not bad teacher but avoid if possible
LUPI IS THE MAN - he explains everything really well and is very helpful in aiding people who don't understand the material. If you do the work, the class isn't very hard and there's never a lot of work. RECCOMENDED
Extremely helpful and always very fair with quizzes and tests; homework optional only counted towards if a grade is borderline; highly reccomended as a professor
Explains mathematical concepts very well and his expectations are clear. I never once had to turn to the book to learn the material; he taught all the important things in class. If you pay attention and do the homework you'll be fine.
Great teacher, makes me actually go to class.
very nice, very helpful, tends to talk quite fast while giving a lot of notes
Excellent calc teacher. very enthusiastic about teaching. examples are very good and help with the weekly quizzes. if you do the homework assignments its easy to get a 100 on every quiz. the midterms and final were reasonable too.
One of the best. Can take difficult material and make it bearable. Pleasant, helpful, and clearly wants his students to learn. Register early, his classes fill up quickly.
Lupi seems kinda austere, but he knows his stuff, and if you take good notes and pay attention, you'll know it too. Helpful with homework, and fairly so at office hours, but know exactly why you're going before you do. A no-bull teacher, and a fairly easy A.
Lupi is awesome! Lots of notes, but they help a bunch. Not a lot of homework, not strict either. Easy quizes because they're basically all hw problems. Tests are tough but fair. Fair grader, too.

This teacher explains math in the most simple way possible, and is always willing to answer your questions. However due to his complete and total lack of personality, if you ask a stupid question he will make you feel like a stupid person. Tests and quizzes are difficult, but should be no problem if you do the homework and listen to him in class
Very fast paced and extremely informational. Everything is broken down and organized in a fashion that is easy to learn a difficult subject. Nice & helpful.
an AMAZING teacher! Best math teacher in the dept that i've found so far. organized, fast paced, easy to understand, outlines the subject, and basically awesome. homework collected, weekly quizzes, 1 midterm + 1 final. VERY HELPFUL! TAKE THIS CLASS!
Excellent professor. He always provides clear example of the subjects.
I took calc 3 with him... He is very reasonable and patient... Just attend his classes and ul be fine... One of the better Math teachers... Quizzes are similar to homework assignments and if u think ur unfairly graded speak to him and he give u a good explanation or give u more partial credit...
He enters room. Answers homework questions. Does new examples. Allows class to try new examples. Assigns homework. Lets everyone out early if it was clear to everyone. Bang bang bang, super-clear, very effective. Best math teacher possible.
By far, without a doubt, the best professor at Northeastern. Makes everything seem so easy.
He is a very good teacher, although his personality is a little dry. His notes are extremely useful and necessary. He provides plenty of examples to help guide you through the class. Don't skip class or you will fall behind. The class is not easy but his teaching makes it fairly straight forward and doable. Good teacher, would recommend.
Great Professor. One of the best that I have had at Northeastern so far. He makes everything very easy.
Extremely efficient: Gives you a quick run down of the material, does a bunch of examples, quizzes you every week. Great at explaining things; some of the quizzes were a little hard though. Overall great prof., especially if you're not great at calc but need to take it.
Extremely efficient and clear. Come to class and expect to pay close attention for greatest benefit. Quizzes and classes are both fair and short. He ends class early for some of the easier stuff, but only if everyone claims that they understand. He knows he's a good teacher, so don't expect sympathy if you skip class and fail.
Helpful, knowledgeable, provides a lot of examples, quizzes are kinda tricky, grades leniently, midterm & final are doable, sometimes he makes things complicated on the board, but still overall as a good professor.
Best Calc. teacher ever. The material in calculus 2 is difficult, but Lupi is a great lecturer.
This guy is the man. I wish i had him for all my calc classes. Very clear, knows his stuff, helps you get your grade up if you need. Very clear on what is expected on quizzes and tests.
Great Teacher. Made subject matter really clear and didnt try to trick you on any quizzes. Always willing to take questions even stupid ones. Definitely want to take a class with him again.
I wish we did more derivations of formulas. But all in all, he was a great teacher. Maybe a little boring if math isn't your thing. Very smart and patient.
He's very helpful and flexible. He gives good in class notes. Easy weekly quizzes. Homeworks are optional. A bit overrated tho when it comes to clarity, but I recommend him.
Im majoring in mech engineering and minoring in math so ive take a lot of math classes. lupi is one of the best math professors ive ever had in my life. concise, clear, freakin smart, freakin easy, excellent at teaching, excellent at explaining, knows his stuff, very helpful and his quizzes are mad easy. very lenient grader. AMAZING PROF.
He could be very abrupt with students. But he knows the material. Textbook used if you miss class or want to do the homework. Much more doable class than Calculus 3.
Excellent guy, excellent professor. He is clear and concise and willing to explain anything twice in his lecture. The quizzes and exams are on par with the rest of the course, he is a pretty lenient grader. Best math professor I've had at Northeastern.
Prof Lupi knows how to teach. One of the best math professors I've had to date and he will stop the class to make sure a student understands. If you go to class, you'll understand. He explains it well and the quizzes are like problems he does in class.
Favorite professor. Favorite class. You can't beat Bob Lupi. Guy knows his stuff. If you come to class, you get an A
He knows how to teach. The quizzes like homework and examples he gave in class. Go to class, you can get an A.
Fun guy, seems to actually care
Bob Lupi is an excellent professor. His class is exactly what you want in a math class: straightforward grading expectations, quality lectures and accompanying notes, and help available when you need it. If you make the effort to go to his class it is not hard to nail the quizzes every week and do well on the exams. Highly recommend him!
Super helpful and does tons of practice problems in class to really enforce the material. the curriculum itself is a bit fast paced but he does a good job of making sure that you learn it all. The class does require a bit of effort though.
Fast pace but as long as you attend class and do homework, there's nothing to worry about. Very straightforward professor
Go to the classes, he explains everything you need to know and you don't have to read the textbook as long as you have your notes. His example problems 99% of the time cover all of the types of problems you will ever see, and that 1% is covered by the video solutions to the textbook problems. Nice class, a good break from Calc 3.
Lupi is one of the best professors I've had. I'm not a math major and DiffEq was one of my favorite classes last semester. His lectures are fast-paced but very straightforward. His office hours are a huge help. Every problem I remember seeing on tests was either an example or in the homework.
Lupi is a solid professor for straight up learning the material. Has very organized lectures, is very efficient with time and sets you up well for the quizzes and tests. Can come across as a little cocky and cruel, but will still help you out if you request it. Doing homework really helps on the tests and quizzes as well, as he will point out.
Lupi is the best math teacher I have ever had. He is clear and concise in his lectures and his examples are the hardest things you'll see beyond the occasional homework problem (that has a video). The weekly quizzes are helpful (and from the hw), and if you do better on the final than one of the midterms, he'll replace the midterm grade.
Lupi is the best prof I've ever had. He explains things very clearly & step by step. He cares about his students, but I can see how some see him as a harsh guy; he's just straight forward but tbh its kind of amusing in class. He's ALWAYS prepared, shows you everything you'll come across on hw, quizzes, & exams. He's known to best for diff equ prof
Great professor. I wish I could take him again but he only teaches this class. He tells you theory, then examples, then you practice the same stuff for homework, then you already know how to do all the problems on the exams and quizzes. This is how a math class should be: clear and understandable. You have to go to class; just write down everything
My biggest challenge with this class was the fact that there were about 100 students in one class.
Very well-versed in the materials and efficient with the notes & class time. Fair testing, and went over proofs satisfyingly. Could have explained the concepts more though- the class was very computational and things were introduced often in a "memorize this" sort of way. Liked his style and honestly wish he talked about himself some more!
Prof. Lupi explains the process of differential equations very clearly. He gives clear step-by-step procedures and all quizes match examples he does in class. However, he doesn't really explain anything conceptually. Not a good choice if you want conceptual understanding, amazing choice if you just want to learn the procedure & material. Easy A.
Gives very clear, detailed notes. Can be a bit condescending when people ask questions, but he clearly knows his stuff. Your grade may depend on the TA your class has, as they're a bit inconsistent with grading. Some take off more points than others for the same mistake, but if you bring it to Lupi's attention he's pretty good at clearing it up.
Lupi is the man. I took differential equations with McOwen and dropped the class after the first midterm - I was doing so bad. Lupi boils down the material to a level that is easy to understand and grades very fairly. Doing the assigned homework is crucial to success, and quizzes and exams are straightforward if you study.
Lupi is such a great teacher. I had him over the summer and I loved this class. I definitely could've done better but that was my fault. He made the class really easy and understandable. Just do the homework and you're prepared for the quizzes. He genuinely wants what's best for his students.
Lupi is a Mathematical GOD. One of the greatest Professors at Northeastern hands-down, take him and you won't regret it. Succinct, easy to understand, accessible, willing to help and work with you- made Differential Equations easy! Quick grading turnaround also a plus.
He teaches good.
Goes too fast, harsh grader. Won't take again.
Lupi boils complex math ideas into simple and repetitive math operations. He can answer almost all your questions. His quizzes and homework are very reasonable and they definitely prepare you well for the final. All you need to do to succeed in this class is just to go to classes and do his homework. He is also very accessible outside of class.
Professor Lupi is a very good professor. His lectures are always clear and he moves at a good pace. He is a very fair grader, and his class does not require too much outside work.
just like for every other math class, you should do the homework. lupi does his job as a professor (which I guess makes him above average) but I've had plenty of better professors. he's kind of awkward as a person and talking to him is weird. although I did learn in his class, I attribute most of it to the homework, not his lectures.
I love professor Lupi! He's a bit quiet and he has to warm up to the class, but he is a really great teacher. When I was stuck on something, he was really patient and helped me through it in office hours. One of the best math teacher's I've ever had.
Was the best math prof Ive had before COVID19 sent us home. He gives great lectures that are concise and clear. He makes everything set up so his practice problems in class are what you see on quizzes and tests. Often lets us out early. Grade professor (wasnt that helpful for online but in-person hes top-notch)
I love Professor Lupi! He's great at explaining things and always makes sure students understand the material. If you have a question he'll always answer it fully and thoroughly. He really cares about his students and is really accommodating. He also wears awesome sweaters every class.
Lupi is a perfect professor for math. He moves quickly but is extremely thorough, and he's always willing to pause and answer questions. I highly recommend attending every class and writing down everything he writes on the board, as each lecture is packed with info. Though he goes quickly and gives lots of information, I never found it unmanageable
Great class. His lectures are very example-driven, which I personally find helpful. If you feel comfortable doing the problems in lecture / on the homework, then quizzes and exams shouldn't be an issue. Also, he has a great fashion sense
Professor Lupi was overall a super chill and amazing professor. He did a ton of practice during class and made sure we understood everything before the quizzes/exams. He didn't look at the Zoom chat too much, but he was always clear with his work and expectations.
Professor Lupi is a great professor--his lectures are clear and he goes over many example problems that mirror how he structures his tests. He does tend to call on the same students, but that's really only because they volunteered answers multiple times.
Lupi is pretty good. He gives clear lectures and assignments but never explained a deeper context, more of a plug-and-chug class, which made it harder for me (though easier for some im sure). Sometimes came off a little condescending but this class is pretty straightforward, especially if you do the homework.
Professor Lupi does an amazing job of explaining difficult math concepts in a very clear and easy to understand way. His quizzes are straightforward and easy if you do the homework, and there's nothing unexpected on them. If you go to the lectures, take good notes, and do the short homeworks, you will be totally fine.
This guy knows one of the hardest math subjects from the top of his head and really checks in with students on homework problems or questions before a quiz. His pace was really well and lets other know what to expect on the quizzes or exams. Great professor for Diff Eq
Clear cut teaching methods - easy to understand. Explains in a clear fashion. Cares that you understand the material
Professor Lupi is a pro at this. His lectures are so fluid and clean and he doesn't waste any time. He doesn't really teach much about the theory or conceptual stuff but I think that is better because you only learn what you have to learn. Definitely one of the best options for diffeq. Exams are relatively easy so are quizzes.
Lupi is an amazing prof. His lectures are very straightforward and the examples he goes over are usually reflected on the quizzes. If you take good notes and do the homework, this class should be pretty doable. Go to office hours if confused, he's super helpful.
Pretty standard math class at NEU. Very easy to follow lectures. Very nice guy overall. Never does too much content in one class. Most quizzes are copies of the practice quizzes but with the numbers changed. Linear can be a hard subject but this course doesn't go too far in depth.
Lectures were boring and hard to follow. He didn't give any practice quizzes/tests. Was kind of rude when people asked questions.
Prof lupi is a good teacher. He explains things well. sometimes, he seems to zoom through problems very quickly, but will clarify if asked. I don't recommend skipping because in this class things snowball fast
Lupi is amazing at teaching Math2341 - there was never a concept I did not understand because of him. Definitely take him periodt.
Professor Lupi's lectures were clear and organized. He respected our time and was not afraid to let class out early to coordinate with the lesson plans. Lots of examples done throughout class and homework was optional but very helpful. Quizzes and exams contained the same types of problems found on the homework. Probably the best math prof I've had
Lectures are very straightforward. He briefly explains the concept then goes directly to practice problems for the rest of class. Homework is optional, but the quizzes are pretty much exactly like the homework and in class problems. Grade is only based off tests and attendance is optional, but the lectures build off of each other
He is the best math teacher I've had so far. He is very clear on how to do the math and is accessible via email or office hours. He literally made me like math again after a terrible calc 3 teacher. I would do the homework if you want an A, but it's not required. Show up to class, pay attention, and do the homework; you'll do well.
Lupi is a solid professor. Each lecture builds off the other, and things are nominally explained once, so do not miss a single moment of a lecture. If you go to the lecture, take notes, do the homework, and do the practice exams, you will be fine. He seems tough on the surface but is a nice guy.
Professor Lupi is genuinely the best math professor at Northeastern. His lectures are so effective in teaching such difficult concepts, and he goes really fast, but they are so useful. I rarely struggled with understanding concepts in his class, and his quizzes and tests are fairly straightforward too; highly recommend him!
Lupi was fine until before one of our last quizzes, he collected our formula sheets that had some printed information and some information we had to write ourselves, and proceeded to RIP THEM UP IN FRONT OF OUR FACES. There was a new sheet on the back of the quiz, but not written the same way mine was obviously since I had made mine catered to me.
This is my king. Spends every second leading up to weekly quizzes just drilling the material and giving you practice problems. Midterms are a very clear reflection of the final. Posts so much extra practice with solutions.
Lectures were clear and understandable and tests and quizzes were fair. Best professor I've had for any class ever, wish I'd had him for Calc 2 and 3.
Lupi was great. He was very direct with what we needed to know, taught well, and prepared us for every exam. The weekly quizzes were never bad, and we had two drops. Awesome professor!
Super clear, organized, and gives a lot of resources to practice. Loved the class structure and he gives the opportunity to drop your 2 lowest quiz grades. Don't ask him a question that's on the syllabus though...
Professor Lupi was great for a basic math class. Lectures are concise, and he doesn't try to "trick" students. He sometimes came off as condescending but in good spirits. There are quizzes each week, and the lowest two are dropped. If you go to class and review in-class and homework problems, you should never have an issue with the quizzes.
Such an amazing, simple, and organized professor! He gives plenty of examples throughout class as well as posting optional homework practice questions (with answers) and when it comes to the weekly quizzes, they are very straightforward. He can seem a bit scary to approach but he's a great guy.
Lupi is amazing! He explains concepts really well, and has a great sense of humor. Only critique I have is sometimes his lectures get a bit monotonous. The quizzes are easy (although I only rarely got a 100), and I only did homework an hour before to prep for it. Final was very long but not bad at all (worth 40% of grade though).
Lupi is a good teacher, and by far the best option available for this class. His lectures are FAST and can get monotonous, so make sure you keep up, but the lectures are also very to the point and give you what you need for the quizzes/exams. A word of advice: USE OFFICE HOURS IF YOURE CONFUSED! I did not and got a C :)
Bad at empathizing with students, gives poor explanations to questions that leave you more confused. Unless you have an intuitive understanding of the topics already he is very bad at bridging the gap and helping students understand.
Smartest guy ever and lectures are very easy to follow
Very boring class. The quizzes and tests are fine, but the TAs this semester are pretty harsh, and the average for each assessment tends to be around 75. I dislike his teaching style because he literally just goes through example questions. I understand why he does this, but he never gives higher-level conceptual overviews for anything.
seems like a run-of-the-mill tenured teacher but he will sit down with you during office hours(GO!!!!), lays out the information in digestible portions in class, and is a very articulate and fantastic teacher.
Took bob for diffy q, fantastic professor. Clearly knows what hes talking about and comprehensively goes over exact content/problems that are present on quizzes and exams. Cut and dry homeworks are very similar to problems on tests, highly recommend.
Decent class. I took it in the summer, so it was very test heavy. Homework is optional but is good for practicing for the quizzes. Go to lectures = good grades.
Lupi made a confusing class very easy. I showed up everyday and was able to get an A in the class. He is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have. The quizzes are just like practice problems in lecture and lie the homework problems
He is a very efficient professor. Goes extremely fast and is very thorough in his teaching but he doesn't like slowing down. Moody and his contacts freak me out a little but he is extremely effective. Take his class, he will help you understand the material.
Great dude, learned a lot from him, the best professor i've had at NEU
Bob Lupi is probably the best LinAlg/DiffEQ teacher at Northeastern right now. He's straightforward in lectures. Does not use slides; teaches straight from the chalkboard. Quiz every week (DO THE OPTIONAL HW PROBLEMS HE GIVES! Matches quizzes/exams really nicely). Drops the 2 lowest quiz grades. Pay attention in the lecture because he can go fast.
Hard to follow during lectures, but extremely good during office hours. I am not sure whether he or the TAs grade quizzes and tests, but the grading is the harshest I have ever seen. Also, he enjoys questions that you have never seen before, and you need a deep conceptual knowledge to figure them out mid quiz/test.
Boy oh boy... where do I begin... Bob Lupi is a great teacher if you pay attention to his lectures. He makes the material digestible and easy to learn. HW is not mandatory but quiz problems are basically the same as the HW problems, so do them anyways. Great course and great professor, even though he might seem grouchy. Also the textbook is goated.
Lectures were incredibly boring, and fast paced. He gave zero conceptual explanation of new topics. Studying for tests was just memorizing the steps for each problem. I feel like i learned nothing, if you want to understand the material take prasanth. midterm MCQ questions test you on edge cases that he mentioned once and never showed up again.
Lupi is a very nice guy, and if you go to office hours can be quite helpful. But, the midterms are out of 25 points (same as quizzes) and everything was graded ridiculously hard
