VERY HARD, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE
Excellent teacher, especially his Pacific Rim class.
Very hard class...too many quizzes...
i got a C and it felt like an A, that how hard it was
Good curve. Tough teacher.
This class can get boring. He talks fast and loud.
Tests are very hard (fill-in), but he is such an easy grader. I have no idea how I pulled off a C.
Great teacher. Will stay after class to explain, or have you up to his office. Everything is clear in class. Very interesting class. Curves at the end of semester. Midterm, paper, and final. I recommend class, not easy but not horrible
Don't take...he is difficult. If your a econ major then the work assigned might be worth your time...
I won't lie, he is a hard teacher, but he is smart and willing to help. It takes a lot of effort for a good grade, but the class is interesting and he actually covers all the material. If you show up and take notes, you should do fine. Good teacher.
He is very intelligent and amusing to listen to. His tests are very difficult. I just write anything to fill up two pages and he gives me a "C" with a note "unclear". Oh well. Just rumble on about anything and you'll pass!
Take him if you want to learn!. Cannot pass without studying. His lectures are interesting and important. Got a B and studied very hard. Wants you to understand and is very helpful. Would recomend!!
He is very hard, if you ask him questions he will only give you vague answers that only confuse you more. Changes requirements for paper after it is turned in. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ANOTHER TEACHER. I here there are some good ones.
hard! one midterm, a bajillion-page paper, and final.. good teacher though.. he's nice.. and helpful.. knows his stuff..
He is hard! exams are consist of one long essay and short answers, no multiple choices! i would normally get an A for an econ class, but no materr how hard i try, i got a C from him. if you know how to BS on papers and really want to learn, take him.
Very loud professor, super long paper, extreamly boring class! Pluses, I never read any of his books and did not study much and got a C by writing anything on his test. I fell asleep more than once in this class.
Take this class if u want to learn something.Long paper due, exams are difficult, notes r long and full of information, dont know wat u need to know for his exams.Prepare to learn something in this class.
don't take him for this class. Exams are difficult... If you want to take the class over, take him!!!
Extremely knowledgable about these Asian countries for a white man. Take good notes and study study for the test and final. Paper is 10 pages, but you have plenty of time to complete. I recommend because it is very interesting subject which is good.
Very good teacher, knows his stuff, take him if you want to learn but if you are looking for an easy A find someone else.over all he is a very good teacher
Unless you are in Economics major, taking his class is nothing more than a pain.
Worst teacher at CSUF, I think he gets off making vague comments during lecture. If you beg you might squeek through. No reason to take this class if you are a business major.
Worst prof. ever!!!! Does not provide a study guide for the exams! Exams are VERY difficult. I don't see how he expects anyone to pass his class. Exams are fill-in/short answer/one very LONG essay. Have to read three big books, and expects you to read it for the exams. Like anyone is really going to read and understand econ. all by themselves.
In my 5 years at CSUF, this is byfar the worst professor ever. He is passionate about the subject, but just doesn't know how to teach. Provides NO study guide, and does not give you a review for the exams. For the final, he basically wants to know EVERYTHING that was discussed during the past 16 WEEKS!!! By all means, avoid taking a class with him!
This guy is a horrible teacher. One midterm, one huge 8-page paper, one final, and that's it in terms of grading. The class average for the midterm was 59, and the highest grade in the class was 80. The paper, the average was in the low C's. As you can see this teacher can not teach because everyone is not doing well before the final exam! He sucks
He has to be the worst ECON. professor here at CSUF ever!!! He expects you to know everything and every little detail for the final. I don't think he understands that everyone learns and studies differently. He only gives advice on how HE thinks we should all study. He is EXTREMELY HARD and by all means avoid him at ALL COSTS!!!!!
He is a very nice man, but it is a very difficult class. No papers or projects. 3 Exams and 7 quizes.
I REALLY liked this class while I was in it. I learned a lot! He was engaging and very knowledgeable. BUT he nabbed me for plagiarizm for the final paper because I didn't cite my sources in the paper. Makes sense I GUESS, but I didn't have the intention to plagiarize. Now I'm PISSED. He has no mercy. BTW Tests are hard with very specific questions.
Challenging but engaging class. Mead does a great job of involving the class and keeping things interesting. A lot of work is required though, 2 very detailed exams (with essays), and a 10 page research paper. If you want to be challenged, go for it, if you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere.
He admits hes the hardest teacher for this class. He teaches things other teachers even think is to hard.
decent professor but horrible class. im taking 5 classes this semester, 4 A's and 1 potential F in this class. questions are answered but students still dont understand the subject matter.
OMg!! I am still taking this class. it is so hard. i hope i pass it with the mercy curve
Too Hard.
Really hard class. He teaches so much stuff and continues trying to teach right up until the final! Lots of quizzes are given which is good to study from since the book is absolutely NOTHING like the quizzes or exams. The book is pretty much useless, but then what should you study from? You have to take the quizzes, fail and then learn from that.
he is really hard and expects students to be exact on answer he will take points for even trying. If you could take someone else you should. YOu will get a bad grade if you dont study at least 5 hours everyday.
Econ 332 was ok, but Econ 315 was hard. You really have to study to pass Dr. Mead's classes. They ARE NOT EASY! He is very knowlegable and is always available to help. He grades hard. He curves at the end,but doesn't like to tell students that he curves b/c he wants them to actually learn the material. Overall, he is a decent prof.
Mead is a nice guy and wants to help. There is three big books that he wants you to read for the class I didn’t read any of them. Just go to class every day and take good notes 90% of the test is from his notes in class. The tests are very hard the highest grade on the midterm was 78% but he curves. our class wrote three short papers he graded hard.
Professor Mead is a nice guy, but a little dull. I had no interest in the course and had to work my butt off to get a B. Its not that the material is hard but the tests are extremely hard because all the questions are fill in the blank and short answers. The class is based on 2 tests and 1 dreadful paper. Hard but fair is what it comes down to.
Gives notes from the start of class til the very end. Gives too much info and not enough time to write everything down before he's onto the next topic. He's fair and a good teacher but tests are very hard. No multiple chice - all short answer & essay. Only 1 midterm, 10 pg paper, & final. Good teacher that wants to help but tests are VERY hard
This class is difficult but fair. you are required to read 3 books (almost all). one 10p. paper and two fill in short essay exams. his lectures are fast but easy to understand but there is so much material his notes are just bullets. He has a PHD and is said to be the hardest of all the prof.
Jekyll & Hyde character. Got a B on his midterm, had probs & deadlines @ work, but he wouldn't cut slack on paper due date, so dropped. Asked a few semesters later if he was using same books 'cuz I might retake him. He said he remembered me as "a flake." Guess mommie & daddy paid his way through school. Recommendation: Avoid. I sure will.
I don't recommend this professor to anyone. I attended every class meeting and took notes religiously. His tests are very hard. Unclear as to what he wants students to study for on tests. Lots of reading with most of the material not being covered on the test. Hard work and attendance does not necessarily pay off in this class, very frustrating.
CSU whiners, complainers, losers and flunkies hate this guy. Is economics your domain? This is the guy to take. He is extremely knowledgeable in Southeast Asia and in development economics. Rather than read off a script, his lectures are engaging and include many examples and interesting stories. Raise your hand, you fool, and ask questions!
Hard tests, too much reading!
This class is very hard. He uses three different books, each of which you are required to read almost all of. He also expects you to remember every detail you read or heard in lecture because he is unclear as to what is going to be on the tests. The one positive is that he does seem to know the subject very well.
Insanely hard professor. His lectures are all over the place & is dry when it comes to delivery. 3 textbooks + reading intensive course. The class is solely lecture with no interaction or hands-on whatsoever. There are 3 components to class: 1 Midterm, a 9 page paper, & final exam. Exams are fill-in-the-blank, short answer, & essay. Not recommended
best teacher to take the class with. I never had less than A in Econ, or Writing. his class was first and i have myself to blame. Here is what I didn't do that got me in to trouble. READ SYLLABUS&MAKE SURE U UNDERSTAND IT. STUDY FROM BEGINNING. Start doing your assignment early. PARTICIPATE. TAKE NOTES. class is easy, U just have to work for it.
PARTICIPATE, TAKE GOOD NOTES, VERY IMPORTANT, READ THE BOOK FROM BEGINNING AND DONT LEAVE NOTHING FOR LAST MINUTE.VERY INTERESTING SUBJECT&DR. MEAD KNOWS IT DA BEST.EASY TO GET AN A, ONLY IF YOU WORK 4 IT. IF YOU WANT YUR A TO MAGICALLY APPEAR, U R LIVIN IN DREAMLAND. BIG DEAL TO BE IN HIS CLASS EVERY SESSION, FOR YUR OWN SAKE. GOD SPEED
One of the most challenging and interesting classes I've taken. Knowledgable and helpful. You MUST attend class to do well. Tests and quizzes are mostly on lecture notes, some questions on reading. Start on the essay early. ASK QUESTIONS and PARTICIPATE! It makes a difference in your final grade!
This professor is a ridiculous excuse for the standard of education. He makes excuses for his inability to grade assignments in a timely manner. He belittles students and makes them feel as though their inquiries are not worth his time. The material he tests on is often unrelated to tested material. His justifications for are ignorant. AVOID.
Very challenging but equally rewarding. Lectures are dense but interesting, well planned, and well presented. One quiz, one paper and two difficult tests. The hard part is remembering all the details under pressure. Take good notes and be willing work hard and you'll do just fine. When working on the paper take your rough draft to his office hours!
Only take this class if you have absolutely no other option. I usually do well in Econ but tests are extremely hard, and he requires a 7-10p paper with a lot of reading. I went to every class & some office hours but it still didn't help. The ONLY good thing about him is that he knows his subject well. He just can't teach it. Avoid if possible.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! There are three books each 700 pgs. each in which he expects you to know specific things pertaining to each chapter. Test question ex. is "in chapter 6, book 3, what does are the three specific points the author states about the political climate in China?" thinks this is the only class you are taking during the semester!
Absolutely HORRIBLE "teacher". Sure he knows his subject very well, but he does a horrid job of teaching it. Grades come from 4 places(2 exams, 1 quiz, 1 paper). With so much of your grade depending on exams, you think he would give you a study guide. Nope, he says "know everything". Doesn't even provide notes. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
The only good that came out of this class was me realizing that I wanted to switch majors.
This is not an easy A at all. He knows the material very well. It consists of 1 quiz a week (100 points) and only 5 questions each which sucks. There are 2 exams and 1 final. Exams= 18 questions and Final=24 questions. The math problems one exam are very similar to quizzes. Make flashcards throughout the course to help on vocab part of exam GL
What he teaches and lectures on in class is not necessarily what will be on the tests or quizzes. Class averages on 100 point tests were 18-30 points-not exaggerating. He doesn't cover the same material as other ECON 201 classes nor does he test on what he teaches. Good luck if you get stuck in his class!
This class is not easy at all. The class consists of 2 exams, 8 quizzes (he counts the top 5), 2 papers and a final. His lectures are useless and you need to memorize the vocab words in the book and study the problems in the quizzes he gives you. If you can, take this class with another professor, I was lucky enough to get a B
This class was by no means an easy one. I had a lot of fun but I struggled a lot. I think the only reason I got an A was because I put my all into this class. I was a bit disappointed in the end. Anyways, Professor Mead is fair and very kind and dependable. I would take his class and all the hardships I had in it again if I could. Not for the weak.
Although a tad unorganized and confusing at times he is a great professor. He has kickass office hours and is so helpful as long as he can see that youre sincerely trying. No homework, two essays, and 8 quizzes that he takes your top 5 scores. He posts hw problems & their solutions that are basically copies of what hes gonna put on the quiz
Professor Mead is a wonderful professor but his teaching style wasn't for me. Lectures are long, but informative, so pay attention & take notes. Don't really need the book, but the code that comes wthe book. Tests aren't too hard. I struggled more wquizzes. A lot of online assignments. Two research papers! DO THE PROBLEM SETS (& understand them).
1 quiz, midterm, final, 1 paper. Great guy, terrible teacher. He expects you to know everything in 3 books about 700 pgs each- picks random things from them for his tests. No study guides! Lectures are long & boring and the reading will put you to sleep. Dont take this class if you can avoid it or take good notes - test questions from lectures too.
Professor Mead's class is difficult, but Micro Econ is a complex subject. His class is interesting. If the student is willing to work then you will be successful. He is beyond helpful and always makes time for his student's. Strongly recommend going to his office hours, he is a very nice guy and finds sincere interest in helping his students.
The material itself was difficult but going to class every day and making sure you take good notes are the keys to passing this class. He helps you out big time by giving you optional* problems to do that are basically whats on the quizzes and a portion of the test. Hes very clear in his lectures and you must review. You will work hard to get an A
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! The only good thing that came out of this class was me realizing I want to change majors. Make sure you take advantage of the Mihaylo tutoring center. Study the problem sets he gives you and study all the vocabs for the exam. The final will be cumulative and hard! But worry not! The final could be passed with constant prayer
The class is not easy at all, the subject is hard and you will need to study. But the good thing is that he is constantly offering you help and really tries to make you pass the course.
Don't take this class if you can avoid it. Grade is comprised of a quiz, exam, final, and paper. Exams are all free response and based on lecture and reading. He expects you to read 3 books front to back. You won't know your grade until after the final so it's all up in the air.
He makes an easy subject very difficult. The lectures are very dry and rambly so you may have a hard time staying awake. For an econ teachers he definitely isn't the most "efficient" teacher of material. Tests and quizzes are tough if you don't do the practice problems and he is a very nit picky grader. Don't recommend
Class is composed of 3 things. Midterm, long Paper, and Final (Quiz is irrelevant). He thinks this is the only class you are taking and makes you read and memorize 3 400 pg books that are far too boring. Will ask you VERY specific questions from each book and expects you to know it. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!!! he is helpful but EXTREMELY hard to pass.
Very tough course, but he'll help you if needed. His tests are not based off definitions, you need to apply the terms.
He's the devil!
Overall a very good teacher that assigns weekly online homework. There was 2 midterms and 2 short papers that weren't very difficult. He also gives a lot of practice questions and practice problems to use for the exams! Study what he gives you and you will pass.
Not good at explaining, so outside help (classmates/tutor) might help (if they know what they're talking about). He grades hard on his essays. Do your problem sets and know how to do them - they'll pull you through on quizzes. Know the concepts he focuses on in class for tests(multiple choice SUPER HARD), tests are actually pretty straightforward.
Class consisted of midterm exam, 10 page research paper, and final. Most of the questions for the midterm and final were taken directly from the lecture so take good notes! About 1/4 of the questions were from the readings. He curves the overall class grade at the end.
I would avoid this professor if I could. Class consists of 1 quiz, 1 midterm, 1 Final, and a 8-10 page paper that he will grade you harshly on. I put my all on the paper, expecting an A, and he gave me a 77. Tests are not multiple choice. He assigns readings and he will test you on them. Get ready to work for a B at least b/c the class is that hard
Don't take this one if you can. He is very hard on grading. 3, 700 page textbooks that must be memorized verbatim or you will fail his tests. Study guides have almost no relation to tests and he grades papers very tough. Lectures have almost no relation to tests. Very interesting class and professor is smart, but the class is put together poorly
I took his Economies of the Pacific Rim in fall 2013 and it was one of my favorite courses. I did a term paper on Japan's economic history. The course is a lot of work, but you will come away with a good understanding of the Pacific Rim region, which is of such vital importance to us today in the global economy. Definitely loved the course!
Lectures very boring while trying to get class to participate. Not very good at explaining. Hard grader on 2 essays. Quizzes are easy if you know the problem set. Test are hard make flashcards and know the online multiple choice. I didnt read and ended with a B I would suggest to read though because the people that did obviously did better.
Overall, not too difficult of a class. As long as you read before coming into class, the concepts will be easier to understand. However, the multiple choice on the tests are pretty difficult. As long as you study hard, you should be fine. Ended up with an A- despite average exam and quiz scores.
Great professor! Dr. Mead has an amazing ability to summarize thousands of years of economic development and share a coherent connection between economic events. Lecture attendance are a must because everything said will be reflected on an exam. If I could redo anything, I would have put more into the early essay assignments to get more feedback.
Not the most difficult class you can take. If you do all the work and read the textbook, you will be able to easily pass the class. He is very passionate about the material. There are two midterms + final, online hw, 2 writing assignments, and weekly quizzes.
This was by far the hardest class I've ever taken. I went to his office hours all the time for help and I would still be confused. We had quizzes basically each week and it feels like you never get a break. The tests were hard and the quizzes were also hard so this wasn't a very fun class. I suggest you get study groups and attend his office hours.
If you want to pass the class attend every lecture take great notes & read the books. There are two exams and a paper that determine your grade (paper being 33% of it). It is a very interesting class, but has lots of work and reading in it. If you are looking for an easy class take something else. He is a very nice professor & will accommodate you.
The class itself is not difficult, there is just a lot of information. Make sure to review major events from each lecture! Typically "Numbered" topics he reviews are the most important. My final did not have reading questions, but my midterm and quiz did which made the difference between getting a low C and a B. Make friends and split the reading.
I just took his class this semester and it was rewarding at the end. It is a class where you need to focus and pay attention to every detail he lectures about. The assigned readings and extra articles will help you on the exams. 80% lecture, 20% books. Tough grader, but I mean I didn't expect anything less from the way he lectures and his exams.
Prepare to work hard. Study quiz and midterm when you receive them back. They will be on the final. No multiple choice on quiz or exams. Tough grader on everything.
Do not take. Class is too hard!
Must read three books for his course. Lectures are overwhelming. Study guides posted from other students are not him and they are not helpful. No notes, cheat sheet, or study guides are allowed when taking the quiz or exams.
Grades are never posted on Titanium. Only take this class if you know a lot about the Pacific Rim.
Avoid this professor and class. He fails every student then curves the grade so your grade is up to the mercy of his curve. His test are very difficult and involves mindless memorization of trivial terms. There are easier Econ electives to take.
Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! Does not care if student's pass his class or not. A lot of students fail his class. No curve. Did all the work and study, as well as an essay. Still did not pass the class. This was my last class to take so I can graduate. Now I didn't graduate because I have to retake this class again.
There are a lot of bad reviews for his Pacific Rim course. I actually enjoyed it and learned a lot throughout the course. I'm pretty sure Mead knows he is a tough grader but gives a decent grade as long as you show some sort of critical thinking in your responses. I was failing the course up until the essay and final and managed to somehow get a B.
His class is basic and straightforward. You have to buy the online assignments and you'll have a quiz every week about them and problem sets. Lecture every class but not mandatory. 2 writing assignments and 3 exams. Study before each of them and you'll be fine; there's not much that goes in the grade book.
Dr. Mead is a very kind and caring person. However, he runs his Econ 332 class as if it were a graduate level course and upholds those same standards. No multiple choice. All open answer questions and critiques the long essay portion as if it were a term paper. tests are 90% lecture notes yet you have to buy 3 books and read 4 chapters per week.
Professor Mead knows the mater behind this course like the back of his hand and he really is very knowledgeable. Thats great and all but his lectures do not proper execute the information so youre left confused. Homework every week but you get unlimited tries. Hardest grader ever, not lenient at ALL. Avoid him if possible, but you can pass.
Professor Mead is a swell person. Hes very nice, but the online transition for him hasnt been well. Ive tried my hardest to do well, but the time limits he puts on his quizzes do not give students enough time to show their work and answers. He drops the 2 lowest quizzes, and there is a quiz every week. Dont take him online if you want an A.
Grading is completely unclear. For essays, the harder you work the lower the grade. Points in the lecture are on the exam but the lectures are all over the place. There is no clear structure on what you need to understand for the class. There is a weird balance between generalities and specifics but he does not clearly define what those are.
Quiet honestly, he is a very good teacher. Felt like he held the class to a very high standard, and the exams require you to really know the topic. No multiple choice, all Identification or free response. Hardest part is the required paper, which is not easy at all. DO NOT SIT ON IT. It's 33% of the grade and he deducts for each day it is late.
Grading is completely unclear. For essays, the harder you work the lower the grade. lecture and taking note is the only key that you had but is not enough. If you like a picky professor, yes this is exactly what you need. Three books and not related to course. Exam, all open answer questions and long essay.
the stuff he teaches isn't related to the exam.... He grades like you're going to harvard trying to get a master's degree ... take someone else...
Just dont take him, there are professors that are less of a headache. Hes a nice guy that is passionate about the subject, hes just not the best at the whole teaching students what hes looking for thing.
To start all of the tests are very hard even with studying, it's almost impossible to pass the class unless you're really good at math or can attend office hours. He grades really hard on the essays and the work load is insane. There's online assignments and they barley help your grade. There's basically a quiz every week and they are not easy.
Professor Mead is really passionate about what he is teaching. The material is challenging at times, but I think it is worth the time and effort if you are interested in getting familiar with Asian economies. Exams are difficult, but if you take notes and do the readings, you will be fine.
Have not even taken the midterm yet but based on no study guide and only getting a basic idea of what will be on said test with the density of material that is covered in readings and lectures, I have low expectations of the grade I will receive. As nice as he is, expectations are set exorbitantly high. Almost unrealistic
Very tough for a lower division course. The ungraded problem sets that he assigns are mandatory if you want to pass the quizzes and exams. Homework is worth almost nothing, so tests, quizzes, and papers make up the majority of your grade. But he does care about his students, any question will be answered and he will remember your name.
Your grade is determined by one quiz, the midterm, a term paper, and a final. If you are hoping to get an A, don't take this class. The professor is a nice person and the topic is interesting but please, save yourself the stress (and your gpa) and do not take this class.
Please save yourself and do not take this professor. He his super kind don't get me wrong but your GPA will suffer due to the test and quizzes being very difficult and basically the only things making up your grade.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! Grade is based on only 4 items: a quiz, a midterm, a 7-page essay, and a final. Hand-written exams and multiple LONG essay questions. Gives only horrible student-made study guides. Exams are lecture heavy formatted in a really specific way. I recommend taking literally any other professor. This GE class is harder than my upper-divs
This class is a full time job. Do the Problem sets at least 3 times over to prepare for the quizzes. He does a very poor job at explaining the material. You have to learn how to do all of the math on your own as well as the material. the tests are extremely hard especially the multiple choice questions.
Provides all the resources you need to succeed in his class. Do the practice problem sets, SHOW UP TO CLASS, make flashcards, and you will be fine. His teaching is ok given econ is tough for most ppl. PARTICIPATE! Quizzes are tougher, but exams are easy. There's 3 sections of the exam: multiple choice, fill in the blank vocab, and free response Qs.
He has a big knowledge of awesome sharing. But you shouldn't take him if you're not good at English while his class doesn't have slides, you must take notes on your own.
Interesting class, the professor is knowledgeable. For once, you definitely NEED to show up to class since a good 80% of the quiz/test are notes. Your grade will get curve, just know if you put in effort, it will be rewarded. My advice: study guide files and your notes are your best study guide, please look at them before a quiz/test.
Amazing professor. This class will be a breeze if you are taking notes and paying attention. YOU MUST ATTEND in order to pass the class. Most of what is on the test is based on his lectures and his worksheets that he posts online. DO the practice problems and go to office hours if you aren't understanding. He is super nice and willing to help and.
Professor Mead piles 3 books and "in-class" notes that you need to remember for the midterms/exams. He knows his stuff but a lot of it is repetitive. Tends to get off task from time to time, and exams are all fill-in-the-blank. NO MULTIPLE CHOICE for exams so you need to remember the material.
He's a great professor if you actually want to learn it, go to his office hours and talk when he asks questions in class and he will like you. Quizzes are kind of hard but tests are very simple to figure out.
If ur confused on the material go to his office hours if you can. He is a tough grader on the writing papers. The multiple choice on the exams are really hard but the free responses and the definitions parts are really easy if u study enough. Do the ungraded problem, they really help and study the quiz too.
Great professor. As long as you do the practice problem sets he provides, the quizzes and exams shouldn't be too difficult.
This class was harder than I expected it to be. He grades harshly and provides no feedback. You'll need to study the ungraded problem sets to do well on the quizzes but even then it's difficult to get a B or higher. His exams consist of 3 parts: multiple choice, vocab, and free responses. His lectures can be boring but he knows his stuff.
Very tough class that's lecture heavy. Get ready to take your own notes because there are no slides, he's more old school. You are only graded on a quiz, midterm, research paper, and final exam. Exams/quizzes are more memorization of the material and follow the study guides he posts cause he repeats material. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE ON THE PAPER!!!!!
This professor is tough because his exams contain terms, short answers, and a long essay. No multiple-choice choices, so you have to memorize all the materials. He is also a tough grader, so you need to answer his questions on exams perfectly for a full score. Also, if you are taking his class, get ready to read.
One of the most difficult classes I've ever taken. Terrible professor who is a harsh grader and assigns a quiz every single week of the semester, which are very difficult to keep up. This class consists of weekly quizzes, 2 papers, and 3 exams. He is setting his students for failure. I strongly recommend not taking this professor, save yourself!
STEER CLEAR OF THIS INDIVIDUAL!! absolutely terrible. A very difficult Econ 201 course. Professor assigns weekly quizzes that are very difficult and challenging to prepare for. Term papers are graded extremely harsh. I would strongly advise to avoid this professor and choose someone else. He seems to be a nice guy but the class setup is atrocious.
Professor Mead is great. Do the ungraded problem sets and you'll do great on the quiz. Exams are split into 3 parts: Multiple choice, Vocab, and problem solving (similar to the quiz and ungraded problem sets). Written assignments are harshly graded on grammar and content (clear rubric provided). Reading the textbook before class would be helpful.
This was the best and toughest class I have ever taken in college. Dr. Mead has in-depth knowledge, given that the subject material is his specialty. That said, his goal is to teach you material, not get an easy A. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO PUT IN THE WORK. If you are, you will learn a lot. Goodluck.
Do not be fooled by the first 3 weeks of this class. We did little to nothing to prevent students from dropping. As soon as that time is up he dumps 3 weeks worth of homework that he didn't bother explaining and assigns weekly quizzes that he doesn't even bother explaining. Terrible teacher, stay away. Every Wednesday has a quiz, test, or essay due
Professor Mead's class is challenging, with a focus on lectures and minimal use of slides. While he knows his stuff, expect a lot of memorization for exams and quizzes. Use Unstuck ai and your notes to stay on top of the material - this class is no easy A, but can be managed with effort.
Do not take this professor at all costs! If you are an average B or C student with minimal effort, get ready to put in A LOT OF WORK. He is a very harsh grader, he gives little to NO PARTIAL CREDIT. Same goes for his writing assignments, he will mark even the littlest things. His lectures don't help at all either. Take another professor!
Great Prof.! 7 Quizzes are based on the ungraded problem sets, so study those & you'll pass. Lectures are long but sometimes interesting; take notes on Smart Book prior so you can follow along. Exams are difficult; study the ungraded sets, memorize vocab (quizlet helps), & understand concepts to pass. Class is manageable / passable IF you try.
Quizzes are worth 100 points and will drop your grade. Tests are very hard. Gives little to no partial points it's either you get it or you don't. His homework is so long takes forever to complete. He's a good teacher and lectures well just grades harshly and everything is worth so much. You start off bad you're not passing.
This class is pretty tough but if you actively listen to lectures and review the notes you take in class and the notes he posts on Canvas you can get through most of the exams easily. Try to make friends or a class discord because going through this class alone will be very challenging.
He treats this class like a graduate class or worse, very difficult overall
Professor Mead is an amazing but his class is very hard. If you want to do well in his class you must do the problem sets which are almost identical to what he gives on the quizzes. If you have time after class he provides an SI leader which is a good tutoring tool that reviews a close identical to what he will give on quizzes, midterms and final.
You will be graded on only about 5 assignments, all of which require a lot of heavy lifting. Also, lectures are not posted online after class, so if you don't get the notes from class, you're pretty much out of luck. He really cares about what he is teaching, which is refreshing. It's just very lecture dense, and fairly convoluted as a topic.
Read the assigned hw chapters and pay attention to lectures and you'll be set. Cares about students understanding the concepts. Two papers due throughout the semester. The class involves basic algebra. Easy class as long as you show up. Only allows hand written notes, so be careful if that's something you don't like. Responds to email quick.
Really good guy, very knowledgeable. Exams and Quizzes are all Reading and Lecture specific though, so attend classes regularly and take good notes.
His lectures were pretty helpful. If you want to do well, go to class and practice the ungraded problem sets.
