Very good teaching method, kept the class interested in a difficult subject.
Dr. Hahn is a wonderfully skilled instructor with a very interesting style.

has the best presentation of anyone i've seen class and panel discussion
...Easy if you attend class
Very fascinating, always energetic, very intelligent.
This guy is wired, this class was the most fun I have ever had
Awesome teaching style. So much energy!
keeps class interesting-- only problem is ga's for section
He is the best teacher i've had this semester. he keeps class interesting and knows how to keep us interested
HE IS THE BEST COLLEGE PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. HE IS SO TALENTED AND SUCH AN INSPIRATION. HE DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB IN KEEPING HIS STUDENTS INTERESTED. WOULD RECOMMEND TAKING HIS CLASS...JUST GO TO CLASS AND READ YOUR BOOK, GUARANTEED A. HAHN ROCKS A+++
Excellent teacher
The class is so interesting but I feel....... "BRAIN WASH"
Best course I took at Southern. Hands down.
Hahn rocks
TOUGH CLASS, BUT HAHN IS DEFINETELY THE MAN.
I dislike him and the course it was a waste of my time. and he wasn't helpful to me at all.
Great teacher, but look out, he's HYPER!!
I love this class and I love his energy.
very easy. fun class to take!

What a great professor, he truely cares about the subject and his students. I did the study abroad trip with him to Egypt and it was the experience of a lifetime!!
great teacher. I learned a lesson from him: Dont take the class if the prof. wrote the book to the class. But still, awesome teacher. loves his students blah blah blah
Most entertaining class i have ever taken!!!
He is very hyper and crazy in class but it kept me interested in something I didn't even want to learn about. I loved this class...you never know what he will say or do next.
I really liked this guy. he was a good teacher and I geerally enjoyed the content of both of the classes I took. I recommend taking his classes, but make sure you register early b/c they get filled fast.

Ethics class is very interesting no matter what side of the arguement you are one. Logic is more memorization and math.
This guy is a joke. An absolute joke. I wish that this rating system allowed me to judge easy as a bad thing.
This class was really hard, but he goes over almost everything before he starts the new stuff. He makes it easier to understand than if you just read the book.

Keeps me very interested in the class.. I would recommend this class to anyone. He might be a little out there, but he is very good at what he does, without a doubt.
amazing man he kicks ass!
This guy blows his book he wrote which makes no sense to anyone but him and the whole class is a joke as well as he himself.
This class is hard. For being a senior in my last semester, I have never had to study so hard for a class before. The 1st test is ALL memorization. You have to write out definitions word for word. Waaaay too hard for a stupid 100 level class.
hes halarious and brilliant and keeps me very interested. BEST TEACHER EVERRRRR
Good professor is a fun class but you have to take some time to study the material out of class
fun and interesting
IF you go to class it is any EASY A. There should be no complaints about professor Hahn, you can't find many teachers that are better than him!!!!
As long as the student actually pays attention the material is EXTREMELY well covered.
he was my favorite teacher! i took logic with him and i am taking ethics next semester. the material is only hard if you fall behind. hes really funny and goes over things over and over until you understand it. he is really into his job and loves the class!
Don't ever think about talking or reading the DE in lecture...he will tear you apart!
pretty easy class. dont really need the book if you pay attention in class. gives you the questions in class. how could you argue with that. its funny how he always starts class at the exact second
sharp smart writes own t book
Probably one of my favorite classes ever taken. The concepts are far from boring, and relevant in a society that looks to deductive reasoning for all its answers (I have used sections of his papers toward many other papers since). The field trip is interesting too. Take advantage of this class if you are an honors student. Recommended.
Took his Ethics and Logic class. Of all the classes I've ever taken, these 2 are my favorite. If you go to class, and pay attention...you WILL get an A. Hahn is always enthusiastic, and has plenty of energy. He will have no mercy for those people who don't pay attention or interrupt his class though. Don't miss out on taking his classes.
I had Hahn for Ethics and I absolutely loved the class! I know he wrote his own book but I thought it was actually really interesting! He keeps lectures interesting and covers everything extremely well. He gives you the test questions before the exam, you just have to be prepared. Easy A
The best class I have ever taken. Dr. Hahn is an amazing teacher and keeps everyone in the lecture hall entertained.
Dr. Hahn is the best professor I have ever had. His class is the only class that I still remember things from since I finished my undergrad. The book, however, is too expensive for what it is. He is awesome though.
Great teacher. Keeps class well entertained, but also lose them all for unnecessarily stopping class to "bark" at one student in the last row for texting because THEY are "disrupting" the class. Very smart guy though, Logic class was sort of difficult for me, but he is very patient and helpful during lecture.
Very good teacher! Knew what he was talking about. Lecture attendance is not required but go to the class because he goes over the material constantly, so when it comes time for the test, you barely have to study! Practice tests are in the book (which Hahn wrote) and are exactly like the actual tests! I highly recommend him if you take this class.
Amazing teacher. He is very helpful and clear. He is ambitious for his topic and he assigns just the right amount of work. His tests are hard but he lets you practice them in advance. He is full of himself but its more humorous than anything. He also assigns a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Best teacher in the country... bar none!
Great teacher! Very excited to be teaching and is sure to keep you engaged. Starts on time and teaches the whole time. Best professor I've had!
Professor Hahn is great. Watching him lecture is like watching a performance by a stand-up comic-- and a good one at that. He is clearly dedicated to his courses, his students, and he makes you want to learn the material.
Very enthusiastic! If volunteer to answer his questions in lecture and get it wrong he'll make fun of you. You need to go to class. He wrote the book and the only way to get a good grade is to learn it the way he teaches it. I missed one lecture and was lost for 2 weeks! I hate this subject but he's not half bad and the glass was easy enough.
Probably one of the best classes of my whole undergraduate experience. He is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable professor. Highly reccomended.
Even though the class has absolutely nothing to do with my major, I loved it. Since it is an honors class, you should expect it to be more difficult. I can see the aspects of the lecture everyday, especially in my math and science classes. I would definitely recommend "The Irrationality of Western Science."
I highly recommend the Ethics class (Phil 104). I view life in a completely different manner, and strongly believe these topics should be discussed in high school. Pay attention and study for tests, then it's easy. (I would recommend staying away from the logic class though - completely different)
One of the best professors I've ever had at SIU. He literally cares about the students and wants them to succeed. Whether you take PHIL104 or PHIL105, you'll enjoy Robert either way. He starts class at exactly the time it's supposed to start, shows you how dedicated he is. :-)
I thought philosophers were intellectually independent of political trend. This class and department seems designed for the remedial and nationalist student, namely those who accept ordinary, corporatist education. Other classes in this department are just as useless, IF you are someone who truly wants to think and learn critical thinking.
If you want a good grade go to every class even though they aren't mandatory. The material is difficult to understand if you miss any class. It's a great course and Professor Hahn is a great professor.
This class is a total joke. If you have a pulse, then you will pass. Hahn is a decent teacher, however, he teaches very biased by providing a lot of arguments for one side of an issue, but then completely ignoring the other side. Thus, have fun as he attempts to program you like one would a robot!
Dr. Hahn is one of the best teachers at the University. He's taught at Harvard and Yale so he has high expectations for his students. It's not a hard class to pass, you just have to listen to him and pay attention in lectures.
Always very clear on what is expected in the class
Always very clear on what is expected in the class. Very enjoyable lectures.
Easy professor, sounds like Gilbert Godfrey. TA's grade all your work. Test are super easy. Do your homework and go to section. Its an easy A
honors class. first question i asked he said we did not have time for review. review what? there was no mention of a prerequisite for this class. dropped class after first meeting. just for info, i was an A student in most of my other classes.
Hilarious. Entertaining and captivated the class with his excitement about the subject. Calls you out for cell phone use. Just show up, be respectful and itll be a breeze.
Simple class. More effort was put in the small group assignments than for tests.
He does the most interesting lectures i have ever heard!! you need to take him!
Funny guy, very helpful, makes it easy to learn, DO NOT BE ON YOUR PHONE and be wary about taking notes on your computer. this man calls for your utmost attention and respect. he is a fantastic instructor so I dont even bother with my phone. If you take notes on your laptop he makes you sit up front to be monitored that your not tweeting or stuff
This is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken but I still found it sort of interesting. Dr. Hahn sounds like a used car salesman during his lectures and always wears over the top suits. He begins every class with "I would like to begin straight away." He writes his own book and its very expensive. You won't be able to find it on Amazon.
Im the kind of student who would miss class but i would never miss his, his lectures are awesome, he gives the test questions in advance and he is super flexible with finding time to help you.
For those who enjoy learning, he has a lot to offer. If you don't like to think and question yourself you will not appreciate him or his lectures. He has much insight and it has made me grow as a person. A+
Dr. Hahn is difficult, and very much an acquired taste. That being said, once you know him and understand his teaching methodologies, he is by far one of the best and most intellectually expanding professors I have ever personally taken. He is more than willing to work with students, and puts forth a 110% effort in expanding his students' knowledge
His class was one of the few classes that I felt confident in. The only thing I didn't like was spending $120 on a work book that he wrote. You need the work book in order to pass. Don't skip this class, trust me, you actually want to show up, he makes it interesting.
Dr. Hahn is VERY dedicated and compassionate about philosophy. I was not super interested in the topics, but he definitely made my brain work and consider a lot of situations that I would have never thought about. He is an awesome teacher, but the tests can be difficult. Overall, he knows his stuff, and he adds humor to the class so that helps. :)
Robert Hahn scams you by writing his own books, making them mandatory for class, and charging $150 for them. He then continues to make it worse by making the books have rip out pages that your homework is done on. I always had enjoyed philosophy classes until I took his. His lectures are boring and all over the place and his tone is condescending.
Professor Hahn teaches way different than any other college professor I've ever had. He repeats things many times in his class to make sure you know it! I honestly believe he wants every student to get A's and tries his hardest for you to. Attendance is not for points but to learn the material it is mandatory. The book alone does not teach you.
The lectures are actually very interesting and really make you open your mind to other points of view. I wasnt a fan of how the book was identical to his lectures, but you still needed to spend $150 on it for the worksheets in it. But the tests are essays that he gives you the prompts to the class before and then picks a random one for the test.
He is a funny guy. He tries kinda too hard. He will kick you out for being on your phone. This man is a savage he does not care. He doesn't like to be disrespected. He goes in depth and uses solid examples. He gives you all the questions before the exam. Failing is pretty hard, just hope you have a good TA.
Had the great Idea to change logic into memorization. If you actually wanted to learn Aristotle's logic, you got the wrong professor, this is just a cheap chemistry class. Further he wastes most of the test time complaining about where you sit. Really wouldn't recommend this class, would have switched if it hadn't fit my schedule well.
Have to buy book written by the professor, must be new, about $150. The book is poorly written, and the chapter on rape is triggering without warning. Do not expect him to listen to your opinions or show much respect. I would recommend avoiding if possible.
Hes very punctual with class start and end time. No sitting on the back row. Will stop lecture to make students put away cell phones. Meeting for group is mandatory, lecture isnt but he wont give you the notes if you miss even with a doctors note. You must buy the book (he wrote it)
Did not know what this course was about. He teaches too fast and crams a lot into one day. He doesnt stay on one subject too long, which is why I struggled. I would not take a course like this again:
Really no need to go to lecture as long as you read the book.
Personally, I thought he was a great professor. I am not the best reader so being able to go to lectures and listen to him was better for me than reading out of the textbook. However, if you know reading is your preferred way to learn, you didn't have to go to lectures and you would be fine going to the TA classes with that material too.
Old school but really funny. Wore a tie everyday even on Zoom. Really understanding and fun lectures.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hahn's class. I'm an older student and this class was eye opening even at my age. I thought he was a great lecturer and presented the material very well. There is a textbook that he wrote that is required. There is no homework and only three exams. There were 29 lectures but broken into three parts and exam after each part.
Great guy, and very intelligent. He explained the material in a way that stuck with you, and was constantly reviewing everything to make sure we understood it. The class had no homework, only 3 tests that were manageable if you paid attention.
High expectations for students that are just trying to get credit. Do fail one test or you're DONE.
Dr. Hahn is my favorite professor in the philosophy department at SIU. I have taken his online classes and really enjoy his pre-recorded lecture videos. They are incredibly helpful for the exams in his Ethics and Logic classes. He is able to make some pretty complex material fun and I enjoy being a student in his classes.
Hahn has an unconventional delivery of material. I'm never quite sure if I'll come away with a used car or not, at the end of class. He uses sound effects as if he works as a clown for a side hustle. Speaking of side hustle, you are required to purchase the book he wrote, which will be non-returnable because homework pages are torn out to turn in.
Dr. Hahn's lecture is okay. The only thing about this class is that because few students attended lecture, he started assigning two random mini pop quizzes from any day. If you get both right, you get a whole letter grade up in your next exam. Textbooks are mandatory as you need to complete the worksheet from the book, and turn it into your Ta.
Professor Hahn made engaging and intriguing lectures. WATCH THE LECTURES, and your grade will be fine. He also gives ample opportunity for extra credit to pad your grade. 10/10 would take this course again.
Whenever I attended Dr. Hahn's class, I made sure to read the assigned chapter in advance. When I didn't, it took much longer to absorb the material and take effective notes during the lecture. Despite that, I genuinely think Dr. Hahn is an outstanding philosophy professor with a great sense of humor.
A surprisingly unethical man to be teaching an ethics course. Choose your section wisely- TAs do all the grading in the course, Hanh actively avoids developing relationships with students Uses transphobic and racist examples in class (Not so ethical now) But I guess that's just impersonal harm according to him Hanh- update your course
weekly HW assignments, weekly quizzes, 3 exams, and $150 for the required textbook…nah this is not the 100-level class ur looking for don't take this class if you are queer, lecture is out of touch and offensive. he can't even get the letters in LGBT right
Very knowledgable teacher and does a great job teaching the material. The one negative is that sometimes he goes too fast and you lose track of what's happening and in this class you can't do that. If you have a good TA they will fill in the missing pieces that Hahn went to fast on. Overall an easy course if you go to every class and listen to TA's
Dr. Hahn was a terrible professor. Constantly spoke in a condescending tone to those asking for help. Yelled at you for where you sat in the classroom. Sounded like a used car salesman which really got old. Makes you buy the book that he wrote that he charges $150 for. Waste of time.
Professor Hahn has an old-school teaching style, but his lectures can be quite entertaining. While the textbook is mandatory, using unstuckstudy as a supplementary study tool can really help you stay on top of the material. Overall, a decent class if you put in the effort.
