Very hard teacher. Basically forces you to memorize the whole book to even have a chance to pass the tests
He is ok. You don't have to memerize the whole book. To pass his class with good a grade, you have to attend all class meetings, preview the chapters, take good notes, and do the pratice problems for the tests.
very good teacher but very hard If you are looking for an easy grade, do not sign-up.
easy as long as you read over chapters and listen to his lectures. whatever he goes over a lot means that he'll prob put a lot of questions on test and probably essay question!
I believe he is a great teacher. Even though his class was difficult, but I learned a lot. As long as you understand the concept, you will pass the course.
so true, this guy is very organize. His class is not hard, if you do the following: shown up for lecture, read the chapters, understand main concepts, take online quizzes, and most of all do chapters exercises, then i guarantee you A or B. Good luck :)
cool dude, but read the book...
Very organized, very professional. No suprises (even gave us questions that may appear on the final). If you do exactly what he tells you to do (readings and research for the essay), you would do well in his class.
It's true that McLean's tests are hard, but that's usually because most people don't study until the night before the test. He's always happy to help you during his office hours if you have any questions.
If your major is Business,it is a very helpful and fantastic teacher becasue of his organized lectures and professonal knowledge! If you can understand most of lectures and do the study guide. That's at lease BorA! Non't be lazy and that's fine,Good Luck!
Best teacher I 've ever had......very healpful...I will take his 1B at next semeter!!don't expect that's an easy A.......
he will help u if u go to him, reasonable but not an easy "A" class......dont take his class if u are carrying a full load already
This is a wonderful teacher who loves what he teaches as much as helping his students. He is thorough, interesting, and dedicated to student success. If you make learning your top priority, then you will value instructors like him.
He is a fascinating teacher. His lectures are very clear and informative.
A great teacher. He teaches economics in the best way possible. Very clear and uses a lot of examples to clarify things. His test are challenging but if you read the book analytically you will do good. Very worthy to spend your time in his class.
Tests are hard, good lecture, Not easy to get an A in his class. all tests contained essay. need to spend a lot of times on it.....hope everyone good luck!
His class is quite hard, but you will really learn something from him. Both his lecture and what he expects you to learn (on tests)are clear. He is helpful if you need help. Overall, a nice teacher. I would recommend him to you.
He is a very helpful teacher. test is hard. do the review questions he gave. and do the multiple choice protice in the cd run..a least you will get a B.
He is great! The best teacher I have ever seen. If you are major in Econ, I recommand you should join his class! You will learn much from him
Really have to work, but he knows his stuff and he is really willing to help -- i apreciated his help so much. best econ teacher, and I am an econ major to be!
An outstanding professor. His lectures are really clear and interesting. If you need help, he is more than willing to go over the concepts with you. He's really made me appreciate Economics a lot more. I love his deadpan humor! McLean's the best!

Professor McLean is a very good teacher. He is very articulate and gives excellent lecture. He can learn a lot from him.
Interesting lectures. He tells you a lot of cool info.Explains each topic VERY thoroughly.Pay attention in class and read your book.A+Teacher.Very Helpful if you need to visit him out of class
Dr. McLean is a hard professor, but still he is a fairly good professor. i'm taking his econ 1B now, and it's been really tough. but, i have to say that he's that kind of teacher with whom u can learn a lot! if your major is business, u may wanna take him
he is a very good teacher, his explanations are superb, and his test are not easy, its just perfect for whoever wants to learn some hardcore eonomics, i strongly recommend it to anyone with good studying habits.
(Spring 04) He's a good lecturer, if you pay attention in class and take decent notes than the reading is for review and the tests are easy than. But attendance and lectures are a must. You have to write only 1 paper about 3 pages and that's it. Sweet Guy
he IS a good teacher.. but he was way too hard to understand .. he went too fast and if u miss a day, u're screwed.. if u like challenging classes, take him... but if not.. i dont think its a good idea...
he gives one of the best lectures at PCC. If you pay attention and do the reading, the class is not hard at all and you will actually learn useful stuff too.
attendance and listening in class is a must to pass the class, unless you love to read. you have to read in conjunction with his lectures or you'll fall behind really quickly. he has good teaching skills and is very fair. but his test's are HARD
Tough but easier than some of the other Econ teachers; I dropped a class with another one to get McClean's; he's thorough and clear.
I took both his econ 1a&1B classes. His lectures are good, very clear, a lot of test questions are came from the study guide he assigned u. No extra credit, doesn't drop the lowest test, but give optional test to boost ur grade. Essay on all tests.
He's not kidding when he first says that his class is hard.He is very straight forward. He tells you what you need to do in order to pass his class with a satisfying grade. His tests are extremely difficult (difficult for crammers at least).Be prepared!!
Econ1A.Looks and acts like Donald Trump.I missed 2-3 weeks of his class but he let me back in and I got a B.Interesting lectures(he knows a lot about econ'cs).1 Optional test to replace lowest grade.Easy if you read and understand text!Always@office 4help
He is available for help during his office hours but his paper and tests are hard. Its like he wants u 2 do bad test because he makes the questions tricky on purpose. He's arrogant and wants you to know everything, cuz he tests u on it!
Very good professor, he knows a lot about Economics and teaches in an interesting way, very straightforward and always tests on stuff read and discussed in class. If you are Econ major I would not hesitate to take both of his classes!
boring. and makes you not want to learn.
He is an amazing professor. You will learn a lot if you put the time into the material. Highly recommend!
HE is a great TEACHER!
i don't like him, he makes me wanna sleep, and he looks like he's sleepy himself all the time.
well....great teacher but not an easy one
Makes you not want to learn. when you answer a ? and its wrong he treats you like your stupid. DONT take his class
He was a good prof but lectured too fast (impatient?) in class. He also bullies students unfairly with grading on the essay exams if he doesn't like you so be careful with what you write and how you write the answer to the essay questions...it can make a letter grade difference
he's a condecending little mean f*****. if you dont know what your talking about, dont raise ur hand, and if you dont know the answer, just pray he dosent pick on you. he'll make u feel stupid if you answer wrong..and will just move on without complimenting you if you were right.
There is no doubt that this guy knows his stuff, but if you're looking for an easy A he's not the guy. You gotta earn this one!!!!
A very good teacher. Even though his tests and grading system is tough, you will learn a lot from his class. He got a sense of humor once in a while, but be prepared to put in a lot of time to the readings. Make sure you know how to do everything! He gives out 3 tests, 1 final, and one hard essay!
This guy is good teacher, he knows the material, but he is so hard, so difficult. If you are looking for a decent teacher,to get a good grade without burning your brain HE IS NOT the guy you are looking for.He is a total JERK!
He teaches very well, although he might seems hard to some people but I think he is a really good teacher, very informational, high recommend if you are a Econ major or even a Business major
he is most definatly a hard teacher. he knows his stuff tho, and if you do poorly on a test youre screwed beaause all of his points are based off the 4 tests. GOOD LUCK!
Nevermind if hes a good teacher or not. His tests can be difficult unless you study very hard. I should inform you that he you leaves very little margin for error in grading. Not recommended.
Mclean's class is not that hard if you spend lots of time studying. His tests is tricky, but he is not harsh on grading. He returns papers and tests on time. You can always go to his office hours if you need help. I would only recommend him to people who wish to study econ seriously.
Very monitone, unfriendly, probably has only taught in his life, doesn't seem like he is really aware of the state of this countries economy.
He is a great teacher: smart, intellectual, and knows what he is saying; however, he is a tough one! His tests are extremely hard, especially if you do not study. You have to do the hw, and everything he assigns to you in class.
Aw man was he hard!! Be prepared cause he does tend to bore you. You have to study hard and do the hw even though he doesn't collect it. Tests are tricky
just hard
Did I want to take econ? No way. Did I like econ? No way. Did McLean make it so much easier than it could have been -- yes way! He is so helpful in office hours. I still hate the subject, but he knows his stuff cold and he made it so much more bearable. I got a B, which blew me away.
I learned a lot in his class. The lectures were very informative. He was available before and after class to cover any questions I had. One of the best teachers at Pcc...
he is a disciplinary teacher. you have to study hard, come right on time, follow what he says. if you don't, he will humiliate you in front of students. but if you really want to learn, take his class, he likes student who is eager to learn. and will be nice and patient to those students
take this prof at your own risk, he is really boring and speaks very fast.
Great guy. Very clear and helpful. If you are into the subject and want to come out of the class with knowledge (not just a grade), take his class. He is very kind to the students he views as motivated. He helped me greatly. Thanks Prof. McLean!
His tests, quizes, and midterms are terrible...
If your not an econ major dont take this class! youll realy have to work for that "C". only 3 exams and a state of the economy paper! good luck taking this class youll really have to burn your brains out! not too interesting!
Dude, I went to his office hours so often I could have moved in. I hate econ -- and he was so patient with me. I am forever grateful.
he is good. he teach cleary,so you just follow his lecture. you will get an A. no homework, good!! but you need to read the textbook.
great with explaining material and breaking down info for students. just take notes and read the book or else you'll be so lost.
THE CLASS IT SELF IS HARD, BUT HE WILL PREPARE YOU IF YOU TRANSFER TO A UNIVERSITY. THIS CLASS INCLUDE A LOT OF READING AND A TERM PAPER. IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE HIS COURSE BEGIN THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY PAPER A.S.A.P.
this man walks in drinks his water and doesnt stop talking till 2 minutes before class ends. his tests are hard and he doesnt make econ any easier. he is interesting but at the end its the grade that shows on ur transcript not his interesting topics. the state of economy papers are handed back after the drop deadline so if your doing bad ur screwed
Prof. McLean is an awesome teacher. He really knows his stuff. If you are looking to really understand econ, take him, esp. econ majors. He can be a little dry ,make sure you pay complete attention during lectures, do hw, read, study, repeat and you should be fine. Start state of economy ASAP!
Don't ever take this class. The test is very difficult.Almost half of the class get D/F.
Yes, it's true! The majority of the class will get D/F. If interested in ECON or major in ECON take him. This is a tough class, must study for tests, read and understand lectures. 3 tests and one makeup, one paper - collect data asap. For thos who want to LEARN. If you are not hard working, don't take him.
If you honestly want to learn, take this class. He makes econ much easier to understand then the book and he doesn't belittle his students like some profs. His tests ARE hard, but then again econ itself is hard. If you want a good grade in this class, you REALLY have to study. There's no time to get bored in class (too much info to comprehend).
He requires precise details from us. His essays on the test expects you to give ALL the information that he wants you to have. He is a great teacher overall. He covers the material very thoroughly and lots of reviews, but his tests are killers. No pain, no gain. If you want to succeed, take this guy, but beware of his tests.
HORRIBLE! So boring! don't waste your time/money here.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Expects a lot from students, tells you what you need to know w/o the frills. Tests are difficult, must not only understand but be able to apply concepts. He maintains a very definitive line between teacher/student but is willing to help you. This class seperates those who are hard workers and those who are not.
McLean knows TOO much. With all that knowledge, he has high standards for his students. If you seriously want to learn, take this guy. McLean is the farthest Econ teacher to give an easy A, so dont expect any shortcuts. His tests are killers, especially the multiple choice. Essays require you to FULLY understand the information.
this guy really know what he's doing. i never want to miss his class, simply because he makes econ so interesting. going to his class means that u can speed read the chapter with thorough understanding when u get home. but it'd be much better if u read the chapters before hand. to REALLY do well in his class, reading the textbook is a MUST MUST
very boring, and he is way too saracastic, the tests were very hard, lots of studying required/reading...
He is very helpful, don't hesitate to go to his office if you have any problem. Tests are not that difficult if you pay attention in class. Also, he will give you hint if you ask him during the class.
Before I took this class...I heard that he's hard and I didn't listen to my friends and took it...however..after I took some tests and close to mid-term..i dropped it! His tests were very hard!!!
Don't waste your time and money!!The worst and the most difficult econ teacher i have ever had.Do not take this class!!
Mr.Mclean is a no **** teacher. He knows what he's doing and he knows what he's talking about. I worked for my A, in fact I changed my major to Econ because of him. This is not a teacher for those who have poor study skills; you will fail. If you're a student who can handle the workload, you will find his lectures humorous/interesting.
explains lecture clearly...pay attention in class promise a passing grade...i only read and focus on what he says...i get B...if you want A...read the text..do the questions he suggests...fair teacher...
this is one of good professor. actually i learned pretty much from him not bad
The subject in itself is extremely difficult. He is a brilliant man that knows his sh*t. Lots of studying and reading required. Extremely helpful. Material is just plain difficult - period. You will learn if you listen to this man, but your grade will depend solely on you. Do not take this class during the intersession[not enough time].
Very knowledgeable, knows his stuff. Very professional. Did not give a term paper in the intersession.
I took him during spring 2004. You really learn alot about economics in his class. I admit that lectures can be boring at times though; but just pay attention in lecture, read the book and UNDERSTAND the solutions to the assigned problems and you'll do well in his class.
VERY HARD!!
Very hard class, even not an easy B. You need to spend a lot time going through the textbook and study guide if you want to pass the pass. But he teaches very well; he knows his stuff and his lectures are clear. You should take him if you're interested in Econ, not a grade.
Pro. McLean IS VERY NICE . Class is not that hard . I think people said the class is difficult just because they are lazy. 4 tests (MC +1 essay questions). The lowest score will be dropped. All essay questions in final are given at the beginning of the class. Just go to class, take notes and study what he asks is fine. I've got As in both class .
He is very clear and helpful, but his tests are kinda hard. really need to spend A LOT OF time to study. I really learn a lot from his class. His writing are hard to understand =___= I spent ten minutes to know what he wrote on the board for the fist essay question
very hard! The material was not so bad, the teacher made it hard by not explaining himself very well.
Awesome guy. Hard teacher. But do the work like the smart kids say. If not, you will get a bad grade. Towards the end I slacked off but on well. The essay we turn in.. make sure it has lots of numbers. He likes facts not you talking out of your ass because you spent 10 mins on the paper. :) I got a B, will take for 1b.
If you are lazy dont take this class! You pick up the book and keep u with lecture! i loved this teacher, he knws what he is talking about AND his dry sence of humor makes for interesting lecture! Even though this class wasn't an easy A I will be taking him again for 1B! I recommend him highly!
if you don't want to work DO NOT take this class! he doesn't collect homework so it seems harmless enough to just not do it, but if you don't do it I guarantee you will not get an A. listen to lecture, take good notes, read text book, and answer the study questions you will get an A. otherwise a C at best. grade consists of 3 tests, 1 paper, & fina
Nice man. Funny dry sense of humor. Pretty hard class. 4 tests (1 is dropped) and a final. 3 tests are worth 66% and the final is worth the remaining 34%. Homework is optional but u MUST do it to get at least a B. You learn alot in this class but McLean is very demanding. The tests are not easy. If you dont want to work hard take a diff teach.
Mr. McLean does expect a lot from his students, but he doesn't ask you anything you couldn't do, and he explains the principles of economics very thoroughly. Do the study guide, it is so important, and it's true when he said read the book at least twice. Don't be afraid to ask him questions during office hours or after class.
This is the best teacher i have had in a really long time. He knows his stuff and taught me a lot about the world of economics. Hard class, but you will learn a lot from it!
Out of all the professors I've had my first year of college, he's my favorite so far. Honestly though, if you want an easy A or even an easy B, this is definitely not the class for you. Up until this class, I've been getting easy A's in all my classes.. but for this particular class, I'm actually getting a B right now.
Best Econ teacher ever! Test are easy and he grades fair on the essay. Not a hard class at all if you listen in his class and do all the assigned problems
He's very knowledgeable. He makes economics very very interesting, but it's not an easy class. You have to study hard and read the textbook through. Prepare final essays early!
i seriously advice you not to take his class. he comes in with his lake water and start to talk until two mintutes left for class. consider yourself warn. don't take this class. i got an "F" for this class but with anther professor i got an "A"
yes! it is a lot of work but as long as u do what he tells u to do u will get an A. the paper is not hard if u can find a person who had 19-20points on the paper so that u can read and use as a guide line. recommend for econ & business major. but i took it as a GE class. turns out very interesting.
Best economic professor! Lots of information asked. each time multiple choice, the rest... fill in, short answer essays. NOT FUN.
Very hard!

The most useless, time-wasting class I've taken. He makes a rather interesting subject completely DULL and RIDICULOUS. He thinks all his students are stupid and he thinks he's doing his favors a student by teaching the way he does, but as a student of a private four year institution who took this class in the summer, I can tell you that he's useles
hE IS A HARD PROFESSOR BUT YOU CAN LEARN A LOT.
His lecture is boring. You have to learn by yourself and do all the homework questions. The tests are hard especally the essay question. There is one optional make-up test to improve your grade. You have to turn in a 8 to 10 pages research paper at the end of the semester. If you do not turn it in the highest grade you can get is C.
He's really understandable. He gives you assignments and reading to do. But you don't need to turn in your homeworks. Make sure you read so when it comes to the test, your all set and easy with it. You don't really do much in his class, he lecture and you take notes.
This is the worst professor I ever had. The lectures are boring and you basically have to self-teach yourself everything. Tests, project, and final is what makes your grade. Homework and participation don't count. I recommend another teacher.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is the worse professor. Everything is base on exam because there's no homework. His lecture is really boring and you wouldn't able to understand it. Seriously, you got to self teach yourself to understand it, either way.. You wouldn't be able to get it. His grading is really hard.
He's a good professor. he gives great representation. but it's not easy to get high gread on his class. Trick qestions on the tests. however, If you've done his assigment, everything will be fine. He's great.
Professor McLean knows his stuff, the lectures are well prepared and crystal clear. If you have problems you should talk to him during office hours-he'll make sure you understand it. Homework is optional but you must do it to pass the class. There are four tests but he drops the low score. The paper is very do-able but it cannot be done overnight.
His tests are hard. You have to grasp the lessons on the textbook in order to pass the class. You have to do the reading before the discussion because it is hard to follow his lectures. He teaches interesting lessons but you have to really understand his notes because his tests are tricky. There are only 4 tests.A multiple choice exam plus an essay
his class is HARD!! you really have to study and read the book before the test. If you read the book and understand what he said in the lecture, then you will be fine. Most of the people dropped 2 weeks after the semesters started, so be aware...
the guy is smart and knows what hes talking about. but damn class was pretty hard. he straight up talks economics, and if you dont get some of it, your screwed. definitely do problems from the study guides and read... i did that the first two tests and barely managed a C-... ended up with a not so hot grade
McLean is typical college professor. A bit boring, but very competent. He expects you to really know the material and tests you on it. He prepares you and is clear about what will be on the test. In general, economics is not an easy subject. You have to pay close attention if you want a good grade. I really tried and I only got a B!
he is a typically college professor. he take attendance seriously and his lecture are helpful. tests are hard with combined multiple choice and essay, but if you read the chapter twice and do his assigned homeworks then you will be fine. he very helpful with pre-viewing your essay before the test.read the book , do homework, u'll be ok
Best professor I've ever had. Pushes you to do your best and really learn the material. Clear and objective teaching. If you are interested in learning economics and not just getting an easy A, take this class with Prof. McLean. Excellent!
Awesome.
Mr. McLean is the best! Make sure you are prepared for class so you can participate. The subject is a bit difficult but he will help you. If you don't understand economics by the end then it is your own fault. Recommended teacher!
He was very clear with the material. He covered all the material that he tested on. I liked the class a lot. Read the textbook and understand the key questions he gives; you will be fine. There were 4 tests; he gives one optional test. There was only one paper.
I was dreading taking economics, but thanks to great teaching, I love it now. McLean is exactly what a college professor should be.
Professor Mclean is very knowledgeable and is a no nonsense type of professor. He explains the material in detail and does not mind answering questions. This class is not for slackers. Class attendance and keeping with the reading is mandatory to receive satisfactory results. With that said if you work hard you will receive the grade you desire.
I took econ 1b with professor Mclean. It required a lot of hard work, but I ended up with an A at the end.
Mr.McLean is WITHOUT a doubt a very difficult teacher. DO NOT take this class unless you are serious about economics. Your grade will be based on an essay and tests. Homework does not count however, if you do not do the hw you will perform poorly on the tests. If you are not a good student and take horrible notes and have bad study habits. NO WAY.
awesome professor... you wont regret taking his class. ALOT easier than people say he is!!!
Excellent educator! He is a jewel. Anyone with a genuine interest in economics should study under him!
He is good...serious and sometimes a little humourous...he is always willing to help...u can learn a lot in his class...appreciation to him!
Simply the BEST, Mr.McLean is a smart, intelligent and knowledgable professor. He makes economics interesting, and really cares for his students' success. Economics is hard, so do all the recommended reading and homework and pay attention in class. This is a hard but useful and interesting class, if you need help ask prof. McLean (office hours).
Professor McLean is THE teacher to take for economics. He possesses a wealth of knowledge and makes the class intellectually rewarding if you are interested in economics. Like previously mentioned, his class is somewhat demanding and requires students to complete both the chapters and problems assigned. If possible, avoid falling behind.
he is the worst teacher ever! DO NOT take him. He is strict on attendance &he speaks so softly that u cant even hear from the back. his handwriting is microtiny too. tests are super hard. i keep failing in his test, and i failed his class. he is the hardest econ professor in PCC! take bastani or kim instead.
Professor McLean is not that hard. The problem is that you actually have to work for your grade. I recommend him if you actually want to learn economics. Unlike other professors he expects his students to retain the information. His class does require work, so if your lazy your better off taking someone else.
McLean is an intimidating person when you first enter his course. He is very routine-like. It's easy to fall behind if you do not study for tests. No hw required. He gives an optional test at the end of the semester to make up for your lowest test grade. He's a good professor but the course is nevertheless a hard class. All you need to do is study!
Very Helpful Professor! Great Class! If you read all the chapters twice and do ALL the homework you should do fine. Mr. Mclean is very helpful outside of class and will read over your paper before the due date. If economics interests you this is the class to take, though more than half of the class dropped. Highly recommended but requires work!
3 tests, a final, and a 2-3 page paper, class is super hard and he expects a lot but he is absolutely the best professor, everything he says makes sense and enters your head to stay there forever, he suggests that you read chapters twice and do all the assigned problems. i was able to get an A by only taking notes and skimming through the reading.
One of the absolute best at PCC. Take him if you truly wish to learn, not just get an easy A. He teaches at the UC level, but that's so you get your money's worth. I got an A because I did exactly what he told me to do on the very first day of class. Highly recommended.
I recommend economic and business majors to take this guy. He really knows his stuff. He will state his opinions and will give some financial advice as well. It gets a little boring; I use to sit in front and sleep. His exams are hard and you have one current event essay due at the end. The final is optional[; you'll need to take it though].
To be honest, he meant for us to KNOW the material, not memorize, since he stated so explicitly that knowing it is essential. McLean, you're a great teacher.
teacher is really nice.give a lot of knowledge about what was happening in the world, the one that is related to econ of course. U have to read and understand the material before attending the class so u can understand what he is talking better.
Good professor. Hard, but fair. No big suprise people - if you want a good grade in a college course, most professors expect you to actually study and know the information. Don't fall behind in this class. Read the book, study hard, pay attention in class, and do the homework he assigns! You will learn a lot as long as you apply yourself.
Nice guy but very old. Very hard not to fall asleep in his lectures. Speaks in monotone voice and has no emotion. The upside is that the assigned hw doesn't have to be turned in. Handwriting is very unclear so its hard to take notes. Over half the class dropped within the first 2 weeks. I advise to not take this class!
He's very black and white. He hates his job Dry and Boring. Worst economics teacher: he is smart but doesn't know how to teach, he mumbles & doesn't speak clearly, test are poorly written, has terrible had writing; it's difficult to follow notes, assigns too much reading, grading is way too strict. No extra credit & has strict attendance policy.
This teacher is great if you are interested in business or want to understand how the economy works. You have to pay attention in class everyday. Take notes on everything he lectures. 90% of the test covered in class. with that said, i would say 70 percent of the class is at C or lower, but they dont listen during class. Great teacher, recommended
This is a straightforward class, but you will have to study to pass (allow time). Fortunately, McLean tells you exactly what to study. There is only one assignment. Four tests (scantron+essay) drop the lowest and a final (also scantron+essay). You will need the textbook bundle with study guide for homework. No extra credit given, so don't screw up.
this dude is awesome. he tells you exactly what to do. reading each chapter twice really helps A LOT. also, make sure to do all the problems he assigns. this class isn't easy, but if you work hard you can get a high B or A. the optional test is a must. take him.
He's. So. Boring. I had a morning class and man, it was a trial to try to stay awake every class. Fortunately he's not very interested in teaching so he'll straight up tell you what's on the tests if you're awake enough to listen.
His lectures are monotone and dull. It seemingly looks like he despises his job and views it more of a responsibility that was forced upon him. He's fond of droning on about his younger years, exclaiming how he was always unfortunate. Other than that, he's blunt and frank. Just read the book often and you should pass with flying colors.
the lecture will give more valuable insight than the generic information in the textbook. follow the instructions and do not ask questions before or after the test on the date of the exam.
He can teach u A LOT about economics! Every mininute of his lecture is extremely valuable, if u manage to stay awake (i took 7am class;p). The only problem is, he's mean. He makes the borderline betw, A and B extremely clear, that u have to really stand out to get an A
I loved this teacher. He walked in and went to work. His lectures were beautiful, almost to a rhyme. Please, take him. If you are a slacker, you will fail but at least you will observe an intelligent man speaking on the subject of economics. Take during summer/winter: ONLY TEST nothing else. Your grade is in your power= A. If you are shy, take him
This man is a spokesman for Wall Street.
MONOTONE!!!! Do not take this class in the morning, you will fall asleep FAST.
Awesome Prof! Clear lecture n schedule. Gives you final essay question at the beginning of the course. He is strict and demanding, pay attention in class and do the multiple choices , you'll do fine. curves grade, no extra credit. But he may pull up your grade if you have good attendance.
He is a great but very hard professor. You will be prepared for Econ1B if you plan on taking it. 3 tests, 1 make-up test, 1 research paper (only for fall & spring semester), and a final. Besides the research paper, there is no homework, but do the problems he assigns anyways. There's no room for slacking off. He also curves the tests by 1-2 points.
Professor McLean provides you on the first day, a guideline that shows you how to succeed in his class.Follow it.Voice can be very monotonous, but you should pay attention regardless.90% of the test is covered in class.Attendance is a must. For summer,3 tests,1 optional, and a final. I recommend this professor to anyone willing to work for an A.
make sure you follow his how to suceed in econ 1a guideline!!! 3 tests, 1 assignment, 1 final, 1 optional test. optional test is a must because it drops the lowest test grade! tests are very hard make sure you read the book. assignment was very simple. not recommended for the lazy types.
Teacher is very knowledgeable and clear when teaching. gives 1 assingment, three test, 1 optional to help students and a final. overall very easy and somewhat funny
Extremely difficult. Heavy material. He's intelligent but brings too much into a basic macroeconomic class. Serious effort & time for an A.
intelligent man, gets right to the point. fair test grader but tough grader on the essay. you will learn a lot about a very dry subject. anticipate little to no class participation but he does answer questions during his office hours. he tells you exactly what to do to get an A on the first day of class but it takes much effort.
Mr McLean is hard teacher, but he lectures very well, and he really looks like an economist who works for Wall street.
Really great professor. You WILL learn alot about economics and business. And if either one is your major i definitely recommend him. Thanks to him I know alot anout the world of economics and im way ahead in my business classes. 3 tests. Mulitiple choice and one essay. Pay attenion to his lectures and READ every chapter at least twice. take him.
The hardest teacher you can take at PCC but very much worth it. You have to read the book twice and attend every meeting. An A isn't easy to earn but even a B in his class means you've learned a lot more than with any other teacher. If you're willing to work, this is the class for you. If you're not, avoid him! Very fair and even funny at times.
God, you have to work really hard in order to get an B. Most of the class got C.
Really good teacher that u can discuss economics with. But however, this is a class, he's a teacher, we desire nothing but A. U can discuss deep level questions about economics with him. But he's super hard to get an A.
harder grader, old fashion professor, but he knows what he is talking about. not for the slackers. if you are taking this class for GE stay away. hard class but you will learn . i got an A . a lo of work. no extra credit NONE
Very good professor! He is not as hard as I thought he was, at least not his exams. All the work from this class were pretty manageable unless you like slacking off and wait til the last minute. Take him if you want to learn Economics! Not impossible to get an A, just have to work for it.
great professor. not an easy one though. need a lot of work but you will learn. not for the slackers. stay away if you think you are going to pass by attending only, need to prepare. doesn't collect homework and don't care if you do it or not. you aredoing it for yourself. i got an A.
Excellent Professor but demands a lot from you. This is the type of professor that really prepares you for the UCs.
UM he is great at teaching his material. The lecture is exactly like the textbook. The test midterm is exactly like the homework. The thing that is somewhat hard to tolerate is his bias rants and drop ins during the lecture. It seems unnecessary. I just wished the professor would not base the students so blatantly & use lecture time as this outlet.
Best economics professors at PCC, hands down. Has dry and dark humor but nonetheless still very interesting and entertaining. Explains concepts clearly and is always courteous to ask if class had any questions at the end of slightly more complex models. Not for lazy folks. For the aspiring economics majors out there, you wont regret it.
Excellent professor. Crystal clear lecture.
This dude rocks! I was scared to study Econ because I thought I wouldn't get it but he is so clear and thorough in his lectures. I actually love the subject now. If you are unsure about something you can ask him and he will help you! Super cool dude! Recommended!!!!
a very solemn man. doesn't even smile when making jokes. believes in stupid questions and refuses to repeat himself. knows his stuff and seems to be very into econ, but i still never got it. i got into a car accident and ended up in the hospital and wouldn't let me turn in my paper. basically said that's what i get.
Tough professor. Would recommend for Econ majors, if you're taking Econ 1A, avoid at all costs. Very passionate. Be sure to READ THE CHAPTER before the LECTURE, and it makes the lecture easier to understand. Essay questions moderately tough. No homework, but make sure you read and go over the study guide. You need to push the pen to succeed.
You cannot be lazy in this class. You have to read and understand the book. It really helps to attend lectures, because he clarifies the material on the book. The test is exactly like it is on the book. Get the book! There is a 8-10p research project. I got an A on it. You have to show him you understand the concepts of econ. He is strict.
This class was tough. The book wasn't hard to understand, but you have to read it in order to understand his lectures. His lectures are really clear, and can be funny sometimes. You have to read the chapters at least 2 times. His multiple choice questions are really hard, so do the questions he suggests in the book. The essays are easier.
I was really looking forward to this class and am passionate about Economics. I have never made a C before this class. I attended every lecture and did all assignments. I found the tests to be VERY difficult and the homework was necessary to even have a chance. I got an A on the State of the Economy project after going to office hours 3 times.
One of the best professors at the college.
He is one of the tougher Econ professors but if you really want to learn and want to prepare yourself for a real college class take him. I took him for 1a and 1b and I definitely have learned alot. If you read the chapter, read the study guide, do the assigned problems and listen in class the test will be easy. And he is always there to help
I devoted a lot of time to this class and still only got a B. Its very difficult to get an A, you can only miss 20 points and their is no extra credit. I attended every single class read the book beforehand and did well on all the tests except the final. Try your absolute hardest, if you're looking for and easy A or even B look elsewhere.
He is a cool, funny teacher. You should take him only if you will study other than that don't, you will not pass the class.
He's a good teacher and a nice guy, but when it comes to test time, it's hell. There are only 3 tests total each with only about 25 questions, meaning when you mess up, it hurts. He doesn't cover all the material in class that will be on the test, and he doesn't cover some things in-depth enough that are. Be prepared to study for a good grade.
He's a good professor that has lots of study material and extra credit opportunities. The text book wasn't used that much as his lectures covered most of the material but it does expand upon a few points. He has practice quizzes for every unit in a chapter to study which was very helpful. Tests were based on in class material and practice quizzes.
If you don't have any other obligations, such as needing to go to work every day, having children, or attending five other classes at the same time as this one, he is a good professor (His assignments can be time consuming). If you want to understand economics in his course, he gives you a lot of resources to study from.
