Robert Kellar makes this lab really interesting! Not only does he know his stuff, but he has a great sense of humor that he incorporates into the lecture so it's not so boring. He will meet with you if you need help with anything and is very easily approachable
Great teacher!! loved his lectures and he made them fun and interesting. the three hours always went by so fast in his class. get him if he is available for this class. he makes it very fun and enjoyable.
Great professor and incredibly helpful. It is very helpful if you print off the powerpoints before class. Attendance is not mandatory but you should go to class he gives helpful hints and occasionally extra credit. There are also homework assignments before each exam that can help boost your grade.
Dr. Kellar is entertaining and personable. However, challenging him on "tricky" questions was pointless and frustrating. Overall, tests and assignments were fair. Older additions of the textbook and lab book work just as well. And cost much less. Don't buy the $20 CD.
Dr. Kellar is AMAZING. I want to be a Doctor, and he made me even more interested in the body! He is extremely nice and enjoyable to listen to! I would go to every lecture possible because you learn something interesting every day!
Awesome teacher! And a brilliant researcher! Can't say enough good things about this guy! Take his class, you will learn so much!
Great teacher! Super friendly!
Hard material to understand, but he does his best. Tests are tricky make sure you read all the choices. Try to get tests from previous year it will help you alot!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Kellar! He's really passionate about the subject and I enjoy going to his class. Definitely knows his stuff. It's a hard subject, but he does his best to explain everything so it is easy to understand. He is a super nice guy and makes class enjoyable. Definitely made me more passionate about the subject.
Good teacher. Exam answers are not obvious and straight off of the slides. They can be tricky
Amazing teacher. He is very knowledgeable and excited about what he teaches. The class itself is a little difficult and will require you to do a lot of studying and prep for the tests but the classes are super useful in preparing you to atleast get a C. Highly recommend but do not miss class, you will fall behind fast
Dr. Kellar is an engaging, intgelligent, thoughtful lecturer. If I could, I'd take full-semester classes, taught by him, based on each of the fifteen or so lectures given in this course. Given the opportunity I'd take pretty much any course Dr. Kellar taught.
Dr. Kellar is great! He is interesting, funny, has great command of the subject and is easy to get help from. He does not require attendance which is nice. His tests are tricky. If you do the study guide however you will have no problem acing them.
He is amazing! So helpful and so engaging! Very interested in the material, and also really funny. Plus he's pretty good looking, so paying attention isn't hard...
Obssessed! Fantastic professor on every level. So engaging to listen to, so personable and so involved in ensuring his students understand the material. But good professor doesn't mean easy class. Study up!
LOVED THIS PROF! He is amazing at what he does. His class was engaging and fun. His exams are pretty easy, the answers are in his lecture so just show up and take notes and an A is simple. He was definitely my favorite prof of the semester.
Great teacher! His class is very well organized and he makes everything clear. Tests are fair, I got As and Bs on them and I just studied the lecture notes from class. If you show up and do your work, you can easily get an A or B. Strongly recommend!
Beautiful to look at every day! Best tailored pants, if you know what I mean. Oh, and the class was pretty interesting if you are willing to put in the work.
Kellar is so witty and knowledgeable. He is confident and friendly, and will answer any question you have. He sincerely cares about his students and treats you as respectfully as a professor can. I would recommend Bio201 with Kellar to anyone who needs the class.
Dr. Kellar is very engaging and intelligent! I would recommend any class taught by him. The quizzes are harder than exams, and the exams aren't too bad as long as you study and know your stuff! One of my favorite Biology classes so far!
Even though attendance is not mandatory, it is important to go to class and it is always a good experience. It is best to print out the lecture notes and bring them to class and then take notes on what he says. He records his lectures so that he can use his words on tests.
This class contained challenging material but Dr. Kellar explains everything very well. You have to study a lot but it is worth it. I recommend Kellar for any course.
Dr. Kellar is the best Bio professor I have ever had. His class is not easy but it really sets you up and prepares you for all of your upper level classes. You have to put in effort and you have to show up for class (4 times during the semester he does random extra credit for showing up). Very willing to help in office hours.
I loved Dr. Kellar. He explains everything in a way that all levels can understand, although you do need to put in a lot of time outside of class, but that is to be expected.
Kellar is an amazing professor. He is very clear in what he wants, is hilarious, gives great feed back and is the most inspirational professor I have had at NAU. Anatomy is a medially difficult subject, but Kellar makes it fun, engaging, and easy to learn. Also, I have the biggest man crush on him ever, so there's that.
Very good teacher. Keeps class interesting by making jokes. Majority of the grade is based on tests, so if you study you'll be alright. He also posts videos of every lecture online, which is helpful with study.
Kellar gives out hard tests and doesn't allow you to drop any of them. You have to attend class AND go to the SI's to understand the material
Lectures can be fun sometimes, the material is tough, but if you pay close attention to his class and attend to SI you are good!
Dr. Kellar is an amazing professor - you can tell he is super knowledgeable about this subject & loves teaching it. The lectures are interesting & not overly packed with info. The test are tough and there is a lot of "b and c" "all of the above" "a and d" questions which make it difficult. You really have to know the information to do well.
Amazing professor, tests are difficult but if you attend class and study you should do fine. Also not bad to look at, which gives an extra reason to go to class
Kellar is hilarious and makes the lectures entertaining, but you won't pass if you skip them. I highly recommend taking the practice tests and printing out the powerpoint notes and adding your own notes in. I studied decently and had an A after midterms, but ended with a B. You can't drop a test, and the extra credit isn't much but it does help.
Kellar was a fine teacher, I think it's just hard material, because sometimes things weren't very clear. The tests are hard if you don't study a lot, but they are passable. I would say get with a big study group, makes the material way easier. And do the online homework assignments for easy points
The material is tough, there is no way around that but Kellar does a great job teaching it. He takes his time to answer student questions, and explains everything very thoroughly. His passion and knowledge are very obvious, and he does a great job of making somewhat dry material interesting. All tests based on lectures. He is also hilarious.
Tough class. Overly long lectures, and sort of cheerfully condescending when asked questions. Not my best experience.
I think that Dr. Kellar gives great lectures but the class is hard because the material is tough and there is a lot of it. He doesn't give a lot of homework, but you have really have to study to do well on the tests. He's super knowledgeable and makes the lectures interesting but I'd recommend going to the SI's too if you want to do well.
Dr. Kellar is a great help to any student willing to approach him, his humorous attitude and great jokes are something not to miss out on! Easily one of my most favorite professors I've had. His material can be tough but because he records his lectures it allows one to look back on the lecture if something seems unclear. In office hours he is great
Dr. Kellar is a great professor. His class is pretty difficult and the tests are pretty challenging as well, but he tries to make the class as much fun as it can be. He tries to be clear in his lectures and explains what is required for assignments. I love his jokes before class everyday! Great professor overall.
Kellar's lecture style is superb. He's super clear, makes things relevant, and only tests on lecture material. He records lectures. So glad I was able to take 201 with him, wish he taught 202, and am hoping to be able to take Path with him. He's also super helpful in office hours. Basically an ideal professor for tough material. Highly recommend!
He's a great professor and very helpful. It's a tough class with a lot of material. Wish there were more assignments to help enforce concepts
Amazing professor, absolutely loved the class.
Online quizzes are worth a lot more than you think and add up at the end of the semester. If you put in the time and find a good way to study you'll be just fine.
Very interesting, his presentations in class are amazing. He really does teach a topic he is passionate about. The only down fall is there is no bumper grade homeworks. Tests and Exams only! So do not even think of missing a quiz or exam, it will very hard to climb back up. HE RECORDS EVERY LECTURE AND ITS AMAZING. Re watch video lecture for test.
Dr. kellar is a great lecturer and really cares about student success. The test are the only grade that matters so you have to study, but he posts all his lecture recordings online so attending class isn't entirely necessary. Just study for the tests and you will do well. The only reason I got a B was cause I slacked for the first one.
His lectures are kind of disorganized and don't really flow together. He jumps from one topic to another super quickly and eother gives too much detail or too littlw detail. He comes off as very self-centered as he only shares HIS research and he constantly finds ways to brag about his accomplishments. I won't be taking a class with him again.
Meh. Kellar is not the best teacher. Most things things weren't very clear. The tests are hard if you don't study a lot, but in fairness, they are passable. He spends a decent amount of time letting everyone know how great he is, which gets old after a while. YMMV, but he was not my cup of tea.
This is Pathology so expect graphic pictures. They are awesome. The Teacher wants everyone to do well and brings in research to keep the class up to date on current topics. You will need to work for the grade but if you are taking the class it is already something that interests you so probably an easier A or B than a less interesting class.
Grades based on pre/post-quizzes and 3 exams. The topics are interesting enough that you won't struggle. He posts his lectures online, so class isn't mandatory. He talks about his research which works great with the class material. I found the textbook online for free, which saves you $$. He also talks about recent medical events is you mention it.
He is AMAZING. The class is very interesting and he incorrperates his own research into the course to keep it up to date. The tests are difficult and you have to study hard for them but the content is well organized and cool to learn about. He's a really nice guy and if you have any questions he is more than willing to help. Overall a great course
Dr. Kellar is by far the best biology professor I've had at NAU. Exams are entirely lecture based so I would go to class! Lectures are interesting, he's passionate about his students' success, and he's a funny guy. Would definitely take another class with him. Textbook is required for pre/post quizzes and readings.
If you have the chance to take this class with Dr. Kellar do not hesitate to take it. Dr. Kellar is a great professor. The lectures convey the information in a way that helps with class materials (quizzes, exams) but also presents the information so that it can be used outside the classroom. Class is always a pleasure to attend.
Really nice guy with an interesting field of experience to back his pathology knowledge.
BIO 320 with Dr. Kellar is a great overview of the highlights of pathology. Long readings, but worth it for the experience with a tough med-school tier textbook. He's not trying to trip you up on the tests-- take notes, ask questions, and you'll get an A. Personally, Dr. K is awesome, easy to talk to and helpful.
Dr. Kellar does an excellent job at teaching this class! If you take it online, you basically do the weekly textbook reading, watch his pre-recorded lectures, then take a pre and post quiz each week (he will drop the lowest ones at the end). There are 3 exams. The content is interesting and the professor is very approachable at office hours.
Dr. Kellar is truly an angel. His online class is composed of 5 question pre and post lecture quizzes that are completed each week and three exams total. The lectures are posted on youtube and they are very interesting. As long as you watch the lectures and take good notes, the exams are easy! I highly recommend taking this course.
I really liked Dr. Kellar. I've heard his exams could be a little difficult, but I did well on each of them. You need to watch the lectures and take detailed notes, but overall this online course was very easy and went along with a lot of the classes I am in/have taken previously. The lecture videos on youtube are a bit long, but normally engaging!
This course was run entirely online, so all lectures were recorded. It was easy to fit this class into any schedule. Grades are based only on quizzes and tests, but the material is very approachable and he does a great job being available to sort out any questions that his students have. Great class if you have room in your schedule!
Dr. Kellar is ok at best. He is hesitant to meet outside of office hours. Doesn’t offer extra credit. Material years old that doesn’t suit an online setting. Exams (60% of LG- all cumulative) are difficult cherry picked specific info. He’s fairly approachable. He is more of a grant writer and researcher than a prof. need help? take diff prof.
Dr. Kellar makes this class flexible for your schedule and gives you all the tools for success. Although it is an online class, I have taken away so much new knowledge. Office hours are weekly and a great resource. You can tell Dr. Kellar has been teaching for a while because his class structure is extremely refined. I highly recommend him.
Great professor! I loved the class and material, it was great! I loved the material and his lectures. I would take a class with him again! The material was challenging, but fair.
320 covers hard material but its super interesting especially if you are passionate about medicine. Your grade is based off 10 pre and post lectures and 3 exams. You watch 2.5 hours of lecture videos a week. He has office hours weekly and is always happy to answer students' questions. Super funny prof, sometimes talks fast but you can rewind vid :)
Dr. Kellar is great! His class is fully online, and you watch his lectures on your own time. He has an engaging teaching style and makes the difficult material easy to understand. If you have the chance to take his class, do it!
If you put forth the effort Professor Keller will meet you there and help you accomplish your goals within his class! He was committed the entire semester in helping me understand concepts I struggled with, and he was patient and kind in all our zoom meetings to understand those concepts!
Very Knowledgeable! His lectures were heavy but, he also made the lecture interesting and makes real life connections. Offered extra credit nearly before every test. Make sure to study and attend lecture, but he also records every lecture. It was the best studying tool for me!
Such a funny and sweet person. I'm not a huge fan of labs but he was a great TA. Responds to emails quick and is always willing to help. Allowed us to zoom into labs which was great. For a mandatory lab, he's a great choice!
Kellar wants his students to succeed. There was reading for homework along with an online quiz but he does not correlate his exams to the textbook. Your grade is solely based on your exams as the quizzes are a low percentage of your grade. His lectures are fast paced and you may need to watch them online to obtain all of the material for exams.
He was a nice person, but not a great professor. I would try to set up one on ones with him during his office hours he had to bring students in groups for how many students were not doing well in his class. He was not the professor for me, he didn't give very much study material, just read slides, and could have incorporated students more in class.
Dr. Kellar is a phenomenal professor. He really cares about his students even though I took him online. The class is very cohesive and has a nice flow. None of the content was extremely difficult, however, I recommend reading the textbook for this class before watching the lectures.
Kellar is a great professor but can seem intimidating - the class can be challenging but he only tests based off his lectures (and he records every lecture). Put in the work and it's not bad
He is nice. But his exams dont make sense no matter how hard you study. If you can get a different teacher.
The class can be very overwhelming a lot of the time. He uses power points with little information on them during lecture time, and goes very fast paced. There is no homework in the class, so exams are most of the grade. It is very hard to come back from one bad test grade. He gives extra credit, but not enough to help a grade increase.
He was really fun in lectures and one on one offered a lot of help if you just talk to him. His exams were HARD but if you study they're not too bad, plus he offers a bunch of extra credit for them and one is dropped. Def recommend, anyone who doesn't either didn't study or ask him for help.
Dr. Kellar is an amazing professor. Even though the class was online, his videos made it feel like I was attending an in-person lecture because they were engaging and he explained concepts with great detail. His availability to help students through weekly office hours made me feel supported throughout the semester. And he tells jokes!
Dr. Kellar is an absolute joy. He opened up every day of my BIO 201 class with jokes and always tried to make his students laugh. He's self-aware of how challenging his tests can be, so he provides a hearty amount of extra credit! His exams are lecture-based, but he uploads his lectures to YouTube so reviewing them is easy! 10/10 I adore him.
I had a great time taking Dr. Kellar's BIO320 course. The course is online, however the lectures are structured in a way that makes you feel as if you are taking the class in-person. Dr. Kellar is also readily available to answer questions and provide guidance. Overall, this class is very engaging and interesting. I highly recommend taking it!
Very helpful and informative professor. The content is difficult and needs a lot of work/practice on the student's side but Dr. Kellar teaches the subject in a way that was easy to understand. Tests are not too bad if you study. Show up to class for extra credit opportunities.
He offers extra credit before every exam in class (exams worth most your grade). He even lets you ask clarifying questions during exams. The textbook can help you reinforce ideas taught in class. You can tell Dr. Kellar is very passionate about what he teaches and also the lab he runs on campus. I would definitely recommend this class.
i enjoyed taking his class but you got to pay attention to the lectures and be engaged. if you get distracted, it's pretty easy to fall behind but super awesome and tells jokes throughout lecture
Kellar was a great lecturer. All of his exams were only on material discussed in lectures and he gave many opportunities for bonus credit on exams, take advantage of these! He explained material very efficiently.
Overall, he is a great professor and a wonderful person. Although attendance wasn't technically necessary, he provided extra credit opportunities for showing up. If you are deciding between professors, choose him; he is also a very fair grader.
Dr. Kellar was a great professor who would keep his class lively. He provided lots of opportunity to do well in his class despite the tough material. If you are between anatomy professors (not many great options), Kellar is awesome.
Dr. Kellar is an amazing professor. He makes lectures fun and interesting and not boring. I was pretty nervous going into this class but he made the learning experience so much easier and it ended up being one of my favorite classes. Watch his lecture videos over and over before exams and pay attention in class and you will be fine.
Professor doesn't have test based on material taught. By far one of the most difficult professor
Dr. Kellar's lectures are clear and prepare you very well to apply the material in future biomedical, A&P, and pathology-related coursework. His lectures are also posted online, so the content is incredibly accessible. He's truly one of the best professors I've had, and he really cares about his students succeeding! (Be prepared for dad jokes)
Dr. Kellar is a fantastic and unique professor. He teaches anatomy in a way that makes complex material easy to understand and genuinely interesting. His lectures are well-organized and often include clinical insights that help connect what you're learning to real-life applications. His appreciation for anatomical architecture is contagious.
Dr. Kellar's lectures are super beneficial if you are willing to listen! He's available outside of class hours and will work with you when you ask for help. Grading for the course is fair, extra credit is offered for exams, attendance is taken around exam times, class time is completely dedicated to lectures, and lectures are recorded!
Dr. Kellar is an exceptional professor in many ways. The only thing I would change would be that I could take the class in person, rather than online. The material is straightforward and relevant. I highly recommend taking his course if you are interested in learning and succeeding. Dr. Kellar is determined in his pedagogical abilities and it shows
Dr. Kellar is a great professor that makes a hard class as fun as possible by sprinkling humor into his in class lectures. The class is graded solely off of quizzes, tests, and attendance points, which makes it hard to raise your grade. However, he offers plenty of extra credit and does what he can to help you succeed.
Dr. K is the goat of bio teachers. I took him for anatomy and was able to take him again for 320. His passion is contagious and make the class very interesting and engaging. This is a great course for anyone interested in medical fields. If you put in effort and study you will do just fine.
Dr. Kellar is very knowledgeable. His class can be difficult, but he truly tries to provide students with as many resources to help you study. He's also very enthusiastic about answering any questions you may have. The class is very exam heavy, though one of them is dropped. They also tend to cover a lot of content.
Professor Kellar has a great teaching style and made the class interesting. I took his course online and was still able to learn and retain information. However, he is a slow lecturer and being able to speed up the lecture videos helped tremendously!
