tough class
2 exams: midterm and final. 1 group proj. 2 hw assignments.easy, time consuming. 5 quizzes to prep for exam. questions on quiz will be on exam. use CD from text and publisher's site for test prep. questions on exam are EXACTLY the same. i got a B- on the midterm because i didn't know how to prepare. did alot better on final. use text cd. i got a B.
There are 2 tests: a midterm and a final. About 4-5 online quizzes and one group project. Tests are a little had part multiple choice part problem solving Q's. USE STUDY GUIDES that he posts on blackboard...they are identical to test questions. Overall nice teacher
he is really helpful and tries to make sure his students understand the material. seems hard but just have to study. one midterm and final with group project and online quizes. study the problems for the tests. multible choice part will be similiar to quizes online.
too much busy work! his lectures do help understand and tests are reasonable! His class is easy if you keep up with the material. Gives dumb assignments that other ids porfessors spare
GREAT PROFESSOR...VERY HELPFUL, PREPARES YOU WELL FOR THE EXAMS..OVERALL AN AWESOME TEACHER .. TAKE HIM FOR THIS CLASS!!!!
Great professor, eager to help students.
Nice guy, but not as a teacher...BORING!!! I feel like I learned more from the book.. He is unclear.
He is a nice guy but I took him once a week. He spent 45 minutes talking about current events and the next two hours going off on tangents about Intel and Toyota. He reads off the slides. I did not gain much from going to class. I would definitely not recommend taking him for IDS 302. I do not feel as though I learned anything.
Unfortunately, this class is filled w/boring material that most kids aren't interested in. In class he reads straight off the slides, which is very boring. Tests are average difficulty. He has a couple easy projects that help fluff your grade. If you plan on ditching class, at least go to the one right before the test..he reviews.
Not a hard class, just filled with pointless, busy work. 1 cumulative final (IMPOSSIBLE TO STUDY FOR DUE TO UNFOCUSED TEACHING), weekly blogs and comments, wiki article project, and a process flow project. Nice guy but doesn't teach effectively.
The most useless class I have ever taken including classes that i've taken in my undergrad. 45 mins of current events, 10 mins of boring slide readings, and 20-25 mins of student presentation. Lots of pointless assignments. I came to 5 class meets MAX and still managed to get an A. Want to raise your GPA? take this course. Don't expect to learn.
Easy class. Don't need to go to get an A. Just do the work and youre good. He doesnt take attendance and everything done in class is pointless and can be learned by reading the book.
This class is extremely boring!! He loves to talk about the news for most of the class. He is not clear on the concepts he talks about in class and puts something else on the tests. Not a fun class but if you are a business major your in trouble!
Easy A. Professor has totally checked out. No need to go to any class. By the last class there were like 8 people there and he didn't give a crap. Waste of time and money but required.
Nice guy but extremely BORING. Just reads over online notes in class so class isn't necessary I stopped going halfway through the semester. Make sure you have a PC, or windows installed on your MAC because the HW assignments require it. 6 quizzes, 3 hw assignments, a final and a midterm. Study quizzes because tests are the same questions.
Boring self centered and hapless as a lecturer. He cuts off anyone asking a question. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, there are other professors teaching op systems take them
Way too much info presented at each lecture, which is all read off of powerpoint slides. Subject is interesting just overwhelming. The textbook is not required, but I read on my own cuz the slides were unclear. Definitely possible to get an A you just need to be prepared to study and memorize a lot. Midterm, final, and group term paper.
Judge teaches the information well but you need to have some initiative to do well in this class because he doesn't go into everything very deeply. Assignments are fairly easy and require moderate effort but if you do miss something on one of them, he is fairly lenient. As long as you study the text, the midterm and final will be very easy.
Good teacher, class ok, but MAC users beware: DO NOT take this prof. if you do not have access to a Windows-based computer. You will need to be able to D/L windows-only programs for assignments to pass this class. Otherwise the assignments are the majority of the grade, class is front loaded work wise, and quizzes are straight out of the book
Good teacher. Horrible class. 2 hour and 40 minute long lecture at the end of the day. The guy can really drone on. Besides the class itself he is a good teacher. He loves what he does, but be prepared for pop quizzes. Also the projects are tedious and boring. He is very helpful when installing programs but otherwise yeah... good luck.
There's 6 quizzes 2 tests and I think 4 projects. The project directions are super unclear and will grade you down to 89% for no reason. The tests cover so much info it's nearly impossible to master everything. The test is the quiz questions, but the test bank is large. You need to read the chapters before the online quiz in order to get 100.
Professor Judge really knows his stuff. His class really is easy. He gives you so many assignments that you get 100% on, just for doing them. You really don't need the book. Just study the slides before the tests, and you can easily get an A on them. Believe me this is not a class that you will be stressing out on. Very nice guy, take him.
Had him for MIS 180. 2 midterms, 6 quizzes, 3 projects. Projects are really easy & good grade boosters. To do well on the quizzes u have to study the lectures beforehand. Prof knows his stuff, so ask questions if you don't know something. There is a TON of information to memorize for the midterms but study hard & buy the textbook & youll be fine.
Professor Judge teaches the subject really well. He definitely knows his stuff. Also extremely helpful when it comes to all the projects and homework. Very responsive to emails. "Pop-Quizzes" after ever chapter. Midterm & final study hard for them! Completely recommend this class to business majors.
He is very knowledgeable about the subject. There are 6 pop quizzes and the test are pretty much just memorizing the notes.
Stay away! 25 question quizes 25 minutes with calculations and the detailed questions. Class is interesting, it the quizes and test that are horrible. Multiple projects are due and he doesn't give directions on how to complete them. Let's a TA grade for him. Openly says he doesn't know whatare on his quizes.
Spends a lot of time on “filler stories” and only briefly reviews the slides with information you will need on tests. He doesn’t change the tests, so if you know someone who has taken him and can get the tests from them (which many students did) then it will be a very easy class. If you don’t have that luxury, be prepared to teach yourself.
Avoid. 2 Tests, chapter quizzes, and random projects. Lectures help only on certain things for the test and projects, but 90% of lecture is just him talking at you. Reading the book only goes so far, the majority of quizzes/tests are on minute, word-for-word details from the book.
Like being stressed out take this class, you will be set up to fail. He assigns projects & programs you will have to download that are due in 4 days. The exams are hard and 7 ch. worth of material without a study guide. The main topic you will learn is how he loves to talk about himself each day of the class. No clear instructions in this class.
I truly enjoyed Professor Judge's class. Although he used slides and teaches straight from the book he makes up for it by giving great examples about his own personal experiences in the business world along with what's going on in the news. Tests are not that hard as long as you read the chapters & take the required and practice quizzes.
1 midterm, 1 final. A couple projects with Simnet, Excel, and Access. 1 online quiz per chapter. He doesn't curve/drop scores. You have to read the book and study for the midterm and final. He spends a lot of class time just talking about current technological events but I liked him, he's passionate about the subject.
This class seems to be easier than other professors. You actually do need to read the book. There is an online quiz for each chapter, with a very short time limit so know your stuff. one midterm and one final. a few easy homework assignments and three projects. projects don't start them late but easy points. tests are mostly quiz questions & vocab
Judge is a good teacher, MIS is just a boring and confusing subject. If you make an effort to go to most classes and go see him in his office hours ahead of time, he will help you a lot with any projects or questions. One midterm and final and a few homework and project points.
Great professor. Textbook is mandatory as the quizzes and exams are based off of them. Online quiz after each chapter. Know your stuff cause you only have a 10 min limit to take them. One Midterm and One final, not cumulative. A few HW assignments which are basically free point and 3 projects which require a little more time, but still easy.Take Him
READ READ READ because his lectures sucked! if you read and understand the material midterms are going to be just right Dont study from notes or pp just READ! theres no STUDYGUIDE :( he doesnt clear the material, but he is willing to help if you have a tech problem with you laptop... you dont really need to go to class JUST READ!
Attendance isn't mandatory. There are quizzes at the end of every chapter. One midterm and one final that is NOT cumulative and are based on the quiz questions. Beneficial to gather a study group and collect everyone's quiz questions to study. Lectures are boring. The other assignments are easy.
Judge is extremely smart. His lectures are dry and attendance is not mandatory but sometimes he actually talks about interesting topics. All of his assignments are very easy and if you go into his office during office hours he is extremely helpful and nice. Test can be tricky so make sure you read the book thoroughly!
Judge is extremely knowledgeable about what he teaches. His lectures are dry and attendance is not mandatory. I would suggest not going to class, but instead reading the chapters from the book prior to taking each weekly quiz. One midterm, one final. Non-comprehensive. Make flash cards, review quiz questions and use quizlet to study for tests.
I'm not the type to skip class, but it is absolutely useless to go because he reads the powerpoint and then posts it. There are projects that take a few hours each and a tough quiz for each chapter online. The book contains so many vocab words making the tests very hard, but definitely doable if you study a lot. He is a nice guy in office hours.
Not bad. If you simply do well on the projects (put in a fair amount of effort) and study the PPT slides for the tests you'll do fine. I only studied the slides. Be careful, the tests are on like 11 chapters, but if you just memorize what you think is important on the slides the tests aren't that awful. He knows you need this class to graduate.
No need to go to class, except for midterm and final. 10 timed quizzes, honestly all the answers are on quizlet if you're just looking to get by. The assignments are really easy if you take time to get them done, very tedious though. He doesn't grade them hard. The midterm and final are really hard, make sure to know the material extensively.
This is a class that you don't need to bother going to class, just read his powerpoint slides online and you'll be fine. I got a B and only ever went on syllabus day. He's actually pretty nice and helpful, but only if you ask for it. Lectures are a waste of time, he just rants about whats in the news. Tests are do-able if you study.
As a Business major, this is by far one of the most useful classes I have ever taken to date in my college career. He's a really cool and knowledgeable guy. I read each chapter 3 times and got A's on the quizzes and the exams. It's a lot of work, but it's all really useful stuff to know.
Professor Judge was very helpful all semester, going to class is optional, but on tests he asks questions about current events that were discussed in class, so it definitely helps to attend. He assigns a lot of projects to help your grade, you just have to follow directions well and pay attention to what you are doing. Overall, a great class.
Honestly, Judge is a hard teacher. But, he is there for you. His weekly quizzes are do-able if you read the chapters. The midterm & Final ARE TOUGH. Projects are simple but time-consuming. START THE PROJECTS EARLY!! . Simnet projects are easy! MAC users beware. use library comp lab for Excel, Access, & Simnet. Visio & Freemind you have to download.
I love Judgeyy!!! I low-key have a crush on him. He loves what he is teaching and that is what makes his lectures so good. No one ever really listens to him so i feel bad when he asks the class questions but all of his quizzes on quizzlets so you chillen. He's so sophisticated and thats just so sexy. Idk take this class, he's awesome
This class honestly isn't that bad. I don't understand what is going on in the class at all and I have a B. Lots of projects that can get your grade up. No one listens in class though and he's like anyone anyone when he asks a question about what he just taught and then he like don't make me feel bad and awww he is just so cute. Hard but I love him
Judge is a really good professor. He is super knowledgeable about the subject but his lectures are pretty long and boring because you can just study off of them on blackboard. Attendance is graded through course key so you should probably be there. Overall, he's great, you just have to genuinely study for tests.
Nice guy, expects a lot from students. Make sure to go to class- coursekey attendance points and sometimes poll questions for points. Final and midterm worth a TON of points so don't fail them. Do quizzes and projects and pass tests you should be fine.
I took the long lecture which I do not recommend. The material is very dry and hard to follow for such a long time and he isn't a very exciting lecturer. Make sure to take all of the online quizzes he will not remind you of them. Go to A plus review it is the only reason I passed this class.
The class is difficult. I took the long lecture and 2 hours and 40 mins of Judge was TOUGH! Don't get me wrong I love the guy, he's very sweet and you can tell he is VERY passionate about what he is teaching but the lectures are SO dry. Like half the class shows up to class and 75% of that half is on netflix, facebook, etc., I would take him again.
I did not like this professor. Kind of rude in my opinion, and makes you feel stupid when you ask questions.
Tests are hard, you have quizzes every week, online projects every week or every other week, final and midterm are HARD! You also have to go to class because he uses course key and you have to be in the classroom for it to work. He does in class questions as well. He is a better teacher than the other two though
I took his 1hr & 15 min class and couldn't help but want to fall asleep every time. His lectures are so dry and he spends at least the firs 30 min talking about things that aren't even what you're learning. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches, but everyone is literally on their phone, Netflix, or browsing the web.
Professor Judge is actually really passionate about the subject, but his class is really difficult. The tests are almost impossible and he really means it when he says study everything for them. His class had way too many points that you can easily lose and he uses CourseKey for attendance and random quizzes so go to class!
This class is hard. You really need to work for it and do well on the projects. In class, you need to show up to sign in and get the points. Also, PARTICIPATE! He loves it and it will get you on his good side. Know what's in the technological news and read the book before class. It will help you. A LOT! Also, the tests are hard. Usually D averages.
professor judge is hands down one of the best professors I have taken. He is very passionate about the subject and will do what he can to help. Class is doable if you actually stay on top of it and don't slack off. Study the quizzes, notes, and book for midterm and final.
Judge makes this class extremely difficult for no reason. The projects aren't terrible but are time consuming and he grades very hard (always go above and beyond his expectations). Midterm and Final is straight up vocabulary, I recommend just reading the book or looking up some quizlets. Recommend taking this class online - I've heard it's easier
The lectures were so dry and boring, I honestly felt bad for the professor. The course is supposed to be focused on beneficial things in Business like Excel/Accesses/etc., but it ended up just being us having to memorize USLESS information from the textbook. It's honestly not the professors fault, the school should make a change to the course.
Good understanding teacher. He's there to help and he likes class participation. He isn't too tough compared to other MIS teachers. I have him in MIS 305 and MIS 460. He's a genuine guy and you can tell he likes what he does.
Most assignments are simple enough, but the tests are extremely difficult. For both the midterm and final, the class average was below a C. It is a helpful class in terms of teaching you how to use excel, access, and visio, however it can be kinda boring. He loves class participation and discusses the news for the first 30 minutes of every class
Amazing Professor! Though his class was not easy, I learned a lot and I am truly glad that I took it. Judge is very knowledgeable and makes the class entertaining. I was in more than one of his classes and I feel like I'm coming out with valuable knowledge that I may some day apply in the workforce. Very chill professor, took us out to eat.
Judge's class was fairly simple but his tests were hard!!! They require WEEKS of studying so DON'T PROCRASTINATE! I honestly kind of regret not learning more of the material because I am just now realizing how valuable it is to know this stuff, it's just so dry. Oh, & he is pretty full of himself which makes students not like him or want to listen.
Notice how all the negative reviews come from his MIS180 courses, I think the further along you get into school you learn to appreciate the good professors as opposed to the "easy" ones.
Very full of himself. He constantly tries to push his political agenda on you. Very difficult, boring class.
Judge is okay at best. However, his lectures are pretty bad, he has changed some dates with no notification whatsoever, and he'll spend the first half of the class talking about how much he loves AI. If he asks for an assignment, do 2x whatever he asks for. His grading criteria provided is a B-. CourseKey is used for attendance and class quizzes.
Most boring prof I've ever had. Attendance is mandatory, and he gives pop quizzes on random days during class time. Only 2 exams, so they're both weighted pretty heavily. Have to go above and beyond on projects in order to get a good grade. He sucks at teaching, but is a nice dude. Often gives extensions on late quizzes and other things.
Robert makes everything harder than it should be. If you don't use Quizlet for quizzes you'll fail. There's a lot of work and random pop quizzes that are also hard. The averages on the midterm was a 68% I struggled through the whole class. He's also a boring lecturer. Don't take this class if you want an A or a secure B. There was a final curve.
Took Judge for MIS 180 as a freshman and MIS 305 as a senior. His 305 class is great since it involves a variety of projects and in-class simulation games. He gives clear grading criteria for all of the projects and really makes sure you understand the material by encouraging open discussions. I highly recommend this class for MIS majors.
Definitely more work than any other mis180 class, assignments on MULTIPLE programs and have to teach yourself most things. Only way to do well on midterm and final is go to a+ review, as his tests cover tons never discussed in class or stressed in the book. Connect helps with the material as well, but pop quizzes lowered most grades by 3-4%
Tends to go off on a tangent during lecture. Test and quizzes can be fairly difficult if you don't go over the reading material thoroughly but overall the class was alright.
He's a chill guy and is quick to respond to emails. his lectures are quite boring. Midterms are 75 questions, bunch of useless information on them. Definitely not an easy class.
Dr. Judge's a great guy. Treated the class to Eureka! Each class began with techie news and encouraged feedback. Lots of Projects which are awesome for some of us. Tableau and Knime deserved more time. Tests were more about quantity and questions could be misleading. This class would be magnificent if it was purely Project Based.
Boring lectures. A lot of detailed information you need to memorize.
Long and boring lectures that are completely irrelevant to the test. Learned more from simnet than anything he said. Covers news for the first hour of class and the rest is useless information that is not on the test. Test averages for my class was a D for every test. The second exam I scored a 68% and was above the class average. Difficult project
Best professor for MIS! There are projects and quizzes that help boost your grade and on midterm and a final. Other MIS classes are only based on tests, so this class is nice to have some cushion for your grade instead of only based off tests. He takes attendance every class and has pop quizzes often so you should show up. He is really nice!!
Boring lectures, but you have to show up because he has pop quizzes. More projects than most MIS professors. 1 Midterm and Final, which is do-able if you go through quizlet or A+.
Even though this was one of the worst/hardest classes I have ever taken, he actually cares about his students succeeding. He grades very hard and his examples of what to do are "b level work" so he expects perfection for an a. At the end of the semester he is kind if you have good attendance and scores. Go to a plus review and you'll pass the tests
2 Online midterms. 1 In-class final. Group assignments due once a week. About 2-3 individual assignments due. 1 Final presentation. Overall lectures are very long and take all class, but tests and assignments are doable. Choose a good group! The class heavily relies on group assignments. Online exams are easy. Final isn't so easy.
Judge is really cool. His class is not easy, just like all MIS180 classes. The good thing is that he breaks his course into 1 midterm and 1 final and many projects so even if you test grade is not the best you can still manage a B or something. In the end he also takes into account the effort you put to round your grade. Hes really nice professor!
Judge is a great professor. If you read the textbook, you are set for the midterm and final (non-cumulative). All other points are little projects that he shows you exactly how to in class and on Bb. He takes attendance. Mainly a memorization course. Good guy.
Judge doesn't doesn't lecture much. You have to do good amount of reading to prepare for midterm & final. Got to play with different software such as SAP & MS Visio, which is great! Judge is willing to help, but definitely doesn't hold your hand. Some of the assignments are vague, you have to Google and figure things out. No attendance.
Judge isnt too bad. You for sure have to study for the midterm/final. HIGHLY reccomend going to A+, average was a 62% for midterm and not many people went to A+ but I did and got a 85%. Not mandatory class, don't go cause he lectures on things not related to excel/access/etc. Lot of software to download, just go to him if you need help.
Judge may not be the best teacher to learn from but he is super caring and wants the best for his students. MIS 180 is hard regardless but if you put in the time and talk to Judge outside of class, an A or B is very doable.
I took MIS180 with Judge, which was one of the worst decisions of my life. He goes about twice as far as an introductory course should. In addition, he gives assignments based on material he has not taught yet.
Judge is not as bad as everyone says. MIS is naturally a hard subject and he tries his best to help his students. For all of the projects he posts step by step instructions and lets you copy it exactly which is a free 100%. The 2 tests are hard and require studying outside of the class, but there are a lot of free points that can boost your grade.
Judge is so passionate about this class. He gives lots of easy projects for points to balance out the tests and the whole class is curved. It can be confusing because he thinks we understand all this tech nerd stuff but we don't. Is very helpful in his office hours and will always give you a chance to fix a project or quiz if something went wrong.
MIS is a hard class, but I went to office hours for every single project and he helped walk me through it which was extremely helpful. His lectures are kinda boring and confusing so I went to A+ review for the 2 tests which I would definitely recommend doing. By no means was it easy to get an A- but if you put in the effort it is very possible.
He is smart, just shouldn't be a teacher. I never learned one thing from a lecture, read the book on your own. There are like 5 projects and he gives directions to get a C on them so you have to figure out on your own how to get an A. He is not passionate about teaching, he just knows he's smart and assumes people have worked at a company like him.
If you have any other options, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! As we are now stuck at home doing online learning, he did not make things easier on students when it came down to his expectations. Our online final was 50 questions for 35 minutes and there was no prep or study guide provided beforehand. He spends more time talking about tech news during lectures!
I dont usually do this but man this guy does not teach anything. he just talks about random crap like starbucks and does not tell us how to do projects and gets upset when we do too well on tests. i already suck at coding so this class is like pulling my teeth out since he doesnt teach jack
I don't think he's as bad as a lot of people on here say. He walks through the major projects step by step, making them pretty easy to pass. However, he does ramble about random tech news in his lectures, & they can get very boring. The quizzes & tests are tough because of time constraints. We had 35 minutes to answer 50 questions for the midterm.
attendance: N/A, all lectures slides are posted online textbook: no need, don't buy comments: worth the tuition
