He is very sarchastic. If asked for help, he pops an attitude. I do not reccomend him for any subject.
This guy sucks as an instructor. HE reviews for like 2 mins before class is over and expects everybody to get an A on his tests. He has a very bad attitude and is very unhelpful. He seem very cocky when he is giving a lecture. Definately don't take this guy for anything.
I think he is a very good teacher, but can definitely be misunderstood. If you work hard and he sees that, your hard work will not go unnoticed. It's just that sometimes people don't like to work, and they expect A's. I think students really need to cut him some slack.I would recommend this teacher to students who aren't slackers;serious students.
His intent is to teach well. If you're willing to work, you'll get what is deserved. For those unwilling to work, you'll get what you deserve also. Lecture provides as much written material as possible to assist in learning. Lab - not very structured, not as attentive at ensuring students complete activities. Working on becoming a caring ins.
A good instructor who's intentions are help the students succeed. he pops an attitude at students who have all the excuses for not being in class or not doing the assignments.Which is fair for those who are trying. I found him approachable and willing to help me in his own time. Would take another course with him.
Major attitude! very cocky and expect students to know material or he gives attitude. I recommend you take another professor if u cant stand a man with attitude; it will bug the heck out of you!!
He was an ok prfessor. His notes were clear, and had most of the stuff that was going to be on the test.

Major attitude. I recommend you to take another professor.
Boring lectures but easy tests. He reviews and just takes good notes and you should be fine. dont slack!
very stuck up dude. i guess he forgot when he used to be a student in college and how tough it was . bad attitude. and please dont ask for help because all you will get is attitude!!!
If you pay attention, very easy class. He is very aggrogant and does not like to be asked questions. When you ask him a question, he will give you a sarcastic answer. However, he explains the material in such easy terms that you shouldn't have to ask any questions.

He doesn't even teach. He just expects you to do it on your own. I understand that this is college, but why even hire him to intruct the class? We'd all do better if we were just given the assignments and told flat out to do it on our own. He has class favorites and guess what...if you're not one, boo hoo for you!!! I DO NOT recommend him to A
HE COMES OFF AS A HARDBALL BUT ITS JUST HIS PERSONALITY. HE REALLY EXPLAINS THE MATERIAL WELL AND WANTS YOU TO DO WELL.HIS LECTURES ARE CLEAR AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE WANTS FROM YOU. LABS ARE AT YOUR OWN PACE AND HE WILL ASSIST YOU IF YOU SHOW THAT YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO LEARN THE MATERIAL. NOT A BAD GUY, JUST PUT FORTH EFFORT. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM
He explains the material over and over and he reviews you before the quizzes and before tests. What more could you want in a profesor!
Easy class if you do the work! He gives great reviews before tests and also provides you with notes so you don't have to sit there and write down everything he explains. He might not have the best bed side manners but definately a great teacher for someone who doesn't have much A&P background.
Yes he does come off with a cocky attitude, but honestly ya'll, he isn't really like that. He just knows his stuff. If you get to know him, he's actually pretty funny. Yes the class is hard, but it's anatomy! He gives awesome notes and reviews, though, and will give you the essay questions for the test before hand. I recommend taking his course.
You are on your own during his classes. Might as well take an internet course.
He does seem to have attitude; however he does provide good notes. Also he reviews what will be coverd on tests and gives essay questions to prepare for. He doesn't seem willing to help, but you can pass the class if you study the notes given and read the book. I would take his class again and would recommend him, don't slack off though.
Bad teacher. Do Not take him if you want to learn.
Bad teacher. Do Not take him if you want to learn.
Comes across as unapproachable however if he sees that you take the class seriously he's there for you. He's not going to baby you. Highly intelligent professor.
I was very disappointed in this class. When you ask a question he makes you feel as if you are the dumbest person on earth. He never remembers your name and towards the end of class he rushes and gives you like 3-4 test within a 2 week period. On top of that he is ALWAYS late. If you want to learn DO NOT take him.
Dont waste your good time on this sorry excuse for a college professor. He is so arrogant and hates teaching.save yourself a semester of aggrevation and take WILKINS anybody but him will do.
He really does review everything you need to know for the test practically everything on the tests are from his lectures or online notes. 4 exams (multiple choice and 2-3 essays) 3 practicals and 1 research paper (like 4-5 pp) and a final. If take the time to study the notes and show up to class its easy, but if you slack off you'll fall behind.
Class 187 Biol 2401 has been great. I don't know why anyone would say he sucks. He gives reviews for every test, bonus points & even partial credit! He even has pre-typed notes so you don't have to take any in class. What more can you ask for?
Section 187. At first I thought he was mean but that's how a lot of professors at first. Just give him a chance. He can be a smarty pants but don't let that stop you from taking his class. He is a good professor.
class sec 187 ..leal is very knowledgeable in what he teaches. He writes very good notes , goes over all the material over the exams and quizes. His class is a challenge and you shouldnt slack off, but you will learn more than you ever expected. Bad reviews about leal are from people who dropped and are failures in life ;)
Bio 2401-187 Great teacher! (hard subject) this guy gets it done, hes the type that will go over and over the material until its stuck in ur brain. he provides crystal clear notes and reviews very well. he makes human anatomy as easy as it can be. if u cant pass his class then ur just lazy and should just drop out. WISH HE Teached 2402!!
187- Great teacher! very clear on what is needed throughout the course. Give plenty of notes that you can print out. attend class and constantly review notes and you should have no problem.
At first the professor can be a little intimidating but I think it's just a scare tactic to see who has what it takes to stick with the course! If you're not a quitter, do what you're supposed to do and DON'T WHINE!!!, Mr. Leal can be your biggest ally! I recommend him as a professor. You will learn something in his class!!!
I really enjoyed his class. It felt like a real college course. He really made you work for your grade. He gave you all the necessary information you just had to be dedicated to the class and not slack off.
patient and understanding i would take him again and highly refer him to others
Very informative and professional. Would definately select him again if needed.
He is a very good teacher kind of intmidating but over all the class was always good lecture and i learned alot this semester
This guy knows everything and is extremely helpful when it comes to test reviews. Although sometimes he comes off as cold, he really isn't, I don't understand why everyone hates on this guy. I took Mr. Leal for both parts of A&P and did good, he's one of the best teachers I've had so far.
this guy favors men over women in his class dont listen to the good reviews trust me he put his male students up to it.
Mr leal is so pathetic he is writing good reviews about himself. what a sorry excuse for a professor. TAKE WILKINS for A&P!!!!! the good reviews written here are by leal himself not the students, trust me i know this guy.
this guy use to teach at utsa, then was let go because he had low student evaluation scores, then PAC picked him out of the garbage. one mans trash is....well another mans trash. PLEASE take someone else, you will be better off.
class was ok but if you really want to learn dont take him.
Prof.Leal is highly intelligent and knows everything about Anatomy. He lectures over his material at a steady pace and equips his students with excellent study guides. He is always willing to help out students who take his class seriously.Prof.Leal may seem unapproachable but once you talk to him you'll see hes a nice guy willing to help you succeed
I read these reviews before taking him during the summer and I was worried, but now that I completed it with an A, it's not bad AT ALL. He only lectures on exactly what you need to know and is very thorough. Can seem cold, but I worry more about quality that personality. I learned a great deal. Favorite class so far.
I took Mr Leal for both parts of A&P and although he is a tad bit arrogant, he is very knowlegeable in the subject. He has a Masters degree in Bio and his intelligence shows. Notes for every chapter are on the website, he gives bonus questions, and even takes the time to type exam reviews out for every exam, even final.
Very hard teacher. Expects for you to know the material already. He is young but knows his stuff. He overteaches and you can get lost easily. Boring
Pass on this guy he is horrible.
He is definately not easy! If you like to learn by reading and can teach yourself, then it's not to bad. Don't take him if you expect to really be taught... it's more memorization that learning.
He is not that bad of a teacher, goes through the chapters really fast, so take notes when ever he is lecturing. Kind of a goofy guy, shows that he has favoritism in the people that really want to do good in his class. He is really smart and knows what he is talking about. Although he can be quite blunt at times, for the most part he is a cool guy
He absolutely is the a HORRIBLE teacher if you like to teach yourself then take him. I ask for help and he gets frustrated and acts like we should know the stuff! DO NOT TAKE HIM! There are better professors! He definitely has his favorites.
Reads from a powerpoint, not very organized. Doesn't really teach. He is very knowledgeable but doesn't know how to teach what he knows.
I took Mr. Leal for both A&P classes. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher to take! Out of all the A&P teachers he is by far the easiest! He gives you access to the reviews for each exam along with the final. He has even gone over questions from the test that way we know exactly what to study. I would take him!
Went to ask him if he was willing to give additional help if I did not understand , he was totally rude from the start, very mean and disrespectful DONT TAKE.
Prof. Leal came across as rude at first but once you got to know him a little better he wasn't a bad teacher, the only thing is that you have to work for your grade. If you take his class seriously, do all the hw, and study you will pass. Truthfully he makes it easy by providing reviews and notes.
Agreed Mr. Leal is rude and condescending. He starts off saying how strict he is and always lets off - always changes what he says. He's not very organized; when he lectures it seems like it's the first time he's reading the ppt since the previous year. The only good thing is he always gives opportunities to make things up even though he says won't
This class is extremely self taught. Im not kidding. I made an A through my own hard work, never paid attention to lectures. He does review for exams and practicals which are super helpful.
Leal is a cool and funny dude. There's really no reason you should fail his A&P course unless you put no effort towards it. He gives excellent exam reviews, he basically tells u all u need to know for his exams, labs are tough. He is the best A&P teacher at PAC. I will definitely take his class for A&P part two. Take him and you won't regret it.
I never felt comfortable going to him for extra help outside of class , but on the plus side,HE GIVES TAKE HOME LECTURE QUIZZES which is a big help. He has very good test reviews and reviews for lecture test in class. He doesn't skip anything or go over anything that wont be on the test. He also tries to review lab material for lab practicals!
Asked if I was able to pass the class he responded well you tell me . He didn't give extra credit . He was very rude and careless.
Professor Leal is a great teacher. Biology 02 was challenging but professor Leal made it fun and interesting with many examples and his slide show presentation. The practicals were not easy but if you give yourself enough time you can get a decent grade. Do the chapter reviews and study. Overall professor Leal is an awesome teacher.
Amazing lecture notes & power points. He focuses on concepts instead of little details. His reviews before exams are the BEST!!
Took both A&P courses with Mr Leal and now in nursing school for BSN. Seriously, this is an amazing professor & students that want to succeed should take his courses. I am so much more prepared in nursing because I took his classes for my prerequisites. A&P is important for nursing! Mr Leal makes learning challenging but that's what makes it great!
Mr Leal is AMAZING at what he does. Take home quizzes every week, online quizzes every week and also notes. He gives test every other week which all are multiple choice and have an essay. His practicals for lab are the hardest so make studying a MUST. He gives no extra credit. If you miss one class you're done really. All assignments are online.
Professor Leal is an excellent professor, he's very clear on what you have to retain and what you don't. Although he's fast at his lectures, he's very thorough so just record. Yes, he's rude sometimes, but only if he has to repeat himself and if you aren't paying attention to him during lecture and/or lab. Don't take everything so serious guys.
Took A&P 2401 and 2402 with Mr. Leal in the Summer. He is a good teacher and gives good reviews for the exams. do the exam reviews, record him going over it and study the quizzes. It really helps. This class is overall hard but it all matters on how much an effort you put in it. Cant blame the teacher since it's all about studying a lot.
Lectures were great & he does give you reviews for your exams and goes over the review. Definitely need to do A LOT of studying. But of course that's something to be expected. Also, gives extra credit for your Lab exam but that's done in the science lab. Overall great professor and look forward to taking him in A&P 2.
A&P I & II. Best decision ever. It's a ton of work, not difficult though. Mostly definitions and labeling images from the textbook. He follows his syllabus strictly. Don't stress too much about the practicals because the exams are what count the most. Stay on top of your weekly lab folders (it's a ton of work) and online quizzes and you'll be fine!
If you are a parent and have kids that go to school and cant make it to class due to your kids being off for holidays etc he is not sympathetic and could care less and will you give you zeros that he will NOT let you make up what so ever. His perspective is if you don't show up to class its your fault it does'nt matter if you have an outside life.
Show up and turn in work on time and study
If you want an enthusiastic professor, who explains things in detail and helps you to do better DO NOT take his class, I repeat DO NOT take it! He is rude and always sarcastic, it is visible that he hates to teach, I don't understand why he teaches if he clearly doesn't enjoy it, probably an online class would be the same as having him as a tecaher
do reviews thoroughly. Really likes when people participate. Essays are given in advance, and always extra credit in tests. In 2402 he used slideshows which helped a lot but goes too fast for notes. Reading textbook helps/youtube. Cons: seems impatient/sarcastic- don't let it stop you from participating. Online quiz questions aren't great.
hes a horrible teacher do not take
Dont take him as a professor. His online quizzes are long with a short amount of time to take them and when he goes through his lectures they are super fast. He doesnt seem like he cares for teaching.
Mr. Leal is very picky seems condescending at times but quickly plays it down. He takes row, late to class sometimes. Provides a detailed process and explains a lot. does give reviews prior to the test. If you want to pass this class you really need to read the chapter before class. Do not take this class if another professor; very confusing.
Mr. Leal is a very good and very caring all he cares about is you passing the class, his lectures are quite brief and to the point and he' hilarious sometimes. Make sure you "memorize" all lab practicals they are a little challenging but if you fall behind he will help you.
He's a really good Instructor, very hilarious all he cares about is passing his students, Lectures are long but simple, Exams are easy if you study for it, the only difficult thing is the Practicals you have to memorize every worksheet given to you, I really recommend him
He doesn't care about your education he only cares about getting paid. I told him I had computer issues he didn't care.
He is a hard teacher to like. If you are not a favorite then he does not really talk to you. You have about 3-4 things to do for this class every week. He will NOT let you redo a test or have late work so be on top of your stuff. Quizlet will NOT help you. You need to read and study a lot. Only grades by quizzes, tests, lab worksheet, and exams.
Online class due to COVID, stopped recording his zoom meetings after the second week because too many people weren't showing up apparently. When answering questions if you were wrong he'd breeze over you or ignore you. Rude with his tone and snappy if he is frustrated. Late to start class multiple times, no retakes, didn't care why you missed class
His way of teaching is dry and doesnt know how to get a class engaged. One that Ive found helpful is he offers good examples. Hes not very professional, he gives lots of sarcastic and snarky remarks and calls on you if you yawn. The only way I got him off my back is to be sarcastic in return.
Professor Leal is one of the best professors I have ever had. Lectures help if you do go. He gives you EVERYTHING u need to know for his exams & pass the course. If you don't pass, its because you didn't study. He gives you a summary of each chapter online, review online for the exam & also goes over the exam review in class on top of lecturing.
A&P is a lot of information in general, so I think he does well at explaining what is important to study and know. I would encourage attendance Provides lots of ways to study; via book, slideshow, videos and notes. Extra credit is sometimes given. He can be a little sarcastic, but he means well. (Don't be sensitive.)
Very rude. Can't ask for help without getting Judged.
Very difficult to work with! You are graded on a few things. Does not give extra credit and is often very rude when you ask for help. Also thinks the pandemic is fake as well as disrespectful to students who wear masks. You have been warned.
I thought he was great! The course is a lot of work but it's expected from a science course. He explains things very well so that you can grasp main points and pass exams. However, it is up to you to put in the work if you want the A. Be prepared for his sarcastic sense of humor; it's not meant to offend anyone, it's just how he is but he does care
Took classes in summer. Lectures were almost every day had lecture exams every week on Thursdays. Labs were every Monday. Attendance was mandatory to not miss out on any information needed. He always reviewed Wednesdays with exact things that are on the test for Thursday's. You need to study to pass
I took A&P2 in the summer over 5 weeks. It was A LOT of material, but if you pay attention during lectures and study, you'll be fine. Professor Leal is very good at breaking things down so they're easy to understand. He is HILARIOUS!!! I think some people can't tell he's joking. He's actually very caring, even tho he tries not to seem that way lol
Anatomy class is heavy not matter the proffesor you choose. Mr. Leal was really good with his lecture class and conversation. All of lecture was applied to lab . Make sure you read your book and do your lab hwk. Everything is credit so do not miss anything. If you put the effort you will pass. We have extra credit for every test.
All i'm saying is be prepared to teach yourself the material. Attendance is mandatory! Lab practical material does not match what's given for studying. Majority of the class received grades of as low as 11's. Anatomy is already difficult, don't make your life more difficult. You need extra help or have a question? be prepared to feel d*mb.
