Very easy A. Don't buy the textbook! Test are straight from his powerpoints. Make quizlets out of the definitions on the powerpoints and you'll get an A on every test. Everything he writes on the board will be on the test (which isn't very much). Funny teacher and is there for you if you struggle at all. Attendance is necessary.

He is a very nice guy who really likes sociology. His tests are not hard and the reviews he gives before them are almost the exact test. Beware of the pop quizzes that can make or break your grade, but you can usually use your notes. Not a bad class at all.

Not a bad class- you need to the notes and it's better to read the book (it doesn't take long). Class is necessary because he gives info not from the slides that are tested over. Pop quizzes with notes usually, and are unscheduled. He's horribly condescending about phone use. No more laptop use mid semester... He's ok, but not fun. Tests not bad.

I loved this class. The lectures can be boring but the material is basically common sense. He takes clicker points everyday & if not many people show up he will give you bonus points for attending. TAKE NOTES b/c most pop quizzes are open note! Its not an easy A, just put in some effort & you'll do great. if you have questions just email him!

He puts LOs for each chapter on Blackboard. Before each test, just make sure you know the LOs for each chapter the test is over & you will get an A. If you have questions just email him & he's happy to help! Lectures can be boring but go because you get clicker points & he gives pop quizzes! he also drops your lowest quiz at the end of the semester

Everything you need to know if on his slideshows and his lecture. He will give pop quizzes (only 6--1 dropped), but you will be able to use your notes so it is an easy A! He cares a lot about the material he teaches and he cares about whether or not the student is learning. He understands this is supposed to be an "easy" class. Really enjoyed him!

No phones or computers or will call you out. Textbook is not needed. LOs are online, those help alot. At the end of semester he drops your lowest quiz grade. Does pop quizzes which makes you go to class but lets you use notes so take them! Just pay attention, take simple notes, tests are easy and you'll be fine.

You guys, there are some people complaining about the no use of technology but c'mon you are paying for this class... So yeah you should be paying attention. He gives phone breaks! professor Mortenson is one of the sweetest professors ever and if you get the chance to take him YOU SHOULD!! He cares so much about what he is teaching and the students in his class. Mortenson is a funny old guy who cracks corny jokes and plays cheesy music. He is very kind and caring and readily helped me make-up things when I was in the hospital. Pop quizzes are easy and you basically know when they are coming, study for the tests and you'll pass easily. Participation is extra credit, attendance helps, lecture heavy.

Prof. Mortenson is one of the most amazing professor and person I've ever met. He's such a genuine person and cares so much about every single one of his students. He offers so much extra credit and tests are super easy. He gives a study guide for each chapter on the test and provides his power points on blackboard before test.

Very sweet guy that truly wants his students to do well and does his best to make the class beneficial to students. Exams are incredibly easy if you study (he provides learning objectives) and heavy studying isnt required to do well if you pay attention in lecture and take good notes.

Professor Mortenson is one of my favorite professors. He helps make the content very relatable, and says when something will be on test. Class is mandatory. Extra credit is offered. There are 6 "pop" quizzes throughout the semester, but they are word for word with the powerpoints. Tests are EASY. He is very personable and overall an amazing prof.

With a little studying and willingness to show up to class, it should be an A class. Technology policy is annoying at times. Lecture heavy but shows power points with the information that is needed to know for the test. He gives open note pop quizzes so attendance is mandatory. Overall he's a decent professor and gives a lot of extra credit.

He was a really fun professor and really related to his students. He was understanding when it came to missing classes or quizzes and is a caring person in general. There were a lot of pop quizzes but eventually you figure out when they will be by looking at where you are in each chapter.

Mortenson is a good teacher and if you just show up to class you get clicker points which really help your grade. The pop quizzes are open note so take notes and the tests are multiple choice. You for sure need to study a decent amount for the tests because they can be a little tricky, but do-able.

Wonderful man. In-class quizzes are word-for-word from ppts so take notes. He's picky about tech/talking, and will call out people on their phones. Tests are just like the reviews, so go to review days. The homework takes less than 30 mins without reading at all. Easy A, and very interesting and kind of funny lectures. Wish he taught more classes.

Amazing professor! Tons of extra credit points, and a very humorous guy! Tests arent very difficult as long as you know the material. Highly recommend taking.

Do the quizzes, take as many times to get full credit. Attendance is graded, but he gives extra credit during. If you read the power points and do the homeworks, then you should get a good grade on the exams (haven't gotten less than an A with no studying).

Prof. Mortenson is a great person. His classes were somewhat boring because it was at eight in the morning. The lecture slides are on his BB, but it's only half of the information. He gives points for attendance and extra credit. His tests are pretty simple. He does go a little too fast in his lectures, but it's a lot of definitions from the book.

Straight forward class. Unlimited attempts on quizzes and the exams are basically compiled from vocabulary definitions and the quizzes. Attendance is mandatory and gives a lot of extra credit for attendance. He also does one or two extra credit opportunities.

LOVED Professor Mortenson, but his lectures are probably the most boring class I have ever attended. He gives attendance points and if you answer the questions he asks in class you can earn extra credit. There are multiple online quizzes you are made to take, but you are able to retake them as many times as you want. He's the nicest person ever!

Professor Mortensen is a very nice professor. The quizzes are super easy and attendance is mandatory; However, his lectures are very boring and his exams are harder than what you would think due to to a lot of context questions. I suggest retaking quizzes before the test

Professor Mortenson is an amazing guy who genuinely cares about his students. You get points each day for going to class, but If you skip the powerpoints are all on blackboard. There's a 10 point online quiz due every week, but they're easy and can help you study for the tests. Most of your grade comes from tests, which are worth 500 points each.

He is very sweet and knowledgeable. Lectures can be boring but are a good textbook review. Tests are weighted heavily but the learning outcomes he sends out are helpful. We had one paper that was not hardly graded and 12 chapter quizzes. If you keep up with assignments and study a little bit for tests you should be fine. He gives extra credit too.

Professor Mortenson is so sweet and is hilarious! His class is pretty self-taught- just read the textbook and take the textbook quizzes over and over again until you've seen every question (it will help on the tests;) His lectures are sometimes dragged on, but other than that, he's a great professor!

He's so funny and sweet! He adds a lot of cushion and you just have to study slides but by no means is it a blow off course. As long as you stay semi on top of things you should make a good grade

I like Mr. Mortenson. He is easy, caring, and is lecture heavy but the class is super easy. The most you will do is mindtap quizzes. Recommend for easy class. Just study and you will be good.

He is a super nice dude! The class was easy enough, a group presentation, individual presentation, and tests make up most of your grade. Professor Mortenson is a good guy and really cares about you; he has lived a fascinating life and his stories are always interesting to hear.

Please take his classes. He freaking rocks.

Great proffesor

This class was an easy A if you went to class and took notes. The tests are easy if you just make a Quizlet of all the terms on the slides and study practice quizzes. The class was easy but Mortenson was always grumpy and passive aggressive about people not wearing their masks and talking during lectures. The lectures were boring but overall easy.

Really sweet man. Lectures are boring but the class is really easy and he writes jokes in his emails which are cute.

He's an amazing professor but it is so easy to fall asleep in this class. There are study guide outlines that he posts which i will use as my notes bc it's a waste of time taking regular notes when you already know what will be on the exam bc study guides are provided prior. He's a kind old man and I would take a class from him again.

He was a sweet guy, emails back with any info I need. The only problem is that his exams are A LOT of points so even if you mess up a little, your grade drops crazy.

He is a sweet man and he does a good job teaching, I just wouldn't recommend him if you have to take Sociology because you have to study everything because you can be tested on anything. There are other professors who make it much easier (like making the exams the same questions as the quizzes).

I liked Prof. Mortenson's class, he is a cool dude and is quite funny and witty if you give him a chance to be. You have to study hard for the exams, so be prepared. I got c+'s on all tests, hard application Q's. If you are on your phone you will get called out, believe me. Study hard if you are taking his class, and he responds to emails fast.

Honestly this class is not bad. It is definitely lecture heavy. There is weekly homework but it is easy and he gives extra credit assignments too. He takes clickers questions for attendance every class. The test aren't that bad if you study a little. He sends out a quizlet before each test.

The holy trinity to doing perfectly well in this class: go to class and take basic notes, note key terms in the textbook, and use the built-in textbook quizzes and practice tests and you'll walk out with an A or very high B. Also, please just stay off your phone in class; it is Embarssing how many times he had to call it out in my class section!!

Dr. Mortenson's class is an easy A if you just go to class. He puts out study guides that apply directly to the test. Tests are pretty easy. There's really no need to study if you go to class. There's also weekly online quizzes that are open note, which helps buffer your grade. Personally, I found his lectures super interesting.

Professor Mortenson is a good professor. All of his exams come from the practice questions and slides that are presented in class. There are no surprises with work. As long as you show up and take some notes, you will be fine. He's also a very chill guy. I highly recommend that you take General Sociology or any other class with him.

Mortenson was great, but sit in the front and actually pay attention! Most likely, those sat in the back on their phones are some of the bad reviews. Quizzes = easy/from textbook. Some test questions are sometimes something that he only talked about once in lecture (SO PAY ATTENTION/TAKE NOTES), but most are from presentations and are application.
