Mr. Kennedy pretty much hard as nails. Class session are one long bore if you ask me. Some teachers make you more interested in the subject they teach. So that tells you about his teaching style. And test, don't even get me started on those. His reviews for the test is really vague. So there it is.
He teaches with such a passion, and deep understanding of the materials, that you can not help but become engaged in the discussion. His innate ability to reach out to students and draw them in is something that can not be taught. He is intelligent, well informed, quite humorous and just a really nice professor and guy.
Great professor. Yes you have to read but it is not boring and lectures make you think hard.
Everyone said he was going to be hard. He wasnt, just read, show up, do your work, and you will get an A
AWESOME
A hefty amount of reading is required, and so is attending class. Deadlines must be met, easy for me- but it's probably considered a rigorous course for most. I aced it, maybe you can too(:
Initially he is controlling, bossy, treats students like second graders. I personally had a bad experience with him. I don't like to be treated like I am in the military, I resent that. Has no respect for students opinion. I am an adult not a child.
Best teacher ever especially if you take his class on Fridays. He has such a passion for the subject i really learned a lot especially doing yoga before taking a test.
Mr. Kennedy is by far the best professor in stc he really knows his material and i couldnt ask for a better professor he's a fantastic professor A for sure if you do ur work.
amazing teacher really knowledgable in what he's teaching you wont regret this teacher :)))
Great teacher! Very helpful, and gives plenty study guides that help with the reading. I like how he always says my goal is to make sure you succeed, dont get in the way of my goal! If you want a teacher that will help you when you need it this is the teacher.
His online class is a lot of work. Although he is very helpful and answers all of your e-mails, the assignments and tests are a little overwhelming. He gives you extra credit if you do the quizes but be prepared to STUDY.
He is tough!! His tests are essay form/ descriptive. Their is a lot of reading and pop quizzes all the time!. His class is over wellming and I dont recommend you take this class with him.
The semester is about over and so far so good He is challenging, but pretty clear about what he wants. As long as you keep up on the reading and take notes in class the class is pretty easy. He is a nice guy. He says there is a secret to success in his class...to LOVE HISTORY! :) He even taught us how to meditate! It really helps with studying
His Hybrid class was a bit challenging but if you study and READ you will succeed. He knows what he is talking about. Would recommend.
very intense the first week of summer II, then kinda kicked back. lots of reading, lots of in class notes, lots of Q&A sessions, lots of cool movies and videos. very interesting, but you need to commit to reading, taking lots of notes, and BEING ON TIME and staying for the whole class. tests very easy if you read.
Fun, fun, fun in learining. he gets into the subject and brings it to life. extra credit is available and helps. Tests are easy as long as you study.
TAKE HIS CLASS!No Pressure Awesome prof.HELPFULL, aware U might be taking other classes.Class consists of HBO videos.Explains prior to it & after W/ class discussions or ?'s U might hav, which HELPS YOU link Everything to articles even provides video narrative on ARTICLE. Quizzes on Blkbd W/Notes Encourages take QUIZZES AS A group! No Stress Class
If you're looking for an online history class, I highly recommend you stay away from this professor. He requires way too much work from you and it defeats the entire purpose of the learning experience. I felt my attention was geared more towards getting the portfolio out of the way instead of actually comprehending the material.
I had him for an online class. He is very good at returning emails and stays in touch with the class. As long as you keep up with the reading and his lecture the class is simple!
DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ONLINE CLASS. the portfolio he makes you keep is like impossible. you have to keep notes, and write article response in here, and it takes up all the time. i have not learned ANYTHING from this class.i literally lost all passion from this class. :( also he is like to strict for learning extra credit.
Anyone who thinks this teacher is hard is straight up lazy. Keep up with reading, take notes, and view his lecture and you will get an A. Best of all, no book is required! He is good at getting back to you. If you are lazy, then don't go to college and live off the government some more.
This class was not difficult at all. However, a major setback that I found was that he required too much work. And a lot of the work was unnecessary such as the articles and portfolio. I would have preferred the book by the way, instead of an online textbook. Overall, the online class wasn't as convenient as it should have been.
took him part IandII, lots of reading, lots of notes, but if you do it, it's IMPOSSIBLE to get anything besides an A. very strict, kind of wishywashy when it comes to his grading. changes syllabis alot. but really passionate, and helpful if you follow his esay common sense rules. highly recommend if you really want to learn
GOT EASY=A in Hist I & II. Read Article, listn to video & note date, person & events. He is HELPFUL, Answrs email ASAP,Quirky, makes U Laugh. Encourages take QUIZ as GROUPS/Blkbd. No Book, Clearly lists what U need to Know. Quizzes upto 5 attempts. X-CREDIT=Go Library Presentions do 3-5min uTube Vid OR 1-2pg Esay. 1st time= College & HS dropout Got=A
Great online course! Plenty of options, expectations are clearly stated. Mr. Kennedy is VERY good about getting back to you through email. Easy A if you just do the work.
Great teacher. It was easy to know how to earn an A. Mr. Kennedy is very good at getting back to you too! Can't wait to take US HIST II with him!!!
SUPER KEWL GUY. IT WAS A SUMMER COURSE SO IT WAS A BIT INTENSE BUT HE EMAILED ME ON HIS OWN TO ENCOURAGE ME TO SUCCEED. I WANTED TO GIVE UP, BUT HE TOLD ME IF I BELIEVED IN MY SUCCESS I COULD NOT FAIL!!! I AM GOING TO USE HIS WORDS TO GET ME THROUGH OF ALL COLLEGE.
AWESOME!!!!
This is NOT a hard class BUT this professor does require LOTS of work. If you want a good grade you have to work outside of class as well, for example take essay tests at the CLE once a week. But if you take notes in class and watch his power points you should be good. He is very good with replying back to emails. this class requires a lot of time.
Awesome teacher. Go over videos take notes then prepare for essay questions off of the videos . he loves history made me like it im personally kinda all over the place and unorganized but i love history as well great proff
great class! Super helpful, answered my emails within a couple of minutes.
It is hard to understand his lectures he can't speak well and he believes he is an english teacher. No homework. He does give a lot of extra credit. There was just a few test and essays 5 of each but he does give a lot of time to do it. I will take his course again.
Gives extra credit, yet his class is very time consuming. Class is for discussion and not lecturing, he expects for students to cover the material on their own, online. He often uses too much unnecessary foul language in the few lectures he gives and starts hitting tables and chairs aggressively if someone attempts to leave early or falls asleep.
Great teacher. You can tell he cares a lot about his students. He took the time to help me a lot on google hangouts. and I was able to get an A in his class. very good about getting back to you in emails If you stick with the schedule and use his study guides you will pass the class for sure .
The professor posts his own online textbook, which I think he created, and therefore stuff is all over the place. ALL assignments must be completed with material ONLY from his textbook which makes the course complicated. He gives lots of extra credit and always gives you an opportunity to get better grades on past assignments. Honestly he's great!
this class requires a lot of time ..... the essays are sooooooo long, he gives more essays than an english class. i strongly disagree with the other comments. i wouldn't recommend this class for anyone. and regret every second of the course since i started, save yourself the stress and trouble and sign up with someone else. you were warned.
THE BEST TEACHER AT SOUTH TEXAS COLLEGE. Hands down! I am not a big fan of school , but this guy helped me get interested in history. Yes, we do write a couple papers and do some readings. But, this teacher is Amazing. Respond super fast to emails. His youtube videos our funny too!
Mr. Kennedy is an awesome teacher. I am in fact taking him online for a mini-mester and it does consist of A LOT of homework, but ONLY because it was a month long. I recommend you take him as a full semester and you should do GREAT in his class if you just follow the assignments. 2 Essays (Midterm & Final) SUPER EASY! I got an A in his class.
It takes ALOT of time Had one assignments every single day. would rest two days and then again. Sometimes had two assignments due per day Had to read alot in order to answer assignment four essays one discussion each week fifteen total. Quiz every week fifteen quizzes total. four unit quizzes and Final Quiz. Stressful.
Very interesting class. Easy if you keep up with the schedule. Gets back to you FAST if you have a question!!!!
He's a good professor and all but he expects a lot of work from you just watch his Youtube Channel or Email Him if You Have Questions
The worst class I ever chose to take online!!! Useless and it's completely difficult to pass even when you have him in person his videos are helpful though but don't make any sense I wouldn't recommend this instructor to anyone!!! Do not take!!
Great teacher, it was very clear what to study for and he gave great advice on how to study
The work isn't necessarily hard, but oh my gosh is it tedious. There's A LOT to cover in a very short amount of time. (Minimester) Every single day for weeks I would sit on the computer to do his work anywhere from 2-6 hours at a time. He isn't too harsh on grading, it's just that there's so much material and you have to keep up with deadlines.
Great online teacher. Made things very interesting!!!!
This class was one of the most interesting and beneficial classes I have ever taken.. not just for school.. but for life.. every American needs to inform themselves of what it means to be an American!!! Great work.
I took him for a summer course and it was a lot of work. His class is fairly easy, it's just a lot of material to cover.
Everything is basically online. The lectures drag too much to be honest. It's not really hard, but it is a lot of work.
Great Instructor! I learned a lot. Very easy if you show up and stick with the schedule!
Great teacher, quizzes at the beginning of every class, lectures right from the readings, so I was easy to follow along.
This was the best online class I have ever taken !!!!
Lots of material to cover and to write about. The Unit Essay 3 had a minimum of 5 pages and no double space. Do not take him if you are working or want to enroll in more than 6 credits. Good luck !
Easy class with clear expectations. Blackboard page was cool!!! He is totally fast at responding back to your messages.
Hard class online would NOT recommend. Too much writing! No book needed but a lot of reading material so get ready to read. His quizzes are hard and you have to write paragraphs as answers in little time. I barely passed it's too much time consuming and I had other classes to focus on as well. You need to do your quizzes on this lockdown software.
He always responds your concerns really fast and provides a lot of extra useful information. Simple assignments but you have to read and write a lot. Exams are essays no double space and quizzes are not multiple choice. Take this class only if you are taking no more than 3 classes. It's very time consuming!
He requires a lot of reading and writing, all quizzes are essay questions anywhere from 7-15 questions per quiz and they're timed, exams are papers 7-10 pages required, lots of info to read not enough time, maybe good for someone single, no kids, no job, and no life
avoid this professor if possible. His online class is a nightmare, he teaches with lame videos and brief summaries and wants you to write three paragraphs for Learning objectives in each chapter we are learning sometimes there are up to 7 learning objectives in 1 chapter! none of the quizzes are multiple choice either! Dont expect to have free time
Great teacher, easy to follow. Very well organized. He is very good at responded to questions and meeting with you when needed.
Easy instructor, nice guy. Easy to get a hold of.
Very excellent teacher, substance is great. You can tell he is a lefty, but he doesn't insert that into his teaching. His material is good and enjoys class discussions and debates amongst students. I reccomend this teacher for anyone interested in taking history. Tends to stray out of the timeline (Prior to 1877) but that is the only complaint.
Good stuff, easy B, easy to get a hold of .
I learneds alot about history. Workload was not too bad. He is very nice man.
well organized. easy to get a hold of.
DO NOT take this course as a mini-mester online. You will not have ANY free time, worse mistake I've made.
Easy A, very easy to get a hold of. course was organized.
Learned a lot about how the Civil War happened in this class. Mr. Kennedy is a cool guy. Easy class overall.
Good teacher, won't let you quit his class. Not too hard.
Great class, had to do some reading, but overall, easy A.
Mr. Kennedy was great! He changed up learning media and types of assignments enough that it wasn't burdensome. His interest in the subject and encouragment of in-class debate/discussion was truly inspiring!
I took Mr. Kennedy online for Hist 1301 in the summer as a minimester. It was hard, there was so much to read, &study in such a short amount of time, but it paid off. I am proud of my A! He had us subscribed to an app called celly which made a day&night diff. &made us feel comfort in asking questions &helping each other out! I really recommend him
Easy professor and I was able to get a hold of him very well. Nice guy!
I took him for a mini master and didn't realize it therefore it was an overwhelming process. However I would retake this professor because despite having so much to read he was fair. He supplies all reading material so no textbook was required but there was a lot of reading. His exams consist of essays of what you read for the quizzes. Examsrtimed
Seems hard, but actully pretty ezy. Liked how he had weekly video chats,
Good stuff!
Took as an online minimester at STC& I was always SO stressed. This prof is insane, makes u write 3-4 essays per exam (you have 4 exams in total)&the essays have to be 5-8 full paragraphs (that's 2-3 pgs, single space). I love history, writing,&reading, but this class was SO overwhelming. Learned alot, got an A, but very difficult. Not an easy A.
This professor doesn't understand that the Competency based class is for people who can't take a regular class. There is a pre-test and a post-test that you should take at your own pace within 7 weeks but he wants to run it as a full semester class. Avoid if possible.
DO NOT take this professor! I took him as an online class and worse mistake I ever made! He expects way too much for being a basic and its STC! His class felt like university level. Also requires a webcam when taking exams. I repeat DO NOT sign up for his class unless youre willing to read a lot and are up for a challenge.
Excellent teacher. He made himself available at every turn for me. I learned alot from him.
He seems committed to seeing his students succeed and gives them second chances on many assignments. His expectations are very thorough and clear and as long as we follow directions, an A is very attainable.
This guy knows how to teach an online class. Wish I took him before I failed my first class. He answers all his emails and meets with you online to help you with the work.
Good teacher. Was able to go to his office to learn more. At first I was not sure if I was going to pass, but go easier once I knew what he wanted.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! To clarify, this is not the hardest thing I've ever done (best option) but close to it. His exams are ridiculous! Multiple choice, 5+ short answer questions and 2, 8-10 paragraph essays on exam. Exams are under respondus lock down. You can use notes but essay part is what gets you. Time limit is 3-4hrs
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ! He makes you write a 2-3 page essay for tests that you have EVERY WEEKS new chapter. His test are thru a webpage lock down so if you think you can cheat and not do the work you are WRONG. You will fail easily if you dont study . You have to read from tophat and write what you think will be on the tests. JUST DONT TAKE HIM
Great prof! Course is pretty well organized and he gets back to you very quickly if you have any questions.
Mr. Kennedy was a fun professor. He's very caring and is always willing to work with you as long as you make it a point to let him know your situations. Very easy to get ahold of outside of class. He is very positive and uplifting. I highly recommend his class!
Awesome teacher. Hated history until I took his class. Whole new experience and ways to understand history. One of the best teacher I've had at STC. I wish he taught government classes. Those are too hard!!!
good instructor, a bit heavy on writing, but not a hard grader... he uses the remind app so it is pretty easy to get a hold of him
He makes history fun, Knows his fact and brings the past into life . only hard if u dont do the work.
Easy A
If you have questions be sure to ask, he is extremely responsive. I took this class online. Be prepared to write every essay BEFORE THE EXAM!!! I cannot stress it enough, BE PREPARED! Do not procrastinate!
Save yourself honestly. If you hate writing, don't take. If you hate reading, don't take. If you get annoyed easily, don't take. If you hate life, don't take cause you will hate life more. If you have questions, be prepared for him to answer around your question or basically not answer it at all. Wouldn't take his class again. Terrible.
Not too bad. have to read, but if i followed the study guides, his exams were easy As.
Great instructor. Uses many different kinds of media to make the class fun and interesting. Loved the reading material. Definitely liberal, but that will not effect your grade. He tries to stimulate discussion and keep things lively. Highly recommend this teacher.
this guy does not ignore students like other teachers. Anytime I needed a question asked, he helped me out. Thought the class was really hard at first but after the first month figured it out. take him if you need to pass history
good course, learned alot!
Very kind man, easy to learn from. Supper ezy to get a hold of .
a little bit heavy on reading, but in the end easy A
Webcam exams, clear grading criteria, and specified what would be on the exams. He required an online website and book purchase. Essays would sometimes be repeated so keep them in hand.
Took him for HIST 1302, made it fun in class and worked with us on every level. I was able to meet with him in his office. Most teachers don't hold office hours.
Mr. Kennedy really cares about his students. There is some reading and writing to do, but he breaks it up in a way that makes it easy to get a good grade. If you want to learn about US history this is a good class to take.
Easy class, nice teacher. He is quick to respond back to your messages.
This teacher cares too much about passing students. But I am glad he did! I figured out how to do his class and ACED IT!!!! Mr, Kennedy is sooper kewl!!! Take his class, he want you to be an A student!!!
Great Guy! Makes history interesting with his lectures and personality.. Reading quizzes he lets you take in groups. The book is free! supposed to read entire thing. 3 exams, very lengthy. Overall great great professor, recommend!!
He is an amazing teacher! Best I've had at STC so far. I have always been awful at history but he really took the time to make his students understand the material rather then just trying to get through it. Go to his office hours and you will do great! I would take his class again for sure :) A couple quizzes and tests but they aren't hard.
Mr. Kennedy is a professor who is interactive, engaging, and cares about his students' progress. He recognizes hard-work and helps those who take the time to ask him questions. I appreciate his engaging and understandable lectures and I appreciate the test formats and the review that he provides for us. Really excellent teacher.
fun class!
Mr. K is one of the best professors I've had at STC. He's knowledgeable and funny, and he genuinely cares about her students and their success. Class is an easy A Loved this class!!
Mr. K is a real teacher. He explains things from the past in a way you can understand. He also makes himself available after class and actually responds to emails!
One of the best teachers I have ever had!!!
Mr. Kennedy, is a really great professor. Sign up quick because his classes fill up. He is so passionate about History and makes class interesting. I would definitely take his class again. Explains in great detail, makes lecture He gives a lot of extra credit that can boost up failing grades. Does good reviews before exams. I love history now!
I prefer another professor.
Excellent professor! Makes history interesting. Somewhat challenging, but if you show up most days and do the assignments, overall, it is an easy A. He gives lots of second chances!!! He is very easy to get a hold of too. Mr. Kennedy gets back to you in like minutes.
Great prof! Very caring and fair. He talks about scary stuff though. History is no joke.
Hard quizzes and exams. You'll need to prepared but you he gives extra credit
choose someone else
He was our replacement so I really had no choice. We had already taken a midterm but he still gave us a midterm. Exams are written, not multiple choice. If you really want to learn the subject, choose him, if youre looking for an easy A, dont. He also lectures past his time which is an no ying
Mr. Kennedy is a great professor. He gears his lectures to test and quizzes. The one recommendation I would give is to make sure that you keep up on the readings and attend class due to random pop quizzes over it. Overall I would recommend him because he makes class fun and truly cares about his students.
Good teacher. Took him both for Hist 1301 and 1302. Wish he taught government.
Mr. Wallace is passinoate about history and it shows in his lectures. He enjoys sharign interesting stories. He provides videos and notes to all his lectures with plenty of time in advance. He also provides realy good study guides
Very easy professor. No quizzes, one midterm exam, one final exam, one 5 minute presentation, and very few homework assignments. Midterm and final exam consist of short definitions and a short essay. He gives extra credit. I would definitely take another class with him again!
Really good lectures, he makes them super interesting and seems very interested and knowledgeable with the material. Very approachable and always open to meeting with students. Gives helpful feedback on papers and assignments. Attendance matters.
He is good, easy A if you show up and do the reading. Offers extra credit. Really helps.
Seems really hard at first, but once you get what he wants, it is pretty easy if you show up and do the reading and watch the videos.
Not too hard, some reading and writing. He is a helpful instructor. Got an A
Super nice guy, cares about his students, a bit heavy on the reading and writing, but he works with to make sure you get the grade. Unlike most instructors at STC, he is super easy to get a hold of.
Mr. K is a great professor. Though he gives a lot of difficult work his class is fun and he gears his lectures to test and quizzes. The one recommendation I would give is to make sure that you read your book due to random pop quizzes over it. Overall I would recommend him because he makes class fun and truly cares about his students.
Good teacher who compels you to pay attention to our history and has clear directions on how to succeed in his course.
Very helpful teacher. A little bit heavy on the reading and writing, but not too bad overall. He get's back to you instantly when you have a question
He lets you use notes during the test or midterm and write down as many words as you can like very small handwriting and youll get an A.
Dr. Kennedy is a good instructor. He was always there when a student needed help
Dr. Kennedy is truly passionate about History and makes the lecture interesting. He also cares about his students. Although he is lecture heavy, many group assignments and his exams are 5 questions (2 essays, 3 short answer response) BUT he allows you to use a note card TAKE ADVANTAGE!! I would definitely take him again.
Mr. Kennedy is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I learned a lot about our history. He responds back quickly when you email him. He assigns a lot of reading , but it is easy to pass his grades.
Good teacher, offers plenty of chances to get your grade up.
Mr. Kennedy is easily my favorite/the best professor I had this semester. As long as you go to class, pay attention, and take notes, the class is a breeze. He's very straightforward and cares about his students.
Looking forward to taking Mr. Kennedys class again this semester. He is a little tough, but gives lots of chances to get an A!!!!
Great teacher. Very understanding during the pandemic.
everyone said he was a good teacher but I don't agree. he is not organized and you don't learn much. all his exams are open ended with essays.
Great teacher, he keeps in constant contact. Easy to work with.
Dr. Kennedy is a good professor. He gives the best feedback. He really cares about students
I signed up for him because everybody said he was really good. But when I took him spring 2020 I disagreed. His tests are open ended and essay. If you miss a class you will get a zero if he has a surprise quiz. The only reason I passed was because our classes got transferred online because of the corona virus.
Mr. Kennedy is a passionate teacher who teaches a lot about the History. He let's you use notes on the exams, so if you just prepare your notes you will get an easy A
Funny guy, like most history classes, there is too much reading, but he teaches good and I was able to get an A in the class
Professor Kennedy was awesome he was beyond understanding. He is not a tough grader. If you communicate with him and need more time he will give it to you. No text book needed because he provides all the readings. You do have to read a lot in this class. But like I said he is not a tough grader. Highly recommend.
If you are thinking of taking this class, prepare to not have enough time for yourselves. You have to read a lot if you want to pass, in his exams he gives you the opportunity to use notes from your notebook, but it is very heavy. Also, her way of answering is very rude. If you have any questions about the work, do not ask him.
This Professor is not what you would expect he is very rude I asked him multiple times over one question to get in and he wouldn't help me for nothing highly don't recommend I have a buddy that is currently taking this professor and he is struggling thats because hes very smart. Also theres hella work. Choose this professor at ur own risk.
Great professor. I wish I could have taken him in person, but the pandemic made me take it online. I think I would have got a better grade in person. But he is very nice and his course is easy to follow.
He only gives you a quiz and a lecture every week but you do have to read a lot. At first, it seems impossible but you get used to it. In the exams he lets you use your notes which have to be written by hand and you do need the lockdown browser and camera and he is not a tough grader. He provides you with readings and an essay at end of semester.
A bit heavy on the reading, but he provides very detailed study guides so it makes it easy to prepare. He is very easy to get a hold of, not to tuff of a grader. As long as you keep up with the schedule, you will pass his class.
Enjoyed Mr. Kennedy's class alot!!! He makes you read this guy named Zinn who blew my mind away. I barely knew half of this stuff before taking this class.
amazing and caring professor. Lot's of extra credit opportunities
Loved his alternative assignments! They saved my grade too many times. Mr. Kennedy has helped me realized there are many things interesting about our history and a lot to be concerned about. Between his lectures and the chapters, all free, he makes you read alot. BUt, like I saide the alt assignments save your butt!!!
Not too bad of an instructor. Defiantly takes his time to help you when you need it. Reading is a bit much at first, but half way through, you figure out what you can skip and still get a good grade. You can get a hold of him anytime of the day, so that was good when I had questions.
This man was a godsend. Out of all my professors, he was the only one willing to work with me after my kids and husband came down with Covid. He gives lot's of extra credit opportunites and returns your message really fast!
I'd say that his US History was my favorite class in college. It was challenging but the texts were good, the class was well structured, and the discussions were great! Would of like to take it in person, but stupid Covid!!!
Interesting instructor. There are a lot of different kinds of videos to make the class fun and interesting. Loved the reading material. Definitely liberal, but that will not effect your grade. What's best, his exams are all open note so you dont have to memorize anything and you still learn a ton
makes it easy to earn a good grade with extra credit, but the extra credit is sometimes hard. He is easy to message, and he replies super fast. Taking his HIST 1302 in the spring
Out of all five of my professors this semester, he was the only one willing to offer me an extension to complete my work over the Christmas break. He even met with me online to help me finish the course. Mr. Kennedy demands a lot but is very flexible and understanding.
Great class. Teacher really works with you to get an A! Mr. Kennedy requires a lot of reading but the study guides are very helpful. If you prepare with the study guides you can use them on the exam and get the A.
Good teacher, he has a lot of alternative assignments that help you make up any tests you miss. Makes it less stressful.
Mr. Kenedy is a caring teacher who helped me many times pass the course. I wish more teachers online would make themselves available like him.
The reviews are misleading. He is not flexible with his policies, but drops low grades (1 quiz, 1 essay). He is an easy grader, but it is a lot of work to do during the summer while most of us are working full time. About 2 quizzes & 2 essays every week, but it is open note. 4-5 page essay for final. Take this class if you like history & have time.
Easy grade. The teacher is easy going. I liked him alot. I hope to take him for more classes.
At first I thought this was going to be the hardest course ever, but after the first month I got the hang of it. Mr. Kennedy always responds to your messages, explains things, and helps you get good grades on the exam.
He gives extra credit which helps. He responds back quick to your messages which helps too. If you want a teacher that will help you pass, Mr. Kennedy is good for that . He makes history interesting too, very passionate about it. I liked him.
Great class, the teacher is pretty flexible. You learn a lot about slavery and race in his class. Really sad stuff
PRETTY AVAILABLE TEACHER ONLINE. GIVES LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT, ALTHOUGH HIS EXTRA CREDIT IS HARD. HE IS NICE TO TALK TO AND TEACHES HISTORY LIKE IT MATTERS WHICH IS COOL.
I liked the class. I learned alot. He responds quick to questions. All his readings are online too so you dont have to buy a book.
tough class. LOTS of work. dont take this class if youre taking other hard classes like a&p. not worth the amount of time u put in especially if its not ur major. he does offer extra credit but its a lot of work as well. def dont recommend this class.
I am a 4.0 student who committed four hours every weekday to this class, half a spiral notebook for EACH chapter, and it STILL only got me a B. AND that's with many many hours as well as extra credit papers each week. He doesn't care if you learn the material. He is extremely demanding. Don't fall for reviews! Spare your GPA, and run away. FAST.
Great instructor, he let's you use notes for the exam which makes it super easy to pass. I can't wait to take him in the summer.
Took Mr. Kennedy's class in the summer of 2021 online he was great very understanding and the class was not an easy A, You do have to read the textbook and lectures in order to understand and do the assignments. The great thing about the textbook is that it is FREE!!!!
Professor Kennedy is a good professor if you're a History Major or a History buff. If you are neither then save your time and stress and take another course. I did learn a lot and it was fairly easy if you dedicate about 3-4 hours a day to this course. Overall if you're looking for an easy A this is not the course for you.
Mr. Kennedy is a good professor. He really cares about US history and I . His lectures are easy to follow and recorded. His class is not easy, but he is very ezy to get a hold of and he offers enough extra credit to help if you don't do well on one of the exams.
Mr. Kennedy has a good class. There is alot of reading, but he provides nice study guides that makes it easy to pass the class. He offers extra credit and weekly study sessions.
He works with students. Easy to pass if you keep up. Weekly discussion of about 350-500 words and 5 minute quizzes with a couple of attempts online so easy to pass. His lectures are recorded so you can go back to view and read them to complete the lecture essays. He responds super fast to my questions Overall, great professor and nice person.
Kennedy is amazing. He is one of those teachers that really does care about what he is teaching, but doesn't make it boring. He tries to pass everyone with all the extra credit..... I just wish there was an actual text book, all the material is free, but I like to hold a book when I read and take notes
All i had to do for this class was 2-5 discussions per every 2 weeks or so. Which also comes with quizzes and one exam but i wouldn't say everything was very difficult. This class was very easy.
Such an awesome class! I rated 5 because as a procrastinator it was extremely difficult. I recommend "Speechify" to help with reading, but you do have to pay. No book to buy use website to read, 5min quiz, chapter discussion. For unit exam; lecture essay need to be done & the chapter questions filled 1-3 paragraphs w/6 long sentences. notes 4test.
The bare minimum can be done and you'll still pass. An abundance of extra credit. You can write about anything with a speck of history relating to the lecture and he'll give you points for that. His grading is weird and unclear. A lot of mistakes when grading, tell him about the mistakes and he'll correct
Great prof abs interesting topic. Free textbook, extra credit available too that helps if you get behind.
At first I thought this was going to be a really hard class, but once I figured out his style and use his study guides it became easier. You do have to read and write a lot but all the writing goes toward getting ready for his exams. I like how he responds barely after you message him too.
The teacher is helpful, but you do need to take ALOT of notes. It is helpful cuz you can use them on the exams. I took it for summer school, so I spent alot of time taking notes and reading his book. The book is free, so that is base. I barely got an A in the class, but did get one.
Some of material about nuclear war was scary but it was interesting. The exams were open note, so that made the class an easy A, but you do need to take notes at home. Mr. Kennedy is super helpful when you go to his office hours too. I learned a lot about American history.
Kennedy is an awesome professor! The online chapter is provided, so you don't have to buy a book and he provides a study guide exactly like the exams. He is not a tough grader and makes the grading criteria clear. The answers are in the chapter. His exams are open notes, you are timed, but he always responds to your comments and concerns!
A bit too much reading and work, but I think most history classes are like this. He does provide a lot of chances to get your grade up. He is easy to get a hold of and explains things well. I recommend Mr. Kennedy to anyone needing this class.
Good teacher. Not too hard. He has a crazy beard. Thought he was a biker when I first took him, but he said he never has ridden a motorcycle before.
He is a good professor. He is helpful and makes the assignments clear, including the test. He gives you a sheet to help you with the test you are going to take. The test are timed. He gives you feedback, and responds to whatever comment you leave. Overall, a good professor, helpful, and it was easy to do.
Mr. Kennedy prepares you for college and knows you can learn. All his stuff is online so you don't have to buy a book. I am going to take him again for the other history class.
Goes off topic way too much, he only covers 15% of material and expects you to attend outside lectures and tutoring in the middle of the day. In tutoring he covers more stuff than his lectures, you have to work for extra content, take tests many times to get info. It is ridiculous the amount of work that has to be done to even access information.
if you take this class you will have to do lockdown browser every week he gives your prompts, and you have to with a min of 5 sentences it also timed so if you are a slow Typer don't take this class, he is also really sassy with his response I wouldn't take him again personally.
All of his exams are online and open note, so it makes it really easy to get an A in his class. For most of the semester he offered extra credit to take walks with him, so that was cool. I am planning on taking his other history class in the fall.
Overall easy class, the text book is online. I liked his videos on YouTube. He gives extra credit to memorize all presidents
Awesome teacher. He gives weekly quizzes and weekly exams, oddly the exams are usually due on sundays so heads up. He does not accept late assignments no matter the reason but he does drop the lowest grades at the end of the semester. There is potential for an easy A .
Good professor and gave a loooot of info regarding each learning objective so be ready to read a lot. He was always available outside of class and gave extra credit opportunities, dropped the lowest grade, and constantly extended the due date.
Lecture exams were lockdown browser, but he allows you to use your notes on your exams. Had a lecture exam every week and a quiz before the class started once a week. This class does require you to put in some effort but it's definitely worth it. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Drops lowest grades at the end of the semester.
About each week there's a lecture exam with no more than 4-5 short response questions. For the first few weeks there are some quizzes. LOTS of extra credit opportunities. Professor Kennedy makes it almost impossible for you to fail if you do the bare minimum! He is sometimes funny in lectures as well. 25%ParticipationGrade 25%Quiz 25%Exam 25%Final
Took Kennedy for History II, he's a respectable professor with a clear grading criterion. He doesn't check on the student's progress because he expects them to be on the same page. Don't fall behind or the deadlines will take out for it. The class isn't hard but it is best you don't slack on it. his weekly tests are open-ended so studying is a must
People here are complaining that his class isn't easy. Is that what we want from our professors? Mediocre standards? Will you have to read/study the material and type in the exams? Yes. However, this isn't that much of a problem if you properly prepare. I like that he was open-minded and quickly responded to my questions. He's a good instructor.
Took this class during the summer. Would have been easier over a full semester, but I had an easy time making an A in his class. There was alot to read but he had videos that made it easy to understand. I would have only got a B in this class, but Mr. Kennedy offers enough xtra credit to get you to the next grade.
He's a good professor but his workload is a lot. If you're expecting an easy A don't take him, but if you do just do his work on time and not slack. He does offer a lot of extra credit though. He's very clear how he wants his assignments done, he's alright tbh.
Good teacher. I really learned how bad slavery was. We read a book by a slave woman that was really sad. There is a lot of work, but he offers a lot of extra credit.
not quite sure how this professor has good reviews. work itself is not difficult but it is very time consuming. If you have any dumb questions keep them to yourself because he will answer you in a rude way. My work was never good enough. No matter how much i prepared i always got bad grades in the exams. What saved me is the extra credit. Good luck
Loved Professor Kennedy, his passion for history makes it fun.
Wouldn't recommend taking the course with this professor. I took it and it was a very time consuming class, there a huge amount of homework mostly being video quizzes and lecture assignments that are completed through a secured browser in limited time given by him throughout the semester.
Interesting class. He is the best professor. I have. you learn a lot about how great and terrible US history is and it isn't very difficult. He cares a lot about her students and understands our feelings which not a lot of professors do. He is always telling us how worth it we are!
He is a good professor, he is attentive and responsive, promptly addressing messages and emails. In addition he is good at teaching us about the of US history, he consistently tells our worth and encourages us to believe in ourselves. His encouragement and support create a positive learning environment where we feel valued and motivated to succeed.
Good teacher. He is very encouraging. There is alot to read, but I liked it what it was about. There is sad stuff though. He grades quickly and respond to your questions fast!
In my experience, I did not like. He devides the chapters and each chapter has a dealine. He gave a second chance to complete previous chapter but in my experience he did not even grade it so I had to drop out because I did not know my grade. Too much for for the deadline. I message him and it could be a misunderstanding but It felt he was rude.
Professor Kennedy's HIST1301 class requires effort, but he offers ample extra credit opportunities. Using resources like unstuck AI and the free textbook can make it more manageable. His lectures are engaging and he cares about student success.
Group essays are assigned which is not the best, and he loves to ramble on info he assumes we already know. Be prepared to get to class the second it starts as he will begin the millisecond the clock strikes whatever time class is scheduled to last.. Keeps the class in as long as he can sometimes even longer than the class is supposed to go.
Great teacher, he is supportive and makes himself available
He comes off extremely nice the first day, but I do feel like he has a power complex as time went on. He gives so many assignments each week, and will say that there are "no hard deadlines", but there definitely is. His lectures tend to go off topic. All the assignments are extremely time consuming, like 5 hours a day. Group projects were a mess.
Instructor is passionate and committed. He is really flexible. Instead of doing the exams, all I had to do was go to his office and show him my notes and talk with him. It is not an easy A, but doable. Lots of extra credit!
Kennedy has 5 major tests all on Blackboard, each are low stakes. Has a lot of in-class activities. He has a friendly personality and is willing to meet with students outside of class. Passionate. Approachable. Uses open-source text, which is FREE!!!!
Kennedy is hilarious. His passion for history made his lectures not boring. A lot of assignments in the course, but due dates are super soft. He answers quick on Pronto. Overall great class. Highly recommend. 5 unit essay exams as well, which are easy depending on the partner you choose.
His class was fairly easy but the thing that got to me was how annoyingly confusing he was. He was a very contradicting professor who would come off as nice but text you at 5 am saying he's blocking you even though him himself would give you extra time to complete the many assignments he had “soft due dates”. He was just a very confusing professor.
Kennedy is a good teacher. Plenty of options to earn an A grade. Taking him again for part 2.
Pretty straight forward. Lot's of extra credit Writes all his lectures notes and posts them on black board. Good Professor and fair grader. He assigns a great book about Slavery. It is sad, but I learned a lot.
While the professor has a deep knowledge of the subject. Tough grader with strict expectations. Exam time of 80 minutes to answer 11 questions feels too short, making it hard to fully demonstrate understanding. Some material is confusing and contradictory. Responses need to be 5-7 sentences with lecture citations, which can be challenging to meet.
Wish I could take this teacher again, Mr. Kennedy offers incentives with play money to get you exempt from exams, even the final exam. You just have to show up to his class and turn in assignments early. There was alot of reading, but overall it was no that hard to earn an A in his class.
At first I thought it was alot of work, but after figured out his bundle thing, which is based, it was not that bad. He gives you money, it is not real, when you turn assignments in early, come to class, and do extra credit. You can use it to get out of the final exam which saved my but at the end of the semester. Take his class!
Mr. Kennedy uses assignment bundles; completing these easily earns a C. Doing more within the bundles yields a B or an A. Though there's often much writing, full credit can be purchased. Students earn money for punctuality, early submission, or extra credit. He discusses love, and once cried while discussing an author, which was moving.
Mr Kennedy is a great prof. He genuinely cares about his students and often talks about how love is important to to study in history. He bundles his assignments. He assigns an audiobook about a slave girl, it is really sad and inspiring.
tough grader lots of work with long videos from youtube
Great teacher, love the bundiling!
Interesting and passionate teacher. He fed us soup and it was so good. Yummy. Easy to talk to and his bundling for grades was super cool.
Great teacher. We read a book about girl enslaved that is really sad and learn about how the patriarchy is what cause the horrible situation for the slaves and women. I really enjoyed his bundles where you get to choose what grade you want to earn & he gives you money for being on time and turning things early that you can buy assignments with
This instructor is genuinely excellent, deeply invested in student success. You learn more than history in this class. The course itself is framed as an exploration of growth and change, even spiritual, offering valuable lessons that extend far beyond college life. You'll likely find this class to be more beneficial than you originally expected!
