I went from crying about my first speech to being excited to deliver my last one. He makes class very enjoyable and I was always looking forward to coming in. Super easy going and will boost your public speaking confidence.

I took him over the summer. I hate public speaking but by the end of the 3 week course, I felt so much more confident. There is a partner speech you'll have to do. And on the first or second day, we had to say a speech about ourselves. He is super kind and wants you to succeed!

I was always so excited to come to his class. We would read this syllabus at the beginning of class and he would remind us about deadlines. When it comes to grading speeches, he's fair. His class was easy as long as you take time to prepare for each speech. The only thing is that he doesn't use canvas, so you never know your grade.
