The last review is either a joke or it's from someone who just put in a half-assed effort into the class. Heppler is a great teacher, he understands peoples fear with making speeches. Assignments are easy if you take your time to do them correctly

easy A if you go to class, dress and prepare well for speeches, and study what is on his review sheets. he makes students do speeches from topics in book. just take notes when he adds info to student's speeches. great teacher

Dr. Bob is great. The material is pretty boring, and sitting through some of the speeches is mind-numbing, but he tries to make it interesting. I was very nervous going in, and now I feel pretty comfortable, so I got a lot out of the class.

Dr. Bob is a pretty good speech teacher. He makes your comfortable in the class to not be so nervous doing your speeches. Alittle odd sometimes but pretty easy A if you show up to class & do well on both speeches.

this class is not hard if you have the time to sit down, read the material, and to memorize the speeches. he knows his stuff but expects you to know it and perform it the second he has told you about it. do not take this class if you have a heavy school load or if you work full time.

Nice guy.He will expect you to participate,and I suggest that you volunteer for xtra stuff,especially if you don't do very well at public speaking.The speeches are from sections of the book,so you already have the material.SHOW UP TO CLASS!Attendance is a major part of your grade!He is funny and really nice, you'll enjoy his class.

Dr.Bob is the best teacher ever.I got hundreds on everything her ever did.Especially his extra credit speeches.There is NO WAY to FAIL this mans class.Just don't Leave early or be late.But his speech are pretty easy , you just have to recap and participate and take notes.DR.Bob some times loses control of his hands so don't sit in the front.

I have taken this class before. I felt his style of teaching both the material and speaking skills was great. I feel I have learned a lot and progressed as a speaker, as well as many others in the class.

There are 2 mandatory speeches(8-10min). You pretty much have to get 100% on both speeches and both tests to get an A. You have to be willing to do a lot of extra credit speeches, b/c nobody gets 100% on the speeches. his tests aren't too bad. he gives a review sheet and goes over it with you. Just read all the chapters for the test & it's okay.

As a college academy student I recommend him to those who are going on to a real college. He brings in a lot of history, philosophy, literature, and even science and math into his lessons. I got an A and so did two of my friends but he does not dummydown his tests and grading as do many of my other teachers. I think his grading is fair.

If anyone who has to take a speech class and may feel a bit eerie about making speeches,you should choose Professor Heppler.I had him for the spring semester,and he was extremely supportive and helpful.The tests are challenging but he does curve the test so make sure no one screws it up! He's truly a good teacher who loves what he does. He gives constructive feedback and gives awesome reviews before a test so there is no way that you can fail. Even if you don't enjoy giving speeches you shouldn't have a problem with this class. He makes you use 2 different books and they are definitely mandatory but worth it for a great teacher

overall good teacher very nice fun guy classes go quick. grades no lower than a B- on any speech the only thing you got to do is worry is about tests that arent to difficult. he gives an awesime study page with page numbers on whats going to be on the test. You can miss lotsof days as long as its not the day you have to present. Would recommend

He is great, his grading system is different... but works in the students favor...he curves the test. There is 2 talks 2 tests plus final...if you show up and only do 1 speech and get a c you can still pass. Class is interesting too :)

you dont really got to go to class but u get extra points is u do. he always have a positive energy for the class and helps you with ur speeches. he noes alot of poem by heart and is funny. great teacher

Dr. Bob is soooo sweet. He is so passionate and truly wants you to learn something. You will definitely walk out of there with more confidence in speaking in public. But his tests can be a little confusing. He usually curves your test grades. I got an A with lttle effort. You'll love him!

He's a sweet old man, with goofy stories and great personality. He's really easy to get along with and doing powerpoints for ur presentations is greatly appreciated- he sees that ur putting some extar effort- although it's not required! make sure u show up for class because attendance it's 11 extra points toward ur grade!!! ull love him!!!

Great class.A lot of fun. He gives very good examples and he is funny. He explains well and seems to know something about almost everything. He tells you exactly what he wants and he does a good job of letting students know their weaknesses and strengths

I feel he is an excellent, inspiring professor. I was impressed as I had not wanted to take this class prior. He is thorough, interesting, relevent, and enthusiastic. He is very fair and pays great attention to detail when evaluating speeches.

Great Personality! Just didn't like the way he came up with our final grade. You are graded on two major presentations and two tests. The tests were a bit difficult, so you really need to do well on your presentation. He's very understanding when you can't make it in to class. mini presentations for xtra credit.

Awesome teacher. I was holding off taking this class due to the fact that I HATE speaking in public. Two major speeches and mini ones for extra credit. All speeches on material in the book. A bit boring but he tells cute jokes. Easy tests if you read the material. I would def recommend him. :)

I'm in my 30's and if all teachers cared as much as him I never would have dropped out of school before. He inspires you to learn. I have learned more from this class than from any other.I definately recommend him.

This class is one of those "life classes" where you learn important skills to use in daily life. This is a great teacher for a great course. He makes the atmoshere in the classroom so cmfortable. I just know I gained much confidence in his class in speaking out yo others.

Great teacher! Better than any I had at UF. He really knows what he is talking about but also listens to what students have to say so you can participate if you want to. A good class to take if you are looking for some easy ( but not stupid ) stimulation.

He is positive and helps youovercome your fears. I started this class terified of public speaking and finished it with a great understanding of how it is done. I feel much more comfortable while doing speaking. He is supportive, easy to talk to, and very fair.

The speeches are fun. In my class, everyone got to know each other quickly, and we were all very cool with each other by the end. His tests and quizzes are tough! But don't let that stop you from taking him. He's an excellent teacher. Very knowledgeable, very fun and funny, and very helpful. Had some really great times in his class. Recommended!

Good class. Every thing was clearly explained .The tests were fair,were open book, and curved. It was good to learn how to put a speech together.

The thing I really liked about this class was that we chose our own topic to talk about. This class was okay. Tests were open book. But the choices for the questions on the test may seem all correct, but according to Dr. Heppler the answer is based on "studies" which was never taught to us. He's an okay professor.

Great professor because he is kind. He is old school and makes you speak in front of the class 1st day. Frustrating when it comes to his grading skills because he is very picky. I got a B in a class i shouldve gotten an A in and was pissed at the end of the semester. Also His tests are open book but the answers arent in the book. annoying class

This class itself was very helpful for me and helped me overcome some "stage fright" I had and still have. The professor himself was very kind but is a very tough grader of speeches. His exams were mostly take homes and therefore easy enough but still a little tricky. I say take him because he was a good professor just be sure to practice.

Practice, practice, practice for your speeches. He's in his office to help. He will take off points for tardies or absences and take a letter grade for make up speeches. But, open note and open book tests! However, actually read the material. It'll help. Dr. Heppler, please give better outlines. Please.

Great, respectable, genuine man. Because of him, I rarely ever get nervous about publicly speaking now. The class has 2 major speeches and a couple of tests, but if you practice your speech presentation in the mirror and read through the chapters of the textbook you will get an A in the class.

Dr. Heppler was an awesome professor for public speaking! He gives about 4-5 exams, which are open book, and there are two major speeches. He might give you one or two small speeches, but they're super easy! I was really nervous about giving speeches but I started to feel more comfortable along the way. He's also really funny!

I love Dr. Heppler; he is super smart and funny. Speech is an intimidating class but he makes it so relaxing and laid back. After your speeches he gives you feedback on how you did. A really nice and lovely guy. If you are nervous for this class I would suggest on taking him, I just did a 10 min. and received an A, TAKE HIM!!!

DR HEPPLER IS A GENTLEMAN, AND AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. HE GIVES 2 MAJOR SPEECHES AND 4 OPEN NOTES TESTS. HE IS VERY HELPFUL. HIS CLASSES WERE A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO FACE SPEECH WITH MORE CONFIDENCE.

Only a few speeches. Clear outlines/things he looks for - pay attention and follow them for a good grade. Open book/note tests - huge help! Come to class to get some extra points. He's a bit old fashioned, has his rules, but has a sense of humor and wants you to genuinely learn. Easy A - take him!

Great professor; he teaches you a life skill and does it well. He's funny, genuinely cares about students, and gives great feedback to help you become a better speaker. I went into this class dreading public speaking, but came out feeling ready for any speech as well as to enjoy it!

He's a good teacher, he gives good feedback and you can re-do your speech if didnt like your grade. I didnt like his grading scale. There are 4 test during the class worth 11 pts, 2 speeches worth 22pts, and a final worth 22pts (Make sure to highlight the chapters, sometimes you can use notes or the book). Go to class, you get 11pts for attendance.

Robert Heppler is a wonderful teacher. He knows how to make students comfortable with each other and in doing so, he provides a safe place where students with anxiety are comfortable speaking publicly. His tests were all open note and/or open book. There were two speeches and I think four tests. As long as you follow his directions, you'll get an A

Prof Heppler was a great professor, he really helped me with my fear of public speaking. His class is so easy to pass, it really is an easy A. He was very clear in the beginning with what he wanted from us. I definitely recommend him.

Professor Heppler is definitely an incredible person, he doesn't make the class impossible. At the end of the day, you are responsible for the effort you put into the class. He makes it nearly impossible to get less than an A and honestly out of any class you take, this will teach you how to be more personable in conversation and talk to groups.

The class isnt as easy as people believe with his extreme harshness on the 2 talks you have to complete throughout the semester. Make sure to make those talks count. There are only about 10 grades so make em count He is sarcastic usually so dont take what he says personally, and youll be fine. He is funny and really makes the class come together

4 tests, most open book or open notes, 2 big speeches on whatever topic you want (make sure not to go first as what he wants is sorta unclear until he gives feedback to the first person), a couple easy mini-speeches, tests based on the textbook so READ. Easy A as long as you do well on your speeches and decent on tests.

Very easy class, his grading criteria may be a little complicated and weird, but he makes sure that he explains it. He is available always during office hours and is always willing to help out and give make up work. just do the speech and present when scheduled and pass his test which are super easy

This is one of those that you actually have to try to fail this class. 2-3 speeches which range from 3 to 8 mins. He'll give you a good feedback. Just take note of what he wants you to do. 4 tests that are open book. He gives you all the time in the world to finish the test. Prof Heppler is a nice man. Sometimes his instructions aren't very clear.

Professor Heppler was very sweet. He struggled a little with remote learning because he wasn't very familiar with technology but he still tried his best to make the class fun and run as smooth as possible. Few test that were not hard at all. Also had only 3 speeches which he guided us well on. Just show up, listen to the lectures and you pass

Honestly, you only need to show up for the speeches. And all of the tests are on quizlet. He pretty much adheres directly to the textbook, so that is a must. But please show up! He is a hilarious professor and is genuinely interested in getting to know his students. Don't take advantage of his kindness!

Professor Heppler is very wise and it very evident. He means well when teaching his students, and is a big fan of people sharing. Sometimes it may not be too clear what he would like you to write your speeches about, but you can always send him and email (in advance so you make sure he has time to respond) and he'll let you know what he thinks.
