If there's one thing about Marrott, it's that he documents every last sentence that comes out of his mouth -- something more members of the Church should be doing.

Knows a LOT about what he teaches - very interesting person. As far as the previous rating goes, you have to figure out for yourself what you take away from each religion professor. I thought he was great. Requires work, but I feel like I have a far greater grasp on the New Testament now. Worth it!

I was excited for you class as well. totally over whelmed by the papers and reading load. didn't learn as much for the sake of finding a way to of makeing the assignments take four hours instead of eight. he doesn't even read the papers.

Yes, there is a disproportionate amount of work. Ignoring that, he's a great teacher if you're open minded and don't take anything he says as holy writ. This religion class in 1/4 faith, 3/4 work. You just have faith, you'll be dead (see James 2)

I don't understand why he has a poor rating, he makes the class so that your learning depends on you. Lazy people shouldn't take this class. He backs up his teachings with the General Authorities and is willing to answer your questions. He has had a lot of background in the Church Office Building and is a great man.

He backs up everything he says with sources, scriptures. You can ask him anything, he's happy to give an answer. Work is easier than before. He takes a lot of time debunking common but false mainstream Mormon beliefs. I think that's where a lot of people think he's teaching false doctrine. Not false, just disagreeable.

I'm a bit up and down on this guy. I didn't like the highly worded papers we had to write but his lectures are interesting and he backs everything up. He is also very cheerful and friendly.

Teaches doctrine, not opinion. I can see two reasons for not liking the class. 1) You're too lazy to do the homework and get a bad grade. 2) You're offended because he proved wrong one of your false traditions or false doctrines with scriputure and quotes from prophets. Takes time to answer peoples questions. Works with you. Very friendly.

Prof. Marrott is an extremely learned man in Gospel Doctrine, Christianity, etc. He has a healthy, optimistic learning environment. He might state his opinion, but these often help create your own on many of the topics discussed in class. He teaches the information in a more self-reliant way. Work load is huge however, especially for a 2cr. Course.

he's always interested in students questions and teaches people, not lessons. it's more important to him that we understand the gospel than that we make it through a pre-written lesson.

I love Brother Marrott to death. I think he is an awesome teacher. He never teaches anything that is his own opinion. All he ever does is quote scriptures and quote general authorities. If you ask him a question he will often give you the exact page number from a book written by a general authority where you can get your answer.

Whoever says Bro. Marrott teaches opinion and not doctrine doesn't know what their talking about. The only time he says his opinion he makes it clear that thats all it is. He teaches doctrine and backs everything up with quotes from the apostles. He can answer any question you have which is a great help. Great techer!

Forget all the haters, Bro. Marrott CAN teach, and can do it well. As far as false doctrince is concerned - there is none! It's false to you because you don't know the gospel as deep as you should ( so you need to take MORE of his classes). If any of it is opinion or speculation Marrott tells you that is ALL it is. He needs to lecture more in class

Great teacher. His 'false' doctrine are direct quotes from Prophets. So if you disagree, it is because you have been brought up on false doctrine. Only complaint is a lot of busy work, but all very doable.

Bro. Marrott didn't focus class time on the subject matter. BUT, he focused his time on student's questions and concerns (whether they were about Christian History or not). The student makes the course here. I don't think he's a bad teacher at all.

Man! He's gotten a lot of heat here... Brother Marrott has a unique teaching style that not everyone will love. If you go to "pass", you won't like it, but if you go to learn regardless of the topic, you'll be AMAZED!!! For homework, it can be a lot, but he lets you work in groups. We had a big group and it took us 15 min. tops! He knows his stuff!

He really knows alot of interesting things, but i think he goes too deep alot of the time. We never did any work in class, but there's a ton of homewrok.

We pretty much dicussed whatever in his class. Its was very intersting some days, and not so much the other days. He gives an average amount of homework. Its not hard work, but it can be time consuming. He has lots of great stories and I really enjoyed his class. Hopefully I can take another from him!

Bro Marrott is a great teacher. He's willing to discuss things you may have wondered about and have never gotten an answer to. He still covers whatever material the class is supposed to cover but keeps things interesting. There is a fair amount of reading, but I've found this normal for a religion course. One of the best teachers on campus! So willing to help! His homeworks appear difficult but you will spend the same amount of time on this homework than your other classes. He knows what he is talking about! Used to work in the office of the Presiding Bishopric! I love this guy! I will take any class I can from him!

No tests, final exam, or midterm, but you have to write 1000-1700 word essays each class. The essays are really easy to do, though time consuming. The class is an easy A if you attend and just do the essays. He's a sweet old man and will let you redo assignments & delete some of your absences if you go and talk to him in his office. Kind & caring.

Bro. Marrott is hilarious! His classes are interesting and you do actually learn. I have to say the workload is pretty hefty, every week you had a 1700 word essay from the long reading but just answer the questions from the text. You have no final or mid term so that's GREAT! Just do the weekly essays and you'll do fine.

Great teacher! Definitely knows his stuff and teaches by the spirit using scriptures and other resources. if you can't handle work then don't take class. Must write 1700 words over article every week(peer graded). It's rather easy just time consuming, easy a if you do the work.

Way too much homework for a freshman (which I am not) workload. 1700+ word essays due EVERY WEEK and 500 word critiques every weekend. Readings are long and hard to understand. Rude peer reading your papers = a bad grade. If he didn't take roll and have quizzes every class I would never have gone. Boring lectures. Doesn't like student opinions.

If you don't like peer grading, deep doctrine discussions and at times, irrelavant discussions, then don't take this class.However, I've learned some essential principles that have broadened my understanding of the gospel greatly.If you take this class, you have to have an open mind and really study out and ponder the things he teaches(D+C 9).

I don't care who you are, you need to take Brother Marrott's class. Any of them. He is an excellent example of how to teach a class. His schedule is the only one that made sense out of all my teachers this semester. The essays are easy, and you get out of them what you put into them. Easy A, and he really /teaches/. You learn a TON, and he's funny.

The questions due every week were kind of difficult, but since they are peer graded, they honestly don't need to be that good. Quizzes twice a week are easy. Final exam is just your opinion! So, you need to do some work, but overall it's pretty easy to get an A.

I really enjoyed comming to this class every day. I found the things I learned could apply a lot to my life. I knew exactly what the teacher expected from me all sememster. The tests were not that hard if you study for them. 5 tests make up your grade. If you do what he says you will get a good grade in the class.

Bro. Marrott is a Great Professor! He lets you take retakes on all your tests, tells you what will be on them, and provides practice tests that have questions from the actual test on them. Very easy to get a good grade if you are willing to study.

Brother Marrott is basically just there to help you read the text book and fill it out correctly. He does a good job of making sure we know what is expected on tests and lets you retake it if you bomb it. He's also really funny when he starts getting off topic. He does a good job for what the class requires.

Really liked this teacher! Yes, the class can be a little boring at times but if you pay attention u can find a lot of funny stuff, esp. when he gets off topic. Easy class. You go in and copy notes & discuss. He also has practice tests online before every test, and he lets u retake it if u fail. If u listen & review its an easy A. learn a lot too

I was pretty shocked by all the mean comments people had on here about Brother Marrott. It's true, he has strong opinions and he dislikes when people disagree with him, but frankly, who enjoys that? I knew the subjects matter and his class wasn't difficult. Just fill in the blanks, study, go to class and you'll pass. He's a good person.

Great teacher for as far as the subject goes. There is a lot of reading and class can be boring but he's pretty easy and lets you retake tests if you do poorly. He's good at explaining the concepts. You will learn a lot as long as you take responsibility for your learning. Great guy and pretty funny. Highly recommended!

Teaches very clearly, very opinionated but that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned, even if I don't agree with him. Very funny when he rants. Gives you everything you need to pass the tests with a great grade.

I loved Brother Marrot's class. He is really passionate about everything he teaches, and I found this highly refreshing. He may seem intolerant to opposing opinions, but honestly he just likes to debate. He has a lot of knowledge on the subject, and if you pay attention you'll learn a lot. Make sure to take the practice tests, they're very helpful.

i found that although the subject wasn't my favorite i understood it's importance because of the teacher. He was very knowledgeable,and liked to be funny. i respect his opinions and openness and desire to help.

His test are REALLY hard. You need to READ! I failed all of the test, but after each test I went to his office and he sat with me and gave me all the answers to the test. I then retook the test and got all As.

I do not recommend this teacher. His class is way too hard. You're grade basically based on your attendance and test scores. Tests are like impossible. If you study everyday then you'll be good.

Brother Marrott was funny and always willing to help after class. This was the first time I ever learned ANYTHING about American history(I'm from South Africa), I never studied for the class and I got an A. If you find this class hard you're just not trying.

He is a really tough teacher. But after each test, you should go talk with him and he'll help you with what you got wrong, and then you can go retake the test and improve

I loved im. The class wasnt too hard and he is so funny. He is willing to let you retake tests and go over the answers you got wrong. the only way to do bad in this class is not do the work, and there isnt that much work. I want to take more lasses from him

I absolutely loved Brother Marrott. He cares about each of his students and he is willing to take time out of his day to meet with you to go over your tests. Lectures were interesting and he was very clear when discussing difficult topics. I WILL DEFINITELY TAKE ANOTHER CLASS FROM BROTHER MARROTT!!!

I love Brother Marrott. He was very understanding when I got a bad grade on one of his tests and let me retake it. However his class does require a lot of work.

I LOVED HIM!! He is SO funny, and he's so willing to help you anytime you ask. He's very good about letting you retake all of your tests, and he's really nice. I really can't say enough good about him. Seriously the best one to take american foundations from.
