if math is not your best subject & you wish to be better at it, take bob! he is the most thorough, but has a laid back attitude. go every day, he throughs really easy pop quizes on days when noone shows.

Mr. maxell is really good teacher. i highly recommend him. the only thing thats hard about the class is the math itself. but he's veryhelpful and NEVER makes a person feel stupid regardless of what you ask

He truly is one of the greats. Pretty clear and very helpful as well as encouraging, which helps if your struggling to keep on task. Gives points for homework and tests are based on homework and quizes. When I took him, If you do good on all regular exams he doesnt make you take the final! Hes AWESOME TAKE HIM!!!

I'm not a Math person, but Bob Maxell made it easy for me to understand the material. He often criticizes the textbook for trying to make the material too difficult to understand, so he'll show you a better way on how to solve a problem. He cares about your grade, so if you see him during office hours he'll go out of his way to help you.Take him.

He is always willing to help you although his classes are large he still is able to get to know the students. I think that he made every effort to make the class interesting. I would defintely recommend other student that don't like math take him because he can help remove the fears that surround math and make it an enjoyable class.

I actually got an A in this class. I work I am married and I have a 2year old son expecting another. Ithis was the last class I needed to transfer and it was a great experience. He was so helpful on the last 3 exams including final he allowed open book ,notes everything. This class was hard but doable.He helps so much .

HW is not collected grades off of 4-5 test and final is optional. Test problems are excate problems from HW and there is never surprises. Ask how to solve the HW problem and u will have the answers to the test. Quizes not overally important Easy class but not too easy. Overall Wonderful teacher, and wonderful human being + great sense of humor

This inst. tries to make the class as easy as possible. HW wasn't collected, but doing it helps (obviously). He maintains a wikispace where he posts practice exams which are VERY helpful as some questions are nearly identical. Final was opt. if you're happy w/ur grade prior to Final. He's going thru a lot personally & yet only missed 2 classes.

If there would be a perfect teacher Maxell is not the one because he was a cowbay in his past life, but if your looking to get an easy "A" without no homework and attendence and only be graded on ur tests and being able to understand them you have come across greatest teacher there is; simply the Best of the best. He explains all the problems with clarity and gives you more than one way to solve an equation. Also, he is always available when you need help and not too strict about the rules in solving a problem. Daily homework is not required in turning in, but can tell who does their work by your test scores.

EASY class!!! I hated Math prior to taking Prof. Maxell. We've taken 1 test so far which I got an A, Homework is not collected. 3X5 cards are permitted during test, what else could you want?!?!?? TAKE HIM!!

I took him a few years ago at LBCC. He taught well and was always available to assist further if needed. He introduced me to personal finance that I use today. I graduated years ago after transferring and he's been one of my fav. professors.

Mr Maxell is Great, I took him for 110, and now 130. He has actually made it understandable for me, being that I was so terrified about math. He allows index cards for Mid term/ final. Sometimes a little boring, but who ever said it was going to be FUN!!!EASY CLASS-No way of not passing.

I got an An in this class. He teaches very well and changed my whole math perspective. There are study guides that are very helpful for exams. Do all you hw, ask questions & work hard and youll do fine. If I survived and everyone else, so can you! Get an A on all your exams & then you dont have to take finals.

I had him for math 110 and 130 and he is awesome! I hate math and im horrible at it but I loved bob and his class. he is a really good teacher but you should go to class and listen it helps A LOT. as long as you try and want to do good in his class you will get an A. Also I admire him for being such a good teacher while his son is sick.

Mr. Maxell takes his time teaching the material and makes sure that everyone understands. He tends to go off the subject at times, but it's all in good fun. He's a really good instructor. He goes through everything very well and clearly. Dont take attendance or check homework. Its up to you to do the homework or not. Gives study guides, and allow you to use an index card for the exams.

Professor Maxell, or Bob as you will come to know him, is an EXCELLENT teacher. I struggled with Algebra all throughout high school and started in 815 at LBCC. Bob is the first teacher who truly gets where and why students struggle. I ultimately earned an A. He is hilarious and his lectures are enjoyable. Do the h/w and the study guides, ace tests.

Maxell used to be a good instructor, but he seems more confused and less involved. His explanations were not as clear or detailed as before. His exams had mistakes on them that further confused me. I think he is getting tired of teaching. Maybe its is time to retire. He is still friendly, but I wonder if he is as sharp as he used to be.

A very nice guy teaching a little different than most math teachers. You really just need to study the study guides and show up to the test but if you have hard time with math i don't recommend him.

I do not care for math..never have and never will but this teacher is excellent...he takes the time to explain the math to you really breaks it down and he shows different ways to achieve the answer he even will help you before or after class if you are having problems....very caring teacher.

Fantastic. If you think you don't have to do homework to pass, you're an idiot or you weren't listening. He doesn't collect homework, but expects you to do it. He says he'll see whether or not you did it when he grades your exams. He's brilliant, patient and makes me want to slap my old math teachers for teaching me wrong. Take his class!

Excellent teacher...assigns homework but it's up to you whether to do it or not..does not take attendance but again it's up to you to show up or not. Cannot blame him if you do poorly on a test. You get out of it what you put into it. Shows different ways of doing the math. If you practice you will get it. I highly recommend taking his class.

I took Bob for both 110 & 130. Bob is a brilliant & funny man with a big heart. I wouldn't have made it this far in math if it weren't for him. He assigns HW but doesn't collect it. He does this to weed out those who have no interest in learning. Come exam day he'll know whether you did your HW or not. Also allows you to use index card for exams.

Robert Maxell is the best math teacher I've ever had! I'm pretty horrible at math, but thanks to Mr. Maxell, he helped me in a way I could understand. He made sure everyone was clear with the problems on the homework assignments before he moved on to his lecture. I don't thing I would have been able to pass math if it weren't for him. Had Bob for math 815, 110, and 130. Excellent teacher. Vary caring about his students. Explains different ways on how to do the math. Comes early for those who have questions and stays after class too. Highly recommend if you are not good at math. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you are not good at math(A+ student) I wouldn't miss alot of days.

But Bob??? You'll know what I mean after taking his class. Bob's a great instructor who takes the time the class needs to understand before moving on. Show up, do the homework, and get an easy A.

Best math teacher I've ever had. Bob's philosophy is that MATH ISN'T DIFFICULT, it's just been made CONFUSING by the stupid ways it's usually taught. Bob throws out conventions (and much of the textbook), and makes the mechanics of Math clear and easy to understand. Treats you like a responsible adult. Excellent availability outside of class time.

One of my favorite professors ever! If you're a disabled student, this is the teacher for you! He is professional, yet funny. I hate math, but he makes it fun. Yes, you do have to study! Study the examples in the book for each topic and then practice. I wish we had more teachers like him. He truly made a difference in my life.

Bob is has got to be the BEST MATH professor at LBCC. If you struggle with math Bob is the teacher for you. I took math 130 twice with different professors and i had to drop the class twice. Bob's an awesome guy, but not for everyone when it comes to the classroom. He takes things really slow, which helps in understanding the material, but it's easy to get distracted in there. Multiple choice exams were pretty sweet, but they make up almost the entire grade. Made math less awful though... I would recommend taking him.

Great professors and understanding. He is helpful and supportive to student in the DSPS program. Make sure to work on the pretest he post on the website, before each exam. To be successful on exams, do the homework problems assigned.

Bob's teaching style is unique. He basically throws out the textbook and teaches you everything in his own style, which works amazingly for some and not so amazingly for others. If math is somewhat interesting to or fun for you, you should enjoy this class. His speaking style and lecture methods are very clear. I wish he taught Statistics.

I loved this class so much! Homework wasn't collected as a grade but he assigned it for your own benefit. He was so funny and made learning math very fun. Doesn't go by the textbook but puts his own style on his teaching method. Easier for those who may not have ever understood math very easily before.

But but Bob?! He says this when he thinks no one understands a problem & he knows those are the questions students may have. His whole grade is based on exams and 5 SLAS. Exams are multiple choice. He doesn't collect homework, but it's very helpful for exams since sometimes he will copy & paste questions from it. Super funny guy. I'd recommend!

The best teacher I've ever had. I could really tell he cares about his students. On multiple occasions he came in on his days off to help me (which was often). He has great stories and breaks down problems in a very easy way to understand. I wish he taught all of my classes!

I loved it, though others did not. Grades only on tests. Assigned HW, but not collected. If you can't make office hrs, he comes in on his time to meet you.

I just took Bob this semester at LBCC for Math 130. At first I thought he was going to be really hard, but he isn't bad. The material itself is hard if you don't study outside of class. Bob himself is a great teacher and really cares about his students. He is eager to help and is always available even after class hours. Would recommend taking!

Bob is a great teacher, no homework needed to be turn in and no aleks (thank god); all you need to worry about are the tests, that is what counts your overall grade in the class. I would highly suggest you do your practice homework and practice exams' to ace the test. I would take his class again.

I've always been fearful of math ever since high school. Upon taking Bob's Math110 class, I was relieved to finally learn that I had nothing to be afraid of. Bob teaches math in a fun way that really helps to understand the concepts. He's funny, kind, caring, smart, and wants you to succeed! I liked him so much, I took him again for Math130.

I had the pleasure of taking Bob for pre-algebra and algebra and just want to say Bob is one of the best teachers I've had in all my college experience. I took him during COVID era and he was very compassionate and patient with us all. Bob takes his time to make sure his students understand the material. Grades are based on hmwk completion + tests!

The class was amazing. Every class he begins with any questions the students might have from the homework. He then breaks everything down bit by bit. I really appreciated the amount of effort he put into making sure we understood the math.

Awesome professor! He lectures at a perfect pace making it easy to understand what he is going over. I have taken him for both Math 110 &130. Easy to get a good grade IF you do all of the homework/do practice exams. I fell behind and am still able to get a B. I wish he was teaching Stats so I could take him again.

Bob is truly a kind professor which is nice for anyone struggling with anxiety and math. My only complaint is that he's sometimes too nice and gets sidetracked with idle talk with the other student so personally, it made it a little hard to stay focused especially as someone with ADHD. There's ample homework so don't fall behind.

Professor Maxell is a very approachable and is will stop the lecture in case students are having questions. He let's you know what's going to be on the quiz and during his lecture his notes are very clear. (This was an online course, still learned a lot.) The XYZ homework website was HEAVY on the amount of assignments.

This Professor made you succeed in math. He wanted the best for you and is one of the few teachers who cares about his students. I am not sure why all these other students are lying on Bobs name because they got a bad grade (c, d, or dropped the class) Bob was a great professor for math 50 and explained everything to where it was very easy to understand. He is the nicest man and is willing to help anyone who is willing to ask for it. He is one of my favorite professors here.

90% exams, 10% homework. He teaches math by a more "think logically" way, and not in a "stare at textbooks and formulas all week". Very wise. Textbook free, uses a homework program but gives a discount code. YES, the class was hard, (as are all math classes) but Bob made sure I was prepared. Also recorded lectures.

Professor does his very best to set you up for success & he really cares. Attendance isn't mandatory but skip his classes & you'll miss a couple chapters since his lectures cover 1-3 chapters of the syllabus. Also uses XYZHomework during this course so be aware that you'll have to pay for a 3-month membership.
