He is all over the place. I honestly think there is a circus going on in his head 247. He has a special way of doing math, which if you are already use to the material, it will confuse you He wants it his way only Also, he doesn't care what calculator knowledge you have, he wants it all on paper. Very difficult to communicate with.
In all his lectures he goes off on wild tangents im halfway through the semester and at many points throughout the course we were behind more than a couple of classes at a time . i stopped listening to him lecture... you can learn in 15 min on youtube what it takes him an hour to teach . I have had only 1 or 2 bad teachers in my life and he is one.
he go's off on tangents and does more talking than teaching. you can learn more on youtube in 15 minutes than listening to him for an hour. he is hard to pa attention too and make something semi bearable that should take 30 min into an unbearable hour. if he cared more he could be a great teacher but i dont think he does.
You will have quizzes almost every time. He doesn't know what he is talking about and messes up frequently. Dont take if you are not good in math because he doesn't explain well and doesn't comprehend the info. Tests are pretty hard. He takes attendance and is strict w turning in hw and quizzes. Long class and a lot of work as well. Don't recomend
I thought he was extremely helpful. Im usually not to good in math but he made everything seem really easy. Yes he gets off topic a lot but his teaching techniques make up for it. He grades extremely easy. I recommend him.
Malwtiz is a goofy guy that means well and knows a lot about his subject but is not necessarily equipped to be a college professor. He gets off subject very frequently in his lectures and when he messes up the students point it out and he has a different excuse every time. Unless you're gifted in math, do not take his class.
He is a great professor. He will help you on just about everything if you ask. He's actiallg kind of funny, and because of that he will get sidetracked sometimes. Overall, I would take his class again because it was full of mostly clear lectures and funny stories.
Malwitz is a good prof. He goes over everything in class and if you need extra help, he's happy to do it. He'll teach the class at the student's pace. ALTHOUGH, it is calculus so it's not easy. You have to go to class and pay attention. But you should be fine.
Look..... his class is easy but the man is just not cut out for teaching college. If you have good math experience his class is too easy. The guy runs off on tangents a lot and never is up to date with the syllabus. He is also an extremely slow grader and gives excuses for why he didn't grade them. His class is easy but it can he can be so lame.
Malwitz was a great professor. He knows what he's talking about and really knows the material. Don't pay attention, you'll be confused. I took a Calculus course in high school that REALLY helped me tremendously in this class. I'd take this course again if I needed to. Nothing negative to say.
most annoying prof I've ever had. Could teach good but cant stay on topic making lessons difficult to follow. He thinks he's funny but he's not & spends most of class talking about something other than math. tries to be helpful tho & cares about students grade. daily homework & weekly quizzes
Mr. Malwitz teaches to quickly for me. He is a fairly easy teacher to have though giving homework once or twice a week with take home quizzes and at one time a take home test. Dont expect to know what you made on your quizzes or tests right away, very slow grader. He does get off topic constantly but can be funny.
The class itself is fairly easy, the quizzes are all take homes, the homework is online and the tests are fairly simple. Malwitz tries way too hard to be funny and it can get annoying, he's a bit rude in his jokes and at times can make you feel like an idiot, otherwise he teaches the subject well enough to at least attain a passing grade.
The homework is all online and is fairly easy but only if you pay attention in class. Quizzes are all take home so a good grade should be expected and he gives reviews for all tests so they are not that hard. The down side to this prof is that he rambles on about meaningless things constantly and it wastes a lot of class time which gets us behind.
He really is a decent teacher. He's open to helping and going back over things in class or in private, he just doesn't have good social skills. The guy rambles on all class and NO ONE laughs at his jokes. Awkward silence every time. He's annoying, makes excuses for not grading and is just plain odd. I wouldn't take him if I were you.
He's tends to get off topic ALOT, but he's sure to cover all the material that you will see on test. He's very clear with his teaching. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. Lots of quizzes and homework, but they're all pretty simple. Alway gives test reviews that are almost exactly like the test. An A is attainable.
I took his Math 1314 class, I don't understand it easily. He stayed after work helping me to understand the material. If you want to learn he will be there to help you. His jokes are dumb & he has long lectures, but if you listen you will learn. He has a big heart & behind the goofiness is easy to talk to. MML & paper HW weekly. Easy Class take him!
Homework paper and online weekly. Gives test reviews that are basically exactly like the test he is going to give you except the numbers are changed so if you know the review you will pass the test. He will work with you if you miss an assignment. Sweet teacher, tells boring stories in class & he is a Broncos fan. He is understanding. Great Prof!
He is the easiest math teacher at Blinn by far, trust me. He is there for you. Tests are exactly like the reviews. Hw MML & paper. He grades semi-fast. Easy class.
Mr. Malwitz works out all the problems in the notes and makes it his priority that everyone leaves class with a clear understanding. I struggle with math but I couldn't have made a better decision than to pick him. Stay engaged in lectures, turn in easy HW assignments, do weekly take home quiz and there is no way you won't do well.
He's a really nice teacher, I'm actually taking him again for 1325 this semester. Yeah he gives a lot of homework but it's not hard and it's all online. He helped me with a take home quiz and notes when I missed class and the notes are in a pre-made notebook. Just pay attention and you'll do fine!
Pretty annoying. You better have some incredible patience to make it through his lectures. Easy material just wish I could've taken it with anyone else.
Literally sang "My Give a Hoot's Busted" by Jo Dee Messina in class. He's all over the place but you always understand the material, definitely wroth your money!
The guy is goofy, but a really good professor. His test are easy, all you have to do is go to class, pay attention and do the online homework. He gives out practice test before the test that are very close to what the actual test look like. If you know how to do that, you will ace every test. I would take him again for sure.
He tries very hard to keep everyone laughing. For some it annoys them for others it makes class bearable. He is very long winded and takes a while to get to his point. Great for someone with no calculus background, boring for someone who does. Overall he's a good prof and its not too hard! Do your homework and go to class, you'll be good!
He gets really distracted in class, so sometimes the lectures are painful.. He goes off about random things for like 20 minutes at a time. He's a friendly guy though, just a little awkward. He gives partial credit on exams very generously! I've never taken calculus and I'm doing really well in his class. Good prof, just talks a lot.
There really is not a better math professor at Blinn! If you have a hard time with math, and you want a professor that is able to take hard concepts and make them easy to understand he is your guy. This prof won't diminish you as a person or make you feel stupid for not knowing concepts "that you should already know." Do the work, and you'll pass.
He gets distracted easily and talks a bit too much about his personal life but to be honest it's so awkward it's entertaining. He is super helpful, I suck at math but i actually have a high B in the class. He makes learning easy and less painful. He grades very thoroughly and gives really good feedback. I plan on taking him for 1325 for sure.
VERY goofy man but easily can pass if you pay attention and do ALL assignments.
You need to have a lot of patience when it comes to Malwitz. He talks up a good storm and it takes some time to get used to. He's overall a good professor, but I don't think he's a good fit for me.
At first I wasn't too keen on him, but as the semester went by I found myself liking his class more and more. He explains the problems really well and makes sure everyone understands it before moving on. He has a very dry sense of humor, but always makes jokes in class. Would highly recommend him!!
Coming in I had a 30 in my High School calculus class and after taking the course I received an A. Yes, he gets off topic and his jokes are corny but if you want someone who can teach you extremely well and help you earn an A I urge you to take this class. Gives lots of partial credit on tests.
I was not excited at all after the first week with him, however I began to like his style more and more throughout the year. Overall he is there to make sure everyone does well in the class, he's always in his office hours to help. Grades difficult but gives a lot of partial points that help. I would suggest anyone to take his class.
He's awful!! save your GPA and don't take his class. First exams were returned and he took points off for the dumbest things. He thinks his jokes are funny but they aren't and neither is he... I wish I had ANYONE else teaching me this class.
This professor is so legit I had to Quit! He'll work with you and make you a better citizen by the time the class is over. He has what it takes to possibly even run for Mayor of the city. This man is a great professor don't hesitate to take him, and you'll have to earn your grade but its worth it.
He is not that bad, math is hard in general. But he actually does a great job explaining things. Does get off topic very often and tries to make jokes about everything. But overall, his test aren't too bad as long as you know the material. And all the quizzes were take home. Does take off for goofy stuff on an exam, just be careful & show all work!
All the quizzes are take home. He is always willing to help you.
if he was as good at his jokes as he was at teaching the man would be a millionaire from being a comedian, i.e. he has corny jokes but he's very good at teaching and helping you understand math! I'm taking him again for 1324. Shows up early for his office hours and is always willing to help you when you need it.
He's fine. He thinks he's really funny which made me laugh more than his actual jokes. He also talks about food a lot and gets off topic very easily. I took AP clac in high school so this class was a breeze. Pretty basic concepts are taught.
He gets off topic way to easily. Doesn't truly teach you the ways to do each step of the problem, rather he'd talk about if you can't do "simple" problems you will work at McDonalds the rest of your life. I respect him, he's a nice guy but it's the best teacher. Went to his office hours a few times and he was 20 minutes late.
It takes a certain type of person to appreciate Mr. Malwitz's teaching style. Behind his jokes and harmless rants, he's a great teacher. Always willing to help in his office hours, gives reviews for each test, and quizzes are take-home. Wish I could say more to justify him as a professor but there simply aren't enough characters. Take him.
Prof Malwitz is someone I grew to appreciate. Once you stop looking at his jokes and rants and pointless and annoying you see he's actually a really caring and kinda funny guy. He is always willing to help out during office hours. There is a lot of homework online but stay on top of it and it shouldn't be an issue. PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS & GO!
dont take his class. hes never in his office when you try to go to his office hours. he doesnt explain stuff well. the homework is way different than the way he teaches it. if you solve the problems the same way on homework on the test youll get partial credit. he gets off topic a lot and always talks about food.
The test is complex. I completed 1324 with ease. This class is overwhelming. Most students are struggling. Find another professor.
There isn't anything great about this professor. He's nit-picky, doesn't care about your grades, and rude to students. Calculus is already difficult and he's demeaning when people ask questions so no one ever does. DO NOT take his class. Had to hire someone else to teach me calculus because I haven't learned anything in his class.
the start of this course seemed like he would be hard and I thought I would not enjoy his class. But once you get past him thinking that he is hilarious and realize he is actually kinda funny and is a cool guy. He cares about your grade and wants every student to know what is going on. I would highly recommend. You still have to work for your grade
If you get Malwitz find a tutor. He is very picky on grading and will count off for the little things. He takes a long time to grade tests. One test was a take home test - hire a tutor but don't expect an A on that test either.
Malwitz is an awesome teacher. He seems mean and impossible at first but he really cares about his students and wants them to get good grades. He shows every step for each problem until everyone is comfortable with it and fully understands it. His tests are exactly like his reviews so pay attention to detail.
Mr. Malwitz is not the nicest person, but he teaches very well and makes sure everyone understands. His reviews are just like the test so as long as you got the review down, the test will be super easy. Just do the homework and this class is not hard to get an A in.
First of all I am terrible at math or so i thought, until I took Malwitz he made math not seem so scary. But dont be fooled he is a tough grader, which is understandle because if your missing steps then your answer will be incorrect he is just trying to make you a better mathematician. I am taking him again for 1325. Another tip dont miss class!
I have always been terrible at math & I have never received an A in my life so I was scared for this class. He definitely has a weird personality but he is honestly such a great teacher. He goes through every problem in great detail at an appropriate pace. The test reviews are almost identical to the test and he has a lot of office hours.
I took Malwitz for Summer I semester and honestly I've never met a prof as helpful and caring as him. Although he may get slightly awkward during lectures, he takes the time to make sure everyone understands the material before moving on. Go to office hours and GO TO CLASS ON TIME. He drops two of the lowest homework grades! Take his class!
When I signed up for Prof. Malwitz, I was skeptical about him due to his score on this site; but after taking his 1324 class over Summer 1, I think he's a good prof. He always made sure we understood the material before we moved on. He can be a little aggressive and sarcastic in his lectures but looking past all of that, I think he's a solid choice
Professor Malwitz is one of the most caring teachers out there. He tries way too hard to make his students laugh and a lot of people don't take him seriously, but they should. If you pay attention through his rambling you learn a lot and he's always there to help. Flexible and understanding about assignments and missed classes.
Mr. Malwitz is a great teacher. He is a straight to the point teacher, he will show you the easiest ways to solve each problem. Dont be intimidated by his sense of humor. If you follow his classroom guidelines and participate you will do good! I loved this class, I was motivated the whole semester. a tip: SHOW ALL WORK and follow steps.
Mr. Malwitz is a good teacher and a nice guy, but he gets distracted way too easily. I have no problem with a teacher who tells a few jokes but say the wrong thing and he's off on a tangent. This results in the class being super behind. If you're bad at math make sure you copy down the notes word for word and attended his office hours regularly.
I really enjoyed his class and felt as if I learned a lot. He was very detailed and really took the time to make sure that he thoroughly explained everything. There is a lot of work though and you have to be willing to do it.
Took him for 1324 & 1325. Neither class is easy, but if you go to his office hours then you will be successful in this class. He gives you lots of opportunities to get help. Study the reviews!!! They are often very similar to the tests.
He is an amazing teacher but you do have to work for it and do all of your online homework. He has a different personality but you have to understand his sense of humor. All of his test reviews are just like the tests.
Professor Malwitz has a rather strange personality. He can be rather harsh seeming at first, but once you get to know him he's actually pretty funny. He cares about his students and the grades that they recieve in the class. He makes sure that everyone understands the material before moving on. Pay attention in class and DO THE ONLINE HOMEWORK!
At first he tries WAY too hard to seem scary/tough. Do NOT let this scare you, he is a kind hearted person who want's his students to do good. He makes himself available for HOURS before class to help - take advantage of this, it helps. I don't have my grade yet but so far I've made all A's. Reviews very similar to test. Lots of online work.
This is my second time to take math 1324, Malwitiz is a good prof. Hes easy to understand, he gives you senarios that you can compare the work to, and he loves what he teaches. He can easily get off topic with students and BS. but overall good math teacher. I easily learned in this class. he gives homework to do about 2 a week and online homework.
Tries to come off as scary at first when he's just trying to get you to care about the class. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Loves what he teaches, can get off topic though. Gives online homework (due night before test) and in class homework (pretty simple). Will call you out if you're on your phone in class!
If you want a professor that talks about you behind your back, take him he'll be great for you. Now I'm not a math person so this class was kinda difficult for me, but when he made passive aggressive comments about everything during class it made it even more difficult. I DO NOT recommend him at all.
Professor Malwitz is a decent professor. He explains concepts really well and is willing to help during office hours. He can be kind of condescending in class but it's not that big of a deal. A good professor to have if you're just trying to get credit. The homework is pretty easy and helps a lot with tests.
He was a great professor and I really learned the material but sometimes he goes off topic and may or may not talk about politics, overall a great guy and I do recommend him. Grr
Gets off topic a lot and sometimes annoying
I really had high expectations for his class but was let down. By far the worst math class I have ever taken. Be careful asking him questions, he'll make fun of you and make you feel dumb for asking. Would never recommend him. Just an awful professor.
Daily handout and online homework that takes 2+ hours each to complete in both his lab and regular class, tests not over the material studied, no test corrections/extra credit/or curves, poorly placed office hours, constant rude comments to students, receiving no email responses, and no forgiveness for missing class for an emergency and or job.
Profesor Malwitz goes off topic during lecture, hes intimidating when you ask him for help, unorganized, barely keeps your grade up to date, doesnt really clarify when lecturing. Will call you out if using your phone. Gives homework for every section done & online homework due the night before the test (DONT DO THEM IN 1 NIGHT WILL NOT FINISH)
Probably one of the hardest classes i've taken this semester. I recommend getting outside help like a tutor. Tends to push things back & get off topic a lot & gets kinda irritated when u ask for help in the hall before class/in the beginning of. Test do get harder over time & NEVER do hw last minute. Also be prepared to hear "Grr" a lot from him.
Malwitz is about as helpful as a rock while trying to learn Statistics. He constantly teaches the content wrong, has an aggressive/rude attitude towards the class and grades way too hard marking points off for any stupid little thing. He has been the worst prof. i have had in my 2 years of college...
DO NOT TAKE, he greats extremely hard, often doesnt even know how to do the material he is teaching, no extra credit or curves, he is very rude
Malwitz comes off very passive aggressive and condescending but he really does care about what hes teaching. Sometimes he does get off topic and rants and rambles about stuff that has nothing to do with the class, but when he does explain the material he makes sure everyone understands it. Hes very accessible outside of class and flexible.
I had Malwitz for the first 2 months of school that we were there. (due to the whole coronavirus) He gets off topic and we never get to actually finish the lesson. Yeah is makes jokes and is fun, but I would actually like to learn material that I am going to be tested over. He gives you worksheets to take home almost every class + online assigments
Where do I even begin, The worst professor you will ever have in your entire life. He is never on topic, very rude, very unprofessional and inconsiderate of students. It seems like he does not want you to pass. He thinks he is funny but he is so rude and sarcastic. If you take him be prepared to teach yourself the whole course. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
disrespectful. I got a text during class with a family emergency & I was replying & he embarassed me in front of the whole class. If only he knew what he yelled at me for replying to. I left school & cried in my car. He does not care about anybody but himself and is just plain mean. you can tell he is miserable and takes it out on the students.
gets off topic and rarely finished the lesson. due to corona, we went online and he did absolutely nothing to teach beside send pics of notes. it is impossible to teach statistics to urself from a pic. lots of hwk that is nothing like he teaches. takes 4evr answering emails. doesnt know what hes teaching, walked barefooted around during test... ew
Don't take him for an easy A. He gets off topic A LOT & will keep after class EVERY lecture. He isn't nice, can be condescending, & will prob embarrass you. However, he is passionate about what he teaches & will help explain whatever you don't understand. He made transferring online go as smoothly as he could & loosened up on late assignments.
He goes off topic A LOT but if you pay attention during lectures and do the homework he gives you will do fine. He is honestly a tough prof in the sense that he is going to make you work for it but during this whole pandemic, he was extremely patient and worked hard to help us. Tests are exactly like the review so STUDY and you will pass easily.
Hard to work with and gets off topic. Made me feel dumb when I asked a question.
Math is already hard as it is & Mr. Malawitz makes it feel 10x worse. He gets off topic and never even finishes the lesson so therefore you're already behind. The only semi-good thing is that he always pushes the test back because he is so behind. Usually he gives you an assignment ever class on top of the online homeworks and studying. DON'T TAKE
Prof Malwitz really does care about his students, even though it doesnt seem like it. Hes always available to answer questions outside of class and is willing to work with you on your grade. His lectures are slow and boring but if you listen to them he teaches the material very well. Theres lots of HW, but you can do it until you get a 100.
In the beginning of the class I wasnt a huge fan, but as time passed I began to enjoy him much more. He can be lazy sometimes, but when he actually decides to teach he is very through and clear. Also gave extra credit on most tests, but claimed he only did so because it was the first semester of completely online classes and he felt pity for us.
Although there was a lot of work in a 8 week course, Professor Malwitz helped out a lot and really wanted his students to pass. Id be lying if I said it wasnt tough, but what math class isnt? Pay attention, and dont be afraid to reach out and email.
He is very difficult in class; however, once you reach out to him outside of class, he is the sweetest human. His tests are not hard at all, SO MUCH online homework. Before Corona, he took attendance every single class, so dont skip. After corona, he was VERY understanding about deadlines and exams. He is a little slow at getting grades in though.
He doesnt know the material but expects students to know it better, he makes you rely on 1+ hour long videos on the notes that you have to watch outside of class, he spent a whole class time doing <5 questions on a 70 question review, no curves, no extra credit, notes are complicated and confusing, lots of wasted class time.
gives 8 different hw due on sunday of thanksgiving break. always gives hw daily. hws tend to take 30min-2 hours on each assignment. would not take again but hes pretty much the only prof that at blinn for most math classes
here's the thing. he is not friendly in class but if you find him outside of class he is. i got a text in class ab some sad news & i read it bc i needed to know what it said & he embarrassed me in front of the whole class. i wish he would have asked after before assuming im just not listening. he is also homework heavy & has been known to be rude.
Professor Malwitz taught quite a tough course, and overall it was a little difficult until the interest unit. Once it got there the class fell apart. The final was extremely difficult and we weren't allowed to use lined paper... which was very strange and unhelpful. Malwitz as a person is very sweet and caring, but his teaching style isn't it.
The course material was very difficult at times, and Malwitz made it even more so. Lectures often have him going on tangents about random things every 10 minutes or so, and he will not provide grading curves even if half the class failed a test. I had to teach myself most of the material this semester.
hes a very good teacher he cares for his students and that they actually learn something hes funny and keeps the class entertained if you can take him
Professor Malwitz was a fun professor. He likes to talk so his lectures can be long, but he makes them interesting. He gets sidetracked easily so sometimes he doesn't finish a lecture so he will adjust his plans to accommodate. He really does care if you learn, so if you need help he will make time to help you and make sure that you understand.
MATH 1324 would have been easier if he would have actually completed the lectures during class. He talks a lot and gets side-tracked easily. Will make you finish the lessons on your own time by watching his lecture videos. However, his tests were relatively easy, if you studied from my math labs. You have to be on time.
Goes off topic so many times during a lecture and makes you feel ashamed and stupid if you are wrong. He spends a good portion of class time talking about restaurants and his personal opinions. Would not take again.
Please do yourself a favor and save yourself from this headache of a class. He does not teach at all in class, rather he does what he calls a flip model where you watch videos that stretch anywhere from and hour to and hour thirty per video. In these videos he does not explain well at all, and has many mistakes in them. He takes weeks to grade too.
Uses a "flipped class model," meaning you watch lecture videos on your own time while class time is instead used for 'studying', which usually turns out to be the professor giving his opinions on completely unrelated things and correcting mistakes he made on the homework, which happened often. Took weeks to put in grades.
Great Professor. He truly wants to see his students succeed. It is a Calculus class so it will be hard as expected but he makes it achievable for all students and will take any time necessary to help you understand a concept or work out a problem. Highly recommend, I took him for 1324 and 1325
Mr. Malwitz is a good person, but an horrible professor. I highly recommend you not take him, he doesn't teach in class at all you have to watch videos and do homework and quizzes only test are in class and he spends loot's of time going over stuff completely unrelated to the class and takes hours on single question.
Mr. Malwitz is a odd dude, but he really does care about his students, and goes the extra mile when asked for help. I've never been very good a math but mr. Malwitz real does making things interesting. Just besure to work a little ahead and have a list of things that you need help with because he's more than will to address any issues during class.
Barely ever taught in person, used lecture videos from 2 years ago to teach and doesnt act like he cares or wants to help his students. do not take this prof
absolute trash, does not teach, disrespectful. please take someone else he makes you angry
I have always been a straight A student in math until I took his class. He makes content far more complicated than it needs to be and if you do not do it his way its incorrect. He makes you feel stupid if you answer something wrong and wastes all of your class time talking about the foods he likes. The worst class ever. He doesnt grade on time
Mr. Malwitz genuinely cares about you as a person. Was accommodating on more than one occasion to my circumstances. Since I know you'll probably read this, thank you. He is, in his own words, "insane" but a great teacher. I am bad at math and will probably barely pass but it's calculus; it isn't easy, but Mr. Malwitz wants you to succeed.
Wants students to succeed, and will break down concepts in more detail during office hours. Lectures had mistakes. However the mistakes he made helped me see where/how errors can occur. Very straight forward with grades. Tests are hard, lots of homework, but overall a logical and reasonable professor.
I highly recommend not taking this class with Professor Malwitz. I have taken his 8-week course and throughout he was very unhelpful. For a class this fast paced he was very unhelpful and very rarely did he teach during class. He will go on tangents for a good chunk of the class and then will be surprised when the entirety of the class does bad.
One of the worst professors I've ever taken. He does not help whatsoever. He doesn't teach during class and talks about his life instead of teaching. Terrible at getting things graded on time. He will make you feel stupid if you answer a question wrong. DO NOT TAKE.
He really does care about his student. He goes off on long tangents but they all carry some valuable lesson. I was in his 8-week so it was very condensed and lecture heavy. He made sure to check w/ the class before assigning any video notes outside of class. Homework was due the day of each exam. Do the exam reviews for each test, they help!
Mr.Malwitz is a good person but not the best professor, he often spends alot of class talking about everyday life. Which is fine, just not when you are trying to pass the course and actually wanting to do well on the exam. Also never received our last test that he said he would assign during the break that he forgot about during the whole semester
Did a 16-week course and really enjoyed it. You do have to put a good amount of time studying for tests. DO THE TEST REVIEWS!!! They really help. If you understand the reviews, you will get a B or higher on every test. His online videos help A LOT.
dude changes his mind every two seconds. he changes due dates, doesn't post a lot of things when he says he will, just honestly lies a lot. you also better show every single line of work, because he will count off if you don't show even the most simple steps. don't take. he also blabs on too much about nothing, which no one cares.
Do NOT take. Constantly rambles. Degrades your questions in class. Would rather answer questions with a judgmental answer. Will respond to emails in 30 business days. Will grade your assignments down to the comma, so don't miss one! Will tell you, you can pass if you do the homework, lies. Not sure how his class works pretty sure no one passed.
Avoid Malwitz at all costs. Shows up everyday complaining about his life & will talk about that instead of course content. Grading criteria is inconsistent & he will take points for things as small as a missing comma + takes forever to grade. Degrades questions asked in class & promises to post resources and never does. Horrible prof!
exams are very difficult
Malwitz just is not a good professor. If you can avoid his class, please do.
Professor Malwitz is a good person and understandable, however he is an incredibly tough grader. I would lose so many points on exams over the smallest thing. If you are not the best at math do not take :(, I had never received such a low grade in my academic career.
DO NOT TAKE. I sent him countless emails and have yet to receive a response. He also graded hard; if the work wasn't shown the way he taught, you got it wrong. He is also very snarky and comes across as uninterested and rude.
Awful. Me and a few other people found out that he doesn't grade fairly. He will grade differently based on if he likes you or not. He would waste 45 minutes in lectures telling us how he doesn't have money and hates paying child support, etc.. Not helpful, no extra credit, and not lenient. Don't take.
I took Malwitz for my calculus class. The Test are hard, the quizzes are easy, the homework is a lot but straightforward, attendance was not required, the guy was caring and knew his stuff. I just didnt study or go to class. Tough grader, but explains why pretty good.
Prof. Malwitz is dope. Dude is a YAPPER. Teaches the material well. Goes on tangents a lot. Sometimes it led to us having to watch his online lectures on our time. They are easy to understand too. Homework is easy too.
if you do poor on the tests you're screwed because there's no extra credit. doesn't teach well and 75% of the time complained about his life and always got behind on grades. if someone asked a question he would growl and seem irritated over explaining. is very nitpicky on tests so better show all ur work or u get points taken off.
Professor Malwitz is tough but caring. The workload is heavy, and he grades strictly, but he genuinely wants you to succeed. Attend class, complete assignments, and use study tools like Unstuck AI - it really helps.
Professor Malwitz appreciates participation; he has a certain kind of humor, and once you connect with him, he's a lot nicer and more approachable. No extra credit, but if you complete the homework and study for the test. There's no reason for you not to pass the class.
Professor malwitz never seemed to stay on topic in class. Which would lead to us falling behind. When we would fall behind he would rush things and not explain properly. He grades the test extremely hard and spends one day covering 3 diffrent chapters which causes it to be tons and tons of work a day. Do not take if you need extra time to learn mat
I was nervous for his class because of the bad reviews but he is a good teacher! To pass his class you do need to put in the work and study. He explains things very well. Ive never been good at math but he really helped me learn. Go to class it helps a lot.
For the time I have taken his course he seems generally uninterested in the subject at hand. His grades rely HEAVILY on exams, so if you have test anxiety your screwed. The homework itself is not difficult and time is given for the exams. He does not offer any extra credit and rarely curves graded under any circumstances. Avoid if not good at math.
probably the worst math professor i've ever had, his homework assignments are nothing like the notes we take in class so i cant even do some of the homework because we never learned it to begin with. he talks about random irrelevant stuff half the time and im not alone in saying that he dosent teach well, he will blows through the notes too fast...
This guy blows through the notes in class way to fast for anyone to even keep up. his homework is always like 15 ish questions with like 5 parts per question. how he teaches is so wack that i personally believe he shouldnt have a job teaching. so many issues not enough word limit.
He is horrible at teaching and will spring things in the homework that werent discussed in the notes, goes on off topic rants all the time and cant stay on topic leaving us to fall behind, Do not take this class
my friend says he's really hard and wishes he has a diff professor
not good at teaching. He goes on irrelevant side rants so I find it very hard to listen and respect the lecture. Not very friendly when asking for help either. I have taken stats in hs and I learned way better then than I do now (bc of the difference in teaching). homework are too long
Does not give extra credit, is very rude to certain students, takes weeks for him to grade exams, and will take points off for misspelling a word. Would NOT recommend, would give 0 stars if possible.
He is a terrible teacher. I had to teach the entire class to myself and felt unprepared for everything. Every time I asked a question, he tried to make me seem stupid. He gives no extra credit, and the class is extremely test-heavy and overly difficult for no reason. He is an incredibly harsh grader as well.
Doesn't do extra credit or bump your grade point average. Half the class even dropped
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I decided to take this class at Blinn because I thought it would be easier than A&M but no. By the end of the semester over half the class dropped. I have never put so much effort into a class in my life. If you take this class, good luck. I promise you any other professor will be easier than this guy.
Personally, I don't know why these people are rating him so bad. I have Prof Malwitz for my online stats class and he's great. The lectures that he records are so funny and is very easy to learn from. Love this guy and wish I had more classes with him.
