he was rarely in class and when he was, he was usually late. i never recalled him going up to the class and actually teach something. his class was just a waste of time...

The worst teacher I have ever had! I took him for an Internet class and he not only was unclear on the directions, he was rude and did not care at all about his students. When I would ask him questions on assignments he would be very sarcastic with me through emails leaving me more confused than before. Then he would fail me for not doing it right.

Marbut is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is completely unfair and you should avoid his class at all costs. He told me that he would allow me to re-post an assignment on Blackboard, and then he wouldn't turn on the attachment option. I had him this semester online, it was the worst experience ever. he never went over the text, only cared about thesis statements. I asked him several questions which it took at least 2-3 weeks for him to answer(by then the deadline was over)

Robert is WORST professor I've ever had, and that's even because I take classes at UTSA also. He isn't helpful. I'm currently in his class, I know I currently have a good grade,however thats not because I've learned anything, its because I show up on time and sit there bored. He should be banned for teaching all together.

I am sure this class can only improve with diverse ideas and energetic students. This professor is not an easy A. It has been noted previously that he requires a information card to be filled out with personal information. Don't share anything about yourself that you don't want others or the government to know. This course has potential, be warned.

Your grade is based on a ridiculous system of attendance. One absence or two lates, the highest possible grade you can make is a B. He says you can make up meetings but makes it impossible for you. I am not a slacker but I felt like he labels everyone a slacker and makes you beg to be taken seriously. midterm and finals are eleven page essays that require 4 to 5 thesis statements. The most bothersome thing was his unwillingness to explain.

Where do I start, Mr. Marbut is horrible teacher. He focuses on making the class a “Strict Environment” and when it comes to communication, he is horrible.

Government... this is more like Engish class. Expect at least 1 essay a week plus discussion. Tough grader will deduct major points if you just have a typo. Worst teacher I have ever had. He is very unclear on his feedbacks and in my opinion does not like to hand out A's period.

In the joint soc class, he would talk for the entire two class time block period about basically nothing. When he gives assignments he would give very vague instructions and when you would ask for clarification he would just say to "be better than the other groups". Midterm and final are a JOINT ESSAY group project. AVOID his class if you can.

Mr Marbut is not very helpful at all. He had a hard time answering the most simple questions. I understand I am in college so I know there will be a lot of homework, that is cool. However, if I ask a more specific question on what you want for this particular assignment then break it down a little bit more.

Took the online government class. So many papers, dear god. Pretty much the only thing you be getting graded on is writing papers, and if you dare mess up the MLA/APA formatting, prepare to fail, don't worry about actually learning the content because that is not factored into the grading. The professor doesn't do a good job at stating expectations

All these comments are true, he is very strict and there is a paper & discussion due each week. Final and midterm also consist of writing. Doing the work is not hard, but he is a very tough grader. One small mistake results in a bad grade. He also has no recmorse if you turn in anything one minute late, it's a 0, no second chances.

Ridiculous rules with formatting. If you don't underline your thesis, even if the rest of the essay is nobel prize worthy, it's a zero. I've been doing work cited in one way all of my life yet when I got to his class he told me it was completely wrong, overall he puts way too much emphasis on formatting. This is government not English class.

The first week of school on our first paper he accused me of plagiarism and then here in my third week, I asked him for an extension on a paper because I was being hospitalized and his response was "Sorry you're not feeling good. I took the online class, and there was a paper due every week. 15 page midterm- a lot of writing. If you ask the most simple question, he has trouble understanding and will send some random blabber that it totally off topic.

Very strict teacher. He assigned a paper the first week of class, knowing that not all students have their books yet. Was kicked out of his class for being 5 minutes late and had to go to the Dean to be put back in the class.

The work in this class is fairly easy, but he's a tough grader! I'm an English major and pretty good at writing about anything, but never got an A. He will NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK, even if it's problems with the school website. HE'S EXTREMELY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL. Do. Not. Take. For. An. Online. Class. 2 essays per week, mid-term consists of 4 essays and the final is 10 essays on top of the 2/week. questions are repetitive as well. grading for each essay is on a scale of 3 so if you do minor errors, you receive a 2/3, garbage grading scale.

Absolute worst course I've taken, his grading is ridiculous with NO room for error and will fail you over things like "wrong spacing on your citation page". No lecture, just lots 4 page essays a week. Cannot express how upset I was with how poorly done this class is. If your choices are take him or don't take the course, just don't take the course.

The worst professor I've ever had. You have an essay every week, and he uses a 3 point grading scale and fails my paper for the heading being on the wrong side. Very difficult to contact & when sent my documents to an ENGLISH professor I was given outstanding grades other than the failing grades he would give me for missing the date. Terrible class

Not a mind boggling amount of work to do, but his approach to grading/critiquing papers is lazy. Three point system for one paper due each week, mess up one small detail and you fail. Seems like he is just filling a spot and collecting a paycheck, do not recommend.

Im an English major. Hes so tough of a grader Ive had several panic attacks. He is accessible outside of class but I recommend texting him because he wont answer emails. 1/10 recommend. A core course shouldnt be this hard. And I love writing. Do not take his class.

Marbut assigned an introduce yourself to the class on the first day online. When I submitted mine, he said that I plagiarized my introduction because it received a high score from Turn It In. He then stated, If it happened again, I would receive an F in the course. I wrote about my OWN college endeavor, hobbies and a little about my family.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! The first week he brought my ENTIRE classes grades down to an 80 due to unclear instructions. 2-4 page essays every week graded score of 1-3. If your content is great but he doesnt like your thesis statement you make a 1 and will fail. I made an A in Engl. 1 & 2 and have a 4.0 and was failing this class within 2 weeks.

I would highly advise to not take his class. He's a tough grader who leaves no room for error when it comes to his papers. He fails my papers because he doesn't like my thesis and tells me to "see the syllabus," even though it does no good job of elaborating. He's not a professor and he doesn't teach his students to be better. Don't take this class

The worst professor ive ever had. His instructions and feedback are super unclear. I am a straight A student and have a C in his class because his grading system is awful. You get a total of 5 points a week, so if you fail 1 time good luck bringing the grade up. Do NOT take him for government or any other class he has honestly.

Just very strict on his grading of papers, doesn't let you know what needs to improve just gives vague feedback with "failure" type remarks.

Professor Marbut is horrible at giving any sort of feedback, he is also extremely rude with you when you question him on any grade you receive. There are 2-4 page papers due every week, plus one discussion post, he will just tell you to read the syllabus if you dont like your grade.

He doesn't teach anything, just tells you to read the book then gives you arbitrary opinion prompts that have little to do with actually learning government, and his feedback is only ever based on MLA format or grammar. Terrible class, terrible teacher.

Grades are done on a 3 point scale, so you either get an A, D, or F on every paper and an A or F on every discussion post. The papers are mostly opinion pieces and have little to do with the reading. He was extremely rude and disrespectful in his feedback when questioned about his grading decisions. I would not recommend this professor to anybody.

I dont believe that he is taking this semester seriously. We havent been prompted to read the textbook at all, which is shocking given the prior reviews. Half of the class doesnt even show up, probably because its discouraging to go to a class that you learn NOTHING from. Please read his Wikipedia BEFORE enrolling.

Took this class in the summer and always emailing him about his assignments and reasoning for his grades but was always disrespectful. First assignment was an intro of ourselves and got 1/2 points when I provided everything asked. It didn't get any better so it got to the point of me dropping the class which was hard for me to do as a good student

He gives long lectures each class and it's hard to obtain any information. There's no power points given to be able to look back on. When writing essay's, he doesn't help or talk about it because it would be "unfair" to other students that we are receiving extra help. He'll only answer questions after class about the essay's the day that it is due.

I cannot stress how easy it is to fail this class. For those who are not confident in writing abilities especially MLA formatting you are going to struggle a lot. His assignments are heavily writing based and he grades extremely harshly.

All the assignments you basically have to do all semester is just making essays and discussion posts. Seems easy right? Wrong. It is impossible to ever please this guy with the essays you submit. He only grades you for how you format the essay, not the things you write about. It is so unfair and it feels like a waste of time writing essays.

Follow the syllabus and youre fine. I dont like the professor because i turned in a paper on accident, relayed that information to him and sent him the work via email and he wouldnt accept it, and said should of read the directions carefully. he got me good, ima end up failing (my fault obv) and it made me and my uncle have a good chuckle about it.

It's very paper heavy. Weekly discussions are graded unclearly- you will mostly get 1 point for completion by criteria, 2 points are rarely awarded on an unknown basis. Additionally, paper grades are graded mostly on format, not body paragraph content- key takeaway is; not really a GOV class, but it's an easy GOV credit if you're a good writer.

During a 2 month course,I wrote 28 essays, not including an 8 question midterm and final, where every question requires 2-4 pages. The course is relatively easy, but expect to be writing complete essays every 3 days.He doesn't read your paper; he only cares if you underline your thesis and maintain MLA format. the guy isn't teacher/professor material whatsoever. the way this guy talks/comments on your work is so weird and cringe-worthy. i remember sitting and looking through his comments he made on my paper and i knew from the way he only seemed to care about my essay FORMATTING and not material made me withdraw within mere seconds. don't take.. please.

Not government, but certainly creative writing. Learned absolutely nothing- some papers weren't government topics. He's ridiculously picky about less important things- like hyperlinks turned blue in citations. Overall easy course, but he asks the student to perform useless tasks and grades the thesis statement and format- not content of the essay.

Loved the class, could not stand the professor. Shame bc I loved his teaching style. Very few assignments, two major group projects, besides that grades were participation and attendance. Lots of discussion, guest speakers, and a field trip. My final grade: A+. But the professor is the most entitled, condescending, and rude professor I've ever had.

He disregards any concerns you bring up to him and does not care if you pass or not. He is a difficult professor and does not care to help students struggling in his class. This guy is a JOKE for a professor! The horrible reviews are absolutely right! You'd think this was a graduate level Writing Lab/course based on how he critiqued format. Did what I had to do to pass the class last semester (and I got an A! so you know I am not a slacker!) then started a grievance. Skip this joke's class at ALL COST!!!

This class made me want to die inside and outside, writing a paper every single week it was not worth it. I would fall asleep in his lectures because his voice was monotone, and his grading for the papers were dumb. As well as the discussion post were not worth it. I would pick someone else to teach you fed. government, someone who actually cares.

He claims he is very strict, he is very lazy, he assigns essays every week with no resources. he follows a certain grading criteria and only that criteria, he does not go beyond to check the effort, time, and material that you present, he only sends pre made messages as feed back.

I turned my final in yesterday and I worked extensively on it. The whole semester he'd take points off for insignificant things such as margins, when I would engage with the material very well. 12 pages 8 different essays, I put a lot of effort into it, and he gave me a 76. I didn't miss a single assignment and wasn't late but here I am with an 81.

Do not take this course expecting a professor that is going to teach you. He places modules on canvas and that's about it, he will pick your work apart as though he is an English teacher but offer no information on the topic at hand. He is better suited to teach English comp not government. Then again he isn't much of a teacher. Do not take.

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR FOR FULLY DISTANCE! He assigns you to write an essay every week and you have to perfectly fit it into the rubric. One small mistake will cause you to get a bad grade. I've tried emailing him for extra credit and he wants people who are failing to go to a council meeting for two hours and write another essay.

This professor is not responsive when asked for help. He is only concerned with formatting, my advice is when he grades you incorrectly because he will to reach out and be persistent. He will accuse students of AI when it is not. He's more of a writing Professor than a Government Professor. I do not recommend this course.

Eight 2-4 page papers, eight discussion posts, two ELEVEN page papers. The 8 papers were only given 3 point quality after all that effort. Writing heavy course, with very strict grading.

I was fine with it at first, but after getting accused so many times of my writing being AI even with me showing him evidence, I could not take it and had to drop the course. Every single little detail matters apparently. I am almost sure he doesn't even read the essays and just plugs them into AI detector.
