He flies through things too quickly and always talks about how unhappy he is to be there. His tests are a little hard and even though ALL students do bad on his "lab" tests, he won't curve anything. Try to take an easier professor who isnt so

We had a class study group for his tests and we all seemed to do well. He really liked our class alot though and we could kid around with him quite often...however, this was a few years ago so I don't know what he's like now!!

Awesome professor! Dont bother spending &135 on the book, just take the notes and you'll do fine. bring a tape recorder on test review days and you will know exactly what is on the test. Some of the examples givenare actual questions on the test.

I passed with a B+ and I am an average student. He is worth taking. If I had to take another bio class I would look for him.

This prof. is one of the coolest science teachers I've ever taken. He actually teaches in a way you can really understand well. His tests are pretty damn easy also, but the lab tests are actually pretty hard. I would def. take him again and I RECOMMEND HIM !

Very good teacher. Very knowledgeable about his subject and has a sense of humour. I had him for microbiology and got an A. All his tests are from his notes. I don't know why some people compain about his lab tests, I did really well on them too. Just study his notes. If you study, you will do well.

Definitely take him because his class is very easy and is very passionate about micro. Dont buy the lab book because he doesnt use it but the textbook you can just photocopy if you want because it helps to read them with his notes. Would require some memorizing but as long as you study his notes you'll ace his class. You'll learn a lot.

I absolutely love Professor Kaltz! He knows everything about Microbiology and is not boring when he teaches. You take a lot of notes, and tests are all definitions. He never uses the book and in lab you are usually let out early. You'll have to study, but definitely worth having him as a professor.

I feel that the ratings here are misleading. The easiness level of this class is not a 5. You definitely have to put in MANY HOURS of studying in order to do good. The lecture exams were pretty difficult, and the lab exams were even worse.

His class is very easy we didnt use the lab book thou but you will learn a lot from him...he likes to write a lot in the board bec he says that it helps students to remember the lessons : he was right. he is very knowledgeable and very approachable take his class & you will not be sorry.

Best professor at BCC. He is down to earth and really connects with students. He even brought in candy for us on Halloween! He makes this topic interesting and fun. Questions for m/c tests come directly from board. Study those notes or you will have a tough time on the tests. No need to buy textbook or lab book since he gives handouts for both.

Lab is amazing that only a professor who has truly worked with microbes can explain, predict and teach certain lesson like he does. Just buy a lot of filler paper and get ready to write.

He's so good and hilarious! He makes this hard subject fun and understandable. His tests are tough but he goes over EVERYTHING that is going to be on each exam. It is a lot to study but an A is attainable. For lab, as soon as your done with your work then you can leave which is usually very early! Highly recommend!!

I took this course over the extended summer session. He is very funny in the corny dad-joke sort of way and is very enthusiastic about Micro. His tests are hard but he provides detailed notes and his reviews are very helpful. I also very much appreciated not having to buy the book, and getting out of lab early. He is great.

Micro is generally a difficult subject but Professor Kaltz tends to simplify the subject where it's easy to understand. He is also on of the few professor's that actually uses the blackboard while he lectures instead of reading off a power point. Attendance is not mandatory but you'll lose class time to understand the subject. High recommendation.

I was so scared to take Microbiology because everyone said it is so hard but his class was amazing. It was definitely not an easy subject but he really breaks down and his notes could be little out of order and stuff but if you study his notes and his study guide, you can 100% get an A.

Microbio? Take Kaltz. Grade is made up of 5 exams (3 lecture exams - 75% of total grade & 2 lab exams - 25% of total grade). There's also an unknown which is counted as extra 10 points to your lab grade. Prof provides you with his notes & gives out study guides which he goes over in class. You can record his reviews. Overall, easy A.

Funny & clearly loves micro. Subject is tough, but he provides in the info in a nice & organized manner, also explains it well to make it easy to understand. His tests aren't hard if you study. Tip: highlight the study guide during review, make a quizlet of those topics and study the hell out of it. It's really not hard if you stay organized.

Kaltz made learning science genuinely fun. I had a lot of absences due to COVID but I still got an A. He made topics that were pretty difficult really easy to grasp. No syllabus bc the grade is ENTIRELY based on your lab/lecture exams, which are multiple choice and long but he gives you everything you need to know so studying is necessary!

Very caring prof and always willing to help! However I must warn you DO NOT take this prof if you are lazy and not willing to learn every single thing inside and out that he talks about in lecture. You must put in a few study hours a day in order to pass this class with a decent grade. Test reviews honestly dont help.

Textbook & attendance not mandatory. Easiest class I've EVER taken. Very passionate about science & genuinely loves to teach! He could not make the topics more simple, there were 0 surprises on the exams. He's also generous with extra credit. Anyone who failed the course either didn't pay attention or is just not prepared for college-level courses.

I've never been too fond of Microbio but Prof. Kaltz teaches the subject in a way that helps you remember and understand. He is very old school, but he does email a lot of lecture notes and review. His tests are confusing if you don't study, but he does that purposefully so students understand the material at hand. 10/10 would recommend Prof. Kaltz
