He his not helpful especially on homework don't bother going to the office to ask a question will tell you he won't tell you anything except to look it up.

Loveland is a smart man the problem is how this class is set up; he speeds through the material then does not help students who do not understand. He will not answer ANY homework questions you must refer to your notes. Recommend: Skip this class if you want to keep your GPA

Just Reads from his powerpoint slides mostly based on the text book. Teaches nothing new. Not very passionate about teaching or if the students are doing well. Learnt nothing from this professor. Tough grader

It is really hard. It's not cumulative which is good. For me he is not a really good teacher. The problems on the test were really hard for me to understand like I study for the test but still didn't pass. It's not curved. The average for my class on the first midterm was 75 the second was 69 and final is 61. All I can say is study hard!

Very difficult instructor. Tests are essentially your entire grade so if you don't do well on one test you're screwed. Doesn't post any study guides or lecture notes online so you have to attend every lecture. Very bad at preparing students for the difficult exams. Math problems can be up to a paragraph long with multiple steps. Don't recommend him

2 tests and 2 group hw assignments. There is a lot of difficult content especially in the second half of the quarter. Usually 4 questions on each test, so you can easily fail. No extra credit. There is SO much content covered and have no idea what will end up on the test. No study guide or basic idea of what to prep for.

Teacher was not helpful. Any questions about homework problems will be answered with a question, not a solution. Toxic learning environment. His goal is to find cheaters not educating his students or helping them excel. Two midterms grades with a class average in the low 60's.

Do not take this teacher. If you want to learn financial modeling, pay for BIWS. You'll actually get much better support than this teacher. He assigns homework which are way beyond the scope of the entire class and expects you to figure it out with no help. Take a different finance class to fulfill your graduate requirements.

All I can say is Robert Loveland showed no love toward his students.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Exams and HW weighted way too highly, if you do bad on one hw assignment you go down a whole letter grade. don't do bad on a test they're worth 30% of your grade otherwise you'll fail. (barely anybody does, class average often in the low 60's)

Very unethical professor. He asks extra things on exams which he does not teach in class. He is very rude too. University should take action against this professor for being rude to students and for being unethical. He makes classwork seem easy, but his exams are extremely hard. I would rate this professor 0 if it would be possible.

Does not teach material on the test is very rude and class is super test based. 3 tests which are 25+% of your grade and 3 homeworks that are 7% each. I would not recommend this teacher unless you want to learn information that is irrelevant to the material on the test.

Without a question, one of the quickest bait and switch teachers. You think you are studying for a typical class and then you get the test. It's not even remotely close to the depth of what you studied for. DO NOT take this professor for class. Its 100 memorization for 10 page in depth essay, formula test. Good luck.

Worst professor in the entire finance department at this university. This man needs to be fired promptly. Honestly do not know why he is still teaching. He will lecture on financial topics completely unrelated to the content on his exams. Refuses to curve anything, and expects the class to figure it out themselves. Enrolling is asking for trouble.

If I could rate this prof a zero I would. The course is based off excel problems, hw and exams. No leniency at all. If he is inconvenienced in any way, he gets defensive and rude. Everything is YOUR fault, no exceptions. Ignores emails, gives no feedback and very uncaring. Not sure how he's a professor but 100% needs to be fired.

This guy busted hella kids for cheating (his main objective) The class is easy, but he makes exams and hw so tricky for no reason. If you work together with someone, he finds out and reports u for cheating. he writes his own exams, and hes so petty to the point where some answers have to be ur own, if u work together, thats how he knows u cheated.

There is no love in the entire land of Robert Loveland's course. Easily the worst instructor in the entire university. Will not prepare you for homework assignments or exams. Refuses to even give out lecture materials critical for exam preparation. You are better off teaching yourself these concepts on YouTube than learning from him. Run far away.

The absolute worst professor I have ever had. He deleted all online study material a day before finals without any prior warning making it impossible to cram. This is on top of being a tough grader and mediocre in terms of conveying material.

DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS! The guy seems to relish in your pain and misery. As is, this class is difficult. Combine that with a professor that's completely aloof vs what really goes on in the real world of finance, his class is ridiculous. I addressed this with him as well being in a finance profession. Do not take Professor Loveland, he shows no interest in his students. He has 3 Hw assignments and 3 tests, the tests being 80% of your grade. It's a red flag if your tests consist 80% of the grade, also if the class average is an F on one of the midterms. His lectures will make you fall asleep and he shows no interest while answering questions.

Terrible professor, do not take his class. 80% of your grade consists of exams (3 exams), and the other 20% are assignments (3 assignments). The worst professor I have had at CSUEB, save yourself time, stress, and money and take someone else.

Do not take this prof! His lectures meander aimlessly, devoid of clarity or structure, leaving students more perplexed than enlightened. He seems indifferent to the very purpose of education, offering neither guidance nor encouragement, and dismissing inquiries with condescension rather than insight. His lack of interest in teaching is obvious!

His disdain for his students is unmistakable. Questions are met with either thinly veiled irritation or outright dismissal, as though inquiry itself were an affront to his authority. He refuses to teach at all, it is as if he believes his job ends the moment he hands out a syllabus, leaving students to navigate the subject matter alone.

Stay clear away from this professor. He absolutely does not teach and makes the test incredibly hard, so students won't be able to pass. I'm surprised as to why this university still hasn't fired this neurotic professor yet. You will learn nothing from his class and spend your time and money elsewhere. Simply, DO NOT TAKE!

Worst professor I have ever come across in my life. Absolutely shows no care for his students and everything is your fault. Keep in mind, this he doesn't even teach you and becomes extremely irritated if one asks him questions. He clearly works here only to get paid for doing nothing!

Simply the worst professor in the entire nation itself. Save yourselves time and money by taking another reasonable and more understanding professor like Prof. Fricke. Most arrogant professor I have ever come across. If he was successful in finance, why is he not working in wall street?As someone who has relatives who worked in top tier investment banking firms, this professor clearly lacks real world knowledge of finance and that reflects greatly in his exam questions. He asks unrelated extremely hard questions!

Refuses to teach concepts that will be tested on his HARD exams to the point class average is 40-50% if not lower. He derives great pleasure from seeing students be miserable and fail in his class.

Hands down the worst professor ever! Don't know how CSUEB is even entertaining him for so long. He doesn't even do his job which is teaching and promoting students to succeed. Instead, he doesn't teach and tests you on material which was never covered in his class. This guy gets a kick from watching his entire class struggle and fail miserably.

The most unethical professor out there. I unsure as to how the university hasn't fired this kind of a professor yet. Asks extra things on the exam which isn't even supposed to by in the finance course you are taking. Its almost as if you need to have a Phd in finance to pass his class. Extremely rude to many students too!

Do not take this professor. He has no motivation to teach his students and only cares about money. Thats the sole reason as to why he makes this class more difficult than it should be so you end up wasting your time and money. Take a better professor like Fricke if you can. Atleast, you can pass the course and learn at the same time!

Don't listen to the five star reviews. It's most likely written by Loveland himself or his PR team. He makes his exams extremely hard, barely passable. Worst decision I made taking this guy. His lectures were boring and did not prepare me for the exams. Majority of his class struggles and he makes his exams extremely tricky. He also rushes through several concepts and dislikes actually explaining any of the concepts he will test you on.

I would not recommend taking this course with Loveland. There are 3 homework and 3 tests and none of his tests align with his homework or what he teaches. I was thoroughly disappointed with this course overall. Beware of his exams.

I wouldn't recommend taking this guy. I learned nothing from his class and wasted time studying for exam that is impossible to pass. This is the most unconventional class I have been in. 3 home-works and 3 exams are what this class entails. The exams are 90% of your grade and have nothing in common with his lectures and his homework assignments. My advice is to avoid this professor if you can. It's a waste of your money. Take someone else who actually cares about their students.

This professor has no desire to teach whatsoever. I am baffled at how he is still allowed to teach at this institution. His entire curriculum is based on 3 exams which is extremely difficult to even pass.

I need this teacher fired right now!! There's only 3 assignments in the whole semester only worth 7% and the Exams are 27%...?? The exam questions don't even make sense and you have hour time limit to finish. If you take this class you are on your own and if you failed the test might as well drop the class cause you just failed the class.

Just a terrible old school professor with no helps or extra credit to let students try to win. You get one bad grade, forget about the remaining of the assignment or exam! You will stay on C. I'm a dean's list student and all my grades are A except with this guy, zero help and he is grading like its his life depends on it.

Professor is incredibly harsh with grading and doesn't want to help students out whatsoever.
