willing to help, enthusiastic
i don't even know why is he teaching..expects you to know everything doesn't know how to explain things..irritated when you ask question and doesn't really like to help and not available when you need him..calls out on people at random which makes you nervous wreck and has an attitude of know it all person.
Awful. Not only did he expect you to know how to do everything on your own but he also was constantly making math mistakes on the board that students were constantly correcting. I was sick for 2 out of the 4 classes I missed and he took it upon himself to withdrawl me for "attendance." Not to mention he was very distracting with his nervousness.
Terrible. Hes rude, expects you to know everything,he is a very distracting person.. he has nervous tics/habits or something. I learned nothing in his class. He helped me very little. He constantly made mistakes on the board that the students would have to tell him about. Really cannot explain things in a clear fashion..
Calls you out when he thinks ur not paying attention, mistakes on the bored, which students need to correct.. has nervous ticks. filled 2 and a half notebooks of notes, homework, and suggested exercises.. but don't do well on tests, his advice to me was get a good enough grade to withdraw from the class. haven't been to the class sense, lol zelda
I have math anxiety and took his summer class. He is a tad bit eccentric, but I thought that he explained everything to the point that I could grasp it,and he was extremely helpful outside of class as well.Even let me redo a test that I did poorly on!And I finished with a decent grade.GREAT teacher!!
I took professor king for 111. Prof King taught like he expected you to know everyhting before you entered his class. I asked him for help and he didnt help me.
During our class the students end up teaching the teacher rather than the other way around. He has nervous ticks and constantly rubs himself. He is infuriated at people who are later. He expects us to know everything! This class is horrible and the teacher even worse!
Horrible teacher! expects you to know everything. goes to fast. doesn't know how to explain things. makes too many mistakes when showing examples. i feel that the students know more than him. his grading is even worse. he takes off every point of a problem if you don't do it the way he teaches, even if you have the right answer. DONT TAKE HIM!
He gives lots of examples so it makes it easier for you to learn. He is not a hard teacher but it is hard to get a good grade in his class. I would not recommend this teacher or tell you not to take his class. He is very fast paced and be prepared to do lots of work at home because you only take TONS of notes in class!!!
my whole class has spoilt their GPA because of this professor. he does not teach well at all.and corrects too strictly and never understands students. i would advise students to stay away from his class if u want to do well in pre cal. he's the only reason why we spoilt our GPA. worst professor ive come across
he's a very bad professor who spoils evryone's GPA's so if you are thinking about taking his class i would advise yo guys to drop it. his teaching is very poor and utterly strict. i regret that i ever came across his class
This Professor was very condescending, and very rigid on his attendance. he mocked me when I would call in to tell him I was going to miss class, even though I was within his attendance guidelines. He was a thorough teacher, and he explained things well. His grading was very fair. i would not recommend this class alot of homework, and speed quizzes
This teacher has been one of the greatest HACC has to offer. I Have followed him throughout 3 semesters and he has been nothing less of helpful. There is alot of work to understand all the new concepts, but once you get them your money is well spent. He as always been available and very helpful through the year and a half at HACC. RECOMEND!!!
Not a good experience in this class. I would suggest another instructor. He is NOT really good at what he does. He goes WAY too fast! The speed quizes are TERRIBLE!!!!
Anyone who says professor king is anything less than helpful was someone who chose not to do the work...As someone who struggles with math prof. King held many extra study class time as well as office time...to the smart few that took advantage of it I'm sure did fine. Best math teacher I have ever had!!!!
Unless you are in a lower level math class, do not consider taking King. You will see that most of the people who gave him good ratings are in lower level maths. I had him for Pre-Calc (119) and he didn't know what he was doing. I had a 97% in my high school pre-calc class and got a C in his. He teaches poorly and grades too strictly.
I really enjoyed this professor! It was a difficult class, but I think he taught it very well and in the best way it could be taught.
TERRIBLE TEACHER! Doesn't use information from notes on the tests. He talks way to fast and doesn't explain well. I advise NOT to take him ever!
Couple of things about King's 103 class, --No graphing calculator allowed, but he teaches very well. His take home tests are easy and he grades lightly, the take home tests are based on the notes from class, and the real tests are almost identical to the take home tests. So if you take good notes, you can pass this class. Id give him an A
Do not take this guy!! By the end of the semester, half the class had to drop because they were failing. I got a good grade, and I still am advising you to take anyone else!
He doesn't answer questions and he moves through material too quick. Most people received 10-30% on each exam.
Corny, goes through material real fast, always messes up equations while doing them so I get confused most of the times. Don't take him unless you really have to.
really funny guy. great class
Professor King is not easy, but if you work hard you can do well. There are a lot of tests (maybe seven), some pop quizes, and homework online. After getting a few low test grades, I went to the math tutoring center to get help when I needed it. That and always going to class helped me to pull my grade back up.
I was in pre calculus before coming to hacc. I had an A in it Ive always been good in math however when i took kings math class within weeks i was near failing. his teaching skills suck and he repeats words over and over again that arent important or relevant. his class speed is way too fast. i had to withdrawal myself so wouldnt fail the class.
King is nice and likes what he teaches. He gives you plenty of chances to ask for help in and out of class. If you're alright with math to start and practice as much as needed outside of class, you'll do fine.
King is great teacher. He's always willing to help you. He's a nice guy but he grades tests and quizzes really hard. All his quizzes are take-home. If you take him, I would recommend that you do well on all the homework and do a few practice problems each night.
Great professor! Explained things well so that I could understand it. Nice person and was always willing to help students during office hours. I would take him again.
his class is pretty difficult, he was very helpful and kindness, if you want to get a good grade at him, make sure to understand the material, if not seek for help from him. do the homework at the time and prepare for the quizzes.
Must attend class, if you miss 3 he will most likely drop you from the course. Very rude, unhelpful, called everyone by the wrong name, did not seem concerned with students.
Great professor! Tough course but he explained things well and really enjoyed what he was teaching. Would recommend to anyone.
This professor is so bad! he moves way to fast and dose not stop to explain and when you ask him to he looks at you like your stupid! His tests are nothing like his homework and hes not helpful at all.
Professor King was wonderful. I loved his class. In the beginning I was nervous because he moved quickly but I caught on. If you do all homework assignments, study for tests, and go to him for help if needed, you will earn an A.
He teaches very quickly, and also does not stop to help answer your questions. He makes a lot of mistakes when going over material. Test are ridiculously hard, and are trick questions. Test are no where close to the homework.
Homework and tests do not correlate, two different programs from two different books and he wants it written differently on the tests. Few test questions and they are meticulously graded. Nice guy, but awful teacher. You should already have a good grasp of advanced algebra going into this class if you want to succeed.
He is very helpful if you ask for help. Show up to class and do YOUR work. If you do both of those things you should do very well. I appreciated how thoughtful it was of him to help me with his spare time at his office. He really taught me a lot!
Basically an online course This class was terrible if you do not have a very clear understanding for this "Remediation Math" course. The tests were insane 13 total questions he calculates to make worth 150 points. ALL leaning was done on your own on the computer. He was not helpful at all when it came to elaborating on this online learning material
I took Prof. King as a retake for calculus 1 over the summer. Super nice guy and cared if you were learning the stuff. He was a pretty goofy guy too and it made the long summer class sessions better. I would recommend him.
Prof. King overall is very nice, but i would not take him again. if you are a student who likes their professor to be clear and that understands that you have other classes, avoid him. for your sake.
Do your homework, seriously do it. Short tough tests. You'll need mymathlab.
I thought that I'd take Professor King for 103 because the instructor that I had for 051 wasn't teaching 103. Well lets just say that the first test a lot of the class failed. Short and nothing like what he covered in class or what was on the homework. I knew most of the material that was covered and had to drop because the tests killed my grade.
Quizzes and mid-term/final are EXTREMELY TOUGH. Do not skip class. Be sure to get an A on all/most of your homework. If you use his class to learn how to study, you will learn quickly. Glad he is available to help outside of class and he can be really funny. Grades fairly and honestly. Memorize your formulas and you will be good to go.
Not sure what people are complaining about, I had taken class with Professor King back in 2013. Tough Grader? Then be correct. Complaining about missing class hurting you? Seriously? Stop being lazy. You get what you put in. Lots of homework? Did you go to college expecting a holiday or to learn? Mr. King, you're awesome. Enough said.
He can be a strict grader, but he's very clear on what he expects and gives lots of examples so as long as you pay attention during class you'll do fine. He gives the class a pretty good idea of what types of questions will be on tests. He's a very nice guy and was always willing to answer questions. I would definitely take a class by him again.
- teaches differently then most, but good. -homework online -lectures online -do examples in class -helpful when needed - respectful and well-being
Prof. King is a really nice professor, he has his own notes that he uses for each class. The examples he goes over in class are very helpful and very similar to questions on his tests. He is very clear on what to expect on tests. There was a quiz after every chapter and 4 big tests throughout the semester. MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR THESE TESTS!
Professor King is nice but that's about it. He teaches differently than the book. He gives take home quizzes for each chapter. His tests do not follow what he teaches some of the problems he didn't go over with. He does not break down the math. He expects you to know what he's talking about. If you can take any other professor then you should.
He's an okay professor. He does not really teach math well to people who need help with math. He teaches at a fast pace. I would not recommend him. Take anyone else.
This professor is not good if you are bad at taking tests. The homework and quiz assignments are weighted so lightly at 5 for homework and 20 for quizzes. The tests are horrible because they're worth 300 points each and they're only 12-19 questions. The final was worse, 400 points with only 14 questions and they are totally different than hmk
Statistics with Professor King was challenging, however success depended on the amount of effort you put in outside of class. His lectures are fast-paced, but lined with his off beat sense of humor that made sitting through an hour and 40 minutes of Statistics more bearable. If you practice outside of class and keep up with the material you'll pass
Very hard professor. Very funny voice cracks. Do not take his class!
I had next to no interaction with Professor King. I do not struggle with math, so I found the class simple and straightforward, but for someone who struggles with math, the lack of interaction could be difficult.
Professor King was straight forward from day one. He told us that this was not going to be an easy course and that we will have to study if we want to succeed . If you need help, he will help you for sure. Maintained an A until the final and got a B overall . STUDY THE NOTES FOR TESTS NOT HW. go through the note ex. probs a bunch for the tests!
Be ready to teach yourselves. Students constantly had to correct his work in class, when he bothered to show up. He cancelled multiple classes and the review for the final. Most of his quizzes and tests contained typos and incorrect formulas. But, on the plus side, you get bonus points for correcting his mistakes on tests!
Tough but extremely fair. Gave a 4% bonus on every (non-final) test for solving a hefty chunk of problems online (3 attempts at each question). His class requires a significant amount of energy, but his teaching is clear and his examples more than cover the test problems. The tests require normal preparation but no insane mental stunts, very fair.
I'm pretty good at math but this professor made new material difficult to understand . There are a few mistakes he makes on the tests/exams as well as when he teaches which can confuse some people. Whatever you do, look for any other professor to take. He does not seem to care about the students understanding the material.
He is a very good professor. I had done horribly in algebra 2 which is imperative to have in calculus and he helped me. I had him in precalculus and calculus 1 actually. Both times I had done much better than expected. Be respectful and not a jerk and youll be fine. Also, homework isnt mandatory I like book work so I worked through the book.
DO not take his class!! Although he does give a bonus of 3% or 6% for completing HW online. However, he is very tough at grading!!! He would take points off for unnecessary reasons. I worked so hard in the class and deserved an A. Take someone else!
I have a great amount of respect for Prof. King. Although I didn't pass his class, he was always honest and patient with me. He is a very hands-off teacher and you must teach yourself most of the work, but he is approachable and available for questions if you make the effort to schedule time with him. Most students in this class dropped out. Tough!
Worst professor I have ever had. All of the test questions have content that were never even seen during class or on any of the homeworks. He makes mistakes on his own notes, slow to reply to emails when needed, and forces you to keep your camera on. Please take any other professor than this clown.
Please do not take this class. His lectures are extremely boring and I found myself getting lost several times during the notes. Once you get further into the semester and the work gets harder, his teaching style just gets worse. When he teaches, it is nothing like the homework, and he makes mistakes daily on the notes. He also grades very harshly.
Easily the hardest class Ive taken here at HACC. Would not recommend anyone taking professor King. The grading system is atrocious each exam being worth 300 points each. Also does not seem to care about how the students are doing.
Run, do not walk, to the nearest exit from this class IF you arent a strong math student. I put in 20 hours a week to this class. Ive never put so much time in to a class to yield such poor results. Im typically an A student. Tests are worth majority of points and content isnt always something that was taught.
This class is not worth the hoops Professor King will put you through. The tests are 300 points, there are 3 of them, and everything else is 30 points or less. He records every test, which is fine for integrity, but if you don't show him your room long enough, your supplies and each individual piece of BLANK paper before the test, you get a 0.
I had to get the Dean involved with this teacher. For the same reasons I see in the other reviews. He wanted to dock me 10% on a huge test because the proctoring system wouldn't let me in and I couldn't submit on time and then he wouldn't answers my emails for 4 days, which more than 48hours is against policy, Dean said. She had a talk with him.
This is my first time hearing about this website and decided to check out my professors from fall 2021. I have been out of high school for 10 years and majoring in chemistry, this is an advanced course and you have to put in work to pass, as its a STEM. Unfortunately he does not hand out free As like other professors, this may come as a shock.
Prof. King's class was tough, despite it being a lower level math course. I took Calculus 1 at a major university and even that was easier than his basic MATH 111 course at HACC.
The class was taught in the flip classroom format. I took the course in the Fall of 2021 and it was all online. It was very fast paced and was difficult to keep up. If you asked a question, he would always answer it. If you don't show up, you're not going to pass. Overall, if you can't handle a fast paced course, I don't recommend it.
Just do yourself a favor and don't take this guy. My whole classed basically had to withdraw.
I have never had a professor that seems to WANT his students to fail his class. He does absolutely ZERO teaching, he rips videos off of YouTube and acts like they are his, and if you don't solve problems exactly how the videos show you, he will give you zero credit. He goes OUT OF HIS WAY to delete past assignments so you cannot study them. AVOID!!
He doesn't tell you what you did wrong, his grading criteria isn't clear at all, and he was very poor at communication. He seems very arrogant. Didn't solve something his way but still got the right answer? Well, he marks it wrong anyways, and there is no extra credit. I have never been in a worse mental headspace then when taking his class.
I am sure professor King knows math very well. His grading is heavy on testing. There are minimal points for quizzes, homework, etc. This class was not for "math majors" however the grading received makes it feel we are all supposed to be math majors.
Did not answer emails well and had to get in contact with the Dean to understand why I was being dropped from his class. Very rude comments from him regarding my class.
Literally run away. I am not a math person by any means (literally an art major) but my friend who is a bio chem major and aced AP calc etc etc even had to sit and struggle with me trying to assist me in assignments. I have never hated a class so much or had a prof who I felt wanted me to fail. Waste of my money, time & stress.
Professor King has got to be the worst professor I have ever had in my six years of college. He makes his students' lives harder than it needs to be and sets them up for failure. This course wasn't even difficult, he just made it difficult. If you didn't write a problem exactly how he did he puts a zero even if you got the problem correct.
I specifically rented the math book. He gave notes and videos for you to go along but if you did not use his methods, and used methods from the book, he would dock you zero. Tried giving in extra credit material but because I did not write down the initial problem, he did not count any of it. Would not recommend this class to anyone.
This class was one of the most stressful classes I have ever taken. This course is completely based on tests and even with a tutor I had a difficult time with this course. Even my tutor had never seen a class like this before. There is extra credit but you have to do a lot of work to get 5 bonus points on an 125 point test. Do not take this class.
Professor was very fast pace was not helpful or considerate for students that didn't understand.professor also makes you feel bad or stupid for asking questions Would not recommend to take this class.
never again
This prof was extremely unaccommodating to his students needs. Since this was an internet course he also relied on Respondus/Lockdown browser for exams. The problem here is that he is extremely strict with the set up of a students test environment. He made me redo the practice set up 5 times based on the most minor discrepancies. Do not take prof.
The most difficult class I have ever taken. Professor openly plays favorites, and makes people feel bad for not understanding things. Offers no extra credit, most of your grade is tests. Tons of busy work with Pearson view problems, which allows very little time to study for tests. Avoid taking his class at all costs. To his credit, he is funny.
Worst Professor I have ever had, if you have his class dropout NOW. I am just a highschool student who wanted to take stats during the summer, he made it near impossible and I had to drop the class, ended up getting a 5 on the AP stats exam. If you struggle in that class its not you its him. Again DROP his class as soon as possible.
THE WORST PROFESSOR YOU WILL EVER HAVE. HE DOES NOT CARE FOR HIS STUDENTS AND DOES NOT GIVE ANY EXTENSION FOR ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. DO NOT TAKE HIM. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
I found this professor unsympathetic when I asked for guidance with my learning accommodations. Instead of offering support, I was encouraged to drop the course. Students needing patience or understanding may want to look for another section
This professor discouraged me from staying enrolled when I asked about structure and accommodations. The tone was rigid and unsupportive. If you value empathy or flexibility, I recommend choosing another instructor.
I took an online class of his. The program he uses was incredibly easy and helpful compared to some of the ways I heard my friends professors were teaching their math class. All you have to do is watch the videos and do your homework for him, at least the online classes. He is not super friendly and very rigid though. Not the most helpful.
Statistics is already hard, but he makes it worse with exams that are weighted so heavily it should be illegal. On top of that, his strict rules and regulations for taking tests make the class feel more like military training than a basic graduation requirement. Not the most supportive, empathetic or student-friendly experience. DON'T TAKE!
SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE MISERY! A waste of college funds.
This man teaches like he's training us for the Statistical Army. The rules? Excessive. The exam weight? Criminal. Good luck, soldier.
Horrible class. The workload is overwhelming, the exams are brutally weighted, and the rules make it feel like a punishment instead of a course. Easily one of the most stressful and least helpful classes I've taken.
