he is a nice professor he helps the students when they need help...he makes you participate in class and he assigns readings...class assignments are easy...easy grade..overall he is ok

Words can't describe how much my writing has improved since I took this class. And it's been only 2 months! As a non-native speaker, English (especially writing) was just not my forte. He makes CLEAR what good writing is and what he wants in our essays, unlike some other English teachers whose grading criterion is vague.

He is very helpful and approachable. He makes things extremely clear and repeats them several times so you just can't NOT get what he is trying to say. He sure knows how to fix your writing and improve them. Although the class is boring because he keeps on repeating himself to make things clear, you have to pay attention because they're valuable.

He will give student A if this student work hard. if you can go to writing center to ask him help your essay, you will get extra point. for me, I got 2 C 1 B and 2 A, my final is A. so he is the best in english 1.

I am an international student who had problems writing clearly before taking his class. His class helped me correct my problems. My friends who had English 1 from other professors did not learn as much about grammatical structure and writing as I did. He teaches you to become a scholarly writer. He is also willing to help you to improve your grade.

Professor Karron is THE BEST professor ever. He is intelligent and helpful and he always goes out of his way to make sure his students understand and learn to be as passionate about literature as himself. Not only do I want to take him again, I wish he was my friend. TAKE HIM. You won't regret.

What I Love about Professor Karron: You will learn ALOT. You will definitely write better than you did before. He is VERY clear. He Emails back within an Hour. He is a fair grader. However, it is almost impossible to write a perfect paper. He is never satisfied with any of the students paper.

Robert is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I tell my friends stories about the off-color things he says because he's so hilarious. He's a fairly tough grader, but my last two papers were A+s (I am a writer though) so it's definitely possible.

Robert Karron is probably the only teacher who can act out the process of how to write a college essay. On top of that, he makes writing fun and easy. He is a genius and it would be a shame if you didnt take any of his classes.

Be prepared to do a lot of reading and writing. He's passionate about teaching and does his best to be engaging. However, he does choose some very dull and boring books over the course of the semester. Very approachable, so don't be afraid to ask for help. Definitely not an easy "A" though--tough grader.

Robert Karron was a great English 1 professor. He gives you a few topics to write essays about bu the makes sure that the topics are something interesting to write about. He anonymously looks at paragraphs you write in class on the board and you get input from the whole class. He made me a better writer! I would totally take him again!

Great professor. I took him for English 1 and 2 in my first semester. He reads the books he assigns for the first time with you. So the books are new to him too. Very easy class as long as you read and do the work.

One of the most compassionate and genuine professors on the SMC Campus. Students who did not do well were those who missed class (more than twice), didn't turn in assignments on the due dates, and did not use his feedback for improvement on later essays. His guidelines are very straightforward and he lets you rewrite a few of the essays.

HE IS SO GENUINE. He's the sweetest professor ever. He gives you the best feedbacks on your essays and honestly, you can gradually see how much you improve. He's always there for you and he understands how complicated our college life is. I would so take him again.

Professor Karron is a very nice teacher. He is willing to help out the students and is available outside class. He allows you to redo your essays if you are not satisfied with the grade you received. Takes in consideration that we are probably busy, so he lets you work on your essays in class. Doesn't enforce attendance but try not to be absent.

Robert is hands down the sweetest, funniest, caring professor. First of all, he does not expect so much from his students. He understands we all have other classes, so he allows time for reading, and if we need extra time for papers. He gives every student a chance, and gives awesome feed back. Karron came off more like a friend than a teacher. He's extremely caring and funny. He answers e-mails quickly and is super helpful.I absolutely love him. The books we read were kind of boring, but the discussions in class made the book way more interesting. He doesn't always have a plan for class, but he usually comes up with something as he goes.

So first off, the difficulty rating depends on your writing level. If you are good at writing, take him, he will definitely improve your writing level. NOW, if you are bad at writing, but you want to improve, he is your man. He is so caring and had an abundance of patience. Beware that he grades very hard but tells you exactly what you need for- A

Karron is such a sweetheart, even though his class was boring. He assigns four books to read with a 4-5 page paper (for scholars). He tries his best to help you to improve your writing. He has discussions about the books in class and brings art, poetry, videos, etc to make a connection. You will have to read 20 pages after each day.

His lectures are very casual, he likes to discuss and analyze the literature together. He values participation and input from students. He is a bit tough when grading the papers, but he gives great feedback and lets you rewrite them. Very nice and easy to talk to. I highly recommend him.

We read 3 books, a graphic novel, and a play. Wrote 3 essays, and the books we didn't write an essay on is on the mini-essay final. When it comes to writing the paper, Karron will guide us through step by step. Send your paragraph to him through email, and he will fix it for you. He lets you rewrite paper if you have a C or lower.

Professor Karron saved my life literally! He's been so understandable about my situation and regardless the fact I was absent too many times (dont do the same mistake, show up!) he boosted my grade because he knows how much I needed a good grade to be accepted at my university. Read about 3-4 novels and write a 3 page essay on each. He walks you through exactly how he wants the essays written. In class discussions, must show up. No reason to get anything less than a B. Lets you rewrite essay if you get less than a C, which you shouldn't unless you are trying to fail.

AMAZING PROF! I hate English but I love him. He makes English fun and I definitely feel like a better writer. The class consists of short homework every week, 4 papers, and one final. You will get an A if you put in some effort. He's very caring and lets you call him and text him whenever. You won't regret it.

BEST PROF AT SMC!! 3 papers (5 pages each), weekly hw is to summarize a podcast episode and a research paper. He really cares about his students, his flexible with due dates, let's you re-write papers for full credit, and teaches you how to write great papers step by step. You really have to try if you want to fail. Easy A. Plus, he is hilarious.

Literally amazing! He was really nice and lets you text/call him whenever (ofc in a timely/respectful manner). Be prepared to take his feedback critically; he is straight up with his comments. Let's you discuss his feedback if you struggle, and has a friendly attitude. He goes step by step with u personally on writing issues you might have.

I took Professor Karron last year in the fall and he was amazing! There were lots of papers to write but I can assure that he definitely made me a good writer. He might be pretty hard if you're not good at writing, and if you are he will for sure make you improve. ALWAYS listen to his feedback and you should be able to pass his class.

Professor Robert Karron is an AMAZING person overall not only in school but also outside of school. He is always there to support everyone with ANYTHING. I've taken his ENG 2 class at SMC and transferred to a 4-year University. He makes sure to prepare everyone for the real world or a 4-year University. He is the BEST professor I've ever had.

Professor Karron is a really good professor but he does assign a couple of papers. He is very caring and will answer your emails quick. He does talk a lot sometimes but overall is good. He gives you many examples and formats for your essays. He also hates canvas which is good for me because I don't like it very much.

This is a lower division English class and he sets his expectations accordingly. Overall he is a great teacher and I would take his class again!

Professor Karron is one of my favorite professors and my all-time favorite English professor as well! He's so kind, patient, funny, flexible, and very understanding. There are only two papers and one final which are very easy (Short answers, no multiple choice). He's truly an amazing person and it's truly an easy ENGL 2 class. PLEASE TAKE HIM!

He was very straightforward and kind, if you need help on anything he is always there for you. 3 papers in total. Sometimes it felt like going to class wasn't worth my time (I could be using the time to write one of his papers instead) but he was always pretty entertaining and funny. Would take his class again!

He is very eccentric very silly, very engaging. He is very understanding. He grades based on your skill, but he gives feedback on how to be better. You can contact him very easily outside of class time. For the textbook u read it outside of class and even then the free pdf is fine.

He is a gem! Unlike some of the ENG1 profs at SMC, he uses up-to-date materials, like opinion articles from NYT. The podcast and articles focus on current topics, such as access to education and college free speech, makes the class highly relatable. He cares about his students beyond academics, supporting their well-being and offering flexibility.

Professor Karron is one of my all time favorite teachers! He cares about his students, and makes sure they feel supported. He is patient and accommodating. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. DO NOT take his kindness for weakness, or as a reason to be a half ass student. It's rare to have such a trusting teacher so don't abuse that privilege.

He is a GREAT teacher, he doesn't make you feel dumb, dumb questions don't exist in his class. He has patience and is very understandable. Im 27 & throughout all my years of school, Prof. Karron is hands down the best teacher ive ever had. He genuinely cares about his students & is so kind.
