He's funny and cool --no attendance policy
We just love watching his body!
Easy teacher, cool guy as well.
certainly knows his information and keeps class intersting. i would suggest you go to class becuase he will tell you everything you need to know for tests. although he allows missing class, that means you have to read carefully.
Uses same tests every year, and tells you the first day to just get them from someone who has already taken him! No attendance policy. Easy A!
Nice and funny. THe class is easy if you go, but you dont have to.
great class!!! very funny and entertaining!! my favorite class!
he's interesting...very funny. lectures are pretty entertaining and tests are easy. never have to come to class, but if you have nothing to do makes for great entertainment.
Never go to class and make an A. It does not get any better than that.
great instructor, take his class and u will get a A. very easy and fun when u go to class
Easy A. Dont have to go to class but its fun when you do. Doesn't get better. Very laid back.
LOVE FOR BACKSWEAT=GOOD TIME IN ROB'S CLASS
Has a strict attendance policy now! =( But going to class isn't bad and the tests are fairly easy. Take notes and go to class and it's an easy A.
very easy. Doesn't want to be there just as much as you. Does have attendance policy now. same tests from last year and probably year before that. very funny and loves to pick and joke. Take him!
Doesnt care about class really. Really sarcastic and easy to get along. Easy A
Very easy class, his playful attitude helps to understand the material.
as nice as he may be, his tests and attendence policy killed me! the tests are definately not easy. if you can make yourself study significantly and attend class, you should be fine, but its not an 'easy A' class. he's laid-back and quite attractive,
not an easy A anymore... test are hard unless you are a music major...attendance policy kills everyone...3 pts off final grade for EVERY missed class
tests are fairly easy if you study your notes...Attendence policy does suck..Every absence 3pts off your grade...Concert programs is the way to make it up though...Loved teh class
so i took him to get an easy A but ended up with a C+ despite making B's on all the tests....cool guy, but make sure you're clear about his new ridiculous attendance policy-basically DON'T MISS CLASS or you'll get 9 points off your average like i did...
when i had him, no attendance policy and when eight people showed up, he just called class off. hilarious, sarcastic, i had the hugest crush. relatively easy and flexible. go to the concerts!!!
Easy, funny, cool, laid back. Easy tests. Just don't miss class; you get points off. Must attend 4 concerts, or get a bad grade. Fun, interesting, easy class. Has a great, dark sense of humor. You can tell he's only teaching for the $, tho he is good at it. Highly recommended if u need an easyA
You cant not love this guy. takes his subject seriously but makes the class easy and fun. Go to class. listen to the music. get an easy A
Lewis is a pretty easy-going teacher. Takes attendance every class, have to see 4 concerts (or more for extra credit), and 4 tests. The tests are pretty easy...just take good notes in class and listen to the cd's and you'll do fine.
He's a good guy, tells some random stories, get's right to the point on what you ACTUALLY need to know, gives study guides for the 4 tests, need to go to 4 concerts...is letting us take our final on the last day of class!! Don't take Music App. unless you get him!! Cool guy ask about his new mini van
This guy is horrible...returns tests 3 weeks after you take them....absolutly rediculous attendence policy...very unorganized
He was great. Always told us funny stories in class, but he did just start an attendance policy so you have to go now, but b4 that he could have cared less. No Final . .very layed back .. I would highly recommend taking him if you want an easy A
honestly, the worst teacher i've ever had, on account on how much he cares OR DOESN'T about his students. He may be an ok guy but he doesnt care about teaching. It is easy to see how much he hates his job. I would not recommend him to anyone, ever, for any course. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
boring class, prof has dry humor and is not very clear, a few unexpected days off, all mc tests, good EC policy
made an A on every test, went to every concert, missed six classes (i'll be the first to admit that was a lot)..and got a D---helpful teacher?...no not really..but bitter???hmmm
No Comments
Had no attendance policy, was slack and funny, gave all MC tests, gave ample opprotunity for extra credit, overall he was an awesome professor and I would recommend him to anyone that is thinking about taking music appreciation. Also, he sometimes brings his daughter to class and she's so cute!! He's a good professor, so take him!!
take him!! no attendance, study guides for tests, extra credit, all mult choice tests, no writing involved...funny but disorganized
super funny and laid back guy...no attendance policy but if you go to class if makes the tests way easier and you dont ever have to read the text. take Professor Lewis for an easy A.
Easy A! Not required to come to class. There is no homework and no quizzes. Grade is based on 4 tests. Last test is not cumulative. This class is a GPA boost if you come to class and just take notes.
Cool as hell. This class is an easy A if you take notes and come to class. Study guides, extra credit, only 4 tests. Easy as hell. Take it you'll pass.
no attendence policy, but you have to come to class to get the notes and know what songs to listen to for the test...gives everything to you though, and provides a study guide and test are not tricky just straightforward...very easy A
Awesome teacher. No attendance policy. Very easy going and knowledgeable about music. I didn't have to buy the book or even the CDs, I just came to class, listened and got an A.
The class is a little harder now because he had given out to many A's. i think somebody got a 42 on the first test. An A is still possible in the class, although its no longer the easiest course ever.
class is a lil hard but still not impossible. really helpful teacher will do anything he could do to help u. class gets boring at times...
Really cool guy...class in my opinion was much harder than it ought to be but still wasn't too bad. If you go to class and take notes his tests are off his lectures 98% if the time. Really fair as far as grading goes.
He is AWESOME. This class is not hard as long as you go and take notes. No attendance policy. He also lets you argue the test answers. We got about 6 points back on every test after arguing the questions. Hes the best and hes helarious. TAKE HIM
cool guy, really good sense of humor. he knows that most are only there for humanities requirement, so he tries to make it as painless as he can. no attendance policy, just make sure you know someone to get the notes from for the tests. most material is straight from book. I skimmed notes and book the day of the test and got an A
Very funny teacher, in a lame way. =P But it makes his class fun and interesting for the most part. However, if you have Music Appreciation come prepared with asprin. Some of the music involves screeching and pots & pans dropping.
He decided to make his class "harder" this semester, so tests are all short answer instead of scantron, but its still not incredibly hard. Just follow the study guide he gives you and KNOW the songs for a listening portion on the test. Class is not manditory, but def. helpful. There is no final, but you have to go to 4 musical concerts.
This site is not at all a reflection of him. Word is he switched up his curriculum. His tests are impossible and he knows it. He will tell you that if you take the notes you wont have to read the book, which is a total lie. He also calls out kids and makes fun of them
Nice guy, tests are just matching. Take notes, maybe reference the book to clarify. Gives a study guide that is true to the test. Class is a bit boring but mainly because of the music. I would take this teacher.
Very easy. Lewis is funny and helpful. No attendance. Gives a study guide and then attaches it to a fill in the blank test. Take notes in class and maybe reference book for clarification. Highly recommend, especially if its for a gen ed requirement.
Attendance is not mandatory, which is great!! But, he mostly tests on his notes, so unless you have someone who can get you the notes, you should go to class. The listening portion of the tests are easy, you just have to know like the first 15 seconds of the songs. And you have to go to 4 concerts (that really means just get 4 programs)! TAKE HIM!!
No attendance policy. His tests are from the notes though. Directly from the notes. He gives you a study guide for the test, and will give you a blank copy of that for the actual test, so some of it is kind of like matching. He is a funny guy and makes a lot of jokes. It was a good class and I'm glad I took it
Awesome teacher and saxophonist
Enjoyed this easy humanity credit class. GO TO CLASS and take notes. No need to buy the book, just the CD's. 4 tests that he gives you a study guide for. Blank study guide given with test so you can match and spell correctly. Tests are fill in the blank. Songs you only need to know first 15 seconds. Easy. No attendance, skip class but get notes!
Makes this class hard for no reason. Is not enthusiastic and his tests are not what hemakes them out to be. Don't take this class.
Tests are very easy, as long as you attend class. He gives you a word bank and a study guide before hand. Class is quite fun, and he is a hilarious guy. If you miss a test, he lets you make it up during his office hours. You need to learn some songs, and attend three concerts. Awesome teacher. Doesn't take attendance. No textbook.
Lewis is super chill and laid back. His lectures normally wouldn't last the full 50 minutes, and he made the lectures entertaining. Book isn't necessary- only the online CD for the songs. (Or you could look them up on YouTube). Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want a good grade go to class! 4 tests and one 2 page essay. GET HIM IF YOU CAN!
He's so nice and willing to help if you ever need it (which you most likely want because this course is a breeze). Most professors tend to make the class hard because they know it's a humanities, but he makes it as painless as possible. Tests come straight form the study guide, which he gives a blank copy of before the exam to use as a word bank.
Honestly, this guy is the man. Never had any interest in music other than just listening to contemporary stuff but really enjoyed the class and him. Its super easy, not, mandatory. Gives study guides that are identical to the test and only have to go to like 4 music concerts. Highly recommend, easy A.
The easiest A that exists at CofC. He's super laid back in class and in grading. The 4 tests are fill-in-the-blank and matching the song to the listening. Take notes and you should be good in his lectures. Don't buy the book. There's a super easy paper. You have to go to some concerts.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't get the notes you're screwed for the tests. Otherwise, the class is a breeze.
Probably the most chill professor I've ever had. The 4 tests are really easy and the 1 paper is also easy. He gives lots of extra credit opportunity, after you go to your 4 mandatory concerts you can go to up to 6 more for extra credit. Atrendance isn't mandatory but unfortunately he doesn't know what oaks is. LOL
I would not take another class from him... Too hard. Its supposed to be an easier course to get a credit and it wasn't easy at all. If you aren't musically inclined this is not the easy A class for you.
This class is straight forward - 4 tests, 1 paper, and concert attendance. Tests are fill in the blank/listening and he sends out a study guide before each with specifics of what will be covered. Paper is easy and outlined clearly as well. Going to class/getting the notes is a must since that's what the tests are based on. Really funny guy.
If your looking to boost your GPA or to take an easy class, this is pretty much the class to take. Just show up and take notes, go to four concerts, one essay which you receive an automatic A (not even kidding)and tons of music to listen to. 4 test and no final. The test is fill in the blank with a word bank, and guessing the piece.
Gives study guide of exactly whats on the exams. Exams are not cumulative. No homework. Attendance is not mandatory but do have to attend at least four musical concerts. Super laid back professor and would take again. Easy A
this man is wonderful. you don't have to show up to class and still pass with an easy A. he cracks jokes which is nice but the lectures put me to sleep because they were done in a dark room. would take again because of how easy it was
If you need an easy course, take this one hands down. We have weekly quizzes, but you can take them as many times as to get a 100%. Midterm and Final are very easy because it all the questions from the quizzes. You do have to attend two music concerts and write a paragraph about it. Then we had to write a paper but it is very easy.
Professor Lewis class was super easy especially for the humanities credit. You take quizzes that's it, he does offer lectures if you are interested but I never went and still passed the class. He does have a few assignments outside of the quiz but they are easy to do, expect when you have to go to concerts that are classical. Keep an eye out!
Taking music appreciation with him and it is a breeze. Every quiz is unlimited until you get 100%. Also the midterm and final exams are online. He is a bit scary sometimes when he starts to call on you but that is very rare. If you need a humanities credit take this class with him! So so so easy as someone who knows nothing about music
Lewis was awesome, the most laid-back professor I've had by far. He lectures for those interested but you don't have to go. Quizzes are weekly but you're given unlimited attempts to get a 100. There were a few assignments that he gave other than quizzes but are quick and easy, and you have to attend two concerts, easy. Take him!
i went to class a total of 5 times. I got an A. Hes so nice & really funny and even if you never go to class (attendance was not mandatory), he still knew you. He said he didnt want kids in class who didnt want to be there. All the homework/quizzes are due the last day of class & you can try until 100%. Take him for an easy humanities credit.
I've never been more annoyed by a class in my life. Took this because it was supposed to be an easy A but it is now my worst grade and severely impacting my GPA despite being in very hard business classes on top of it. Tests are near impossible if you don't pay attention every second of class and it's all fill in the blank. DO NOT TAKE.
You must pay attention every single second of this class or else you will fail.
All tests are on paper only; just fill in the blank. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't go and don't listen to every second of his boring lectures, you will FAIL. He does not use slides or exact definitions for terms, so it's up to your interpretation. Worst class ever. Do NOT take it if you want an easy class.
I had to withdrawal from this class because the only grades are 4 tests in the semester, if you dont go to every class and listen to everything he says, you will fail. The tests are paper only and he doesnt give a real study guide/answers for the questions. The only extra credit is to go to 10 extra concerts on top of the 2 that are mandatory.
This class was just not passable if you did not go to class and listen to absolutely every second. I studied so hard for every test but still failed them all. He just puts random definitions different then what he tells you or what you can find online. very hard to learn and enjoy.
I really enjoyed this class and Professor Lewis. It was very interesting and an easy humanities credit. Professor Lewis is super laid back and knowledgeable about music. You know exactly what to expect on every exam (he does review and gives a study guide). No homework but you have to go to 2 concerts. I would definitely recommend this class.
Great prof with sense of humor. basically a music history class. Tests(4) are now in person. 2 concerts and easy 3 pg paper.minimal work Always willing to go over material. Go to class, don't buy book. musical background not needed to succeed but helps. negative reviews are because he made tests in person so you have to try. Easy class if you try.
Do not take this class if you want to memorize 15 classical music songs, their names, and every single thing about the composers. Test are on paper and are extremely challenging for an entry level class. He was a nice guy but he thinks everyone is a music major. You also have to be very detailed with your notes/studying or you'll fail.
This class only has 4 tests in person, on paper. It is really hard. My friend is a music major and knows all tgis information and still had a hard time in this class. Tests are mostly vocab, and he wordsd the questions weirdly. Nice guy who cares about what he's doing, but if you want an easy class, trust me THIS IS NOT THE ONE,
He is a great professor, there is only 4 major tests (all the same format which is matching and the last test is the final), you do have to attend 2 concerts for attendance grade but its not that bad just go with friends!
This class was great overall. It was really easy and there are only 4 tests, 2 concerts, and then a short paper. The professor is really funny and is great at lectures. However, you have to show up because he doesn't do online notes, the tests are based off of his in class lecture. Overall, super easy and totally recommend.
All you have to do is come to class, pay attention, study the day before the exam, and you will do well. Prof Lewis is funny and makes lectures fun. Often times, will deliberately tell you what is going to be on the exam while lecturing so that you don't miss writing it down.
Great professor!!! Really nice guy also very funny. The class is super easy if you go to class, take good notes, and study a little. Its also very interesting stuff so you might as well just go to class. Overall great!
