this guy just keeps going and going... doesn't end class on time. maybe he should work out the problems first so he doesn't make so many mistakes during class, and try to skip over them.

This was the lowest grade I ever got while in college. I hated this class more than anything. I had no idea what was going on at any given moment and I don't think that Lavelle did either. Hated it!

I had to drop this class because I hadn't a clue what was going on. He is a horrible teacher.

this has to be the worst teacher that i have ever had in my life, not only does he explain things back words, it seem like he has never brushed his teeth once in his life. he looks like austin powers baby.

I've difficult teachers in the past, but this guy is the first teacher to be difficult because he can't teach. It may not be high school math, but he still have to guide us on the right path before we can do the rest on our own.

This guy is a really bad teacher. I did really well in the class and basically had to teach the whole class what to do because he had no idea. He makes you learn to do the problems without the formulas...and gets pissed if you do learn the formulas, wow

I didn't learn from last semester and took him again for an even harder class and got a C because this guy just sucks. Run from this guy at any cost!!!!!!!!!!!!

when my friends told me not to take him b/c he was a horrible teacher, i didn't believe them and that was my mistake. he's horrible.doesn't teach anything and doesn't know how to teach.i ended up dropping the class.DONT EVER TAKE HIM..U'LL REGRET! I DO!

This man is the worst teacher I've ever had. I seriously don't know how Iona hasn't fired him already. He doesn't help and if u ask him a question he says come see me for extra help. HE WON'T ASWER YOUR QUESTION! And to top it all off he inults u in front of the class and has really stupid jokes!!

He is the most rude and inconsiderate teacher I have ever had! He does not want you to pass his class. He does not explain anything, and if you ask him a question he doesnt, and wont, answer it for you. He assigns two projects, which are annoying, and he deosnt tell you what you are suppose to do.

He was the worst teacher i have ever had. Do not take him unles you want to teah youself. He is completely all over the place, and not willing to clarify his instruction, he acts like ur an idot if you dont get it.

THIS IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER CREATED! He teaches something, mumbles it upon himself, doesn't even explain it right. Unless you're one of those students who sits in the front n sucks up to teachers then u might pass. He goes over things quickly then asks if u have any ?'s then stares at you for 20 mins, if u do ask a? he makes u feel like an idiot

Hard class because it is so boring its hard to concentrate. The material is easy but he is horrible at explaining. He told me to drop his class because i was wasting him time when i asked him a question about the homework.

Very bad professor. If you can even call him that. He doesn't teach, he demeans the students if they don't get the material. Not helpful. Clearly hates his job, so doesn't put in the effort to really teach. Just don't take the class, keep your sanity.

horrible. I'm usually good with math and i've always gotten good grades in math even though i'm not the slightest bit interested in it. I never blame professors either when I don't like a class but this guy hates it when you ask questions, always has a terrible attitide, and has no sense of a set grading system. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE

Absolutely terrible teacher. Simply doesn't teach, meaning you must teach it yourself using the textbook, but then he says to follow his methods and not the textbook's. Which leads you to have no idea what is going on at all. I was placed in his class and tried to get out of it my first week in college, but simply couldn't. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!

If you would like to spend your semester in the tutoring center in Amend Hall.... Then my advice is to take this course, with him teaching...

BY FAR the worst teacher in iona college. he doesnt teach you anything and he wrote his own textbook so it doesnt make it any easier. DO NOT TAKE you will fail even if you understood everything before you came into the class.

He knows the subject but doesn't know how to TEACH it. He always says the way we all learned math in high school is wrong and his way is right(confusing). He makes the simplest subject feel like the hardest thing in the world. If you want to be like me and be in tutoring all the time then take him because he does not know how to explain ANYTHING.

Worst teacher I've ever experienced in my life. The worse teacher I've ever had at Iona College. Straight 4.0 GPA and because of his class I had to drop it which made my report card have one flaw. His teaching methods are horrible, he doesn't explain what he teachs right, and if you study for his test, the test are nothing like what he tells you to study. Horrible avoid if possible.

I have taken him for several math classes and he is horrific! I am a math major and sitting through his classes is dreadful. He is very rude and makes mean comments to his students. He says that the students at Iona are unintelligent! I would definitely not recommend him!

Worst professor ever. Wish i dropped him before coming to school like everybody told me to. Doesn't answer questions.(asks you back the same question you asked him) Very rude. I was always good at math but struggled to even get a C+ in this class. made us buy a 215 dollar calculator he doesn't even know how to use. PLEASE DONT DO IT

Horrible. Professor uses non-constructive criticisms in "teaching" his students. He also does not provide any clarity in his teachings, does not give any notes in class, and does not use the $135 textbook. He often laughs at students when their ideas are not up to his standards. I should have dropped his class like the most other students do.

I hate him. He's useless in class. So rude, and doesn't respect his students. I failed his class and took it at my new school and got an A+. Iona College has the worst math department ever. If you can, take math somewhere else. Good luck

i spent a month and a half in his class until i couldnt take it anymore. He never taught anything, he would write a bunch of crap on the board and expected us to know everything. i showed my notes to former calculus students and they had no idea what he was trying to teach. so if you actually want to learn something, DONT SIGN UP FOR HIS CLASS!

Woeful. Tries to be too clever sometimes. He once attempted, completely off of the syllabus, that 2 + 2 is 5, and spent 30 minutes saying that we couldn't disprove him so he was right. Feels like he makes his students feel stupid. Use the textbook instead.

i will say this, he's incredibly smart, but doesn't know how to relay that knowledge to his students at all which makes his classes incredibly hard and even more confusing than it needs to be. When asked he wouldn't even give a clear answer on a grade average after the midterm. Jump ship and find a new teacher while you still can

I changed Iona because of him. I hated IonaBecause of him. Simply dose not teach. I am a good student. I received C+ in his course and we were 4 students. when I changed the school i took same class and i got an A+ to became teacher assistance. he is nice as personalty. but teaching way it's no way. do not even thinking to take has class

He is very rude and sarcastic, when you ask him a question he just runs in circles and doesn't give you a clear answer. It seems as if his goal is to belittle his students. I can't believe Iona let him teach here.

Does not explain things well. Laughs at questions you have about problems and makes fun of you when you don't know an answer. Does not like to tell you what is on the tests, and does not show you how to use the calculator. Jumps into new topics and doesn't like to write out or explain formulas. Would never recommend. Honestly the worst teacher.

He's a very unorganized person. He randomly starts lectures without anyone knowing what he's doing. He just jumps from subject to subject and confuses students. I would never recommend to take him, you will end up failing or dropping the course. He also literally class his student stupid for not understating him. Very horrible teacher.

Worst teacher ever. I'd never heard of rate my professor before taking him, so I was screwed. He's sarcastic and doesn't teach correctly. Answers questions with questions and doesn't care if you understand or not. The whole class is based off of his own textbook, meaning whatever he says goes and that's it. Please DO NOT take this class.

Since August 23 I knew since day 1 it was not goin to work. I never met a guy who's been more rude and uncaring. He says one thing and nobody ever understands. Then when we try to tell him our way, it's wrong automaticlly. Il take this course again, but never with him.

Definitely one of the worst professors I've ever had. Off topic, sarcastic, rude, and doesn't answer the questions you have. Repetitive criticism , and not even a specific grading policy. Office hours were worthless.

The professor seems to be quite familiar with the most aspects of the course. Explanations are vague, no homework aside from two assignments due at the end of the semester, and tests are extremely hard to finish within the allotted amount of time(52 minutes in this case). The course is both unclear and unorganized. Long story short; he sucks.

Not a very good teacher. Although statistics is not a hard subject to grasp, this professor makes it difficult. Doesn't explain things and can be very sarcastic. Do not take this professor if you don't have to.

Wow. Just terrible. Very similar to other comments on him so I'll keep it short. Basically, i asked a question on a new subject and he called me dumb and said i wasnt paying attention. When the rest of the class defended me he said we all should just drop the class because we're not smart enough to handle it. Save yourself the trouble.

I took pre-cal in high school and got an A, actually considered being a math major, but his tests were impossible to pass, he made the easiest topics so confusing. He was constantly saying "its not about the right answer" but apparently i had the wrong answers on every test. He offered no help and was only nice when he wasn't talking about math.

Ended up withdrawing from this class because he was a very hard grader and did not know how to properly teach an easy level of math.

Had him first semester, freshman year. I took calc in a prestigious high school and received an a. I come in taking pre calc thinking it would be a breeze. You have to do everything his way, or else he marks it wrong. During the first three weeks a handful of students withdrawaled.
