If you can ever have Dr. Moore as a professor, please take him.
easy to understand extremely helpful very thorough best teacher ever
If you end up with a different instructor, just skip it and sit in on Dr. Moore's class. Quite possibly the best math teacher at UA!
he is the most wonderful teacher ever! he has a great sense of humor..and really loves his job and his class. He will help you in any way he can and he knows that people have bad days! gives great partial credit..if u study and try u can at least make a B:)..sweet guy!
Yeah, sitting in on Dr. Moore's even if you have a diff proff. is not a bad idea at all. Dr. Moore is the greastest proff EVER!!! If you can, take his class!
So helpful. If you have a busy schedule, he will work around it in order to help you. He really gets into his classes. Take him!!!!!
He makes Cal 2 easier than it should be. He also lets you use 1 page of notes on regular exams and 2 pages of notes on the final. His class is as easy as calculus will get. Take him. You will be glad that you did. He is very laid back, helpful, and once again, his class is pretty easy.
Dr. Moore is awesome. Do the homework, make sure you know how to do the problems, and no worries. I would recommend getting the online solutions manual from Cramster, though, because the text book sucks thoroughly.
Professor Moore is an excellent teacher. It is obvious that he cares about his students and their understanding of the material. He also enjoys his job and has a great sense of humor. Do the homework, come to class and you will do fine!
I had Dr. Moore for Cal 2 Spring '07. TESTS: fair (not easy); in fact, he thinks that the more help he gives, the harder he can make the tests. on one test, the integrals were so complex that it took 1 page each to solve them. But even though I made a B+ in his class, I would take the class over again just because he is the BEST PROFESSOR EVER!
Moore seems weird at first but he is actually a nice guy and is funny. He tries to make class enjoyable and brings visual aids to class. He explains everything well, a lot better than other Cal 3 teachers. His tests aren't too bad, but make sure you do the homework and don't get behind. Overall a great teacher.
Dr. Moore is the best math teacher I've ever had, and he really cares about his students. I'm terrible at math, and he would always be willing to help me. Furthermore, I made a low B on all the tests, and even though it was impossible for me to make even a B+ in the class, he gave me an A- because I made an A on the final.
I just wish other professors cared as much about their students as this one. Tests are very straight forward and if you have looked at the homework you will do fine. Very nice guy.
AMAZING teacher. The material was far from easy, but he made learning it much more enjoyable. He also brings visual aids to class, and those help a lot with visualizing everything. He is nice, fair, and just a great guy. I would recommend him to anybody and everybody.
Dr. Moore definitely knows calculus backward and forward, but he doesn't teach out of the book. He'll sit at the board and spend 30 minutes working out one problem and then give you homework that is nothing like what he's shown you. Granted he will be happy to work out some problems the next day, but he'll maybe get two problems answered if you're
Dr. Moore was a great teacher!! He didnt check homework and you get to carry notes to tests! But he would spend a lot of time working one problem that did not help with the homework, but would do more examples the next day! He was willing to help you outside of class. He would explain things better if you tell him you do not understand.
I love Dr. Moore! He is so wonderful! He actually cares that you learn! He helps you out if he knows you try but are having a hard time! Love him! Great teacher and person!
Dr. Moore is a really good teacher! And he really does care if you understand the material or not. I had him for 125 as well. And he always tries to learn every students name. Oh, and he lets you use a whole page of notes on exams, and two pages on the final!!
He knows what he's talking about but he acts like he's a rocket scientist. His tests are kinda hard but you get to use a page of notes on the exams. He doesn't grade homework so do good on the exams. He is a good teacher nonetheless.
Put simply, no review can do him justice. He's amazing! I had him for Cal II, and it was actually close to easy. He speaks perfect English, is funny, and explains everything in a really easy-to-understand way (especially for Cal II). Explains sequences & series great. No homework grades, 3 tests, final. Available for help. AMAZING!
i would highly recommend NOT taking this guy. he is not like any of the other reviews ive read. there is not a page of notes allowed on the test, he does not give you a practice test or even make up his own test. what he teaches is completely different than what the homework is and the homework website is terrible. find a different teacher, period.
He is a great prof. you really leave the class understanding why the answers are what they instead of just teaching tricks trying to get you through the class. If you have the choice TAKE HIM!!!! Very understandable and helps you out any way he can. Goes out of his way to accommodate you. I HIGHLY recommend him!!!!
Dr. Moore is a pretty good prfessor. He spend the whole class explaining a topic, and at first you're thinking "What is he talking about?" Then at the end, he will tie it all together and you will understand it perfectly. He also uses corny jokes and examples to help you understand the material. I recommend taking him.
Most of the material is easy, aside from the sections on series. He is REALLY funny. I found myself laughing throughout the semester. Very approachable. The only grades in the class are the 3 tests and the final. I made a 87, 98, and 96, respectively then a ~68 on the final (all-nighter). I still got an A in the class. Moore Rocks!!!
HORRIBLE teacher. If you are already good at calculus OK you might think he has some cute jokes from time to time. But if you aren't get ready...I'm usually an A student in all classes.. had to drop this, had a D avg. and that was with a tutor. What a nightmare!! No notes for tests like they had said on here. Comp. homework and book are terrible!
Easy, easy, easy. I honestly haven't been to lecture in over 3 weeks, because the class moves so slow. Nice guy, cracks some fairly funny jokes. If you've taken AP Calc, there's absolutely no need to take MATH 125 here. Don't make my mistake.
WORST MATH TEACHER EVER!!! If you didn't take Calculus in highschool, then it's going to be hard. The notes don't match homework and his teaching methods are extemely hard to follow unless you already know the section. When I asked him for help, he told me to just read the book and I would find the answers in there. I had a C in the class even thou
Don't take the class if you haven't had it already in high school, that goes for every teacher in cal 1. Work is hard, lectures don't help a lot, but if you ask him one on one he explains it better. I've struggled and got a B-. I would take pre-cal first.
Really good teacher. I already had calculus in high school so a lot of this was a review for me but I even learned some stuff that hadn't been completely clear before. He goes into detail and explains WHY things are the way they are. Really good if you've never had a teacher. I am taking him again for 126
He is a very nice guy, pleasant personality. Calc 2 is hard regardless of professor, but he allows a page of notes for exams. The exams were some of the hardest i've taken, but he is very generous in giving curves/bonus points. He often goes on useless tangents in lectures, but will explain anything in detail if you ask. Overall, glad i took him.
Dr. Moore is a great teacher who has a dry sense of humor and knows what he is talking about. I've never had a math teacher explain things so eloquently. Yes he goes off on his random tangents sometimes and the material is hard, but he does everything in his power to prepare you for tests and boost your grade with bonus.
If it wasn't for Dr. Moore, I would never have gotten through Calculus 2. He is so understanding and will go out of his way to help and accommodate you! The tests were REALLY hard, he gave bonus opportunities for almost all of them and was very generous about curving. He is probably the best teacher. Take him if you can!
Very easy teacher. He makes the material very simple. I had him for math 208 and 209 and got A's in both classes. He lets you use one piece of notebook paper on the final with any notes on the front and back you like. Easy A!!!!
Mr. Moore is probably the best Cal 2 teacher there is. He allows one cheat sheet for each test and 2 on the final.I would highly recommend him! I would have never passed if it wasnt for Mr. Moore.
His lecture style can be a bit roundabout. I didn't really absorb a lot of what he said in class and had to read the book to understand, which you're supposed to do anyway. The tests were all based on homework problems and he allowed you to have formula sheets with proofs on them. Very helpful if you visit him during office hours.
Smart teacher. Really knows math but cant teach it very well. He gets side tracked and when trying to explain something, can be very confusing. Only 4 tests determine your grade, no hw or quizes. No chance for bonus either. He will scale grades to help as much as possible.
Great guy. def one of the best math teachers ive had. allows a cheat sheet for every exam.
He is a terrible teacher. If you want to hear a talking textbook, go to his class. He explained everything in the most complicated way and made it seem much more confusing than it was. If you've had calculus before, it may not be as bad. If you haven't, DO NOT take his class.
Very good teacher! I am very impressed by his knowledge and teaching ability. I think that the reason students get frustrated with him at times is because he is so thorough but I think that he is just trying to be helpful. He is eager to help every student and gets to know them on a first name basis quick. I enjoyed this course and his teaching!
Not a very good teacher, usually put me to sleep. Can be pretty funny at times, but he's at least 70 and can't compute at all. Would not recommend unless you want to skip class a lot
Really funny at times. Not required to go2 class.1 pg of "notes" for each test.Doesn't really check to see what calculators you use or your ID when you take tests. He's very helpful but he is a bit tedious in his explanations.HW is from webassign.Pretty easy, drops 6 lowest hw grades.Cal is hard and he's prob the best teacher that u can understand!
He is so boring!! Nice guy, and allows cheat sheet on all exams. But if you have not taken Calculus in high school, you are in trouble in his class! So monotone and boring!
great guy, sometimes hilarious with his dry humor. if i had not taken calculus in high school this class would've been a lot harder. good opportunity for homework points and class isn't mandatory. he's very laid back. a lot of good stuff available elearning. not the best teacher but he's sexy
Great professor! Really explains things well and is funny with his dry humor. Easy class. Definitely take him if you can.
Dr. Moore is really nice and always helpful. He makes a solid effort to keep his students informed about what's going on in the class by e-mail, so attendance isn't mandatory. If you haven't had Calculus before, you may have to teach yourself a little and the book is helpful for that. I would definitely recommend this class and teacher though.
Prof. Moore is one of the best teachers I have ever had and one of the first teachers that actually gets you to understand limits very well. Helps relate calculus to the real world and definitely has some interesting stories to tell to keep you awake in class. Best math teacher on campus!
Mr. Moore's BEF 362 class is really easy. He provides information clearly and allows group work as well as test aids.
Awesome teacher. Take him if you can.
He's easy to understand, easygoing, and explains the topics thoroughly. Take him if you can.
Explains examples but not the actual formulas or how they are used.
Definitely take Dr Moore if you can. He can be kind of all other the place sometimes but hes a really good professor. His math humor is hilarious
got an A in calc I and II with prof moore. great teacher. keeps students well informed and prepares well for the exams. one of my favorite professors to date
Very chill teacher. He lets you use a full sheet of notes on every test. His teaching style is very unorganized, but if you can understand the homework its easy.
There is no point in going to class, he didn't teach that great or take attendance. The tests weren't that bad but the final was killer. Would not take again, but if you have him it is not the end of the world.
Dr. Moore was very smart and clear in his lectures. The tests were a bit harder than other Calculus professors', but we were allowed to use calculators and have notes. Homework is mandatory and on WebAssign, but attendance is not. I really enjoyed the class.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Makes Calculus very understandable and helps as much as you need. Very nice guy and really informed on the subject! Highly recommended for freshman
Doesn't require attendence. I only ever went to class the first day, but I got an A+ in the course. He allows a full page of notes for every test. I especially recommend his class if you are good at math because it gives you a lot of time to work on your own and teach yourself.
This class was so easy. He didn't take attendance or require any homework. The class was only a month long and there were no tests. The only grade in the class was the final which was a take home exam. The only thing that could be easier is to do nothing.
Pro. Moore is one of the fun teachers of UA. He made calculus easy, understandable and very interesting. If you can do homework in the book, you will be okay on the exams.
His class is really easy, but he was not meant to be a teacher. Very boring lectures, never learned anything in the class. Would not take if you want to learn Cal III.
He is a nice man. His class is rather dull, but his tests are not too bad. The material overall can be boring as well so I do not know how amazing anyone would be with it.
I took him due to good reviews on here but he is not a good teacher. Nice guy and super smart but he cannot teach. He had the most boring, unhelpful, irrelevant lectures ever. I am a student who usually goes to every class and after the first test I just never came again because I got nothing out of the lectures. I taught myself everything.
I personally thought he was outstanding. Yeah he could be a little boring at times, but really that's just math301. He had some really great math jokes to keep it interesting! Either you're good at math301 or you aren't, it has nothing to do with Dr. Moore. He let's you use a formula sheet on the tests so that helps a lot. I def suggest taking him.
Moore is one of the smartest professors I have ever had. Class is not mandatory; his lectures are extensions on the sections that you are learning. You get to bring a sheet of paper to write whatever you want on for each of his three tests, which is very helpful. Since, you get to bring notes, his tests are hard. He also curves the final grade.
I skipped Calc I & II & was afraid I would struggle in this class, but that was not the case. All of the WebAssign HW has the option to watch a practice video or try another problem. His tests aren't horrible & if the entire class does poorly, he'll offer EC. The final was easy & replaces your lowest test score. I would definitely take him again.
Had him for Calc 1, and he was hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. Homework is minimal but really helps your grade, attendance is optional but can earn you extra credit, and you are allowed bring cheat sheets of notes to exams. He really wants you to understand the material and not just memorize steps. Highly recommend him!
Good personality. His lectures are very repetitive. He is a very tough grader don't expect an A.
Based on what I had heard from friends, I was terrified of taking calculus especially because I didn't take it in high school. Dr. Moore is very helpful and willing to work out any homework or example problem. He gives you the test from last year to study with and an answer key. Each test you get to use a sheet of paper for notes. Love this man
Dr. Moore was a fantastic professor. Absolutely take him if you get the chance. Class was easy but also very interesting.
Dr. Moore is pretty funny and the class isn't that bad. It did drag on for the 1 hr 15 minutes sometimes. You can probably get by without going but i wouldn't recommend it. Just read the book and study the homework and you should do well Homework is optional and the grade is 2 tests and a final
He's a very kind man that seems to be extremely knowledgeable in his field. However, it seems he struggles to be concise and if your attention is not held easily you will struggle with this class. Homework is also a major aspect of this class, but can be a grade booster if you remember to do it.
I liked him in the beginning and he's a nice guy but his tests were really hard. Never taking pre calc for me was hard enough but people who have taken it still thought it was hard. He gives you the test from the previous semester but it does not help. Each test he said the average got lower and lower and the final was the lowest. That says a lot.
He is a nice man but lets you believe that you should keep tryout will pass. Average class grade on tests is 50% which is flunking. Do not take if you need to pass.
He's a genius and knows how to make you learn.
Enjoy his bonus question in every exam, actually the only reason for taking tests is doing bonus questions.
Robert Moore is a very smart man, so it seems that he has a hard time conveying topics to students. I understand WHAT he's talking about all the time, but not how it relates to anything. He's very helpful whenever you need it though and pretty funny. I enjoy going to class most of the time. I'd take him again if I had an option.
He's a pretty good teacher. Has a good sense of humor and is very nice. Responds to emails pretty quickly if you have questions.
He is a kind professor, I like him very much because his teaching style is very free, and test not hard. The homework has 10 times to try, it more than other teachers. In conclusion, very good
Great professor. His lectures were clear and fairly interesting. Homework is optional, the only tests were graded. You could take a full page of notes into the test, but I rarely used it because it was mostly logic and problem solving. The tests were challenging but not unreasonably so, and he always posted past tests. Overall, great class.
Math 126 with Robert Moore? More like "Moore Calc Moore Problems" Practice material and homework was of little use to anyone.
If you are math major, especially pure math track, I definitely recommend you take any class with Dr. Moore. He is extremely smart and you can learn a lot from his bonus questions.
Probably the best teacher for Cal 2. Gives you a full size cheat sheet for each text and you can write anything on it. Two for final. You can't avoid the difficulty of cal 2, but you can get a teacher with easy tests. His are pretty similar to his old tests, which he gives you access to. Drops 6 lowest HW grades. Final replaces lowest test.
Super awesome guy. I enjoyed visiting him in office hours and he was really helpful when explaining lessons outside of class. He also gave me extensions on a couple of homeworks when personal issues prevented me from completing them. However, his lecture style is strange and he explains the content in a very roundabout way.
Interesting guy and fun class
Calculus 2 is a difficult course, regardless of the teacher. However, Dr. Moore provided an accessible course that was graded rather fairly. While his lecture style is somewhat broad and proof-heavy, he covers all of the necessary material. In addition, he uploads tests from previous semesters. I would definitely recommend him for calculus 2.
He lectures in a very slow and roundabout way, so if you have a short attention span or get distracted easily it might be difficult to pay attention. exams are fairly easy, and he gives you old exams which are very similar to the current ones. Overall he is a good professor for calc 1 or 2
He lectures in a very generic and indirect way, which was difficult for me to follow most of the time. His homework is fairly short and useful. He'll give practice tests, which were of little help for me. With that said, after completing his class, I'm 50-50 on if I would take him again. The class is difficult, but its mostly the material.
Hes a great teacher that really knows what hes talking about and knows how to teach. his office hours are comfortable and super helpful and direct. great dude felt sad leaving his class for the last time.
Dr. Moore made this class so easy to understand and his lectures were always funny and interesting. Would highly recommend him. One thing to note, I honestly never opened the textbook. A few homework problems were assigned, but if you take notes in class then you should be fine. Save yourself some money and just go to class, the jokes are worth it
Okay, I think I might have been the only student in the class that struggled (majorly) in this course. Mr. Moore was entertaining and everyone seemed to get the material fine, it just wasn't happening for me. Mr. Moore is very knowledgable in this subject, but sometimes would get off topic or confuse you with his confusion.
Nice guy and the class/tests were pretty easy. The hw is optional but about 1/2 of the test problems come from the hw so it's nice to do it when studying. You get one page of notes (front and back) for the tests (2 for the final) which he doesn't collect. My only complaint is his tendency to ramble on about random theorems during some classes.
Half the test questions are from the homework, and you get a cheat sheet, so every test is pretty easy. Teaches straight out of the textbook, so attendance is pointless.
Dr. Moore is a super laid back professor. He makes class fairly fun to attend with his whimsical attitude. The tests were easy enough, and he gave tests from previous semesters to study before the test. Homework was completely optional, but he did pull some test questions directly from the book. All in all, an easy class with an easy professor.
Because of the move from paper tests to MTLC/webassign tests, 126 with Moore is TERRIBLE. He doesn't really know what he's doing when it comes to WebAssign, and his class structure does nothing to account for how unforgiving WebAssign is. No sample questions, tests harder than homework. Good guy, but avoid for 126.
Calc 2 is a hard class; there's no getting around that. However, Dr. Moore tries his hardest to teach you the concepts and really wants you to do well. He gives 3 attempts on test questions and is very willing to give partial credit if you ask for it. He also recognizes his own mistakes and is very willing to correct them.
Robert claims this was his first time teaching a big class and I believe him. I don't know if he's better in a smaller classroom environment, but this class was very hard with him. The homeworks were much easier than the tests, and the in class information was a much simpler form than what was on the homework. You will have to put in work.
Robert Moore has no idea how to teach. He will go off and talk about things that are not related to the material, especially his failed physics career. He is very old and has no idea how to use webassign, yet everything is on there. He does not give extra credit on homework nor does he give practice reviews before the tests, every other class does.
Robert Moore is fair when it comes to students grades, and will do his best to help them out. However, he does not know how to use webassign, which makes the class a nightmare. His tests are hard, and each question is worth 14 points. Oh, also the final exam is really hard, average was a 50%. There are better Cal2 professors.
Professor Moore is a great professor. His tests are hard, and each question counts as a large portion of the test grade. I blame this on the course being tough and each problem taking a substantial amount of time to complete. He will give extra credit and points back on tests to people who come to his office and present clear work for review.
Dr. Moore is a very nice man, but that doesn't mean he makes his class any easier. Lectures were nothing like the homework and the homework was nothing like the test. Also, he had no clue how to use WebAssign. I'm not sure how he is with smaller classes that don't have online homework/tests, but if the class has anything to do online steer clear!
Moore tries to engage but this course material is so boring that he just can't keep everyone interested. He assigned too many homework assignments which got tedious real quick and everyone hated this class by the end of the semester.
His lectures are primarily theory and proofs, which makes the homework and tests difficult.
What he is teaching is so much of theories, so that I don't know what to do on the actual exam and homework. Very difficult to understand him. I wonder not many people show up in class because they just self learn in homework assignments.
I love robert moore and his method of teaching.
I love this professor and his method of teaching, just some little stuff i don't like about him.
