He goes so fast with the chapters. And all he does is reads off the power point. Then the questions on the test doesn't even go with the notes from class or the quiz online.
There is a lot of reading to do, however his online quizes can be taken up to three times each, with reveiw mode. It is pretty impossible not to get a 100 on every quiz. He really cares about if his students are understanding the material or not. Most of his test is based on the fundamentals of biology. For a biology class, it is pretty decent.
he goes through the power points very fast, and is very unclear about what is going to be on the test. quizzes are esay but only 15%of your overall grade.
Knows his stuff but teaches straight from PowerPoint. He pauses and says "uh" a lot which makes his lectures very dull. If you seek him out after class though he can be very helpful
Hes a "lecture" proffesor. Only need to study his ppt to pass test. All test are multiple choice but comprehensive. Great help during office hours as well. Easy pass!
I took Anatomy and Physiology I. The lectures can get a little boring and he does say "uh" a lot which is a little hard to deal with if you record the class. However, this was his first year lecturing so I would say he was a little rough around the edges but I think he has the potential to be a great professor. I would recommend his class.
He is adorable, and his lectures are decent, all the powerpoints are on angel and those are all you need for the tests. As far as everything is concerned, he is good professor to take.
Dr. Lowery is a good teacher. He tried to explain all the subject to the best of his capacity. You really have to study and put the time if you want to have a good grade. I recommend him for lecture and lab as well.
This guy loves Science so much that you would think he forgot he's teaching a class. Unless you are willing to put blood sweat and tears in this class, take him. Other then that I do not recommend
worst instructor ever, does not follow his word forgets, when the semester is about to end, cram his work and he did not drop the lowest test grade in our class. don't recommend him at all
The class itself is really hard, but he is a pretty good professor. I didn't do very good in this class but I liked him and would take him again. Quizzes are online and 15% of your grade, impossible not to get 100 on all of them. Four exams, a midterm, and a final and he drops the lowest.
Good professor, willing to help you and meet with you if you need it. This isn't a show up and get an A class.. it requires effort and actually studying. He was fair and made it clear what he expects of his students. If you are not lazy you should have no problem getting the grade you want.
Very good Professor, and very nice. He gives quizzes online (you get up to 5 tries so should always get 100%). 5 tests & 1 final (comprehensive) - he will drop the lowest score. Always willing to meet up & help explain anything. Only con is he says "uh" alot during his lectures so since it's a morning class it throws me off :)
Anatomy & Physiology is a difficult course so studying is a must. Dr. Lowery is always willing to meet with you if you have any questions. Quizzes are more by the book, tests are based mostly on his power points and points he discusses in class so it helps to have good attendance. Wish he taught A/P 2.
He isn't a good teacher and doesn't know what he is talking about have the time in lab he is useless and tells you how to do it wrong
HE IS REALLY FUN TO HEAR LECTURE, BUT HE BREAKS IT DOWN INTO LAMEN TERMS, SO BY THE TIME YOU'RE DOING SMARTBOOK AMD THE TEST, IT IS ALOT HARDER THAN HE MADE IT SOUND.
I thought Dr. Lowery did a great job with how he operated the classroom. He really tries to help out his students and if someone doesn't understand a topic he will try to explain it in different ways until it clicks. The tests are straightforward, just read the textbook and pay attention to the powerpoint. I will be taking him again in the future!
I took Biology with him and it was miserable. Don't expect anything on the powerpoint to be on the test, expect the opposite. Questions on the test weren't clear whatsoever. The only extra credit he offers is bonus questions that have to be a page long with works cited only for ONE point. Do NOT recommend him
Very confusing, gives wayyyy to much material that's not even on the tests. the study guides are bs because they have nothing to do with the test material. He honestly made bio stupid hard for no reason. DONT TAKE ! HE SUCKSSS !!!!!
He is a terrible teacher, his tests are extremely hard and aren't even on what you studied, he cant explain the lectures clearly and it was over all a very hard class I absolutely do not recommend!!
Professor Lowery lectures are fun but overwhelming. However, exams are ridiculously hard due to the way he words the questions not the mastery of content.Takes forever to post grades.Bonus questions are elaborate, tossed if deemed unworthy. No study guides.Hosts afew study groups but tells you oneday before or not at all and they dont help. UGH!
Biology is hard. Professor Lowery opened my mind to see the book in a new perspective. He invites EVERYONE to discuss concepts further in his office after class. I will admit his bonus questions are a bit wacky and I only turned in one and his tests are challenging. However, he's a brilliant man. Taking him again for A&P. Got an A.
He basically just puts up power points & lectures the whole class period. His tests were very unorganized(some ?s were duplicated, test was numbered wrong, etc.). Gives bonus questions, but is very picky about them. O & he also tries to cram all this stuff in at the end
Ended up being my favorite professor out of my six. Dr. Lowery is entertaining and knowledgeable. Slides are all online and he will repeat concepts for you. Got an A and I never used book. He makes Life Science interesting and provides tons of background information in addition to his slides. Absolutely recommended.
There is a lot of information covered in this course. If you're going to take it over summer, like I did, you may want to take it alone. Lowery is to the point. If you work hard, and don't slack off, you should get an A. Gave opportunities for extra credit. Seems like he really wants his students to do well and enjoys the topic.
This class contains a lot of information and is very interesting. Dr. Lowery breaks it down for you and makes it easier to understand. The tests are pretty simple as long as you review your notes from his lecture. He has a LOT of bonus questions that you are able to research and answer for extra points added to your total grade! I recommend him.
This class was tough. But after only doing OK on the 2nd test I went to Dr. Lowery's office and spoke with him. His insights into my difficulties were a big help, as well as his explanations. I will not tell you this is an easy A, but it is obtainable, if you work for it. He also gives extra credit to help boost your grade.
I took this class online and hated it. He is disorganized and takes days to respond to emails. Simple discussions only had prompts, no guidelines, so if you don't answer it his way, you don't do well. Tests were very hard compared to the powerpoints posted. On top of it, he was incredibly rude when I tried to speak to him in person about my grade.
Took Bio 2 over the summer. Which had an insane amount of vocab. That class itself was just difficult to take in only 6 weeks. Great prof though, really made it interesting. He was also willing to adapt the class to fit with our lab prof schedule so it was easier for us. Offer extra credit on a regular basis. Noneedto show for class, readBook
i feel people bash him a bit hard but i have not taken his online class but his lecture in my opinion is very good. He really tries his best to explain everything and is a pretty funny guy. super cool and nice and offers to meet in his office and gives extra credit for any missing assignments.
Dr. Lowery is a teacher that I would take again. Do all the extra credit that he tells you to do and do the connect work because that will really help your grade. Also I recommend you to study the power points because that's where he gets most of his questions for his tests. Good luck everyone! :D
One of the best teachers I've had. He is very clear with his lectures. The tests aren't to bad, if you listen to him, you will pass the class. Very funny dude and he isn't boring.
i loved this class! he has a unique and creative way to breaking stuff down and really helping his students understand everything. he is very organized and encourages questions. he is also hilarious! one of the best professors I've had throughout my college experience so far... not to mention he's smoking hot!
Mr. Lowery was a great teacher! Just had him this semester and I admired that he included the class in the lectures and made things fun by cracking jokes! He uses mostly powerpoints for the class but it helps to look in the book for tests. Hes upbeat and knows what hes talking about and is very willing to help a struggling student.
Dr. Lowery was an overall good professor. To prepare for his tests i mainly studied the power points and listened to him during lectures. He tries not to make his lectures boring, so it helps you pay attention. If you have questions he will gladly take the time to answer them. I found it very helpful to go to class, even though it's not mandatory.
I was initially nervous about this class but getting in the semester it actually became interesting. It helps to be in class for lecture definetly but his lectures are fun and he does his best to help you fully understand .
Professor Lowery is a very quick teacher with lectures that seem to drag on and attendance is mandatory. Multiple tests are given which are difficult. Expect homework.
All around he's a good professor. He can be strict on certain things and can be a tough grader. His tests are kinda hard and can sometimes be confusing and hard to understand, but if you study and prepare yourself for the tests the class can be an easy A. He is a very nice guy to go and talk to if you have questions.
I have him for Biology 2 lecture and he goes into detail so it's easy to understand all of the material and he literally gives out extra credit like candy. I hope he teaches a Chem class!
Super great teacher for gen bio 1. Makes his lectures funny and interesting. Plus, he gives extra credit. Would definitely take again.
A&P I - Tests are SEVERELY difficult. I studied hours for every exam and received 67, 67, 79, 37.... He wants the student to do well but is unclear on the material. I studied the wrong material and had other classmates say the same thing after every exam. I would definitely recommend a 2x week class if possible. Can be aggressive which put me off.
Horrible & rude! Yelled at me and short with other students when ask questions. Lectures are informative and can have some humor but tests don't match. Unorganized. I took notes, went to tutoring, and study groups and it never seemed like enough because his tests are poorly written and often don't have correct answers. He often seems overwhelmed.
I'm telling you now to go look for a different A&P teacher. Seriously, I'm saving you. I took him for A&P1 and I promise you I taught myself the entire semester....... "Study guides" are so ridiculously irrelevant it makes me want to cry. Echo's never ever ever worked. Test were stupid hard. Only God saving thing he does is give extra credit.
worst teacher I've had so far! he reads off powerpoints for every class. study guide never matched the test, nor did any of the online homework! which was a lot of work already. he's very quick at replying to emails. you honestly have to eat and breath biology to even think about passing with a C. never again!
He is HIGHLY disorganized and confusing. Errors on EVERY exam that he gave! On our final, he first gave us the wrong test and then had us wait an hour so he could print out the right one (also had errors). He is defensive when you question him. He gave extra credit opportunity but never put the grade in for it! Overall bad and stressful experience.
I took him for AP1. First day of class, I asked him what the best way to study for his exams. He said to study the power points. To print them out and take my notes on them each lecture. I did that and made flash cards from them. I studied nonstop and completed the all the extra credit available. Passed with an A. Be prepared to work hard!
I can't say enough bad things about Lowery. He makes a good first impression and then devotes the rest of the semester to ensuring that you fail his class. His lectures and homework are completely irrelevant to the ridiculous tests he gives and he hates being asked for help or answering questions. Your best bet is to memorize the textbook.
Horrible teacher. I studied for HOURS. He says the best way to study is reading his power points and listening to his Echo recordings... I did that and so much more. And the only reason I got a B was because he drops the lowest test grade. More than half of my class dropped him. His tests are NOTHING like the hw, powerpoints, or books. AVOID HIM
I took Professor Lowery for bsc2010 and loved his class so much I was sure to take him for bsc2011 as well. He's very passionate about biology and you can really learn a lot from his class if you take the time to simply go. His tests are from the powerpoints and lectures. If you are passionate about science, hes a great teacher for you.
Lectures are unclear, he's not helpful at all. He guarantees his students to fail his tests. Offers extra credit but half of them you cannot find on the Internet. Tests are nothing related to lectures or powerpoints. Echo recordings are helpful. Would NEVER take him again nor would I recommend someone to take him
Great professor. Great lectures and online material, everything is there for you to pass. Should take notes and review to make sure you know the information. If you're looking for a handout and don't want to work for your grade, read his name again, it doesn't say Bernie, bum. I'd take him again for another class.
Tests are very unclear and very hard. Told to study the power point slides which are about 70 slides per class. Definitely not helpful. Only way to pass is to be naturally good at biology. Studied and saw a tutor... Very hard.
He gives long informative lectures but, when it comes to tests it seems like you are enrolled in another class. The tests are very difficult and questions don't match information on powerpoint. Three tests into to semester 14 out of the 30 students that i talked to got F's and D's on all three. I would recommend taking another teacher. Not worth it
if you want to pass you HAVE to put a TON of time into studying. If you don't study you will fail if you study last minute you will fail but I thats just the territory of this class. When he explains things he will go into great detail then say " but you don't need to know that for the test" which can be confusing.
Knowledgeable but gives way too much work. 7 tests, 2 at home, & 17 learnsmart assignments w/no less than 65 questions each. No study guides. Says he uses the pwrpnts for exams but during the test nothing makes sense. He asks unnecessarily long drawn out confusing questions. Plan to study constantly & consider a tutor. Take advantage of offc hrs
Nice professor but this is a tough class. Uses power points that gives information needed for tests but the tests will require you to apply this knowledge differently then what was provided in the examples. It would be best to print out power points before he goes over them and make notes on them. Does offer extra credit and drops lowest test.
Hated this class. No study guide, ridiculous amount of online smart book assignments. Extra credit "given" but he never put mine in blackboard or tells you how much he gave you for your work. Tests were so hard you had to apply topics very different than what you are taught. Could be rude and hated to be asked questions. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Tests were NOTHING about what was on the powerpoint. Expect to study study study study if you even want to manage with a C in this class. Gave bogus extra credit that he didn't even keep documented of, could be really short and rude. No study guides, he expects you to somehow absorb 70-80 powerpoint slides x3 chapters for tests. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
Uh if you want to surely get defeated and feel like there is no hope take this mans class. He not a good professor at all and could care less about his students and if they are actually learning the material. Tests are NOTHING like class and powepoints/smart book assignments. Barely passed and disappointed that IRSC allows this to happen
Really difficult class. I do not recommend anyone take him in any class unless you already have a Phd in Biology. Waste of my time AND my classmates time. Shame on you Professor Lowery
hated it. so hard. bad teacher.
This was the worse class I have ever taken. He does not care about his students. Jokes around to much when we need to concentrate more on the material since the class is already hard enough. He is also not clear with the material AT ALL. 75% of my class dropped his class & now I am stuck retaking Biology again. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! HE IS A TERRIBLE TEACHER AND HIS TESTS AND QUIZZES ARE NOT WHAT YOU LEARN IN CLASS! BEWARE OF THIS MAN!
He lectures a lot, but goes in circles. Only a few people pass. A lot of work too. He isn't too friendly either. I recommend not taking any classes with him.
First year in college and already had to withdraw from a class. Worst teacher ever in my life. I have never had a grade lower than an A-. All my other courses I have A's this class an F. This teacher talks a lot and maked no sense. Power Points are helpful but the test questions and PP don't go hand in hand like he says. Stay clear of this class.
I feel as if Dr. Lowery is being overly criticized. Many of the students who dropped his class were first year college students who were not use to a professor actually making them earn their grade. Biology is a rigorous course and he offers office hours and bonus points to help you if you need it! Take advantage of these opportunities!
As a person, he is very monotone and not personable at all As a teacher, he is very hard to get answers out of when you ask questions. I wouldnt suggest taking this class unless you have a strong biology background and are motivated to check for online homework and study I received a high B, but i worked very hard for that and it still wasnt enough
To learn and understand anything in his class you need either a lot biology background or a personal tutor. Test are nothing like the power points. moves very quick. to smart for himself. MANY MANY test. No class work only connects. Gives extra credit .. but not really much help towards final grade.
Nice enough but says "umm" A LOT!
I went into this class with the mentality that everything people said on here wouldn't apply to me. BOOOY was I wrong. The entire class time is him reading off the slides and going off topic a lot. No study guide or review what so ever. Test are extremely long, specific, and has AT LEAST 5 long chapters. Do yourself a favor and don't take him.
He looks like the actor that plays George in Hart of Dixie, but with glasses. He is a okay teacher. Knows alot about the subject. But can get off subject and is never specific when it comes to what will be on the test. Also, he has a habit of changing his mind when passing out the test. example-two possible answers but won't tell you which question
Unprepared, vague, and air headed. He reads straight from power points and his study guides are not specific. Went to take mid term and he forgets to make the test. do not recommend
No study guide, he knows the books contains many words. The lectures are reading from the powerpoints. Gives the bonus points for the research papers that are not relating to the class if the students answered correctly. Rude to the students who is want to get a good grade. No students couldn't answer the question. He is a bad teacher.
Dr. Lowery is very passionate about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable. I just found it difficult to mold with his way of teaching. He gives many extra credit opportunities, but you will only receive them if you attend class. You have to work hard to get an A or B in his class.
I would not recommend taking this class if you can not memorize small irrelevant details well. Although he lectures straight from the powerpoints for his tests you need to memorize practically all of the powerpoints. He would not help students who were struggling and assumes everyone understands the material. I did not enjoy him as a professor.
Lectures off of power point entire class and recommends to use power point slides as notes with additional note taking from lectures. Tests are NOTHING like the slides. Each hw assignment is 60-80 questions online. Extremely hard to do well in his class, unless you already have a background in biology. Do yourself a favor and take someone else!
Reads off of PowerPoint the whole class, tells you to study PowerPoint for the test and forgets to teach the things you actually need to know. Very unprofessional when it comes to practicals, basically types something wrong and scribbles out the whole sentence to correct it. Does this on majority of the questions. Never again!
Never again! Tests are very hard to understand ( he scribbles all over them) and no study guides + no drop tests are given. He gets annoyed when you ask questions . He also has very aggressive mannerisms that make most students uncomfortable. If you can take a different professor DO IT!!!
Very enthusiastic and engages students.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. This professor barely knows what he's even teaching most times and is constantly unorganized with his lectures, study guides, and overall grading. Not only is he all over the place but his test are super hard.
He gives out bonus points during class but I never seen any of it in the gradebook waste of my time to get that extra point. The homework is done on an online website called pearson my lab it was so much it took me about 2 hours to complete the questions. Tests are so hard whatever I studied for on the lecture class of anatomy and physiology never
I would Not Recommend taking this class for summer. Def. an overload of information. Exams back to back and NO STUDY GUIDE.
Dr. Lowery a teacher that actually teaches! He KNOWS his subject (biology) and is never upset when questions are presented. He curves tests, has one dropped exam, and offers so many extra credit points (20-50). He does not give out study guides but tells you to refer to the lectures. His tests match with the lectures. He is funny and cares. LOVE!
Rude and frustrated when responding to any question asked. Study guides on blackboard are provided but he says are all out of date and useless. Says to study off the PowerPoints for tests (which are 50 questions based off a combo of material learned from 3 or more chapters) but all PowerPoints are 70 plus slides. Seems like he wants you to do bad
I really enjoyed this course! The material is interesting, and Dr. Lowery is highly educated on what he's teaching. He responds quickly and is very involved with the class. Assignment and exams cover the text, so be sure to get the book. Extra credit is offered! I highly recommend taking him!
Professor Lowery was an okay professor however he didn't really know how to teach. The Problem with him is you have to guess what is going to be on the test, no study guide nothing.
when asking for help was treated rudely. You have to study everything on your own. what he teaches in class is not on the tests. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone.
Dr. Lowery was amazing! I got an A+ in his class during a SUMMER COURSE. His extra credit opportunities are abundant and he truly cares to teach.
Although he is knowledgeable on this subject, he is extremely rude. I've never had a worse experience with a teacher. Would not recommend this professor to anybody.
Hes an amazing teacher. He uses clear examples when teaching. And hes really funny and easygoing.
Honestly he was the worst professor I've EVER had. Ive never received a grade lower than an 85 in any of my classes until this one. He is extremely rude and does not help. He puts himself out as not wanting his students to succeed. He brags that most of his students fail and he gets to see them for the next two years. DO NOT take his class!
Dr. Lowery is a great professor, he expects the best out of his students. The class was demanding with all the material. Studying is a must, but you leave his class having a vast amount of information. I would recommend taking his class if you want to learn about the field.
Professor Lowery knows what he's teaching right down to the smallest detail. While it can be rigorous, he gives us all the information we need in his lecture power points. He is very energetic in his teachings and tries to keep everybody captivated. Overall if you study the POWERPOINTS you should be fine. Also his projects are easy and help grade!
This professor did not use any text book and all test were very difficult and no study guide given what's so ever. I would never take him again.
Dr. Lowery was an amazing professor for BSC2093-L. I would highly recommend him for this course. He is extremely knowledgeable and will give you all the tools to learn the material if you put in the effort. He also gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit on exams, so learn the information and you will do fine.
Dr. Rob is a good teacher. He's knowledgeable and passionate about teaching. He will explain stuff well and give you a MILLION opportunities for extra credit. The people on here who didn't do well in his class either don't know how to study, or don't take advantage of the opportunities they're given to improve their grades. Easy A if you study.
do NOT take this professor!
He is not a bad person, but his class is almost impossible to pass. You could read the book, take notes, go over powerpoints , and still fail. His test are so difficult to understand. He uses terminology in his tests that are not covered in class. He also gets distracted in during lectures and veer off subject. DONT TAKE IF YOU CARE ABOUT UR GPA
He's a great teacher if your ready for his class. Meaning he care about a student well being, however what he goes over on his power point rarely contrast to his testes. His is quite disorganized and also he word his assignments so weird , it would be quite difficult to understand. But he has a lot of enthusiasm and he cares about what you learn
This was the toughest class I have probably ever taken and I like biology. Mr. Lowery really does care about his students, however, the tests didn't correlate to what was taught in class. The lectures were quite confusing to me because they weren't very organized. There is also no study guides and tests are what make up your grade. Avoid if you can
Dr Lowery is very fun and really into what he teaches but the his tests are very hard. You need to study everything in the PowerPoints to pass the tests and some things on the test arent even on the PowerPoints. Only grades are the tests & the final which is accumulative. Bonus opportunities are given in class, thats what helped my grade.
Only grades in his class are four tests and the final exam. His tests are not all multiple choice and the extra credit work is a little excessive for the points he offers in return. I'm a straight-A student and his tests were insanely difficult for me to do well on.
Easy class as long as you pay attention to lectures, take good notes, and READ THE PPT SLIDES. Most test questions are from ppt but some are from what Mr. Lowery emphasizes in lecture. He gives tons of extra credit opportunities (up to 30 points) and sometimes curves tests/gives them again. Also, he will help you if needed. Don't read the textbook!
Not a terrible professor; taking him online online was less than desirable. I had a poor experience with regards to receiving a direct response whenever I would email him. I only received a direct response from him once out of the four times i tried to email him. Class wasnt that hard, gave decent feedback, took too long to grade discussion boards
Great professor. He responds to emails quickly, and gives very thorough feedback on your paper. He has a lot of resources to study and do well on his exams. It's a lot of work but not that bad. He is a pretty lenient grader on discussion posts and has a lot of opportunities for extra points.
Professor Lowery is definitely someone id take again. His lectures are easy to listen to and hes always willing to offer extra help and elaborate. He offers his lectures live online and in person for his hybrid courses. Just study the power-points and get a fair understanding of the material to do well.
The only way I passed this class w/ a 99% was because he was so slow getting through the info at the beginning that I took 3/5 tests online -- which I earned an A on. Gives a good amount of extra credit. Tests consist of a lot of questions but he curved the tests by like 20-30 pts!! Also, he drops the lowest test grade which was helpful.
Professor Lowery takes forever to grade your work. He is completely unorganized and forgets a lot of content that we needed to cover. I asked him questions over via email with still no response. I just really don't recommend anyone to have him for bio.
This biology lab class (worth 1 credit) is the only reason I passed my actual biology class (worth 3 credits). Unlike my actual biology class which was very disorganized, the lab was very organized the modules were easy to find and as long as you did the work you will pass. I would definitely take this class again.
He was a really good professor. The online class was structured very well. Every other week you would have a super easy quiz due and the answers are straight from the PowerPoint lecture, and a lab simulation which was fairly easy. This was a really easy class. I think there was only 2-3 proctored exams which if you study for, youll be good.
Professor Lowery was an incredible biology professor! His lectures were clear and easy to listen to and he was very approachable inside and outside of class. There are no study guides for his tests, but you really just need to take notes and make flashcards from the free, online textbook he provides. He also provides extra credit bonus questions.
Don't expect to have a life out of this class (not even a job) if you take it in the summer. U have to read 3-5 chapters EVERY week, do a 6-7 page research paper, about 9 online discussions & respond to peers. Also, he is OBSESSED with cheating, does honor lock and basically doesn't let you look ANYWHERE but the screen. made this class insufferable
Don't expect to have a life out of this class (not even a job) if you take in the summer. U have to read 3-5 ch. per week, do ~9 LONG discussions & respond, a 6-7 page research paper, 7 total exams, also, he is OBSESSED with cheating, does honorlock and expects you to NEVER look away from your screen. Made this class insufferable.
He is not a bad biology teacher he was somewhat disorganized however he did do a good job when it came to teaching. Always gave good examples and taught the material well. There are a lot of tests in the class but he always offers extra credit as well as bonus points. Very nice teacher.
I loved Dr. Lowery. He does ramble a bit but he is super into what he is teaching and will answer any questions you have. There were a few worksheets due every few weeks which really isn't a lot, and a few quizzes. Plenty of extra credit opportunities also which he does not have to do, but kindly still does. Tests are easy if you study!
He was very very disorganized and the class was very lecture heavy
He is a very nice person but very hard to study for his tests, many things on the tests are not on the PowerPoints and he does no reviews.
This professor is not organized. He makes corrections on his (handwritten) exams in the middle of the exam when he realizes that he made multiple mistakes. His tests are comprised of over 60 to 70 questions based on 3 chapters. His lectures are sometimes very informative but the material that he uses are not useful to help study for the tests.
He knows what he's talking about, but problems do arise on the tests. Some times stuff that isn't directly covered in the lectures or the power-points will be put on the test. and there are no real study guides, so if you rely upon that, good luck. Last part, be prepared to take lots of notes.
Please steer clear of this professor. I've never felt so lost and disorganized in a class as I did. From the rushed lectures to the outdated worksheet packets we were given, and the copious times we were given complex work with very little instruction or assistance, me and my peers struggled greatly in this class. Responds quickly however, useless.
His lecture is very detailed and he records all of them for students to study at home. Carefully study the Powerpoints and worksheets and you will be fine. He frequently expected answers from the class when asking us about the subject material, so expect to engage in discussions during lectures instead of just silent note-taking. Ok experience.
BSC2011 lab was very frustrating. Practicals were handwritten and often had mistakes, which he would attempt to correct during exams & pause our progress. His coursework felt disorganized and our lab reports lacked in guidance. Expect to study hard for exams and surprise group presentations. Felt criticized for being even slightly confused.
Please do not take this man's classes. Throw the whole syllabus away. It will not be applied. Surprise group projects and 20 page 300+ question assignments that will be "counted for a grade" but will actually be the smallest grade ever. He is rude to students. Study guides are meaningless. Extra credit and curves will be how you survive this class.
Professor Lowery is engaging and enthusiastic, but his class can be disorganized. Staying on top of the material and using tools like Unstuckstudy along with the free textbook helps a lot. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
Class was very disorganized. Often very rude to students when asking questions. He would stop us during practicals because of mistakes he made. Told him I was having surgery and asked if there was another way I could turn in an assignment and he said no.
If at all possible avoid this professor, here's why: 1) DISORGANIZED- SOA, syllabus and his verbal instructions often do not align and he will make changes on a week to week basis 2) USELESS ASSIGNMENTS- do not aid in exam prep and are from professors that left 3 years ago 3) IRRELEVANT EXAMS- SO MUCH material not covered in class, goodluck.
yes, there is some level of disorganization as noted by many of these reviews, however the material is detailed and the extra credit opportunities are there to make up for some of the chaos. This guys knows and appears to really love his field. Just admit you thought it would be easy and y'all are lazy and that's why you gave him a 1.
Avoid this professor at all costs. He takes a very long time to grade things and doesn't thoroughly go over the material you need to know for the practicals, if you want to do well you MUST study everything yourself because class-time is useless. Majority of your grade relies on bonus points that he doesn't keep track of & has a disorganized SOA.
Tests in which have only about half the information taught are worth 64% of the total grade as of Fall 2025. He takes a long time to grade assignments. The powerpoints that you learn from most of the time are horrible. Disorganzied SOA. Homework will not help you for tests. Only sometimes responds to emails. Extra credit is how you survive.
