Very good professor, great at explaining and dives deep into his topics.
Lots of writing. 6 essays throughout semester. Lots of reading. Text book not used in class but you will need to read it for online tests that are timed. Couple of extra credit assignments. PROF HINES IS THE BEST WHEN IT COMES TO HISTORY. HE MAKES IT INTERESTING AND YOU DO NOT WANT HIS LECTURES TO END! Not an easy A. You WILL WORK for it!
This was my first online class and I LOVED it! Professor Hines is extremely clear on what he wants: 2 themes were required each week (so 2-4 essays a week) plus an open book/internet timed test every Monday as well. Definitely easier than any class I've taken at my University! As long as you stay on top of your work, you're sure to get an A!
Awesome professor! Class is exceptionally organized. Took for Summer Flex 1. Lots of writing. 2-4 essays a week along with a 40 question timed quiz. Very prompt on returning emails and grading assignments. Highly recommend!
Awesome professor! Class is exceptionally organized. Took for Summer Flex 2. Lots of writing. 2-6 essays a week along with a 40 question timed quiz. Very prompt on returning emails and grading assignments. Highly recommend!
Thank you nice and wise professor
Mr. Hines is an excellent professor. He made the subject mattter easy to understand and he was up to date with grading our assignments and quizzes. He usually leave comments and feedback after we submit our essays which I found very informative and useful throughout the semester. I highly recommend taking classes taught by Mr. HInes.
Mr. Hines got back to me in a timely matter any time I emailed him. He grades assignments quickly also. Overall, his class was worth taking.
Took this course, as a summer 2 flex. Lots of reading and plenty of writing. 4 themes to choose from each week with a total of 12. You have to choose 2 themes a week out of the 4. 4-6 essays a week. Read the assigned readings! 2 timed tests over the readings. I highly recommend this professor! Unless you hate writing.
I enjoyed learning about history and Mr Hines made it fun
-be prepared to submit multiple papers weekly.
Alot of essay writing, actually all of the assignments were essays.
I took this class as summer 2. Its a really easy and interesting class. Its really important to keep up with assignments though.
Mr. Hines is probably the best teacher I've ever had. His energy-filled lectures will never leave you bored and his dynamically theatrical teaching methods make remembering information so much easier than any other professor. In one semester, I've gained a whole new appreciation for history that will last a lifetime. A truly inspirational man.
He is very helpful, but grades really hard.
Great teacher! All emails are answered in a timely manner. Warning: Be prepared to write. Gives fair grades.
Great professor. Loved the assignments and tests were not a killer. I took him Flex 2 online and it was a breeze. Put effort into your work, and you will see a good outcome, as you should for all classes. I would take Hines again!
If you are actually interested in getting a decent grade and are willing to put in the time, you will love this class. He is obviously very intelligent as a professor and will know if you don't put your heart into your work. He will also take notice if you do. I HATE history but I loved this course. I wish he could just do all my classes.
I loved my history course this semester. I have a deeper understanding of American History and received more than I could ever imagine. I would take any history course he teaches! The book I used also had me looking at history with a bigger view.
Alright you'll probably have to read and write alot but the topics are really interesting and he gives you alot of options to do. The work maybe tough at times but it's a good class where you actually learn more about history and I believe it helps open your eyes and be more open-minded.
Hines is absolutely the best. He gives you maximum freedom in choosing which writing assignments you want to complete for a grade, allowing you to focus on topics you find interesting. His prompts are thought provoking and he gives excellent feedback. He responds to correspondence quickly and has a great sense of humor. Seriously, take his class!
Professor Hines is the best professor I've ever had. I never liked history until taking his class. Show up to class, take notes, and you will pass. I ended the class with a 95.
Impossible to fail his test
Awesome teacher, learned a lot, If you do not like to do essays do not take, in all semester we did 6 essays, 4 exams and 5 quizzes. But besides that very good teacher. He always remembers all his students by names. Really energetic professor!
Hes a pretty cool teacher. he is helpful and give extra credit. i would take his class again.
This class was amazing. All readings within the class were phenomenal and the instructions left for each theme were clear.
Do the reading, write the essays, and make the deadlines and you'll walk away with an A. The material is interesting and Hines is very clear with what he expects for the assignments. If you're not afraid of doing a little homework, take his class!
YOU NEED THE BOOK IF YOU ARE TAKING AN ONLINE COURSE.
Mr. Hines is awesome! the course work is easy to follow and if you read your chapters and do the homework (which is really easy, mostly essays) your bound to get an A. I had Mr hines for Hist 1301 and 1302! Best history teacher! I learned a lot from his courses, and if I needed any more history credits I would definitely sign up for his class again
this online course is highly suggested, if you like to write you will be doing a lot of this but it is not so hard.
Mr. Hines is very tough. His assignments are long and relentless.
Do not take if you do not like to read or WRITE! Alot essays and 4 test! Textbook is really interesting! Take this class if you are serious about history, LOVED the class. The test questions come straight from the text so read the chapters to pass, highlighters and sticky notes were essential to me! read and do essays early, not last minute.
Professor Hines is an excellent professor, more importantly he's an amazing lecturer. THERE IS A CATCH IN THAT THOUGH. You have to be interested in history and the subject matter to actually get the most out of his class. If your looking for an easy A I would stay clear of Hines. Take Mr. Fields or Mr. Aguirre, they are fun but not as challenging.
You have to write a fair amount for his online class. 6 writing assignments and 3 multiple choice tests make up your whole grade, but I found the writing prompts very entertaining and I learned a lot in his class. He helped write the book you use in the class, and most of the questions for the essays come straight from the book. Would take again.
Professor Hines will email you back quickly if you have questions and the assignments are super easy. You have to write a lot of essays but they are short and you just have to answer questions. I highly recommend this class, especially online.
Get ready to write some papers
Gives essays for online classes, but you have options on the essays. Read the assignment and give a valid opinion and the class is easy. The readings are interesting.
Great positive energy. Patient and gives clear directions of what the expectations are. taking him again in the fall.
I took Mr. Hines for 13011302 online through the summer. He has high expectations however clear and precise. Writing and reading is required but still easy enough to maintain. Topics are very interesting and you have many options to choose from. Answers your questions and provides feedback. Basic English writing and essay layout is a must.
He gives clear instructions and provides feedback.
Took the summer online class. You get to choose which assignments to do. Each one required an essay or two. The reading was usually short and interesting. Just keep up and you'll do well.
tough class but Doable
tough class but Doable As long as you keep reading
tough class but Doable As long as you keep reading. Don't expect an easy grade
Class was straightforward and went quickly
Great class even though the subject wasn't my favorite I learned a lot and found it interesting more than before.
Professor Hines is a great professor, to begin with I love history and thought this would be a very easy grade, it really wasn't. However, I learned a lot out of this class and if I had to take it all over again I would pick Professor Robert Hines all over again.
Professor Hines is a great professor. The course requires work but he is very clear in instruction and replies quickly when emails are sent. I took the course online and I didn't have any trouble keeping up. It's a great class for history. The readings were interesting and so were the extra credit assignments. I definitely recommend this class.
I have taken two classes with Professor Hines and I thoroughly enjoyed them. He has made me enjoy history and has shown me historic things I was never aware of.
If you are a good writer you will pass the class. If you can listen well and take notes you will pass the class. Book is required, helps when doing tests but did not read it. Passed with an A. Great professor, interesting lectures.
You get to pick 2 assignments out of 4 before every test you have to do. The assignments and the tests are SOLELY based on the textbook so it's a must have. Be prepared to write, but he does not assign long assignments, usually 1-2 pages. He's very clear on his grading policies. I will be taking him again for History 1302. He's AWESOME!
Be prepare to write lots of essays.
Multiple choice on tests can be tricky, but the writing portion topics were stimulating. Sometimes interjects personal views on the class indirectly, but not in a negative way. Great teacher i took for the second time. He makes you learn, work, write, and ties grade to attendance to encourage people to show. Not an Easy A.
good professor. lots of essays. if you do your work, youll be do fine
Awesome Professor. Read your chapters and this class is an easy A. He makes it interesting.
Professor Hines is a good teacher, you have a lot of homework and you do have to read a lot but the home work is very interesting.
This class requires a lot of reading followed by essays plus unit quizzes. he does offer extra credit. but will not accept any late work!!
There was quite a bit of reading and responding in a short essay about two sets of questions for each theme but not so much that I got bored. The feedback given for each essay was good and helpful and the criteria for achieving high marks was simple and easy to understand.
I like Professor Hines! I took HIST 1301 and HIST 1302 with this Professor and was very comfortable with him. It's a LOT of reading and two essays in one assignment so I don't take it with Government or English classes because you will not get a break from reading! Overall I learned a lot and enjoyed both classes!
I am a single-mother that works full time and goes to school full time and this class is perfect! he understands we have other obligations, offers Extra Credit, is very clear, emails back quickly, is simple upon grading, and YOU CHOOSE your assignments. Online course was easy, DEF RECOMMEND!!!
Super funny, not like any other professor I've had.
I took this class online, it's pretty easy if you just read the chapters and write the essays you're assigned. The Exams are just over the readings, so READ. Make sure you turn the essays in ON time! Also, extra credit is somewhat available, so if you need it, DO IT. Other than that, he is a very supportive/nice professor. Would take him again!
Hines was a good professor, I took the class online and it was based on 12 themes that required two essays regarding the books chapter. One is able to select what essay from the given topics can be done. A total of three exams were given with a time limit and usually 50 questions. If work is completed and book is were understood the class can be A!
I enjoyed this class very much. There was a lot I either forgot or didn't learn previously and I enjoyed it. I would take another class by him if I had an option. I really like his teaching methods and his way to make you think. I recommend taking his class to anyone and will to anyone looking for a History Professor.
Papers upon papers. Be prepared to write. It made me a much faster writer for sure, but if you dread writing and do not care to improve upon it, this is not the professor for you.
Great class! If you enjoy some minor reading (chapters from the text are only 2-4 pages long) and writing short essays based on what you have read then this is the class for you! Read the text, answer the questions given per assignment in your own words and done.
Mr. Hines has been wonderful.
Do the work and you should pass!
TOOK PROFESSOR HINES ONLINE COURSE awesome teacher, responds quickly by email as long as you read the book prior to exams you will get an A offers extra credit at times does not accept late work LOTS OF READING AND ESSAYS PRETTY SIMPLE AND CLEAR CUT
Mr. Hines gives out extra credit, however; its not for every assignment. This whole course of course contained a lot of reading involved, but honestly are real eye openers. He's pretty straight forward in how he grades every assignment, you just have to pay close attention to what he is asking.
I took this class online so I can't speak to Mr. Hines' lectures but I found the online assignments were clear cut. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of work and I found the reading assignments to be fascinating. I would definitely take another one of his classes.
Professor Hines is a wonderful instructor. Class is very straight forward, assignments are laid out clearly and the lectures are always insightful and comedic. Being a decent writer does help in this course, but overall 10/10 would recommend.
Mr. Hines is a professor you will never forget. He makes the class very interesting and you will wish all your teachers were like him. He's funny and is in love with what he does, that's what makes the class better. I recommend him to everyone taking a history class. Nothing but respect to him and wellness.
This was my favorite class this semester! Mr. Hines is very expressive with his lectures, and makes them interesting to listen to. I highly recommend taking Mr. Hines because you get so much out of his courses and I liked it so much I'm taking him again next semester!
this professor was by far the best professor I had this past two semesters. I took him the fall for 1301 and then registered again for 1302. He's a great professor he does not have favorites and unlike other professors he actually remembers YOUR name
Great Professor overall, the class does require reading the book in order to pass. One must complete many essays which are referred to themes. Each theme is worth 20 points. There is a total of 4 Exams which are worth 40 points apiece. Each credit is given if one completes additional essays.
Great professor. Took his class online, and unlike a lot of online teachers he was always very quick to respond to emails and questions. Guidelines for grading are pretty simple. Fair amount of reading per section. Quizzes are right out of the book or additional sources he gives. You have some control over your assignments. Would take him again.
Good professor, work is fairly easy. Do not put your views into your essays. He will comment disagreeing with your view and it will effect your grade.
The instructor is great. The class is great. It's a different style of learning in the sense that you do need to read a lot and there's a lot of writing involved. He will not give you a grade you will work for it and earn what you earn.
This was anneasy class for me because I love US history. Hines was very quick to respond to any questiins or concerns.
Really loved professor Hines class. He responded quickly to emails and gave good feedback. Would definitely take his class again!
He is a very good teacher. He is very clear and the content is not hard and you will learn if you read.
Great Professor. Class straight forward. A lot of reading, I took 1301 & 1302 flex summer. Assignments and tests spread out fairly.
I was really amazed and impressed by his unbiased feedback. Really appreciated his honesty in explaining the truth about the history of all people. Excellent instructor who's knowledge and style of teaching compel you to want to learn more !!!
Overall a great professor and easily a one to be remembered. Offers multiple extra credit opportunities to receive lost points.
If you read the chapters for the essays and test, it will not be that bad. Just get ahead on essays and take advantage of the extra credit offered.
awesome professor , structered class and very well organized...
Great Professor!
Mr. Hines was an excellent Professor. I enjoyed taking his class and hope to take it again next semester.
He works with you if you're specific with your goal.
Mr. Hines is a pretty amazing Professor. His lectures are entertaining and he moves around a lot so you wont get tired fast at all. Overall great as long as you just do the work assigned which isn't that much or hard.
Mr. Hines is one of the best professors I've ever had. He expects nothing but the best from you and you wont pass if you don't give that to him. He is a very fair grader and very fun to talk to. If I could take him for every class I would. He's that great of a teacher. He is a wonderful mentor and it was an honor to learn under him.
He is super funny and makes you wanna learn!
one of the best professors I've ever had. loved his class!
Hines is very passionate and inspiring. I learned a ton in his class. my one complaint would be that there were times when the class turned into a conversation between him and a few students who were already knowledgeable about the material. When this happened I felt confused and a bit frustrated. Other than that, I was very pleased
Professor Hines is a food professor. I took him for HIST- 1301 online and assignments were all essays. complete 2 out of 4 themes every four weeks with exams avery 4 weeks. I would definitely take him again.
Great teacher, easy class just a lot of reading unless you want to look through the book the whole test which is 40 questions and he gives you 2 hours online
I took online course with Professor Hines. My brother actually recommended him. I have nothing but great things to say. A lot of reading and essays but do the work and you'll be fine.
I took Mr Hines throughout my 3 semesters at PAC for HIST 1301-1302 and World Civ 2321-2322.. There was never a day that I didn't learn anything new and his lectures were always fun and interesting. I highly recommend him for anyone that is a History fanatic.. You have to earn your grade, not an easy A. I would definitely take his class again
Professor Robert Hines was friendly and helpful. The class was pretty easy as long as you did the work. It was mostly taking the time to read the assigned chapters from the textbook and writing two essays a month about the reading assignments, then at the end of every month or so taking a quiz covering those chapters. I actually learned a lot.
He is very smart and very nice.
*I took this class Online* Super easy class! One of the most laid back professors! At the beginning of the semester you are given 12 themes, but only have to complete 6! Something happened and one of my paper didn't upload to turnitin correctly, and he let me do an extra theme and dropped the zero! Only three easy test, questions straight out book!
Awesome professor
I took the online class and did very well. This class has a lot of reading. Classwork consists of only essays, one due each week based on the assigned readings. Extra credit is offered multiple times. Tests are based only on what is in the chapters that are assigned to read. Do the work and take the exams and you will do well.
Hines is possibly one of the best instructors I have ever had the plesure of learning from. Always willing to take feedback from students that have knowledge on a subject. More than willing to work with schedule conflicts also. You WILL earn your grade, he is tough, but very fair. Participate in class, makes for interesting conversation.
He has dry sense when he responds to email. He makes you read and write which in the beginning was hard but then i fairly enjoy the writing. The book was easy to read and extra credit was great.
I was scared at first to take class online, BUT I am very glad I did. This class was very easy. Consists of lots of reading, essays, and exams on textbook material. Read the material, do your work, and turn everything in ON TIME and you will pass this class with flying colors!
Great instructor! The class has a lot of reading but as long as you read you will pass the class.
Professor is really attentive to details, follow your syllabus exactly and follow all instructions, great class! Enjoyed being a part of this experience. (Online 1301-154)
MrHines is one of the best Professors I ever had highly recommend you can tell he loves his job great class
MR. HINES IS A GREAT PROFESSOR. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
Great professor! Looking forward to taking him for another class in the fall.
Mr. Hines' is an amazing professor. His lectures were exciting and enjoyable. If you paid attention and read the material you could expect a good grade. 10/10, would take the class again.
Hard part is the excessive reading and writing, there is A LOT of reading to do. Stay ahead & read before the assignments are due or you'll fall behind fast. Essays are challenging, but just answer the questions in the assignments and you'll be fine. He's a "No Excuses" type of professor meaning no-late-work accepted or you'll get a zero.
Professor Hines lays out the class schedule pretty clear, he grades based on a point system, and there is not a lot of work for this class. Although for the assignments, you do have to read a lot, if you are not good at essays you will struggle so I suggest learning MLA format. "No excuses" type of professor so don't miss your deadlines.
Hines was great professor, he allowed me to do my best and that is all he asked for. I have completed 3 years of college and the types of courses and the way he teaches is very few and hard to find. I want to thank him for understanding college should be a great experience.
Took him as a flex course Online. Great teacher but he issues lots of essays. The only tests/exams he gives out are over the book so make sure you read it. If you read you will pass with an A.
This online course required the student to write a lot. However, it was not overwhelming and you were giving plenty of time to read and write each essay.
He was a great teacher, he was very understanding and he made taking history so much easier for me. I don't really succeed in history well and he made it easy to understand and it wasn't your typical class. I would love more teacher like him.
Mr. Hines was a great online professor. Being new to online classes I was a bit nervous for his course but it was actually fairly simple. As long as you do the homework and read the book you will pass!
I'm taking his online course and I can only say how amazing it is. There is a lot of writing and reading but you have enough time to accomplish all of in by the end of the semester. Only 6 essays per semester with 3 exams. Perfect course if you have a busy life and need flexible course. He is a "no excuse" teacher though.
Took this class online, 16 weeks. Assignments are in the syllabus for the entire semester, they are self-explanatory. However, there is not much interaction from the Professor, you pretty much teach yourself. You read a chapter, write an essay and submit. Pretty simple. Before each exam you must finish reading all chapters. No final.
I took Professor Hines course online. I really enjoyed taking this course because it's a easy A. You only have to write 6 essays, read a textbook, and complete 3 exams. All the assignments are spread out too. If you have a busy schedule, this is the course you should take. :)
This is the second course I have taken with Professor Hines. I enjoy the layout of assignments and the reading material assigned throughout the course.
I learned more about History this term than I have my entire life. I would take this class again.
Instructor is really great at organization throughout this online course.
Pretty good Teacher/class. Just make sure you follow his instructions exactly, and you'll pass with a B+ or A easily. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and Read Read Read!
Professor Hines is a funny and interesting person. His classes are fun, but he gives a lot of assignments. Expect massive research assignments, Map quizzes, Essay quizzes and 3 Major Online tests. He grades attendance as well.
His grading system is very clear and to the point. Late work isnt taken, so do what you need to do before the deadline. He lectures and shows videos, take notes! Read the chapters he recommends, theyll help in take-home quizzes. Essays arent hard, maybe just tedious. Read the syllabus to know what he expects in essays and the class in general.
Hines is a little hard to sum up. I was one of his dual-credit and honestly none of my class liked him. The assignments are fairly easy and there are hardly any guidelines it seems (I once had a friend turn in paragraphs instead of the assigned essays and get 17/20). His work was vague and confusing but if you e-mail him you'll get a semi-answer.
If you dont like writing papers, this class isnt for you. Now the papers dont have to be like 5 pages or anything, but its still a lot of writing. Prof. Hines has given awesome feedback that has helped me improve through the course. Hes easy the reading material is very interesting. And I highly recommend!
Very helpful
I think Robert Hine is a great professor. Sometimes I noticed we would have 2 or 3 assigments due in one day but as long as you stay on top of your essays and readings you will be fine.
Online Course: it was a lot of writing and reading but if you analyze the instructions well you will know how to past the class, exams a bit challenging since its all in the book and if you don't read them you have to fast skim during the exam to try and find the answers still have a chance to get it wrong still, overall decent class
I took the online class and it was a fair amount of work. You have to do two out of the four assignments for each week, and there are three online exams/quizzes. The exams are not hard if you read since the questions come from the book.
Really good professor, now that I am taking the tests I realized how much I have learned.
Response to email fast.
I didn't want to buy the book because it was a short online class, and i still got an A. Easy A class, just actually try on your homework and hell give you a pretty high grade for submitting anything.
Professor Hines is an amazing professor! He is super descriptive of what he wants and as long as you complete assignments you will get an A!
Best teacher I have had by far. Attendance is key, because he gives you all the information needed for the tests in his lectures. Makes class interesting and has passion for the subject. Plus he co-wrote/edited the textbook so he knows his stuff!
He is a great professor.
Thank you for being there and being so understanding when I had technical issues.
He's a wonderful man with a genuine passion for his subject, I mean he did co-write the textbook. I took this course online and it was set up in a great manner. Weekly essays then three exams over the course to be taken at your convenience. If you want to pass the exams READ the textbook, this is not information you can google.
I took a Summer course and it was pretty hard. There's a ton of reading, but he gives options for homework and you only have to do a portion of them. He's really responsive to emails and helpful as well! Only thing that's awful is that all homework assignments are essays and some require you to do more than one in a single assignment. :c
I took this class online. History has never been my favorite subject until I took this class. The lectures/assignments are detailed with plenty of outside resources for one to dig further into a topic. Not much extra credit was given so take advantage when offered! Read and you will be fine with exams; recommend attention to detail.
Hines was so far the best professor I've had. He is really passionate about history and makes learning fun. Had to complete 4 research papers over the course of 16 weeks, along with tests and quizzes. Assignments do come up quickly, but were pretty easy to complete. He always found a way to tie in humor into his lectures, which made the class fun.
Good class. I took both history's (1301 and 1302) with this professor. Sticks to the schedule and provides some extra credit. Class s based on writing 2 papers every two weeks and quizzes are multiple choice. I wish more classes were like his!
Im not going to lie Mr. Hines work isnt the easiest, but it was all worth it. Mr. Hines is an excellent professor, he is passionate about what hes teaching, grades fairly, and most importantly is always engaged with the students. The whole class became very attached to his excellent personality. Definitely recommend, just be ready to work!
I took Mr. Hines back in 2007. I was required to complete an Oral History Project on anyone Growing up San Antonio. I interviewed my father who I recently lost very unexpectedly. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to have done the project. It brings back so many beautiful memories of my father.
I would definitely take this class again. Do the work and you'll pass. Professor responds to emails quickly through Canvas. I actually loved his layout on how the assignments were divided into sections. Gave me time and lets me decide what I want to write about. Made it fun and easy as far as participation goes. Take his class. You won't regret it!
There is alot of assignments but they are pretty easy. You write essays mainly so this will help to improve writing skills. Very interestign topics also you will learn alot you didnt know.
I really liked this class but warning: it is only made up of papers and exams, yet both were easy because they were well explained or came from the textbook. Professor easy to get ahold of and understanding. As long as youre okay with reading and writing, easy A.
would take his class again.
Absolutely amazing ! I was never stressed during this class & the readings were less textbook and more story telling. Very great class
He is amazing!!!
Hes a funny professor, very nice and generous. He specifically says unless your dying, theres no excuse to not turning any of the assignments on time! Show up to class, taking a lot of notes. Gives good feedback on graded assignments. About 5-7 map quizzes through the semester. Great professor wouldnt mind taking his class again if I could.
Interesting topics and stories if you show up and listen to him talk you will pass.
He explains things so well. He absolutely loves what he teaches so you know he will give you the information he needs. He is also lenient on some grading assignments. Pay attention and read, you will easily pass.
Professor Hines has his online courses broken up into 3 sections. Each section has 4 topics that you choose 2 topics from to write about. This online class was great for me and my busy schedule. It allowed me to be able to make the choice of what topics I wanted to write about and also it gave me time to turn in. I would definitely take him again!
Amazing teacher! He was very passionate about what he taught. He was hilarious and everything we talked about was very interesting. The exams are a bit difficult so be sure to study for them, they are timed. You do have to present to the class and write a 7 page essay due at the end so you should start ASAP. Would take again!
He is a great teacher, I've taken two of his classes and i have had no issues. He is quick to grade and quick to respond, gives you enough time to finish homework and to read all the material. All of his courses are well organized and very well planned out.
great great proffesor highly recommend.
I took this class online during the summer semester and it was no trouble. A lot of short essays and readings. This professor grades really fast and gives good feedback.
I really liked this classes because i was able to learn more about American history. For example, on how the organization of adoption was created to help children that were living in the streets of New York.
great course!
Professor Hines does a great job of clearly stating his expectations and boundaries for the class. His course is well outlined and based a lot out of the book he edited. Great class, whet by super fast. Just be ready to read and write .
I took the online summer class. Though daunting at first, I found the experience of taking this course to be rewarding. You'll have to read and write a lot of essays, but you have the option to choose what you write about from a selection. I found the material to be very interesting. Put in the work and you can get a good grade!
He is very straight forward with his grading. He does not accept late assignments. There are a lot of essays, no discussion boards and 3 exams that are multiple choice and NOT on quizlet. He is quick to reply to messages and grades super fast. I LOVED his class. You really learn a lot. I was very intimidated at first but it was my fave class!
This guy is hands down my favorite professor ever. He really knows his history (and he's been working here for over 30 years so you know he's serious). You will definitely learn a lot in this class, but get ready to work for it. You'll likely read a few books and write a few essays but it's all worth it, trust me. Hines is a gift to his profession.
I messed up on reading one of his assignments and he didnt take the 2 essays I did cause I read that one was required and now he wont accept it. Man hes kinda of mean guy
Robert Hines is a great professor, I've had him two classes and I will be having him for a third class in the fall. I've been taking his classes online and they are really easy. Mostly paper assignments, nothing hard. His assignments were always really interesting.
Mr. Hines is a great instructor. Very easy to navigate the syllabus without extra nonsense. Very straightforward with assignment expectations. Due dates spaced out so you are not overwhelmed with all the reading. One paper a week is easy, especially when he basically gives you the prompts for the paper with many different topics to choose from!
The course is "easy" in the sense that the assignments are understandable & consistent. I appreciate that the assignments are due the same day every week. He is easy to reach out to and responds quickly. I enjoy the assignments because they were things I never knew and were interesting to read. Overall, a great professor!
Professor Hines is very passionate and funny. I have taken him twice. I would consider him a diamond. This course was very enriching, and I think that is primarily due to the textbook we used, which is Flyover History. It is edited by him and his colleagues, so it is very hard to find. However, it is a good read on its own. There is a lot writing
Professor Hines was really great. He does require a lot of reading but as long as you read and do your papers it's great. You also get to choose your own topics to write about. I would defiantly recommend this professor.
He was a great Professor. His assignments required the student to read and gain a proper understanding of the history lesson that was being covered. I think the essays were a great way of him giving assignment.
He is an excellent teacher, he is a little bit of a challenge but, I still have taken his class twice and i liked his class.
He has absolutely no set syllabus with dates, he just goes. We spent half the semester on unit 1 (out of what should've been 4). He goes off on random rants and forgets to give out quizzes when he said he would (which threw off my study habits). He adds things into lecture that has no meaning. If you like structure, this is not the class for you.
Great professor, this was my second time taking one of his classes and I would definitely choose him again
Hines is a awesome professor! He has map quizzes you have to remember along with a couple of lecture exams that include things from the books. His lectures are always fun to attend o and hes always in the best mood and ready to teach.
Great Professor! Lots of reading and papers, however, the stories are insightful, interesting and will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride!
If you don't mind writing 2-page essays weekly then this class is really good. He causes you to go beyond what's in the book and research which I actually loved. I learned more then I thought I would.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Made lectures very interesting and kept us attentive throughout the whole class. Tests are based off of book so be sure to read and pay attention during lectures. Turn in your work on time he does not accept late work! Loved Mr. Hines!
He's a really nice professor, who takes the time to comment on essays and work. I would 100% recommend him, but there are quite a bit of essays required.
I really liked the class. This was my first time doing an online class, so I was already not prepared. Once i saw the work, it did not seem bad, and it wasnt, it was more the fact that they were due so close together, so that stressed me out, especially because they were all essays. The topics were interesting enough to write about, so it was easy.
Its all essay except 3 test, but the topics were interesting so it made for easy writing. I dont really like writing essays so I thought it would terrible, but really it was an interesting class. Would take another class with this professor.
Good at getting back to you, I took a maymester and had at least one one-two page essays due a day. Tests aren't bad, make sure you read. Book is a pain to find.
lots of reading and essays!
I took this class as a flex 2/ Maymester class. What saved me was getting a head start on the assignments before the class started! There are a lot of essays to write, 3 exams and plenty of reading. Overall, not a bad class if you can keep up.
Mr. Hines was a great teacher! Everything is laid out from the beginning in his syllabus. There is a lot of reading to be done, but as long as you do the work and make detailed contributions you should be ok. I would take other classes led by him in the future if I had to.
I really liked how even though I was going through a tough time throughout the semester, he seemed to care about how well I am doing in class.
He's an awesome teacher and his assignments are interesting.
Truly enjoyed this class and will be taking future classes from Mr. Hines.
Mr. Hines is one of the best Professors! He teaches in a way that changes how you look at History! I throughly enjoyed his class! You will write essays but they are easy! Expect to read the textbook and the exams are open note and open book! Hes a very caring and funny professor! If you want a class thats worth your time and money pick him!
Professor Hines, is really a great teacher. His lecture were very interesting even to a person who doesnt like history. You will have to write essays but he doesnt grade tough. The reading for the chapters arent that long but they have a lot of information so take notes and during class too you will be fine.
I really wish I had the opportunity to take this class in person!! Yes ! there is tons of reading and I dreaded it at first but after a couple of days I was so into it. You do have a lot of essays due and four exams total. The professor is caring and he actually gives you feedback and makes sure you are doing okay! I would totally take him again
I couldnt recommend this professor enough. Amazing feedback and would happily take him again. You do have to read a lot and write a lot of essays but when dont you have to that in classes? Amazing professor.
Professor Hines is amazing! I truly enjoyed his class. The assignments were well explained. The subjects were always interesting.
The work was not too difficult, it was just a lot of it. Professor Hines was very helpful when I asked questions and when I needed help, he did a great job in providing that help. So long as you are okay with asking questions when you need help, you will be able to pass the class.
Professor Hines challenges you in a way you feel is too much, but at the end of the course glad he did. I learned so much from this class. Thanks you.
Mr. Hines' course was one of the best I have taken, as it opened my view on the historical past of our world, caused me to reevaluate my mindset, and taught the side of history that is rarely seen. Mr. Hines is quite interactive with his students, either offering advice or praise on their assignments. I would definitely recommend his course again!
Solid class where learning comes through reading and writing.
Great class, very well put together, LOVE the textbok and the way we got to pick assignments and use the textbook for exams. I have never taken a history class like this before, thank you for the very fast 3 weeks! I told my 13 year old that if he goes to Alamo Colleges when he is older, he should take Professor Hine's class.
The best course I've taken so far! I highly recommend professor Hines if you're looking for a straight forward class. I understood all materials and was prepared from the start.
I took this class as a Maymester course. The Textbook is an easy read. Its a lot of reading and essays. However, the assignment questions made it easy to write essays off of. As long as you answered each question you got the full grade. It was easy to get a good grade on your essays. Only 3 Exams and Mr. Hines gives more than enough time.
Great professor! I signed up for his online History course for the summer and although it is a lot of writing, the topics are very interesting and is not too time consuming. Great course!
Took the class online was very easy with the textbook. If you put effort you can get a good A or a solid B+. I would take the class again I really enjoyed the class with working full time the online part made it easy.
This class is super easy! Most of all the assignments are based on the textbooks, make sure you read them. If you read the textbooks it will be an easy A!
As long as you do your essays as best as you can and read for the exams you will do good!
Excellent professor. Took this course in a condensed 4-week Summer session. Lots of reading and lots of writing, perhaps mainly because of how condensed the term was. Not a tough grader, as long as you can form coherent thoughts on an essay and keep the grammar errors to a minimum. His expectations are clear, along with the grading criteria.
A lot of reading. Assignments consist of two page essays. He lets you know exactly how he wants the essay, so no biggie. He offers extra credit through the course. The one thing I did not like about the course was the test questions were extremely, extremely tricky. Almost impossible to make a 100, no matter how hard I tried.
Love this class! great professor!
He is a good professor and he even records the zoom calls so you wont miss anything. Also answer emails on a regular basis and keeps contact with his students.
Is very passionate about his course and very knowledgeable
I loved the format of this online class. One essay a week, unless there is an exam. For each essay he has multiple topics to choose from. I learned a lot and it was not a stressful class.
essays and exams are a breeze if you read the textbook or articles attached for the essay, extra credit is available , would recommend this class
As long as you read and do your assignment you will pass. Good professor would take again. I learned a lot about history in this class!
If you take history take it with Professor Hines! He focuses on events that you dont usually get taught about & all the topics are interesting especially because of how passionate he is! All the assignments are essays but they arent difficult because he explains how to write them! Test material comes directly from the textbook and lectures!
He is tough grader but would take his class again. If you read and do the work its a easy A. He gives you papers to choose from I say do all of them if your not a good paper writer like me other them that he is a wonderful teacher.
The Flyover History book he uses is easy to follow. Much better than a huge history book. He comments on your essays and is good about responding to your emails.
He is a great Professor, I strongly recommend him for any history courses.
Mr. Hines is a great teacher. I have taken his 1301 and 1302 as a wintermester class. I greatly appreciate his lectures and assignments. For the assignments he requires 3/4 essays to be done before taking an exam over all of the chapters for both 16 week and wintermester classes. If ever need more history classes I would take another class with him
Overall glass went smoothly . A lot of ready and essays, but they were not difficult . There are a lot of opportunities for extra credit if needed.
I took Professor Hines last semester and immediately knew I wanted to sign up for him this semester. Although there is weekly reading, I've never had to read anything more than 5 pages for an assignment, and the prompt questions he provides are easy to follow. Tests are open book, but it is still very beneficial to read everything beforehand.
Great professor. Nothing negative to say, would definitely take again.
Great teacher but serious about deadlines
The class was just as expected.
This class was very easy, however, it does require a lot of reading and writing. Professor Hines requires your to do 8 out of 12 essays through the semester along with the exams assigned. Very straightforward class, would take again.
I took Hist 1032 during the Maymester session. It was a relatively easy and straight forward class. All you need to do is 8 out of 12 essays in 3 weeks and the 3 exams. Mr. Hines was a really good professor for an online summer class.
Wasn't expecting so much writing when going in, but everything was clearly explained and required material was readily available. Would definitely take this Professor's class again.
Professor Hines was a really great teacher for being an online course. He was always attentive to any questions I emailed him. He gives the opportunity for extra credit on almost every assignment. the assignments consist of an essay almost every day so if you're comfortable with writing 1-2 page essays this is the course for you. :)
Professor Hines is a great professor who gives feedback quickly. This class has a lot of essays, but it's manageable and you can reach out for help anytime. The prompts are easy to follow as is, and his exams are open book but doing the readings before is helpful.
History has not always been my favorite subject to learn but Mr. Hines made it very easy to understand and got you thinking about how the past relates to todays society.
This was a great online class, alot of writing but very informational.
This is honestly an interesting class. There is lots of reading and lots of writing but nothing too bad, in all it was pretty easy and I enjoyed it
I had him for an online summer flex course. There were assigned readings, 3 essays, and a test due each week. If you just answered his questions and followed his instructions it was an easy 100 on the essays. Exams were open note, he gives the links to the readings for the test to look back on.
It is a great course being a flex class I did it in 8 weeks and its been great but get ready to read and write if not this class may not be for you
I took this course online over the summer. overall his online class was not very difficult. Weekly essay assignments, not graded harshly, just answer what he is asking for. Also there are A LOT of readings, no textbooks just online articles and pages, this where essays and exam Qs come from. My opinion, not a hard just requires a lot of time
This class is heavy in essays, but you can complete 8 out of the 12 assigned.
I took this as a summer 8-week course. Easy class just lots of reading and writing, but Professor Hines is a fair grader and I genuinely enjoyed the course.
Robert Hines is one of the BEST professors I have ever had! He really cares about what he teaches and its an amazing time no matter what class you take of his. I definitely recommend taking his class face to face.
I was out of school for a long time and I will say this professor was a blessing. There are a lot of papers you have to write, but he is not picky. As long as you prove that you read the materials, you're good! Assignments and tests and based on the book, so just read your chapters! Hands down one of the most caring and easy going professors around
Professor Hines is by far the easiest class I have taken. There's a lot of reading and writing. There are weekly essays due, but they're super easy. His tests are also easy if you read the material. You are able to do 8 out of the 12 assignments he gives you. There is extra credit in some of the homework. I recommend doing all assignments.
Class has a lot of reading and writing but the materials given are very informative and the feedback given is inspiring took Professor Hines twice this semester and both classes went smoothly, However if you do not like writing i would stay away from this course most assignments are essays.
The homework included parts of history I was never taught before and went in depth. As long as you follow the syllabus essay outline and take advantage of the extra credit you should be more than fine.
He is amazing, he does not accept late work and it is expected to be done on time, however they're always due on the same day so there is no reason why it shouldn't get done. There is a lot of reading that is needed to be done but besides that the assignments and getting them done are easy, and I liked it because I knew what was expected every week
The class was great because it was at your own pace and the assignments were easy.
I took Professor Hines for 1301 and 1302 and really enjoyed taking his class. There is a lot of reading, but the assignments are due weekly and explained in detail of what is expected. As long as you keep up with assignments and turn in weekly essays this class is really an easy A. I got a low B at my own fault on not turning in an essay or two.
Robert Hines is a great professor plenty of writing will be done in this class
Great class, was really easy to pass and he's understanding, got covid during his class and was given an extension. 10/10 would recommend !
I loved this class! He is extremely helpful and personable, as well as understanding and sympathetic. All he expects is for one to read the material give and write insightful essays; just to make sure one understands the lesson. Expectations are reasonable and give leeway in case of unexpected circumstances. Just don't be like me and stay focused!
I took Professor Hines for history 1302 and I highly reccomend him to other students. He is very understanding and reasonable. LOTS OF READING! Weekly essays, about five paragraphs. Very easy A, but of course you get out what you put in.
Good Professor, very understanding.
my second time taking this teacher, I love all the stories we have to read for this class it makes the assignments so much easier. would very much recommend taking his classes.
the class was great and manageable as long as you do the work.
This course was a bit difficult since it was my first semester at PAC and I was taking History 2, although I passed the course Professor Hines seemed a little rough when it came to grading. Overall good.
Professor Robert Hines, was probably one of the best "fully distance" professors ever. The grading criteria was VERY fair. If you're taking his class, just do yourself the favor and read the OER's. No textbook is required. It's really that simple. I currently have a 91 and I have my final this Thursday.
Easy class, take it.
I liked the class. It was easy. All you have to do is write about 8 assignments out of 12. but there are long articles you need to read to pass the exams. But overall, it was not bad. I definitely recommend it.
Mr. Hines is a VERY good professor. He explains everyday from day 1. He answers emails right away. Expect to read ALOT. I have taken Mr. Hines for both Hist 1 and 2, and he's amazing. I haven't been to school in years and this man helped me all the way though THANK U SIR FOR EVERYTHING! would definitely recommend him.
Just follow the requirements and be chatting with the professor for questions is encouraged
I was intimidated to take this online course and it was one of the best delivered and most fun ones I have ever taken. I really enjoyed learning at my own pace and the support offered. This is exaclty what you hope you get when you take an online class honestly, I hope the professor sees this because I forgot to thank him at the end of the semester
I highly recommend taking Professor Hines for HISTORY-1301. I took his class online and loved everything about his class so retook him for HISTORY-1302 online. There is no book required as all the reading comes from OERs. Be prepared to read. All exam questions come from the OERs. His grading is pretty self-explanatory.
You only do 6 out of 12 assignments. I did 5 and still got a B. There were 3 exams. He is super nice! This was an online course.
You only do 6 out of 12 assignments. I did 5 and still got a B. There were 3 exams. Read the OER's before taking the test!
Professor Hines provides all the readings to support the quizzes. Respondes to messages or emails same day. Everything is provided to successfully pass the class. Definitely would take another class from Professor Hines.
Very Understanding good professor for HIST 1301 and 1302
Prof. Hines is a great professor. His course is made up of essays and tests. There are a total of 12 essays but, only 8 are required. After 3 essay assignments there is a test over the material he provides. The questions are directly from the readings and are easy if you pay attention and do the readings. Easy course, easy A.
There was lots of reading, but assignments and quizzes were generally simple and helped with comprehension of the required readings. I am not a fan of history, but this course made it bearable.
Professor Hines states what he expects from us. Very good professor!
The Professor is very knowledgeable and is reasonable in certain situations.
Professor Hines is a good instructor, it simple do the work 8 out of 12 essays and 3-4 exams. I took a 16 week online course with him. Read what you have to, write the essays and you can and will receive a passing grade. I like that he puts the assignments out so you can get ahead. Take him you will not regret it.
Wonderful Time with Mr. HInes
Professor Hines class was good for me. All assignments were open and if you wanted and could finish your work early, you didn't have to wait until a certain time, you could just knock them out.
He is very clear when giving instructions and is very lenient !
The professor's ability to pick different topics to write about that are both interesting, informative, and related to a specific topic is one of the reasons I like him so much. Every assignment is either an essay or an exam, but regardless the material was mostly easy to understand.
If you follow his format for the essays you will get full credit for all papers
I took Professor Hines for an on-line course and he was absolutely amazing! If any questions or concerns arouse he would email me promptly. Assignment instructions are easy to follow and understand. All essays, however for each assignment you had at least 3 essays to choose from. All articles were interesting, learned a lot from this specific class
I took Professor Hines 5 week online class. He had every assignment and quiz lined out perfectly, and the instructions were clear and to the point. His response time was like no other, I would say within 12 hours. There is a lot reading but the information is good.
The professor had everything lined up the moment it was given to me; it was very clear and understandable. He gives great feedback, too; I highly recommend it if you can handle lots of reading!
Professor Hines is a great instructor, he was straight forward on what was needed to succeed this class and if there were something that needed to be fixed with your assignments he would point it out which brings awareness on what you must improve next time.
Read between the lines of the syllabus and the work, and just start and do it.
Professor Hines' class is straightforward - read the materials, submit the assignments, and you'll do well. The workload is manageable, and he provides helpful feedback. UnstuckStudy AI was a game-changer for me in preparing for the exams.
Easy class, read the syllabus and follow the formats for the essay's and you'll be fine. Makes the class very interesting and engaging, I highly recommend Professor Hines!
Mr. Hines does not use a textbook but does provide daily OER's that need to be read for an exam at the end of the week. Do the readings and you'll do fine. Quick to respond when reaching out.
Very attentive and responded very quickly. Gives great explanations and is super caring of students.
It's all reading... just do the reading really
Amazing professor! I had Professor Hines for History 1 & 2. He lets you know what is expected in his class right away. You will not have a hard time figuring things out with him. He responds in time and is helpful. I really enjoyed his class, depending on the semester you will be doing essays but they are not hard as long as you follow his rules.
Professor made the course easy and well informed.
At first, the work load looks like a lot, but when you read the syllabus it is actually less. There are several opportunities for extra credit. Professor Hines gives you plenty of time to complete assignments. It is a lot of reading/writing, but overall not a lot to do. Defiantly would recommend Professor Hines!!
Professor Hines was available even after hours when I had a question or concern in regard to an assignment. He really wants his students to succeed.
If you like writing papers, this is the class for you. It felt like I was in English class again. I don't understand how writing papers is teaching us. On a positive note, he does offer extra credit and is replies quick to emails.
Professor Hines was a pleasure to work with! I took him for HIST 1301, and HIST 1302. He is very understanding, and offers extra credit if needed. I highly recommend taking his class!
Straightforward class, easy to understand, and great teacher.
Would defiantly recommend this class. Professor Hines is very understanding. He wants his student to succeed. All he ask is that you turn in your essays in your own words. He gives many chances for extra credit and replies within 24 hours if you have any questions about an assignment.
This class was well organized self-paced online history course with a good variety of essays and reading material. The workload was fair, the expectations for the class were clear and the assignments helped strengthen my understating of all the subjects covered. I would very much recommend this class to other students.
He is very clear about what he expects & what he wants in the essays. There is a lot of reading. I liked that I got to choose which papers to write & there were some to skip. The exams were hard. He might need to check his tests. Some of the questions are not worded correctly & the last exam asked questions that were not on any of the OERs.
I have had Professor Hines for both 1301 and 1302, and he is an excellent professor. I really enjoyed his assignments and grading structure for our essays. He is truly outstanding!
Mr. Hines was an excellent professor and I enjoyed his class. He always responded promptly if I had any questions and explained any guidelines I didn't always understand. He grades fairly and gives plenty of time to complete assignments. Overall, he was a good professor and kind to me, and I would take his class again if needed or chose too.
The class requires a lot of reading but it is extremely easy. On another note, and to keep it PG, as an African American student I would not recommend taking his class if you are a minority. To say the least
