Quizes are pointless and dont count towards ur grade..they just make u feel stupid for getting them wrong. Exams are not straight forward.Final will kick ur butt. Re-think this one!!

You have to teach yourself everything in order to learn and maybe pass. Gives weekly quizes that dont count toward your grade but helpful for preparing for exams.

he is an ****. he is very rude. often times makes one feel stupid. Tries to intimidate with his firm attitude.

he does make you feel stupid. i asked him a question and he gave me this lame answer that if my iq was higher i might get it. he is an *ss. and yes his stories are dumb. avoid this class. the material is easy but he makes it hard for fun

Quizes almost every day that have about 50 questions on them. Extremely long powerpoints. Dumb stories. Wears the same outfit EVERY SINGLE DAY. Tests and quizzes that are worth way too much. Try to avoid taking his class.

There is simply not enough room here to explain how bad this teacher is. The lecture is useless, the quizzes useless, the CD with the previous tests and quizes on it, useless. If you want to get a good grade in this class, you have to be young, cute, blonde, and willing to kiss his butt. Otherwise go find yourself a good tutor and study the book.

Ok fare warning every little prep tool he gives you is USELESS!! The exams are way different from old exams.....So don't just memorize the old exam, you must understand the concept but you should memorize reactions!!! An extremely horrible professor plus an extremely difficult subject = 80% are struggling to pass.

This class is difficult, and Montgomery doesnt help in the slightest. If you dont know something and ask him about it, he will embarrass you...so most of the time students stay quiet. He gives practice exams but dont count on the test you will take to look 100% like them. It sucks that CSUN doesnt have another professor teaching 235 (>__<)

Did not like this teacher at all!! He gives unannounced quizs and does not even teach you the material on it. He does not explain properly. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!

Awful professor. Save your money for a tutor. Does offer previous exams though as study guides which is nice. But as far as instruction, avoid because you will not learn anything. If you are in a major where you really have to know ochem, REALLY avoid. take Pogban Toure instead. That guy is awesome.

This professor doesn't even know how to explain! Really bad professor, worst I've had coming to CSUN. I learned nothing from him, to be quite honest. Waste of time, take a different professor or take it another semester.

Do not take his class. His lectures are not clear nor helpful and he pretty much just tells random stories all the time. It's better to just teach yourself instead if you want to pass.

Do not take. He is so incomprehensibly not clear in anything he teaches and is unable to clarify anything. Seriously he is the worst teacher i've ever had and i have had some stinkers. Do to my inability to teach myself the subject, my GPA is going to tank due to his class.

The worst professor I have ever taken. Lectures are useless and his jokes are horrible. Avoid at all cost, take any other professor if possible. Tutors will eventually know your personally.

WOW. I never thought teachers could be as useless and rude as he is. If you expect to take a class where a teacher actually teaches or cares avoid him. He treats anyone that asks him a question like a moron. He wears the same clothes everyday and smells when he walks by you. He is a self centered jerk and tells really bad jokes.

worst professor in the history of the universe!!! i am by far disgusted at the grade he gave me... i regret taking him so much his "lectures" are him basically standing and clicking next on the powerpoint.. his notes are useless and the tests are completly different from the hw and notes

Worst professor ever!! Do not take. He doesn't teach anything and notes are useless. I received my first Fail ever in a class in all my life! He is a terrible professor, avoid taking him at all costs!

Eventhough i got a B+ that was only because i had friends that helped me. This teacher is absolutely useless. Information he goes over is basically skimmed information. His quizzes have very little to do with his lecture. His tests have practically nothing to do with what he taught. Half of every class and is pointless stories. HORRIBLE DO NOT TAKE

Hi is so bad prof. His multiple-choice quizzes has 15 choices!!! He gave us 8 quizzes and 8 online quizzes!!! and two exams. He doesn't explain anything, he just show the presentation and read it front of us. STAY HOME and don't waste your time in his class.

AVOID This is a hard class alone, and with him your chances of failing increase. I repeated the course, both times with him and both times he was just as useless and just as hard, reason i passed the second time was because i went to tutoring. If you have the time to do intense tutoring then take him, but goodluck. He better be your last option.

Currently in this class, and regret taking this class. Did not know I was going to get this professor and is socially awkward to his stories. I suggest you find a better professor rather than him, because if you plan to you might as well do hardcore studying with a tutor. Doesn't give that much help, and makes it hard to even understand. He doesn't really teach any lectures. He ALWAYS talks about his life and how "interesting" it is. Tries to crack jokes but never related to the topic. Horrible at lecturing and just reads off a powerpoint. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. STAY AWAY.

He is by far the most HORRIBLE professor I've had. He didnt have a syllabus ready for us until a month into the semester. He doesnt know how to teach. Everyone is lost in this class. He assigns homework with material he hasnt even taught and expects us to google the answers.

He reads off the powerpoint and expects you to know everything. When you ask a question he always answers rude. Does not teach well and help students to understand. Has too many practice quizes. wears the same thing everydayyyy!

This Professor is horrible, try not to take him. He uses power points as teaching tools that is not helpful and quite frankly, confusing. Prof. Montgomery is inconsistent and sometimes his tests does not match/cover any of the previous lessons. If you do take him, go to the tutoring center as much as possible. Good Luck.

Horrible Professor. Avoid at all costs. If you want a career in Science you need to know your Chem. He is not the person that will really teach Chemistry to you. He doesn't know how to teach, doesn't like his students and hates being there. You can understand what he says sometimes. Test a purposely made hard, must do well on the final.

He expects you to know a lot about chemistry, the only source of teaching he uses is reading off his power points slides. KEEP AWAY!!

This professor is not helpful, TAKE a different class with a different professor. His exams are not fair because he teaches something else and he tests u with something else.

Take a different professor. Don't do what I did and think "the reviews suck, maybe I'll pass if I study hard" NO. There is no way you can pass on your own, or with this professor if he gives quizzes with 3 questions worth 100pts! his lectures, the book, and exams have COMPLETELY different material. Just do yourself a favor and find someone else.

He doesn't take attendance but he will at first. He is not very clear and he gives you a confusing CD for his lectures. He talks about his ideas for sitcoms and doesn't shower and wears the same thing over and over with the same sweat stains. Not my favorite. I feel like I have to teach myself to get it when I study.

I would recommend taking another professor. The stuff he teaches barely has anything to do with the quizzes and exams he gives out. I tried teaching myself and I still did not understand. No wonder the grading scale "seems" very easy for his class. I would not take again.

This prof. is by far the WORST i've ever had in all my years of going to school. He does not teach chemistry you will leave the class as confused about the subject as you were coming in. Even if you study and understand the material you will still not pass his quizzes are way too long and difficult for you to finish in time. He is impossible!!!

I highly recommend you take another professor. He is unapproachable and very sarcastic. He doesn't want to tell you your grade (he needs a VERY GOOD reason why). The quizzes are 100 questions long and its a hour long class. The material you learn isn't on the midterms or final. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR to learn the subject.

Do NOT take him! He is an awful professor that does not care about his students. I took him for Chem 100 and did not learn anything. He confuses you in class with his stupid powerpoints and goes too fast. I gave it my all and really tried to do well but it is very tough with his quizzes/exams that are never ending. Don't waste your time with him!

Bad teacher, he knows chemistry but can not teach it. He does such a poor job teaching all the assignments, all of them are very difficult. I went to the tutoring for chemistry on campus and they were shocked at how poor of a teacher he is. He gives out his power point lectures on a CD if you ask, but it barely skims the topics on the test.

Don't take him unless your a chemwiz. I've never had a professor actually make me hate the subject they are teaching more than him. Tests and quizzes are impossible. He made multiple spelling errors while "teaching" and I use that term loosely. Poor hygiene and terrible teaching skills. Why pay for a prof. like this? Take someone else.

If you think the comments on this site don't accurately represent professors, you are in for a real treat with prof. Montgomery. He is so bad I seriously question how he even got hired at csun. Chem is not my strongest subject, but even I could have taught it better than this joker. He needs to shower asap and take an english class, guy can't spell

I don't even know where to start. I did not learn anything. His grading system was so unclear. His 100 question long weekly quizzes were a nightmare. He pretty much tried to be that 'oh, I am cool but tough professor.' If your options are take this class or wait another semester because of your schedule. I would wait.

He knows his stuff but can not teach at all. Do not take him!! He goes really fast and doesn't explain anything well. I wouldn't recommend.

DON'T TAKE HIM! i'll admit it, he knows his material. but he is NOT good at teaching, you ask for help, or a question he replies with another question. his grading system is confusing and he NEVER tells you where you stand in the class. i begged all semester for my grade and he never told me. doesn't explain material, goes too fast.

This professor clearly knew his stuff he just didn't know how to teach it well. If you are not a fan of chem I wouldn't take this professor. Even if you are, still wouldn't take him. Tests are pretty hard.

He is the worst professor that I had ever had at CSUN. I remember reading the reviews from other students about him and crying because I was stuck with this man. Robert Montegomery is TERRIBLE! Do not take him! He gave me a C- and then refused to add the extra credit from my first exam that he promised he would if we were borderline grade.

Don't go to his office hour. He stinks. He will make you stop breathing and stay away! Tell very lame joke to cover up his boring lecture. Teach a extremely slow problem solving method but want you to rush in the test. Don't need to come in his class. He will tell you when there going to be quizs or exams so stay home and study by yourself!

this is the worst class i have ever taken here at Csun he is a horrible professor! His power points are ridiculous , they show super easy examples of the material and then his homeworks and quizzes are all super hard questions that we never went over how to do. If you're going to take this class expect to do everything on your own .

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. Especically because its a friday and saturday class. He is unclear with his lectures and does not give exams and quizzes months after they are given. He gave back our 2nd and 3rd exam back on the final day smh. terrible teacher.

He is the absolute worst chemistry professor out there and for people who claim him to be good are either amazing at chemistry or are retaking it. For the lot of us who aren't good at chemistry this guy is a nightmare. Stay far away. You've been warned.

Professor literally doesn't teach. There's no point in going to class you're better off studying at home.

No organization whatsoever, no one of knew their grade the whole semester, didnt use Canvas, but had his own website instead. I felt that I was teaching myself the entire semester, basically was as he'd put all his powerpoints online so it didnt matter if you didnt come to class. No clear instructions and his lectures would go off-topic everytime!

His pop quizzes were the worst, he asked questions about himself. His homework is so tedious! his homework is like 60-100 questions. And he gives so many tests with 60-104 questions. how could anyone be okay with that? overall, this class was a nightmare. I would never recommend him. save yourself.

Stay away from this professor. This professor shows the same attitude as students have, the fact that neither of them want to be there. He shows no enthusiasm or effort in teaching students. His quizzes and tests are just overwhelming, roughly 75+ questions. He is so confusing that I had to go to my HS Chemistry teacher for help. Simply horrible!

AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COST. Too much homework with 100 questions and not just simple questions, these homework take max 2 hours with full on going. Keep in mind Pearson homework is still due. Lots of quizzes. Youre better off reading the book than going to class. Failed his class and retook it with another professor and got an A.

His lectures seem to be about his personal life more than Chemistry itself. He also makes odd comments out of nowhere which makes the class even more confusing. One can probably learn more on their own than in that class itself. The homework is another hassle since they tend to be 75+ questions and Exams and Quizzes are just as bad. AVOID HIM!!!!!

His lectures are trash! His class is difficult and all he does is make irrelevant jokes. Do nottt rely on those practice quizzes and exams cause they were no help whatsoever. He was the worst professor ive had. his grading was horrible, and didnt explain y he graded so horribly . his class was so unorganized, i never knew what was due or when. i truly dont understand if he gets satisfaction giving everyone horrible grades but i DO NOT recommend!!!

These chemistry at csun really need to put in check they are all completely garbage and they are so rushed to cover everything they dont actually worry about the students learning the material. This class gave me anxiety to max avoid him at all cost.

This is by far the worst Professor I have ever had in my time at CSUN. If you can choose another class for chemistry I recommend you do. I submitted all assignments and he gave me horrible grades for them, and it didnt just happen to me but the WHOLE class! Worst Professor ever. If I could give him a zero I would.

Almost all of his videos are unclear and he won't do much to make them easier to understand. His grading criteria is also inconsistent as he regraded stuff from weeks 1 & 2 at the end of the semester. His quizzes don't match with the book/videos at times. Extremely awkward/socially inept which makes him a horrible communicator.

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from him. His lab quizzes are difficult and he's a very tough grader. He will mark down lots of points off of one point assignments.

Worst Professor I have ever had, talks about himself for at least half the class (not exaggerating), grades on a criteria that is impossible to meet due to the fact its always changing. His rating is no lie, any one who gave him a good score probably kissed his ass.

Had him for CHEM100 before the pandemic.I unfortunately had him again for CHEM334L this semester.Such a waste of time!He is incredibly inappropriate and disgusting!He grades so harshly and will take off points for no reason at all!No one gets an A on any assignment, and he talks down to students when they asked a question or make a simple mistake!
