I have had him for several classes. I think Prof Hoff cares more than anyone ever about his students and their grades. He tries to be so clear and his lectures are also interested. I struggled a bit in Behavior Mod but he is an AMAZING teacher.

I was pretty nervous about this course, but everything is explained so clearly that it is almost easy to learn. Very funny and down-to-earth.

Wow! This guy knows his stuff AND has awesome stories. he is very tough. Hint if you read the chapter summary, answer the chapter questions, pay attention, and have a pulse you'll get a B. If you read the chapter and do all the above, you'll get an A. he loves people who participate, so don't be shy. Awesome guy. Cute impish grin too.

Exceptionally clear and well-prepared. Handouts very helpful. His enthusiasm for psych really is contagious!

I had heard he wasn't that great, but I really liked my abnormal psych class. He did an excellent job of making the material come alive and help you connect to it. "This is a class about you and the people you know." I have never had such a rich psych class. They can be so dry. I highly recommend.

A very demanding but exciting class. I really feel like I am learning an awesome amount!

Very good lectures, weekly quizzes, a few exams, some reports from students. Really an awesome course. I'm thinking of switching majors or maybe double majoring.

His sense of humor is great! Sees things from students' perspective and doesn't make you feel stupid when you ask questions. One of my favs.

I am really excited by everything we are hearing about! The study guides are helpful and all the lectures are amazing! Quizzes can be hard but I guess they keep me up with the reading.

Pros: Very good lectures, always interesting, will do anything to help students who show they are trying, simply a great teacher. Cons: high expectations, fast pace.

Honors Int. to Psych was ridiculously hard. He's a nice guy, but his expectations are sky high.

Hoff actualy shows a passion for what he is teaching. It is so refreshing. He is really easy to talk to when you are having trouble. Hard class. Take good notes and participate to do well.

Phenomenal teacher. The one saving grace of the Mercyhurst Psych. department. His lectures are coherent and very interesting. Very passionate guy. Wish I could say the same for the rest of the department.

professor hoff is nice and very interested in the material he teaches. he works at a very fast pace and expects people to know very small details when taking the exams. be prepared for all scantron tests and a presentation. tests are huge- 80 percent of your grade.

The course on drugs and behavior is really eye-opening and I learned alot. Teacher is pretty cool and is so smart. Very helpful. Great teacher, period.

He knows his stuff and communicates it well. Dr. Hoff's good sense of humor really helps for an early morning class.

Dr. Hoff is an excellent teacher, but this is a difficult course and you have to do the reading or else you're dead. He has been helpful to me.

Really really good

Dr. Hoff was my teachers for Honors Psych and it was a fast-paced and exciting course. Every topic we discussed was interesting and Dr. Hoff explained things very clearly, and everything came together at the end of the course. Great course!

Proffessor Hoff is very enthusiastic about the brain and his explanations are very helpful. I have decided to minor in neuroscience and want to learn all about the activities of the brain.

Just for everyone's knowledge Professor Hoff does not have a Ph.D. Do not call him Dr.Hoff. He is a great Professor. He is very enthusiastic about every topic he covers! He utilizes every avenue to learn from (ie: video, lecture, drawings, study guides, and writes some notes on the board). Not always very approachable, but a great to learn from.

I graduate this May as a psych major and have loved all my psych profs. Dr. Hoff has been very very helpful and encouraging and I have learned a lot in his courses (I've taken all his courses).

This is my second Honors course and I am enjoying it and learning a great amount. Dr. Hoff is very good at making difficult things clear. The videos are well chosen and very helpful. Excellent course, really.

Inspiring. This is the final class I will take from Dr. Hoff before graduation and I've learned so much from this man. I may finally get an A in a Hoff course! My advice is not to miss class and seek help b4 you get behind. Very intelligent, enthusistic, loves what he does.

Absolutely wonderful teacher. Lessons are very clear and interesting. He has notes and also has many helpful and interesting videos as well. He gives study guides for every test and everything on the study guide is exactly what's on the test. Go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine. By far my favorite teacher at Mercyhurst.

Prof Hoff's classes are really the only ones I really look forward to. He makes you really work and pay attention. I love his sense of humor!

Also took him for Psych-221-Abnormal Psych. Material is very interesting and he lectures straight from memory and uses videos. Very intelligent. Says no attendance policy but participation counts toward portfolio grade so don't skip too often. Gives a study guide for each test that covers 95% of the material. No outside homework. Would take again.

He makes you feel bad about asking for help or asking questions. Acts as if his class is the only class you're taking at that time. Assigns study guides with 30 pages typed up. However, rewarding when you do well. Hard to actually learn in classes because so concerned with memorization of ALL the info.

What can I say about this course. Hardest course in the department. Super smart teacher who expects you to come to class prepared and keep up. If you do that, you'll do fine. He bends over backward to help you succeed.

What can be said about Professor Hoff. He is an amazing man and enthusiastic. He is one of the most brilliant men I have ever had the privilege to study under. He is very open and passionate in our field. I enjoy talking to him and being mentored by him. Rob thank you for helping me see my potential.

Best professor at Mercyhurst

Professor Hoff is the best professor I have had at Mercyhurst. You can tell he really cares about learning and the students he teaches. He is also very accommodating to student needs and is very understanding that students have busy lives as well. Outstanding professor and person as a whole.

Without the study guides, I don't know how you'd pass a test. Professor Hoff is so highly educated and intelligent that it is overwhelming. Yet, he is such an understanding professor that truly takes care of his students which makes his material matter even more.

Love this teacher! He really enjoys what he does and his enthusiasm is contagious. Tests are reasonable but you do need to study. I'm picking up a psych minor after taking two Hoff courses. Recommended.
