I'm a great student, always on top of my work and I can usually work with anything BUT this professor made it nearly impossible to reach my goal of an A. VERY unclear on all assignments, repeats himself every lecture yet nothing he says is on the quizzes. The schedule is very unorganized and he assigns quizzes on d2l randomly without notice!
You have to read the book to take the quizzes on D2L!!! His lectures have nothing to do with the quizzes so you're on your own. I managed somehow in the class. No real study guide for the midterm and final. A week before the exams, he makes a list of key terms but they are very general."You are really on your own" Good luck if you take him.
Love Dr. Morris, he is a really good guy and an excellent professor. He is also really helpful and understanding, He makes class interesting so you're never bored and everyone gets involved. I'd take it again if i could. As long as you pay attention and do the work which is easy this class is an easy A or B.
Dr. Morris is an amazing teacher. Very knowledgeable on the subject he is teaching. Very fair, he is a tough grader but I am glad that he is. You will learn in his class about not only history but how to write. If not I learned more in his class about Writing then I did in my own literature class. Respected and positive Professor. Workforyourgrade
Professor Morris is very knowledgeable when it comes to education. He focused mostly on the negatives of becoming a teacher. Attendance matters and coming on time is very important. Your grade will drop because of it. You definitely need the book the final will come directly from it. Overall, very tough grader, come on time, be prepared to read.
You'll have to do a few quizzes on D2L for him, which have nothing to do with his lecture. He's a nice guy, but I recommend only taking him if you are really good at history.
Professor Morris is knowledgeable. The lectures are engaging . Students are asked to participate in classroom discussions. The debate in class allowed for great conversation. Take this class if you want to learn a lot about History. Overall, a great class and caring professor.
Great professor and you will learn a lot about History.
Dr. Morris is simply an amazing professor. He cares about his students and their success. Prior to his class, I hated History and he made me have a deep appreciation for the subject. The interaction and engagement with other students challenged us to think critically. Take this class if you are interested in learning about History and writing.
Excellent professor. One of the best.
Definitely a great professor and has a passion for History. Professor Morris was able to engage our class in some insightful discussions. Be prepared to be asked to participate and share your thoughts. He wants you to leave the class at least having an appreciation for the subject.
Great lectures. I learned a lot about history.
Prior to this class I hated history I definitely learned to have an appreciation for the subject. Participation is important so get ready to share your thoughts.
Dr. Morris is awesome! Though the work seems intimidating, it's really not. He isn't a tough grader. Discussion posts are tolerable and usually given full points as long as you put down some information. Quizzes use lockdown browser which I am not a fan off but that's about it. He deducts points for late/absent. Overall great prof!
Awesome class. The discussions in class were good and insightful. Be ready to share your opinions.
Great Professor. You will learn in his class. Group projects were great and class discussions were inspiring.
Great Prof.
Great teacher, a real gem!! but he does not play about attendance.
Professor Morris cares about his students. The lectures are inspiring and thought provoking. He definitely know his stuff. Be prepared to learn.
Dr. Morris has a real passion for his subject. He wants all students to succeed. Be prepared to learn and be inspired.
Dr. Morris is a great professor! He is very knowledgeable and wants us all to learn. Make sure to always participate and be there on time.
Gives a lot of homework and grades attendance along with class participation. He knows how to teach well and he's a pretty funny person but too strict and too much work. If you're taking 4 classes or more like I am/was, then don't take him. Cool professor though.
Definitely learned a lot about American History in this class.
A genuine professor that cares about his students. He knows his stuff and be prepared to learn.
Awesome teacher overall
At first he seems tough, but after the first day he's the best professor Ive ever had. His class is easy just make sure to come to class and you will pass, you actually learn from his lectures and most of the work is on launchpad and discussions, just do the online work and you will pass. (final) - group essay and a little presentation its easy.
Professor Morris is a real jewel. The polling questions in class prepared us each day for the lecture. They were insightful. I enjoyed the class.
I learned a lot about History.
I did not like history in high school, but Professor Morris gave me a new appreciation for it.
Professor Morris is an inspirational and committed professor.
I learned a lot about African American History.
Professor Morris truly inspired his students and left me with an appreciation for history.
This class was something I've never experienced in my two years at college. Dr. Morris was engaging and knowledgeable about the subject all the while making it entertaining to learn. On the other hand I have a lot of anxiety so it was tough going through 4 debates ,but in the end it changed my perspective on many things. It was an amazing class!
Great professor and definitely knows his stuff.
He is an okay teacher. He really does know who stuff. I took him for a short course and it wasn't bad at all. Just make sure you do your work on time and your set. You really learn a lot from his lectures. No tests but their are debates/ blog discussion which honestly aren't bad at all.
The in class debates were cool and the assignments were not too bad. Be prepared to participate and he knows his stuff.
Professor Morris is fair and consistent. The assignments are clear.
Great class and engaging discussions. I particularly like the polling questions. It got me to think.
Dr. Morris is a really great professor. He's very engaging in his lectures and makes them very interesting. I learned a lot of new things. His class was easy and enjoyable. I would take his class again.
This professor is the worst I have ever taken. His reasons for low grading are unexistant and not accurate at all. His instructions are not clear at all; understanding is not one of his qualities. I would never ever take him again!
Professor is a solid choice for American History. He has a love for history and is evident in his lectures.
Lectures were good and participation was required. Students are engaged in great conversation and the poll questions inspired me to rethink my ideas about history.
Great guy and professor. Truly knows his stuff.
This was one of my best classes at BC. Professor Morris is a cool guy and made each class interesting.
Great professor and knowledgeable of history.
He truly knows his stuff.
Great guy and awesome lectures.
I hated history in high school. The poll questions and lectures made me enjoy history.
One of my favorite professors I've taken! Makes history interesting and he engages the students with polls and discussions during class that makes you think. There was a group blog project and all of the tests and homework assignments were a breeze. Attendance is mandatory, I recommend this professor.
I learned more about history in this class. A great professor.
The class was engaging and got me to appreciate history even more. The poll questions got me to think. I enjoyed the class.
This professor's a cool dude. Carries a lot of knowledge of the subject he teaches. We have to do 16 hw assignments and 16 quizzes, using launchpad. Only thing I disliked was the grading for two blogs we complete; he's a little picky. No midterm or final exam. Answers for hw and quizzes are online. All in all, a solid professor and coool dude.
He is definitely a great professor and choice to teach American History. I learned so much that I did not know. I enjoyed the class.
Overall, a good professor. I learned a lot.
He is one of the best professors I have had at Broward College. I truly learned about American History.
OMG FUNNIEST TEACHER EVER. He's super easy and really cool. Take this class if you're looking for an easy A. No exams or test just quizzes which are 3 questions. That's it. The Best
Dr. Morris is one of the greatest professors Ive taken for History, his lectures are intriguing and he also teaches with videos and songs about current events which makes the lecture even more interesting. No final exam just a group blog project. Attendance is mandatory but the class is amazing and he actually cares.
This class was great. Professor Morris made History interesting.
He is truly a great professor. He is the best History teacher I've had at Broward.
Great professor!
Professor Morris made me have a new love for history. He was a good teacher.
Professor Morris is one of the best professors I have ever had at Broward college. He does mainly PowerPoints for note taking although he loves getting the class engaged in daily discussions that really make you think and want to participate. All and all there are no tests, just textbook homework that is due periodically and a final project.
Professor Morris gives great lectures the work was not to much easy A
He is probably one of the best professors I have had at BC. Great lectures!
Great choice of professor on campus. He is passionate about his subject.
This class gave me a new love for American History. Dr. Morris left me with an deeper appreciation for the subject.
He seems tough, but he is really caring. The lectures and class discussions are great. They truly inspire you to get involved. It is mandatory to come to class and do the work.
A cool professor and knowledgeable. I would definitely take him again.
Professor Morris made history class worth coming to. The lectures and poll questions were amazing. I learned more about history in this class than any other time in my educational career.
Doesn't give a lot of work, at all. But, his approach towards some things are rude. Overall, easy class.
This is a top notch professor at BC. He cares about the students. His grading criteria is clear. He also brings in the help of the librarian and writing center to help those students struggling with writing. I learned so much about history and improved my writing skills. Take this class if you want to learn.
A solid choice. The writing may seem challenging, but he walks you through it. Just listen to him and seek assistance from the librarian snd writing center that works with his class. This class was good,
He is a true superhero! Easy assignments. 3 small response essays and then one final 2-3 page paper at the end! Grading criteria is clear! He is a massive supporter for student life, so he switches class and goes to do student activities! Easy A and a solid choice! Do not pass up such an amazing professor!
This professor is a solid choice. He engaged our class. I love the discussions and community built in our classroom.
This is truly an awesome professor. He cares about his students success in class. He made himself available to help. Be sure to ask questions and seek his assistance if you are having problems. He is a solid choice.
Great professor, everything available online, clear instructions. He was interpersonal and made class enjoyable. Gives ample time to do work and offers multiple extra credit options
Easily my favorite teacher ever. He works with you to understand American history. Homework is minimal and there are some essays but he works with you prior. I would definitely recommend this teacher 10 out of 10.
One of the best teachers at BC. He makes History interesting. I also learned more about writing. If you want a great and caring professor, you need to take him. Be sure to listen to him and his instructions to pass the course.
The professor is fair, he will help you out with your research papers and short responses. Professor Morris, make the class easy for the students but you have to be responsible in order to obtain a good grade.
Professor Morris can come off as tough but he was very helpful as a teacher. He was available to meet me during office hours or zoom to discuss my concerns. I struggled with writing and he modeled writing his short responses with me and our class. I would suggest to any student do not be afraid to ask questions and seek him out for assistance.
Really great teacher!! Had him for the fall and I enjoyed going to his class when I had him. He makes history fun and enjoyable. When it came to working, he made it clear what was required. Would take his class again and would recommend to anyone. TAKE HIM!!
Be prepared to read and write. Two writing assignments due weeks. Quiz every week. Ignores messages. Does not respond to emails. Does not give extra credit. Does not allow any make up work/quizzes. I would not recommend this professor for this class online.
Never regretted choicing him. Professor Morris is one of the best BC teachers there are. He made sure that the class was engaged and understood the lectures. Plus he emphasized what is needed for the civics exam. He tells you what to expect with each essay (3), remember that and it's smooth sailing I promise.
Dr. Morris is a great professor. He makes lectures interesting and keeps you awake. He is clear about what you're being graded on. There were three essays, a speech, and a project at the end. You also must complete an hour of community service. He gives a grade for attendance so don't skip class. Put some effort into your work and you'll be fine.
This professor jeopardized my grade by giving me a poor grade on an assignment because HE didn't like the way I presented information but it was in standard MLA format. This 80 on one assignment is the reason I did not get an A. He also takes 2-3 days to answer emails.
I took this class because I saw how great the reviews were for the teacher, but now I'm not sure why the reviews were so positive. The grading is tough; most students are getting scores between 60-70%. I worked really hard on my essay, but I guess he's just a strict grader.
Thought he was great at first, until I found out the group project and presentation grades are based on the overall class. He's ex military so he's stuck in that mentality of a group project basing the entire class grade off of it. Also waits until last minute to grade stuff. Quick to give zeros with no explanation until you see him or responds.
Makes you speak out loud in class. Attendance is mandatory. He takes long to grade writing assignments. Textbook is not needed, it is provided through portal. Make sure to follow writing rules. I received an F on one assignment, due to a small error and he won't give you another chance. Makes you do volunteer work and final assignment is a speech.
I was dumb and forgot to do an assignment so I ended up with a B+ but the assignments were pretty easy. A lot of extra credit and the lectures were interesting. At the end of the semester, there is a big class project where you get graded on projects you didn't even do :/ but other than that Prof. Morris is a good teacher.
Guy is impossible to reach outside of class. Did a whole bunch of work for this guy only for him to grade it last minute. Grades closed. Teaches us to not procrastinate and do the work on time yet grades everything with 2 days left in the semester. Full of himself. Avoid this one. Disrespectful and no help at all. Ask for help he laughs.
Dr. Morris is not the best at communication. I could never get in touch with him online for half of the semester. He grades things after the semester is over so keep in mind the assignments you need to do. Each attendance is 10 points out of 100. Group project at the end of semester. If you don't ask for feedback you won't get any.
His lectures are the best part of his classes. I found it fun to engage and ask him questions. I found his way of grading very strict with “only A's or F's. Group projects are a must for class, which makes coming up with ideas not fun as an individual. Lots of homework on D2L Not very neurodivergent friendly in the end.
I took him for AMH2020 and he's my favorite professor at BC so far. His lectures are easy to understand and as long as you pay attention you will do just fine. A few essays and projects but overall not too heavy of a workload. He has extra credit opportunities and he made class very engaging and interesting. Would 100% recommend and take again.
