Amazing teacher. Taking him again next semester if I can register while his class is still open

Professor Marchie is an excellent teacher. Ocean County College needs more teachers like him. What's really nice about him is that he is always willing to help. He has a great attitude and is respectful towards his students. Fun, enthusiastic and energetic.

By far, the best professor at OCC. He jokes all the time, especially if you have unusual people in your class who know everything about anything! Definitely take him! I never understood this class before I took him but now i'm passing and I still remember stuff he taught the first day. Coolest & nicest professor ever! DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!

I like this professor a lot. I like his beard. It talks to me in class some times. One time a student didn't like his beard and his beard devoured that mans soul. Overall I like the way he teaches it's clear and fun to listen too. Also beware his beard. I'm serious if you value your life stay away.

Even if you aren't into History, you will be. I would suggest anybody to take him. He is informative, very intelligent, and has a sense of humor as well. He is impossible to not get along with. He will also help anyone in need of it without a problem. The only suggestion I have is to put grades online, because it is very helpful. Take him!

His tests aren't simple, they are in depth, but if you go to class you will be fine. Only one major paper. I'd recommend to for anyone. Wish all professors cared only a fraction of what he does. Took his Western Civ. online and the course was good and pretty easy! I didn't have a problem with him at all... until the end of the semester where I e-mailed him my final work and never got a grade for them. I e-mailed him and I never got a response. Other than that he was helpful and a good teacher.

Class was fun. I enjoyed coming to each class. He was nice and helpful. Doesn't teach the class like a history class. Will go out of his way to help you if you ask.

Great professor and even better guy! I took his class Wednesdays at 8 am, and to me, it just flew by. Plus, he gave us 10 minute breaks every class around 9 am. I highly recommend him, I maintained my perfect history average with him! Take him!

Marchie? I'll start by saying he was the best professor I encountered during my entire collegiate career at OCC. Sure he did talk of his life and personal experiences, but we never missed out on the content because of it. He took time in and out of the classroom to get to know his students, a simple task but scarce at OCC. Take him!

Professor Marchie is one of the best history professors at OCC. I took him for American History I and II. He is extremely interested and knowledgeable about the subject matter and will do anything to help out if you are struggling. He makes history appealing and relatable to people not interested in the subject. I strongly recommend taking him!

AWESOME professor, I look forward to coming to this class every week, I always learn something new. He actually cares a lot about his students and tries to get everyone involved in the class discussion, which is great, idk what else you could ask for. Really a great guy.

Best teacher i had so far during my time at OCC! His lectures were never boring, and for a class about western civ. that is quite a challenge! His exams are fairly difficult even if you review your notes. You get to pick your own research topic. I wish i had him for US history, because his lectures are the best.

If you read the book, attend class and take an interest, this is an easy, fun class. So many students in this class were SO lame. At the very least, read the book so you have an understanding of the topics discussed. Super nice guy/accommodating and very easy grader.

He is as entertaining as he is intelligent, and was able to turn the most dry topics into fascinating and enjoyable lectures and discussions that you don't have to be a history buff to be a part of. He's always willing to help and advise his students. If you need to fulfill a GenEd Requirement, take him!

it is the professor at Ocean County College , he is very understand and love what he does .He care about his job and he students .In just loves to teach other people around him about history now and in the past . He also give essay exam which are kind if hard sometimes and he love working with PowerPoint to make you get a better understanding

I took Professor Marchie for US History 1 and loved it. He is a great guy. Does not give a lot of homework, only a few papers. I definitely recommend him. I am taking him again for another History because that is how much I enjoyed him.

He is a great professor and totally loves what he teaches. He tends to go off topic but knows who to make you laugh. You do not have much homework, just a couple of papers that are short. He acts like he is our age and loves to hear what we have to say sometimes. TAKE HIM!

Never any homework except for occasional reading, a few easy writing assignments, 1 research paper at the end of the semester. Very funny guy with interesting views on government and life in general. Not very extensive notes so you will have to read from the book to pass the tests. Highly recommend him.

TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASS YOU CAN! Marchie has the most entertaining lectures out there. Participation is 35% of your grade, so raise you hand, don't be shy. You can no show up to class and he gives every opportunity for make up, however it is SO worth it to come to class. He sidetracks very easily, but it makes sense with lectures. #awesomebeard

People say you can get an easy A in his class but that is not the case. He will make you work for your grades but is very helpful if you are confused on the assignment. He likes to challenge his students and really make them think. He is a plagiarism nazi and will make sure your papers are perfect, but that is what makes him a great professor!

Marchie was great to have this semester because he wasn't a boring old professor just lecture about history. Make sure to ask him questions in class and outside of class to understand the topic's he is teaching, especially if you get do not understand it. Prof. Marchie is a walking textbook. There is no need to read. Listen, participate & follow his slides. He encourages students to open their minds & form their own opinions,perhaps this is what is meant by previous posters referring to his political rants? I found it interesting the way he was always able to relate modern society to the past.

Marchie is one of my favorite professors at OCC. took him for Western Civ last semester and i'm taking him for US History this semester. He does have political rants, but it's all in good taste; it is important, after all. He's super passionate about his students and his job. But beware: if swearing offends you, DO NOT TAKE.

Marchie is a must take for History. His ability to break down complex events throughout world history and make them memorable and interesting is a huge plus. He is helpful, provides feedback, and offers additional resources past class time. He also heads the History club and several study-abroad programs!

The only class-specific note I have is that the pacing of the lectures did not correspond with the syllabus-- but the lectures were still interesting and pertinent to the class (and world) at large. If there was a 10 Star option, Id give it to him. This dude is extremely passionate about what he does and genuinely cares about his students. He lectures a lot but it is all relevant to the world we live in and history as a whole. This is one of the few classes where I actually learn important things. Show up, study lightly and you will pass.

Professor Marchie's African American History course could stand to be more organized and structured, but that isn't his style. In order to get all the info, you have to pay close attention. That being said, his class is very fun and he is very chill and he's um... easy on the eyes, lord have mercy. His glorious beard is the best part of the class.

I took him twice and never had any issue he is always there when you need him. All those negative comments are just horrible. He is a rare gem OCC are blessed to have him. he's a really nice guy and you can tell he's very passionate about what he teaches. he just wants to help his students and wants them to do good and it's really obvious. I think his class can be kind of confusing at times, but at the end of the day he just wants his students to do good and he's always available to help.

I took AP US History throughout high school so history classes are always a breeze but Marchie constantly brought up uncommon and new topics and made it so interesting. He is very relatable and extremely kind. His passion for the subject does not go unnoticed which makes it even better of an experience. TAKE. HIS. CLASS.

Hands down my Favorite Teacher ever!!! Everything is explained very well and you will leave this class learning something. Every test is on based off PowerPoints, test are a mixture of multiple choice, fill-in the blank, and open-ended questions.

I love Marchie. He's my favorite professor ever and I plan on taking his class as much as possible. He's really fun and open to talk about stuff that REALLY matters. I seriously recommend him to everyone. even if you hate history, he makes it easy to relate to today. If you're on the sensitive side, be warned, he doesn't sugar coat anything!

Professor Marchie was a real down to earth person. He gives extra-credit and allows his students to talk about what they are passionate about with the class (being that it relates to the material the class is learning.) His study guides absolutely relate to the test so you know what you are studying for will be on the test. Great teacher.

In general, a good professor who is kind and laid back. His class is rarely boring and makes history fun to learn. The only downside is it takes him a while to put in grades, but other than that take his class if there are open seats.

I had him for US history 1 in the summer. I thought it would be a boring 4 hours, but he managed to be very interesting and enthusiastic, despite being a very long class. I passed his class with an A, his class is very easy.

He takes a dry subject like western civilizations and makes it enjoyable. His lectures take us outside of just dates and facts and opens our minds to what life was like in ancient times. He is a professor who cares about the success of his students and is willing to take the time to help. A real asset to Ocean County College!

Really tried to help us learn all the material we missed and was very understanding about the difficult situation we were all put in. He gave great lectures and kept you interested the whole time! One of the best professors I took at OCC. Down to earth professor and all around great guy. Just like any other class you have to pull your weight but he is extremely fair when it comes to quizzes, the midterm/final, and his papers. Gives you advanced notice every time before a quiz or before a paper is due (Only 2 papers). Love to take him again.

I took Prof. Marchie in the fall of 2020 and have no regrets. His lectures are very interesting and make you want to learn more. I enjoy that the class wasn't wholly dependent on notes and tests, and that made it more interesting. This professor also has a relaxed and open teaching style.

Very good professor... lectures were always easy to follow along with. Professor Marchie knows everything. Test and quiz are easy and same with discussions. If you do not like history like me, you will still enjoy his class.

I took his class over the summer as an accelerated course and it was wonderful. I don't even like history but he made it so entertaining. I would definitely take his class again. He barely gave any work and always made sure we understood everything, take his class you won't regret it.

He was, by far, my favorite professor at OCC. He inspired me so much telling the real African-American History in the US that was never told before, it's one of the only classes I didn't want to miss every week.

I've heard nothing but good things about this professor and I was not disappointed. His class was super enjoyable, and I had a good group of peers with me to make the class better. The only complaint I have is he took a while to get back to my messages about assignments. I don't typically have this issue with professors but it's understandable.

Professor Marchie is a cool dude. Very laid back and clearly has a passion for history. There's only a few assignments and quizzes, a midterm, and a 3page paper. This semester all the work was online, but he did mention that that was probably going to change in the Spring and everything would be on paper, so beware.. Overall he's a 10/10. Take him!

Extremely down to earth guy. Often cracks jokes and they truly liven up the class. Classes felt more like a laid back conversation than a college lecture, and I mean that in the best way possible. You won't find a more understanding professor on campus, take him if you need a history class or a gen ed without a doubt.

An awesome professor. He's really fun, friendly and easy going. Gives an exciting lecture full of information in a very enjoyable and interesting way. Has lots of interesting things to say about any topic, so don't be shy to ask even if it's only partially related. Definitely had a great time and learned a lot in his class.

Would bring in coffee and doughnuts every morning for us. The entire class is just lectures so u really don't need to show up. The only work we had was mid term, final, 1 essay, discussion posts occasionally, and EASY quizzes (open book). told us all about the essay in the first week even though it wasn't due for three more months. love him

Genuinely, my favorite professor & it isn't really close at all which isn't a shot at the other professors because there are some other ones who are very good however Marchie is just the best in every aspect. Gives you all of the information you can possibly need via links & notes he already has them up for canvas for you to look at or copy down.

Really great guy, Marchie will def talk the entire class literally til the last min of the class but you do learn a lot. There was barely to any homework in the class throughout the semester. He really takes his students in almost as family, he's an advisor for students, & he's very involved in school & really tries to get his students involved.

Professor Marchie is the best!!! His lectures were amazing and it is clear he cares about students. The workload consisted of a few discussion posts, a few quizzes, one research paper, a midterm, and a final. Learned a lot from Professor Marchie's lessons and class discussions (participation doesn't matter), definitely take his class!

Professor Marchie is one of the best history profs I've taken, even though it is a history class he makes it fun. There is a midterm, final and one research paper that is due towards the end of the semester. He also have discussions and quizzes throughout the semester. I recommend Professor Marchie for anyone that needs to take a history course.

Professor Marchie is a chill dude who keeps his HIST171 class engaging. Online work made it easy, but he may switch to paper assignments next term. Unstuckstudy and the textbook-free PowerPoints were super helpful for acing this class.

I would 100% take his class again. The lectures were very good and interesting. Work load is on the lighter side.

Marchie is the best!! I advise you to take him, he genuinely cares about his students and your success. He gives amazing and interactive lectures and debates, he really knows his stuff. Not much take home assignments, all testing is done at home. Would take him again, give this guy a raise!

Marchie is very knowledgable in his field, and seems to love teaching. Heavy on powerpoints/videos but gives in depth explanations for each slide and video. Has a tendency to get sidetracked but it all circles back to the material being learned. Very personable and funny. Not many assignments, just discussions and quizzes with one 3-5 page essay.

Great guy, super funny and relatable, understands his students. Class is very easy if you pay attention to lectures. All tests and quizzes are online, you can do them at home and whatever time you want. Barely any homework, usually just discussion posts. Overall great class, taking another one of his classes next semester.

Simply put, if you're interested in learning, he'll go above and beyond to help you. However, if you're not, he understands and ensures that the class is both engaging and tolerable. He's involved in school activities, so it's great to seek his advice or information about any programs. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, his classes fill up very fast.

He is amazing and super cool! Grading was a breeze, he was very thorough with what he was looking for but was also 100% willing to assist further if needed. Lectures were very fun and interactive, he used current world situations to tie into the lectures. But, he will lie to you about going to the renaissance fair on campus if its a hyflex class :(

Best professor ever and he's a total dilf lmao. He cancelled class one time for me because I didn't want to skip class to go out and eat authentic Japanese food with my friends who were begging me to skip right in front of him lol.

Professor Marchie took a subject I knew a little about (African-American History) and enlightened me on the topic in ways I never thought possible. The opportunity to do Honors By Contract and essays with him was a pleasure, would definitely recommend and take again.
