He cares about his students and his students' grades. He is extremely helpful and will bend over backwards every student. He grades fairly, meaning what you get is what you deserve, but he is so helpful, everyone should pass his class. I had him for lab so attendance isn't mandatory. Extremely enthusiastic. Loves his subject. I would take him again

He is super helpful. he is funny and down to earth. he loves biology which makes the lab more interesting. i would suggest that if you can...take him. you will look forward to going to class with him.

Bio I was a disaster for me, and I was dreading Bio II. I was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Major, though. He makes the subject interesting, and the tests aren't extremely hard as long as you go to class and study. He's a funny guy, and you can tell he really loves to teach this subject! I recommend him!

Despite this only being his second year of teaching, Dr. Major has a very student-centric teaching philosophy that even veteran professors could take a lesson from. He makes it his mission to get his class engaged regardless of their majors. Also very funny if you're paying attention. He gives you the grade you *deserve.* Highly recommended.

He makes class fun, the notes are all on moodle so going to class isnt necessary...The test are challenging but easy to get a C..and a B if you study alot..in class quizes are easy because he lets you copy off of the person sitting next to you...all around good class..and yes other profs at IUP should take a interpersonal lesson from this guy.

Major is awesome!! I would love to take him all over again. He's completely straight forward about everything, especially how he feels about things (and people in the class.) He'll call you out for the most random things, and its hilarious. I usually do terrible in bio, but he made everything perfectly clear. TAKE HIM.

It's hard to find criticism for this guy. Passionate, energetic, helpful, and engages the class. A subtle but effective sense of humor, as well. He loves what he does and his teaching style is top notch. His tests can catch you off guard if you don't prepare, but if you take his classes seriously, you'll be a biology powerhouse.

I had Major for my lab class. He was awesome. The class wasn't hard at all just come to class if you don't understand he will help no matter how stupid the question. He gets a A+++ on my count if you need a lab teacher he's your guy!!!

Dr. Major is a great professor and I would recommend him to anyone. Before having this class I had no interest in Bio, but he mad it fun and interesting. He was very helpful and if you attended class and showed that you also cared you will get a good grade. Drops lowest exam and the quizes are very easy. Lab grade will help you with lecture.

Dr. Major was the best "science" teacher I've ever had. He truly knows his stuff and tries his best to put it on terms college students needing his class for their major to understand and benefit from. Very fair, light hearted and fun. Would without a doubt take another class from him. All he asks is that you care and he'll do the rest.

Simply put, he's the best. He is NOT a free A; you have to work for it. But if you do, you'll learn a LOT about biology and have some fun along the way. He's also very good for the lower level BIOL courses - one of the best when it comes to introducing biology to non-science majors. Extremely helpful, good sense of humor. AsI said: the best.

Dr. Major is one of the (if not the) best professors I've ever had. It is clear from Day 1 of his class that he loves what he does, and is so passionate about it. You will not meet a more knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful professor on this campus. If you have a chance to take his course, do it. You will not regret it.

This class was easily one of my favorites! The material is complex but very interesting if you take the time to learn it. Dr. Major focuses on the molecular components of development but he makes it very easy to understand because he applies the knowledge to real world examples. Exams are tough but he will work with you to help you understand

Absolutely loved Dr. Major. He keeps his lectures short and always lets you out early, definitely keeps class so entertaining and always making his students laugh. Great guy, helps you out if you don't understand something. Makes an effort to learn everyone's names. Hilarious, class is never boring. He doesn't believe in using textbooks so that was awesome. Only downfall is that his tests are awful and you will most likely almost fail all of them and think you passed.

Incredibly passionate about Developmental biology, and gets disappointed when no one else cares about things, but tries very hard to make students smile and tells interesting stories. He cares about the students more than most professors do. Also, the lab is very easy (he does the experiments for you).

Loved this class, was so easy! But if you don't come to class you probably won't do too well. He's very entertaining with his jokes and is passionate about what he teaches. Doesn't require textbook and gives tons of extra credit (his quizzes). Exams are fairly easy if you pay attention in class.

I absolutely LOVE this professor. If I would have had anyone else I probably would have failed. He give quizzes but they help. I am passing with an A and I wish every professor was like him. Great teacher, he is good at keeping the lecture fun. Has a great sense of humor, definitely one of my favorite profs. The tests are hard. GO TO CLASS. You're missing out if you don't. Was great for biology 202. Tests exactly on what the lecture is, really no point in getting the book. Gives "pop quizzes" with test questions or very similar to questions on the test. He goes over the quiz and lets you change all your answers so they are right before you hand it in. These scale to a test grade, so I wouldn't skip class.

His class is like being taken on a journey through the middle earth of Developmental Biology. He is so passionate, and invested in the topics he addresses. You won't be bored, that being said, it is not a walk in the park, you will have to study. Don't buy the book, you can get everything you need from the power points, and go to class.

Fantastic professor. The best I've take at IUP. I recommend him to anyone and everyone. He gives quizzes weekly but gives you the answers for the quizzes so you get a 100 on them as long as you show up. He cares a lot about his field and he cares a lot about his students. He is an amazing professor. He tried to make lecture as interesting as possible, and frequently told stories between subjects. He gives quizzes once a week, but helps you with all of the answers so you can always get 100%.

This man was my biology life saver. He gets that the students in his class aren't trying to be biologists so he makes his lectures fun and interesting. If you go to class and 20% of the class didn't show up, he'll give you a quiz grade for showing up. Trust me, they add up. I wish I was a bio major so that I could take him so much more. Cool dude

Dr. Major is honestly one of, if not, the best professors on this campus by far! During this class, he laid out everything you absolutely need to know to understand the scope of the class. In case you were worried about exams, don't because he explains everything in great detail during his pre-exam review sessions. This guy checks all of the boxes.

Though I struggled in his course, Dr. Major shows a passion for what he taught and a passion to further educate students on biology. I wish every professor was like him. His slides match with the exam material making it easy to study for. He always tries to help with any questions that students have and try to apply the material to all situations

There is an optional book, but everything on the exam comes from the lectures posted. Some pop quizzes, but we complete them with him as an &quot;attendance &amp; participation grade.&quot; One con is that your grade relies almost entirely on your exam grades, and you get, I believe, 3-4 big exams (60 questions) all multiple choice. The Final is not cumulative.

Hands down one of the best prof's I ever had. I have only ever taken one BIO class my life and disliked BIO in general. Dr. Major made lecture enjoyable and fun to attend. Very easy to contact and work with if you ever have problems. Recorded ever lecture and has easy quizes/exams if you study a bit.

Dr. Major is easily my favorite professor. If I was having a difficult time, he would answer emails immediately, and was incredibly understanding. He tries to keep energy up during class, and his enthusiasm for science really helped with processing the material. Best professor at IUP. He's caring, funny, and literally the best. I wish he was my only professor for all my science courses. His tests aren't bad and the practice quizzes are on the exams. Dr. Major is a VERY good instructor. This class had difficult material to understand but Dr. Major was able to offer ways to study so that you can understand whats going on. Make sure to attend his class because if you do, you will have a 100% in quizzes. You definitely have to work for your grade but its is worth it. You will pass!

Dr.Major made learning Biology fun, he made every lecture interesting and found creative ways to keep the whole class engaged. Whenever I needed help or just wanted to talk he was always there to help. As long as you go to class or review the slides on your own time this class will be a fun breeze.

Easy class. He is extremely passionate about genetics, and I thought he made the material pretty simple to understand. His exams and quizzes were online, and he is just a chill dude. He will answer any questions you have.

This prof made it ten times easier to understand any material he puts in front of you. He is kind and stated multiple times how much he cares for his students and their learning.

Very straightforward. I took Human genetics and health online and there was a lecture and one 4 question quiz each week and that was it. It was very manageable and never had to do anything out of multiple choice.

Great class. Participation with video lectures is a must to keep up with material. All materials were presented in a orderly fashion and clearly explained.

I took BIOL106 in a fast 3-week summer session. Take this class if you can. It was very easy. There were 10 quizzes and 5 exams, with no textbook required. All materials were on D2L. You must stay on top of the work since you can't work ahead. If you do, getting an A is very doable. I'd definitely take an online course with this professor again.

He may be the sweetest professor at the school. Professor Major adores teaching, though he doesn't love teaching online as much. He will not overload you with work, especially if you aren't a bio major, and if you need help he will do everything in his power to make things easy for you. He wants you to learn, and the class was very low pressure.
