very good teacher he wants his students to lern the material in the easiest way possible
Excellent Professor!!!!
Nice guy. Good Instructor. He makes learning medical terminology as painless as possible. Tests were a little hard, but if you study you can easily pass.
very good teacher. He explains terms in the way you can understand. The test are a little difficult but if you study the disc in you book you will pass.
Very funny and nice teacher. Class is easy and tests are pretty easy. I got an A. I strongly recommend him.
Very good teacher. Tests are a little hard.Try to be in class everyday because u never know when he is going to give extra credit and u dont want to miss it! Do a good research paper, and when u present your material to the class make sure u have alot of kowleadge of your subject. He makes learning this subject fun with his storys and jokes!!!!
Dr. Knight is excellent he really makes it as easy as it can be
Dr. Knight was not an easy teacher! Some days he wouldn't even show up without notice! His class is not easy and he's not a helpful professor! I would recommend some other professor for this course!
This was the hardest teacher. Never EVER take him online. Unless you know exactly everything about medical terminology. Hated his class. TEST are EXTREMELY hard. Very little multiple choice. Alot of fill in the blank. NOT recommended AT ALL.
Good teacher. He relates the terminology to real life since he is a retired doctor. The information is not easy but if you use the tools that come with the book and spend 1-2 hrs a day studying, you will do well.
Thought this would be an easy class for the summer. was I wrong. Not really that bad but he thinks way to highly of this class. Tests were harder that they needed to be for this class & you have to write a paper. He can be very moody & rude sometimes. He hates to be wrong.
He is so hard! I thought this was going to be my easiest class & it turned out to be one of the hardest. He is very stoic and does not really care about how your doing in the class. He also makes you want to fall asleep in every class period. I would definitely not recommend him for any classes let alone an 8:00am class!
I have never had such hate for a teacher before. He is dull & makes his tests unnecessarily hard. 1 example would be all true or false on salaries &employment growth. i mean really?! 1 number could be off and it would be false. This is definitely not an easy A with him. There arent enough grades in the class to pull your grade up if you fail a test
It was awful.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER...he is awful. He hates to be wrong and will argue his point till the other person shuts up. Tests are rediculous! Mostly fill in the blank. He is monotone, dull, and boring! I am so glad the class is over!!!!
Worst professor EVER! Not helpful, hates to be wrong, and ex marine. Complete jerk and the tests are stupid. I recommend NOT taking this guy or anything!
Terrible professor. His tests are mostly fill-in-the-blank and he counts off for insignificant capitalization and he uses incorrect apostrophe placement. I had to challenge several questions on every test and ask for points back and corrections. He comes across as extremely unapproachable and actually not very bright. This class was torturous.
Excellent profesor! Very helpful. Peppers his class with entertaining stories to keep things from getting boring. Very interesting and caring guy. And VERY knowledgeable about the material he is teaching, as well as, about many other topics. If you are a people person, you'll love his class!!
Not sure what's up with some of you who have rated Dr. Knight. Esp. the one who said "not very bright". To say that about a physician, you must not be. This man is excellent at teaching and has tons of character. He wants you to know the material b/c if you don't, patients can die! Re-evaluate your career choice.
He is an extremely hard teacher. You never know what is gong to be on his test's. He is a nice man, but he is so boring. He grades the APA essay way to hard for human kind.
I am currently taking Medical Terminology with him and can honestly say I adore him as a teacher. He is a physician and knows exactly what he is lecturing on. He's a little older so it's a bit hard to connect at first, but overall I would absolutely take another class with him. Highly recommended!
Very hard. He did a lot of rambling. The very first class he did not explain a thing but just jumped right in expecting you to know it by heart. Very boring and his comments are insignificant. I dropped his class the second week and thank God i did. I do not recommend him to anyone. No doubt he is a brilliant man but not an amazing teacher.
Fantastic teacher. He had an answer to every question and his tests were easy! All the answers were right there in the book. I highly recommend him to anyone genuinely interested in learning medical terminology. I will definitely be taking another one of his classes. Excellent teacher.
Loved him. Made the class intersting. Loved to talk to him. Remembers you after you leave his class. Very polite. Do your work and study and you will do Great
LOVED this class! I thoroughly enjoyed having Dr. Knight as an instructor. Be prepared for his class by reading ahead and make time to study, A LOT, and you'll be fine.
Dr. Knight was by far one of the better professors I've had at midlands. He is harder because he is a doctor, so his expectations are high. But very helpful, always has an answer to ANY question.
The class is going to be hard no matter who your teacher is because of the material. I very much enjoyed having him as my teacher. He is entertaining, and since he was a Dr. has a lot of good stories to go along with the teaching material (helped me remember stuff better!)
Dr. Knight is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Although he does base almost all of your grade on your tests he is very helpful and goes into detail all the systems so your sure to understand. Also he does work with you if your going to miss class to reschedule tests and homework. The only bad is no late entry, the door is locked.
Dr. Knight is the WORST teacher ever! Extremely rude and not helpful at all. His classes are pointless. I HIGHLY recommend you NOT sign up for his class.
I do not recommend Dr. Knight for anyone who has zero experience in medical terminology. If I had not taken this class at another college I would have failed! He has this idea that assigning homework on a new chapter every week (which puts you way ahead of what you are actually studying) makes learning easier. It just makes things more confusing.
He was seriously the rudest, most horrible teacher I have ever had in my life.
Rude, will not work with you on anything! I took the class online and he made the test format ridiculous. His instructions aren't clear at all.
This Professor is the worst at teaching. He rambles on about nothing. Is not willing to work with you on anything and will not change your grade once it is submitted even though you got the answer right.
Good professor. You to study hard because he give you only key points. No study guide, but do email words that may be helpful on test. The test are not so hard, but you have to know your medical terminology.
I do not recommend this teacher. I took an online class with him and he was very difficult to work with. He is rude and is not willing to work with you on anything. He is constantly emailing about something--worse than taking the class at school.
This man was the worst! If you have to take this class take it by it self. And have lots of time to study. You'll need it. He will not help you even if you ask!
Dr. Knight is an awesome professor! He is always willing to work with students, but he strictly adheres to deadlines. In this class you will need to study if you don't have prior healthcare experience, but he is willing to explain anything you are having difficulty with. Medical terminology is pretty self explanatory; if you fail, it's on you!
Dr. Knight is a good teacher with lots of experience in the medical field. He is very strict when it comes to taking tests and getting your work in. Don't expect to get make up tests if you miss them for a reason other than a death. He is a no excuse type of teacher. As long as you study and get your work in on time, he is easy to get along with.
You technically do like 4 chapters at one time just to take a test on two of them. Not enough time to study the material when you're trying to keep up with the online assignments. You have to be motivated to teach yourself EVERYTHING. He hates to be wrong and will sit there and argue with you over nothing. I have to retake AHS102
Basically, a south end of a north-bound donkey. You will not like him, but you can work with him.
I took this class online, and by far the worst experience. He was not straightforward about what was expected of us, there were loads of assignments for each chapter and we were all doing them, only for him to say none of them were required, then blamed it on us. He gets an attitude when you try to clarify assignments bc your confused. Very rude.
you learn 2 chapters then take a test. its not bad if you study but if you dont study youre screwed. also, he gives you words that are important to know like the day or 2 before the test... its like to tease you or something after you have literally studied word from word on page to page... he lectures the entire class.
hes ok, not mean or anything but class is terribly boring. not to mention you have to study your butt off if you exoect to pass!
Knight was virtually invisible this semester. He was like the phantom professor. Take someone else.
Expects you to learn too many words before a test, he will cram 2 chapters in before a test & expect you to make a good grade! Yeah right that's impossible when all you do is read off of power points.
If you do not read or do Mind Tap assignments, make flash cards and study, expect yourself to fail. The main thing in this class is to study, study, study! Know your words, know how to spell them correctly and you will do well! I did all of this and received an A!!!
All test are on computer system. System has many flaws. Several times after saving responses and submitting, I then reviewed finish test to find several blank answers. I reported this to no avail. Often correct answers are dismissed. For example: if you write Chron's disease in the blank, and disease was already at end of blank, its marked wrong.
People really give Dr. Knight a hard time, but I loved him! Show up to class ready to work and you'll do fine! This is medical terminology, it's going to be hard. But he makes it enjoyable and relates it to real life experiences. Respect him and he'll respect you. Really sweet guy if you give him a chance. Goes through tests to double check answers
He reads straight from the book, and you ask a question he makes you feel like you should know the answer. The test are ridiculous, because he goes over all this material and don' t give a study guide. Horrible
Over half of my class dropped his class because they were failing. Enough said... is it the students or poor teaching? Save the trouble and take the class online or find choose another professor.
Lots of students are failing. He doesn't really teach much, just reads from the book and talks about patients that he experienced related to the subject. I kinda taught myself from the online hmework assignments through Cengage (MUST BUY NEW BOOK IN ORDER TO ACCESS CENGAGE). Learning what I need to though.
You have a test at least every other week usually on two chapters at a time. If you do the hw and take notes you'll be ok. You need to study this is a heavy memorization class but Dr. Knight is super nice and wants you to do well.
Nice person but awful instructor. Doesn't review before tests. Gives you a list of words to know TWO DAYS before a test. Tests every other week. Multiple choice/fill in blanks. You need a new book with access code so you can study the words and do the homework online. Make notecards!!!!! They really help.
Just don't take his class.
AWFUL dont waste your time. Doesnt respond to emails and when he does respond his is very snarky.
Using the word "teacher" for this man is a stretch. Half of my class withdrew due to their grades. He gives you no idea of what may be on the tests, and it seems like they're meant to trick you. I also think all the good reviews on here were probably written by him because there's no way anyone could have a good experience in his class.
This instructor sucks. The test are timed. This guy is so tricky do not trust nothing he tells you. If you have to take him study hard. The home work is to much, and not worth much!!By far this class with was too hard. But he did me a favor! Now I'm at a school that helped me! I passed with an A!!! So I thank him!!
Zero chance in this class. Covers a chapter in a single lecture that has over 100 terms to learn. He gives no study sessions. No review sessions. Each test covers 2 chapter that have over 200 terms. He does not narrow the terms down nor gives any clue what is going to be on the test. AVOID him at all costs.
He makes his expectations crystal clear at the start. This isn't a class you can cram for the night before and pass, you must work multiple hours a week to do well. It is not difficult material but requires lots of memorization. The students who struggled didn't study, didn't do assignments, and didn't pay attention. You will learn if you work.
He was not a very good teacher. His tests were difficult and the answers on the test were different than what it said in the book. He doesn't respond to emails and he is not very nice. However, he did give a great final exam study guide.
Dr. Knight is lecture heavy with tons of notes and tests pretty much every week.
Dr. Knight loved to talk about himself a lot so It would be hard to stay awake, he should have been teaching the lesson. You had to do everything on time or he will give you a zero nothing better. He didn't like to help much. Basically if you need some help with anything, don't take this class.
DO NOT take this class, all he talks about is his self & then he will test you on this that he doesnt even teach , I feel like I know more about his personal life then medical terminology !
I would not recommend this professor unless you want to waste your time. He comes to class and lectures about the procedures he's done and about his kids and grandkids. The mindtap assignments that are graded are not even related to the tests and those are your only two grades. I took med term in high school and got an A and failed this class..
i couldnt even select 3 tags for this professor. he is so rude and not helpful and is so full of himeself. i wish i never signed up for him. im not even the type to ever complain but YIKES.
Just took my first test in his class and got 49 out of 60 questions right. Mostly all of it was from the book. So after reading all these comments it just seems to me that no one really studies outside of this class. I would at least study a hour or two every night on this class. Also Im a really bad test taker. Will update after a few more test.
He is by far the worst professor I ever had. Not only does he not care about his students, he claims he is too busy to help out those who are struggling. He gets snarky about emails, and talk so much about himself. When lecturing, he gave information NOT NEEDED for the test, so we had no idea what to study for. Save yourself the trouble and avoid.
Just took the midterm and failed. Made a 72 and now Im not gonna pass this class. I study at least 20 hours a week for this class. Im Just trying to get into a career that makes me happy but from taking this class I now see that Im not going to make it in health care. I dont know what to do anymore. Only one option left
Don't take this course with this professor!!!
He isn't as bad as some of these comments make him seem. Do your Mind Tap assessments, STUDY and you'll be fine. He notices when his class needs help, so he will send out review sheets. They help out a lot. This is college, not high school. Pay attention, ask questions and study. He's not a bad professor :)
Only class I study for and not sure if Im going to pass. Crazy the classes I dont study for I have As. This class is super test heavy and memory based more then a 1/3 of the class dropped its definitely not a class you can miss or not study for. Its currently 1:22 am and I have a test tomorrow. I put at least 20 hours a week into this class.
He is supper hard. He lectures the whole entire class. Very strict on attendance. His test are supper hard and he gives the study guide the day before the test so it doesnt help. I wouldnt recommend him supper difficult.
Get ready to teach yourself. He is nice and smart, but he was a doctor 1st, teacher 2nd. Hard to follow because he talks to you like your'e a doctor. Doesn't explain material well, or what he will be testing on. Also likes to talk about past surgeries and patients as class examples but it ends up taking too much class time and we fall behind.
The material is easy to grasp, however, this instructor makes his tests unnecessarily difficult. Almost half of the class dropped. He provides 'study guides' for the tests that have very little to do with the actual info on the tests. His tests are tricky, his feedback is 'snarky', lectures are often irrelevant. You end up teaching yourself.
Lots of work to complete, but most of it doesn't count towards your grade. If you can't pass his tests, which are tricky and extremely difficult, you won't pass the class. The overall grade is based mostly on tests and a small percentage on labs. His study guides are not helpful, as he's stated info on the study guides may or may not be on tests.
He is a good professor when you're willing to do the work. He provides everything you need for the tests. The study guides he gives, help. He even gave us a study guide for the exam and it obviously helped because I made an A! Do the work and you'll be fine.
I don't totally agree with these comments. Yes, he is tough but if you put in the work like you should be doing anyway you will be fine! He is very knowledgeable about this course and learned a lot. Focus in class, take notes, try your best and all will be well.
Please do yourself a favor and dont take him. This class is the hardest Ive taken, first class I ever failed. The grading was unclear and I thought I would pass after calculating my grade multiple times. He changed up the extra credit and the grading procedure was unclear. I ended up failing because he graded differently than the syllabus said.
He has a very high fail rate, and for good reason. Lecture rarely matches up with what is on tests and homework, and often focuses on procedures that he has done, rather than what we need to learn.
Good teacher, a lot of work but extremely nice!
This class is extremely hard and is based mostly on test that are almost impossible to prepare for. All classes are filled with lecture and does nothing to engage your brain.
Dr. Knight is a nice man and probably a good surgeon, but teaching is not his thing. His lectures do not line up with the test. His tests are very tricky and does not seem to test you on knowing the terms but rather trying to make you fail.
Dr. Knight in overall isn't an extremely bad professor. he could be better. His lectures in class are powerpoint of sections in the book, he lets you know what "might" be on the test. One thing he does do is send review "guides" to the class before the test to help you out. Just study, study ,study the material and you'll be good.
You will have to go outside his study techniques. Study everything he teaches, you will never know what is on the tests.
You NEED to buy the required textbook and register for Mindtap. All of the tests on Mindtap become a single test grade. Completing the end-of-chapter questions will help you study and Professor Knight highlights terms that you need to know in his powerpoints. He provides one scheduled extra credit opportunity. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!
As long as you study you can pass this class. Sometimes offers cheat sheets during tests but you shouldnt rely on that. If you study you will get an A
Gives you all the info to pass but doesn't teach it well. You have to learn everything yourself. Sometimes allows cheat sheets but don't bet on it.
I have never wrote a review till now. Mr. Knight is the worst professor I have ever had. Heavy lectures, mindtap assignments, which DO NOT match his tests. He is not caring nor compassionate. I studied for hours upon hours and FAILED. I accidentally forgot to turn in a mindtap assignment and asked if he would accept it late, but no! Dont recommend.
I actually didn't have a problem with Mr. Knight. The only thing I had a problem with was emailing. He does not always respond and you may have to email him more than once!
I didn't have any problems with Mr. Knight.I had him online and everything was pretty easy. The only thing is, he hardly responds to emails!
Dr. Knight is very dry in his teaching style. He is hard of hearing and maybe this is the reason that class particiption is not encouraged. Make sure you do the sheets he hands out, as those will be on test. I wish I had known that going in, but if you study you will pass. He told us all twins that were the same gender were identical--not correct!
Please do not take his classes. He is not compassionate whatsoever. He is very passive aggressive for no reason. He is not the best at teaching, all he does is read off a slide and calls that teaching. You have to learn the material all by yourself. He is very rude to you when you do not know the answer to a question and he will single you out.
I don't think I ever heard from this professor. I emailed him multiple times and never received any response. You teach yourself entirely, which was fine with me but I could see how someone would struggle with this. I took a very similar class in my high school last year so I was very familiar and that's the only reason I didn't struggle.
He's okay. Although he gets mad when people ask questions. He talks kind of slow so I find myself trying not to fall asleep in his class. He also expects everyone in the class to know the answer to the questions he asks, and then gets mad if we don't know the answer. But overall the class is pretty easy, it's just memorizing terms.
Dr. Knight is an interesting professor that's for sure. During class, he's very lecture-heavy and spends a lot of time reading off slides and calling it teaching. He's very hard to access outside of class because he doesn't read his emails nor does he make it easier if you are out of class because you are sick. Overall not a good professor.
He is super old and couldn't hear anyone in class. Not trying to be rude but he should seriously consider retiring. I would do the homework assignments exactly how he asked and would receive random grades. He takes forever to grade and never answers emails. Overall the class was super easy and the tests were simple. Attendance is mandatory
This professor disregards letting students know when due dates change. He fails to communicate to students. He takes forever to respond to emails. And I would never choose him again.
Pretty easy
This professor changes due dates the day of without notice, ignores emails almost entirely and if he responds he is very aggressive and rude, grading seems to have no consistency, marks his own examples as "incorrect", and accuses students of plagiarism for his own written instructions on assignments. Do not take a class with this professor.
be prepared to do all HW in the first 2 weeks. He will change dates to past dates with NO WARNING! then say " you should have been prepared simple as that. either its done or it isnt". things that were due friday are now due 2 days ago & he posted it today! he will talk down to you and he will make you fail things. he is the worst.
The class is pretty straightforward if you stay on top of the material. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for streamlining my study prep. Just be prepared to teach yourself, as the professor can be hard to reach.
Dr. Knight himself is knowledgeable in his field. He just can't teach to everyone's teaching style. He reads straight from the slides and sometimes contradicts himself. He also takes forever to grade, which did not help me as I'm in a special dual enrollment program with a strict C or better policy. Overall a nice guy though.
Literally the worst professor I've had. He's so quick to put in a zero but won't grade the 9 assignments you already submitted. Will close an assignment before the due date and give you a zero at the same time. Doesn't tell you there's work until it's too late and you never know what he's actually talking about.
Says textbook examples (and examples provided by him) are wrong, closes assignments before their posted due dates, can never hear students and when he can, he is incredibly rude to them, he doesn't understand student questions and therefor cant answer them, and takes over a month to grade assignments so you won't know if you completed it wrong.
