What can I say, you HAVE TO take this class to graduate
we had 2 exams all semester both take home, but not much of what we covered was on it they both turned into group efforts, this was a night class i took
BORING
Be forwarned: it's a lot of work for a 100 level class. He's generally very boring and has his TA do EVERYTHING for him.
I liked the jokes he came up with. Interesting class.
For teaching a class many people don't want to take, Hall makes HIST 150 enjoyable. His tests are pretty straight-forward and he gives out handouts for each class. His favorite phrase is "as it were", so prepare to hear that constantly during c
Funny guy, interesting subject matter, I enjoyed this mandatory class (WTF?)
He appears as if he plans out exactly what he says and never changes, or ad-libs. This may or may not be a good thing.
lots of notes, but he was a pretty cool guy. as long as you study your notes, tests are alright. overall, i did like this class
This guy knew his stuff. As long as you take notes and go to the study sessions, you'll be fine.
HATED HIM! His SI's and TA's provided inaccurate info at study sessions and it was way boring. About 5 tests that require LOTS Of studying if you want a good grade. Waaay to difficult for a core class.
He is cool. if you pay attention, you don't have to studdy a lot outside of the class room. the SI and TA were crap but that is not his fault. he tells a lot of jokes during letures to keep you interested in the subject. even he gets bored sometimes, it is funny.
I loved the class!... It could get boring sometimes... but he liked to joke around... and for a history class it wasnt too bad... the tests you had to work to do well... but if you went to the classes and actually listened they werent that bad
As long as you come to class and pay atttention you can do fine in the class. HE tells jokes so he can keep your interest and attention during class. His TA is kind of a you know what though, but his S.I. guy is awesome.

As long as you come to class, pay attention, and take notes, the tests aren't hard at all. He can be quite funny at times, but other times somewhat boring. Then again, that's history for ya. He lightens up the "history" by cracking jokes.

For those who commented on his TAs: I was one a few years ago. It's hard to give accurate info about the test because the TA doesn't see a copy of it until you do. Just wanted to put that out there. The SIs can be of more help.
Show up to every class, listen, and read the book, and earn an easy A -- and learn a lot at the same time! Gives an outline for each lecture, and very accurate study guides. You can't go wrong unless you don't show up or won't read. Tests are very fair, bordering on laughably easy for those who have the "inside track" by showing up and reading!
The class was pretty easy.I just wish he wouldn't allow other people who do not have degrees to do so much talking.I really think that it takes away from the class.I would like to learn about what the professor can tell us that we do not already know, not for a student to give their expertise and professional insight on what everyone already knows.
Very, very smart man. I was in his class until the last week of the withdrawal period when I had to drop the class because of too many hours. So though I didnt finish out the class, I heard plenty of lectures. Definitely the most articulate professor I've had yet (and I'm a junior).
His classes were boring. He only grades based off of about 5 tests. Some of the test questions come out of nowhere. He did have study sessions to go to where the SI gave us similar questions that were on the test so that was helpful, but everything else was aweful. DO NOT RECOMEND HIM!!!
Great teacher, makes class easy and fun. If you listen to him, he is actually pretty funny... his jokes are usually subtle, but still funny. He uses study guides for class and for tests, and he follows them liberally. go to class, take notes beyond the study guide, and this class is an easy A
I don't think Hist425 is the right number. I don't know, I took the class several years ago. It's the Brit History class. It was so easy. My first 400 level class and it was my easiest in college. Just go and take notes and skim before tests. He's really cool and interesting, so that's a perk. Take it for a gpa booster.
Hall is a great professor. He's by far my favorite instructor this semester. I'm not a fan of history by any means, but he makes it enjoyable with his teaching methods and humor (and you can tell he knows this information). He makes the class easy to get an A...just follow his study guides. I would strongly recommend Robert Hall as a professor!
a good teacher who understands students
I would recommend him! He gives you a daily study guide which you have to add what he says for the tests. He gives you a study guide for each exam and marks what you need to read in the textbook. He is funny and knows his stuff. PLUS he has study sessions with his GAs. They read the test! TAKE IT! Attendance is necessary.
Outstanding professor. Great speaker, makes all the lectures interesting. Provides a study guide for each single lecture. Look at those to study for the tests and you'll get at least a B every time. Also is very willing to help you. I go to his office hour occasionally and he basically tells me some of the questions that will be on the test.
One of the best professors I have had. Goes over ever part of the information, which he provides on a detailed handout.Even if you don't like history you will get something from this class.
easy class, you can not show up for weeks, and still turn out a pretty good grade.
Don't buy the book!!! 90% of the test is over his lectures. I don't read just paid attention in class and I average a 86 on the tests. Every week(ish) he has in-class writing assignments which are worth 3 points extra credit. If you do it you get all the points. If you do all of them it adds up to 12% extra credit just for going to class.
Good Professor. Lectures are a bit boring but he gives you a study guide for the test a week in advance. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going. Gives out a generous amount of extra credit. Good class to take if you need to take History 150.
I dropped the class :-(
this class is so easy, i'm not sure where these other people who don't like it are coming form. The GA does not participate, only during the study sessions, so you're getting hte professors information. Funny and concise, doesn't surprise you on anything.
Dr Hall was a really good professor. he knows what he is talking about. i didnt really use the book, and i still got a b+ in the class. you can definitely pass without buying the book. he gives outlines for each day, and study guides for each exam. :)
get him if you want to learn and get a good grade
He was funny and very easy to understand. he was always prompt with his grading and kept us up to date with what was going on. he knew so much that about the topics that we got to learn more than just dates of stuff it was actual people and he made history very real. he was a great professor
Funny, well- spoken and intelligent teacher. HIs lecture is literally about 88 percent of the test and the other 10-12 is from the book. Just take good notes
Very helpful with questions, and easy to understand!
Dr. Robert Hall definitely makes the class fun, and always tells jokes or little known facts to keep us interested.
This professor is awful! He only has 5 tests and 2 essays that make up your grade. He doesn't answer questions. If you go to meet with him or email him about a question he doesn't answer your question and beats around the bush in an attempt to look more intelligent, when he really isn't. He's awful. He's an unfair and completely biased teacher.
super nice guy, anyone who says hes not isnt a good student. hes so interested with what he talks about and is overall a great teacher.
Hall is funny, clear, and he wants everybody to do well. He's the best!
The bad reviews on here are probably from students who hate history and don't want to put in any effort. I never bought the book and only looked over my notes the day of the test and got an A. Favorite quote from him: "Guinea pigs are incredible creatures who make these amazing noises."
if you're looking to get an A in the class you will need the book if you are content with a B or a C then there so no need just really look over the notes. he is a great guy and he wants the best for his students if your having trouble just go talk to him fav. quote "my lawn is filled with this amazing flower that the neighbors don't care for"
great teacher, made the class interesting. the tough part is that he doesnt have lecture notes and that you have to go off of what he says, which is alot, so write down everything he says. tests are over study guide and outline, pretty self-explanatory, but the tests arent that easy
this is a very interesting class. the tests are kinda tough, but if you study long enough you'll do great. note-taking is tough as well because you have to go off what he says, which can be alot of things. textbook is rarey used. all you have to do to pass the tests is take good notes, fill out the study guide, and study a week in advance
Great professor! He is funny and knowledgeable. I don't like history so a little on the boring side but I really enjoyed having him as a teacher. TRY TO GET HIM! He gives 40 extra credit points!
Favorite Professor this semester! He keeps your interest if you plan on being there to learn. His tests are the only points, but he gave multiple chances for extra credit. He gives study guides for every class period and every test, but plan on showing up and doing more than what's given. Put the effort in and this should be a no stress class.
The entire grade is based on 5 tests that are 50 questions and worth 100 pts. each. You can get 40 extra credit points easily. Take good notes, find the book questions given on the study guide and go to the study sessions and you should get an A or B.
Grade is made up of 5 tests and no homework. He does offer extra credit throughout the semester. He gives extra credit for going to classes right before break. He lectures every class period. He uses a powerpoint with only pictures and then discusses them based on history. TAKE GOOD NOTES and don't skip class. He doesn't take attendance.
He does a really good job at making history interesting. He has a very dry sense of humor and he'll crack a few jokes here and there. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll get really behind if you don't go (trust me). If you take good notes in class and read the parts of the book he wants you to, you'll do well. Gives extra credit a lot too!
Really good professor, had very little interest in history, made it interesting.
I loved this man. He is a great professor and made me realize how interesting history is. He has a dry sense of humor and that makes me laugh. He will crack a joke to make sure you're still listening and they're actually funny. I would love to have him for every history class. Tests are easy as long as you are there to take notes!
Very intelligent professor. He only gives 5 tests that are worth your whole grade. He gives out in class assignments for extra credit and also has other options for extra credit. Take good notes and you will pass.
I really struggled in this class. He is a great person but I don't think he is a great professor. Boring lectures. Multiply choice test which was nice. DO NOT SKIP CLASS! Gives you a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Make sure you read and take notes!
Gives lectures everyday but they are not bad. Gives you an outline of notes to print for every class period but you still need to take good notes to do good on tests. There are 5 multiple choice tests with 50 questions. There are questions from the book but I rented it from the library and took pictures of the pages. Gives chances for extra credit.
Hall has a dry sense of humor, which does add flair to his lectures. Every class is a lecture, which can be redundant, but if you take good notes and read the assigned reading the tests are passable. However, if you do not (I learned this the hard way) the tests will sink your grade. He hands out plenty of extra credit, which is super helpful.
I personally enjoy lectures (weird, I know). Dr. Hall is pretty great. He's a little dry, but he tells the occasional really good joke. There is a lot of textbook reading assigned, but I've gotten high Bs on the 3 tests we've taken without reading for 2 of them. There isn't any homework other than reading, and only 4 tests. TAKE GOOD NOTES.
Made learning history fun and easy to remember. His formal personality and very composed manner make all of his jokes very funny, in my opinion. No homework in his class, just opportunities for extra credit. If you listen to him in class, you'll pass. The best part: listening to him is fun. Definitely my favorite class of my freshman year so far.
Awesome teacher. The lectures can sometimes be long, but if you pay attention and take notes, you'll have no trouble passing. Gives TONS of extra credit opportunities through in class exercise (which are not hard at all) and extra credit essays. Both of which are optional and can only help your grade. STRONGLY recommend!!
He is knowledgable, but he presents information in a very boring way.
Hall was a great professor for HIST 150! If you show up to the lectures and take notes, you'll never have to open the textbook. The tests are very lecture-based. He also offers a TON of extra credit.
I loved Dr. Hall! You really do not have to read at all for this class, because his tests are all lecture-based. With that said, you have to go to class or the tests will be really tough. He cracks a lot of jokes, and they are actually pretty funny. He gives so much extra credit as well. Take this class with him.
He's hilarious and seems to really like his subject area. He lectures all the time but makes it relatable. He offers extra credit and that's the only time you'll ever need the textbook. Go to class and pay a little attention and you'll pass. If you watch netflix you can still pass you just won't get an A.
If you go to class and pay attention and follow along with notes you will pass. The only reason I did not have an A is because I missed 3 classes one week and failed on the next test. If you miss multiple classes in a row you will be screwed for the test. Just show up and take notes you should get an A.
Robert Hall's history 150 class is fairly simple. There are a few exams throughout the semester that will make up your final grade. All the material on these exams is covered in class and from the readings assigned. There are also a few non-required extra credit essays that can be done. I did not use the textbook because I did not need it.
A pretty solid class. He keeps lectures interesting, and you don't really need to read the textbook to pass, but just go to lectures.
I love Dr. Hall. He is one of the best History professors for sure. He gives a ton of extra credit if you show up to class. His tests are easy. I would highly recommend!
He is very charismatic and creates a very positive atmosphere. There is no attendance, but the tests are all lecture-based. I really didn't use the textbooks very often, except for extra credit assignments. It is a clear cut 5 tests and some extra credit. Would take again.
Make sure you show up to class to take notes or else you will be screwed on the tests. As long as you take notes you will get a good grade. Overall, I would take again Hall is a great guy
Show up to class and take notes, and you'll get a good grade. He gives you study guides, but you have to fill that out with the notes you take in class, so take good ones. Gives lots of extra credit where you can get a B on every test, and still end with an A at the end.
He has a very dry sense of humor, which depending on your humor, is either perfect or terrible. Lectures are engaging, and he gives a lot of extra credit.
I am very surprised he has low ratings. His class is SUPER easy, all you have to do is show up to class and take notes. His tests are 90% based off of what he talks about in class and he offers tons of extra credit. He gives note outlines and test study guides. I cant imagine failing.
Great Professor. Funny in class, but stays on topic the whole time. Lectures can be boring if you don't like history, but there is hardly ever homework and he gives tons of extra credit.
He is a great professor and i will definitely take more of his classes. He is engaging and if you show up and take notes you should pass very easily. Makes history fun.
Very straight-forward class. Very nice professor. Lots of extra credit. My only complaint is that he will often muddle his lectures with unnecessary details. Great guy!
Really good prof. Great guy, hold study sessions before tests. Gives extra credit in class and will warn you the class before he gives it. If you read over the notes you will pass
Dr. Hall is straight up a Legend. I didn't like history in high school, but he made it fun. there are 5 total tests, and they were very easy. He gives a study guide before the test and it's all you need. I got "A"s on every test, and I got enough extra credit to actually have over 100% for a while. One of my favorite teachers ever.
Overall a good solid humorous teacher. He gives lectures everyday and if you take good notes you'll pass. I skipped class a lot and still passed. I asked for other people's study guides and studied theirs and still passed. He also gives in class exercises for extra credit. Good teacher.
For this class you get an outline for notes. Take the outlines with you to each class. You do one outline per class. there are 5 tests and those are the only actual grades. he offers 50 points of extra credit which is super easy. very nice guy and funny and helpful when you need it. Tests are pretty easy if you study the outlines he gives you.
Love him. He's a great guy, very nice and funny. I know some people say the lectures are boring but c'mon, it's history. He gives so much extra credit and there's no homework. I'd definitely take him again.
The class was very easy; I showed up to class every day and took notes, never read the text book, and passed all of my tests. The class is very lecture heavy, but he makes it fun with jokes or other funny little asides.
His lecture's are literally your test answers. You need to take notes on everything he says, but he clearly defines the exact things you need to take notes on. His extra credit is very easy and half of the time is in class. I recommend his class 100%, I heard from other friends that this is the best history professor you will get.
Great prof. You only have a total of 5 tests but he lets you get a possible of 50 extra credit points. I never really read the textbook except for when he put specific pages on the study guides. His lectures are actually kind of interesting and he's a funny guy.
Robert G Hall is my spirit animal. He put the term on your class outline when nobody else would.
Professor Halls lectures will have you laughing at least once each class. Answers a lot of questions. His lectures are interesting and informative. Use the class outlines he gives you to take notes during class, they are helpful on tests.
He is pretty funny and easy to understand. He put class outlines on blackboard that are very useful. He follows them almost exactly and it helps you take notes for the class. Also if you just go to class and do the in class exercises you get 5 points extra credit to your TESTS which are very manageable.
Robert Hall is a very good History 150 professor. He provides extra credit and a study guide for every test. He also gives out class outlines, which really help when taking notes. You must be in class and take the notes or you will fail the tests. Ten questions are from the book, but he tells you ahead of time what pages to read.
You have to show up to class to get the info that is going to be on the test. The only grades are tests but he offers a lot of extra credit. Easy A as long as you show up and take notes. No homework ever. No midterm. No final. He makes his lectures interesting and has a good sense of dry humor.
boring. hard. and only gives you 5 grades for an entire semester. do not take his class
Mr. Hall is a great history teacher. His tests are mostly lecture based so don't skip. He gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, it can raise you a whole letter grade. His lectures are easy to understand and follow. He also passionate about history which makes his lectures more enjoyable and interesting
Test were hard and didn't cover what we learned in class. We jumped around in the book, so it was hard to follow along and teach yourself. I knew more about what was going on in his life than I knew about the content of his class. Boring lectures and tests that don't go along with the lectures. There are extra credit opportunities, so go to class.
Nice professor, but the way he does notes makes it difficult. If it's hard for you to pay attention in class, this isn't the professor for you. He gives you a "note guide" with main points on it and you fill it out as he talks. There are no words on his powerpoint so if you miss a class you'll have to read to fill it out. Tests are hard.
He's a good professor
You get in class outlines and he only has pictures on the powerpoints, you have to follow what he is saying to get the notes. He has optional study sessions the day that the exams open and I suggest going, you get a study guide and you can ask questions that you have (it is ran by TAs). You also have many different extra credit opportunities.
I loved Dr. Hall! He always has an outline of notes for all of the students each class which makes taking notes very easy. He also gives clear study guides with page numbers for the information that is from the textbook. I would definitely recommend taking him. I thought it was an easy A as long as you actually listen and take notes.
I never got the textbook so oops. His lectures are okay and he's nice but his exams are impossible. Extra credit is the only reason I'm passing. If you take him, you'll survive but idk that I would recommend.
Dr. Hall was a very good professor. He gives you note outlines that help when you have to take your own notes during lectures. The exams are pretty difficult but he gives out an insane amount of extra credit!
Dr. Hall's HIST 150 class is by far the easiest class I have taken. He posts outlines for every lecture that have all of the material covered. He also doesn't take attendance, which makes it very convenient to skip if you need to. Only qualm is that the grades are all from tests, but extra credit is offered in class every other week at least.
he is a great professor. You never have to read in the book unless it comes test time and he gives you about 10-15 pages to read. Lots of extra credit to boost your grade and he has a good sense of humor. Definitely recommend taking him for this class over the other teachers.
Halls lectures are fairly interesting and he really knows what he is talking about, but his exams are insane. His wording is impossible and dont correlate with what is lectured. He offers tons of extra credit, but unless you do well on exams, its impossible to do well.
This is a very tough class, but he tries to make it fun. Go to class, listen, and take notes. Doesnt give a clear outline for tests so study study study.
Dr. Hall does his absolute best to try to make the lectures fun and entertaining. He also gives outlines for the lectures, so you can follow along and take notes off of that which is really nice. I loved having class with him!
This class is super easy, just take notes and study before the exams and you'll do fine. He gives you a bunch of chances for extra credit. He's a really chill professor and will definitely help you if you need it.
If taking History 150, I would chose Dr. Hall. The class was tough at first, all lectures and only tests. No need to read the textbook it is optional, but the lectures are enough. The test can be tough but take good notes and pay attention. He gives lots of extra credit oppurtunities so be in class on those days
My dude Robert. Great professor, class is kind of boring but he really tries his best to make it interesting. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT, i think I ended the semester with over 50 points of EC. Easy tests as long as you use follow the study guides he provides. Beginning of semester I had 50%, ended with an 87%
He's a really cool guy. He tells awkward jokes frequently, but he's a charming little guy. You have to read the textbook if you want to pass his tests, but he offers a lot of extra credit. I recommend him even though I personally did less than stellar in his course.
His class is fantastic, sit through lecture, take notes, you'll get a good grade. He has a funny dry humor and knows a lot about the subjects, you will always learn exactly what is on the test as long as you pay attention in class. He also gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and the only extra project other than tests is a book reading.
Only grades are tests, but they're easy and cover only a few chapters. Lots of extra credit opportunities too, solid choice if you wanna get HIST150 out of the way with an easy-A
Hall is pretty laid back and he slips some humor into his lectures here and there. Make sure you attend class and pay attention because it is all oral lecture, no powerpoints or notes posted later on Blackboard. The tests are pretty straight forward and based on his lecture, so the book is not necessarily required. Moderate effort gets the job done
Dr. Hall is knowledgable about history, but his tests are extremely hard. If you don't attend class, you will fail. The exams are all in the testing lab and are very specific. They're multiple choice, but over small details talked about in class. i would NOT recommend Dr. Hall's course because I know other HIST 150 profs are much easier.
If I had the choice to take History 150 again, I would choose a different professor again and again. This should be an easy class (given that it is in the core curriculum) however Hall makes the tests more difficult than he should. Do not choose Hall for History 150. You will regret it.
Fine professor, just not my style personally. The only grades are the exams, but there is a lot of opportunity to get extra credit. The extra credit is in-class and the other is a paper over the book Night. I honestly would have gotten a better grade if I put in any effort at all.
He's pretty funny. Give a lot of opportunity for extra credit, doing all of it can raise your final grade 10 points. Go to lecture and take notes on the outline or you will fail. You can pass without the textbook. I did almost nothing outside of class and still got a good grade, but you HAVE to pay attention and take notes during lecture.
I loved having Dr. Hall!!! He always works humor into the lectures, but I did definitely fall asleep a few times during them. As long as you show up, take notes, and do the study guides, you will be alright. The tests have pretty specific details we discuss in lecture so take note of that. Overall a great class, I would take it again!
Get ready for purple shirts and La Croix! Your grade is based on five exams. He is funny sometimes which is good because I almost fell asleep every lecture. Maybe history and exams aren't my thing but I never missed a lecture and I did all of the study guides until I started to use quizlet and then I got better test grades.
His class was so hard. Attendance wasn't mandatory so you would be tempted to skip class; don't. His tests are lecture heavy and he gives you study guides. But even though I took detailed notes, I would still fail his tests. He gives extra credit so that helps but he only has test grades so if you aren't a great test taker, don't take this class.
Robert tries to make his lectures interesting but they are not. It is very hard to follow along because when you take notes you have to listen to everything he says. All his slideshows are is pictures. He talks very quietly and I sit very close to him so it is hard to hear. We never use the textbook. Also the only grades you have are the exams.
definitely not my favorite professor. lectures with a powerpoint full of pictures and class outlines which is nice, but boring beyond belief. the only grades that go in are the exams, but he gives an essay extra credit opportunity and in-class exercises that go for extra credit. he says he'll take attendance periodically but he really doesn't.
recommend sitting near the front- you can't hear him in the back. If you pay attention and take notes you will be fine. If you miss class you will fail the test because 45 out of 50 questions on the multiple choice test is based on lecture. 5 questions are based on textbook. so reading is optional
most boring lectures I've ever been to. he does give extra credit at some of the lectures tho so I suggest going.
Boring lectures but a good class to take.
It's only graded by the tests and extra credit. Extra credit can get you a long way but the exams are pretty tough and you WILL have to actually study for them to get a B or higher. Dr. Hall has some great jokes and genuinely cares about history. I recommend him as long as you are willing to put in some effort.
Hall makes lectures fun and interesting (be prepared for dad jokes). While you don't have to go to class, he will not only give out extra credit on random occasions but you will need to take extra notes. He provides outlines for each chapter discussed. As long as you study and pay attention you will be able to pass with at least a B.
Dr. Hall is a great, kind, helpful professor but his tests are tough. I struggled on the first half of the semester, especially since he only grades tests for the semester. I failed my first two tests. I didnt know what to do so I went to his office hours. He introduced me to his teachers assistants which helped boost my grade a little.
Class isnt mandatory , but he gives extra credit all the time , mainly on Fridays so make sure youre there. Also, going to class is crucial because you have to take your own notes. But as long as you go, youll be fine. He makes jokes which can be funny at times. I would definitely suggest taking him for History 150
Fun lecture class. He's monotone but it's funny in a way. Hands out extra credit like candy on Halloween night. Didn't ever open my textbook, but you do need to read the book Night. Take notes in class. I recommend showing up because it helps for the test, but attendance isn't necessary.
Robert Hall gives out extra credit like candy on Halloween. When he gives the extra credit is on the syllabus, usually Fridays, show up to class for that! Other than that there's 5 test, they aren't hard if you listen during class. Missing class isn't a big deal, he never took attendance once during the semester.
Attendance isn't mandatory but I 100% suggest going to every class. He gives an outline for what the lecture of the day will be on, and he goes into very good detail, you just have to write/type fast because he doesn't put it on the slides. I went to him for a few things and he was very understanding. He also gives lots of extra credit!
He tried to make the class more interesting and was often times funny. As someone who is not good at history, he gives enough extra credit to get a good grade in the class. Study for the tests and show up to class and youll be fine.
Hall had really interesting and funny lectures that made me actually enjoy taking a history class. He gave study guides that are nearly identical to the test. 80% of the test is from his lectures and 20% from the book, which you can check out from the library. As long as you go to class, take notes, and do the study guides you'll do well.
Attendance isnt mandatory. But i recommend going He gives tones of In class extra credit (40-50 points) his test are very hard tho, make sure to do the study guide. They are very helpful. Super nice guy though and always emails back super fast.
As long as you do the work and study, you will pass! Look on quizlet for study terms. He was a very great guy and attendance isn't mandatory. During the pandemic he was also very accommodating.
King of extra credit. He has some awesome stories too. Really tries to keep the class engaged.
Took class during Covid, so it may be different, but I didnt show up to class once and was still getting 90s and above on all the exams. Basically spent 3 hours a week taking notes. No homework, so you have to do good on exams to get a good grade, but the exams really werent that hard and he offers a ton of extra credit.
I really enjoyed the class. His lectures can be a little boring sometimes but he tries to keep it interesting. There are only 5 tests and no assignments so you have to do well on the tests. They are not hard as long as you fill out the study guide he gives you. There are extra credit assignments every week that were super helpful and interesting.
Very easy class. It can get a little boring, but attendance isn't mandatory. Just follow the class notes and you will be fine. Grade is made up entirely of tests, but there is a ton of extra credit. No homework. Sometimes he is funny if you are listening. Tests are pretty easy if you just read the notes. Didn't read the book too much. I recommend.
One of the easiest classes I've taken while still giving me a challenge. As long as you listen to his lectures, take notes, and do some reading here and there, you'll pass the class with flying colors. The only assignments for this class were 4 or 5 exams and some extra credit assignments. With that being said, be sure you study for the exams!
Very easy class if you put in the work outside of class. Gives lots of extra credit.
Dr. Hall is an ok guy but his lecture are by far the most boring things I have ever listened to. I eventually stopped attending them and studied the class notes he provides along with the study guides and did just fine. He gives a lot of extra credit but all other grades are exams.
Bobby is the MAN. He makes the lectures pretty engaging and is just a funny dude. I didn't show up to the class for most of the year and never got lower than an 80 on an exam. He offers so much extra credit all the time it's crazy. You would have to actively try to fail this class. Highly recommend.
Pretty boring and the only assignments you'll get are 4 major tests plus a few extra-credit assignments. Attendance is not mandatory and, honestly, as long as you skim the notes, you'll pass. Extremely easy class
super nice but very boring to listen to. only went to his class once and passed with a great grade
Not very many assignments or tests make sure to study hard for tests they are open note but very hard. Offers extra credit assignments that saved my grade I recommended doing them. As long as you take advantage of extra credit and study you should be fine. No need to attend class he puts slides on canvas and in class notes on canvas as well.
Environmental History with Dr. Hall was cool, but there was a LOT of reading. We had the weekly readings, two textbooks, and a book about the American Bison to write about during the semester. There were discussion posts each week, and 5 quizzes. Quizzes weren't too hard with two attempts and open notes. Learned a lot and was a unique class.
tbh his tests are super hard but if you go to class regularly and take notes, then you will pass.
Robert's pretty cool. His lectures are nearly torture - I've never had a more monotone professor. Of course he reads everything from a slide, but sometimes fun extra things are sprinkled in to keep you engaged. Or should I say TRY to keep you engaged. The content is super easy and most tests/quizzes are on Quizlet.
Very boring lectures. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you go to class and take notes you will pass. We had 5 exams throughout the semester and all were online and open note. Book could be used to help with the exams, but I never used it and still got an A on every one.
Dr. Hall solely grades based on tests worth 100 pts each. The exams are 90% based on lecture material and notes taken rather than the text book, He gives a ton of extra credit assignments which save your grade. follow study guides, and check on Quizlet to prepare for exams. Monotone speaker but he includes humor and cares about your success.
Robert's lectures were PAINFULLY boring but attendance wasn't required. He grades solely based on tests and extra credit. No assignments. I stopped attending the lectures halfway through the semester and passed with a 97%. Don't bother buying the textbook, you don't really need to do the reading.
I took Hall for HIST 150, and it was easily one of my favorite classes. He does a really great job of making the lectures conversational, while making sure to include everything important. There are exams after every 5-6ish chapters, but he puts out the study guides early (also gives lots of extra credit).
I loved Dr. Hall! His lectures were extremely engaging. He was really good at explaining everything and his class was SUPER easy. The class is basically only 4 tests and lots of extra credit assignments, and the tests were open book open notes. Attendance was completely optional. As long as you pay attention and take notes you should pass easily.
Your grade it literally made up of the 5 exams & extra credit. That is it. No papers, assignments, hw. Point scale DO EXTRA CREDIT. 7 extra credit assignments 5 points each. 5 exams 100 points each. I literally went to class 2 times the entire year and ended with an A. Answers are all on the in class notes. Exams: open note/take home/ 2 attempts
The grade is 100% exams, along with 40 points of extra credit throughout the semester. There are 5 exams, each worth 100 points. His voice is very boring and the class was a drag. He did crack a few good jokes though sometimes. He makes his own tests, but they're taken at home online w/ no lockdown browser.
The lectures are boring and hard to keep up with. The tests are based off the lectures, so attendance isn't mandatory, but hard to pass without going. The tests are harder, but easy if you go to class. The extra credit are easy 10pt assignments.
Would never answer his emails, and your grade is entirely of 5 exams.
Very easy class. He provides outlines on canvas, but definitely recommend going to lectures to get full details of material. He doesn't take attendance, except for days with extra credit (which is very easy). He does publish online readings, but you can still pass without them. His lectures are a tad boring, so you may doze.
Hall is incredibly funny, and his lectures are generally pretty captivating. His class is pretty easy as there is no work besides the 4 tests, which are reasonable in their difficulty. He offers a LOT of extra credit that is incredibly easy to get. You don't have to attend class, but you will do much better if you do. Go to the study sessions too.
You don't need to go to classes/lectures. Your grade is made up of tests and extra credit. All tests are open source (use google and quizlet friends). So many extra credit opportunities. The only way you can fail is by not taking the tests. Lectures are super dry and boring so if you intend on going to lectures, find another professor.
There are 5 exams in this class. 80% of the your grade is exams, and 20% is the final. The final is not cumulative. There are extra credit assignments he offers and I highly recommend doing them because its the only other thing that goes in the grade book. The tests are open note, but your notes rent usually all that helpful.
Good teacher. Do the extra credit, they help somewhat. The mini exams are literally everything so either study or use google, but imma tell you rn, google barely helps lol. His student assistants do a study/kahoot day during the mini exam weeks as well so go to those if you don't want to study.
Super easy pass. There was no textbook and he provided all required readings and class outlines on Canvas. Exams are open-notes with no lockdown browser and extra credit is given out frequently.
Super easy class. Professor only does tests for grades though, so if you don't do well on those there isn't anything else to help. He did offer a lot of extra credit throughout the semester and I would suggest doing them all.
= His class was extremely difficult for me. I went to every lecture and study session and still did poor on the exam. I think what made it so difficult was the fact he never posted notes from his lectures which made the test more He did offer extra credit multiple times through the semester but the grand was mainly test and extra credit.
Super chill guy, both with assignments and attendance. He did not require any textbooks this semester (instead providing alternate sources for free) which was a great surprise. Doesn't have mandatory attendance, does in class guided studies the day exams open- which are not in lockdown.
Made class outlines so it is easy to find what class goes over, lots of extra credit available. Tries his best to make class fun and interesting.
LITERALLY the easiest class in university. don't buy the textbook, don't go to class, do the extra credit. took the "final" in 11 minutes got a 94. class consists of 5 exams and no other grades
Stupid easy to get an A. dont need to go to class, but I did and I think it was helpful for the tests. LOTS of extra credit, do the extra credit. Only grade are tersts.
Easy A class. No need for textbook or lectures - just focus on exams and extra credit. unstuck AI helped with study prep. Definitely recommend for an easy credit.
5 exams. lots of extra credit. did not need to go to class not mandatory
Dr. Hall, gives you extra credit opportunities. sometimes those opportunities are on a whim and in class though. he doesn't take attendance and only have tests. he gives you about 4 tests and an essay. its pretty easy as long as you take notes.
The class was easy, but the lectures were boring and could be hard to follow at times. The class was all open-note tests and extra credit. He did not use a lock-down browser.
I was never much of a history person in high school, but Dr. Hall made history interesting to learn! He goes into heavy detail in his lectures and will hold study guide sessions before the test. The class is very easy if you make sure to show up to class and pay attention.
I was not much of a history person in high school, but Dr. Hall made history interesting to learn! He goes into heavy detail in his lectures, but is able to explain it throughly and effectively. He also holds study guide sessions before the upcoming tests. As long as you show up to class and pay attention, the class won't be difficult to pass.
I did not go to class much; just do the tests and the extra credit and you'll get a free A out of his class.
really easy class!
Dr. Hall is a great prof! HIST150 is a super easy class with him and he does a good job teaching. He is always, and I mean always, double checking if his students have questions about literally anything which I greatly appreciate. His exams are a breeze and the class outline notes help. The extra credit is also very nice and can help your grade!
I genuinely have never been so bored in a history class IN MY LIFE Attendance is not mandatory, and I would rely heavy on that. As long as you understand the material (I did not) you will do well
Dr. Hall was a great history professor. He is definitely knowledgeable about the subject, but his lectures can definitely be boring. Attendance is not mandatory, and the exams are online and not in lockdown browser with 2 attempts. There is no real reason you should not get an A in this class.
