the guy knows what he's talking and is an easy grade if you do the papers he assigns. he does "um" a lot, but if you ask him questions, he will always have a clear answer. great professor, easy assignments.

He is very helpful in class and after class. His assignments are in details. If a student still does not understand the assignments, he explains until the student gets the ideas. He gives fair grades to his students.

Take his History of the Bible class! I learned SO much and it was SO easy! He really is a very nice person.

Getting passed the "umms" is the most difficult aspect of the class. He is wonderful and has an abyss of patience for his students... Just don't get unlucky and have to read Monolingualism of the Other(Derrida), that in itself became the nightmare for our class! He makes you think and that is a +!

Dr. O is very helpful and patient. He is the best teacher I've ever had! Just remember to avoid the block class with Rita. She's really biased. Without that oblegation to endure Rita's unfairness, Dr. O's class is very recomandable.

he's an interesting teacher...very philosophical with good insights. hes one of those teachers, though,that gives grades according to the amount written rather than the actual quality of writing. so write a lot and repeat yourself with different words and youll get an A. its a cool class though. i recommend it.

Took his Eng 45B in Spring 06, got an A in it. He emphasized the Bible in more of a religious standpoint rather than a literature standpoint. His lectures were a bit humdrum at times but he tried his best to keep us informed with offtopic lectures. He's a real nice guy, he's willing to help you succeed if you help yourself first.

Hes a real sweet teacher who actually cares. He is better in 1A though. 1c is a tad confusing, yet still recommended. overall great teacher!

I love Oventile! I wasn't thrilled about taking this class in the beginning, but now I'm really glad I did. He is so sweet and he actually makes you a better writer! His class was chill and had a very comfortable environment to speak freely in. We did have to read two books that were a bit challenging but he makes it easy with class discussions.

Dr. O's a wonderful professor. He can be a little timid at times but he can also be very funny. The most important aspect of the class are the essays. There was a total of 4 essays throughout the sem. As long as you get As in them, you can slack off on attendance and the Writing Center and still get an A in the class.

Prof. Oventile is super nice. His reading assigments are pretty tough, but he is always there to help you. I have improved so much in my writing, thanks to him. Do remember, that you need to put a lot of effort in this class.

Easy A but BOOOORING! He's full of "uhhhmm(s)... uhhhhh(s).. & and yeaaaaa(s)" He repeats himself for 10 to 20 min... the same thing over and over again. When he finally gets to his point he goes back and talks about it again! Overall a great Prof, very helpful, little to purchase for the class, and expects the best out of his students.

From the first day, I thought this would be the most stressful and annoying subject for this semester, BUT this class is EASY A IF you do what he asks. I'm still taking this class and I know for sure I will get an A! Do not waste your time taking someone else.

Professor Oventile is the best english professor at PCC. I asked him for a letter of recommendation and I was able to transfer because of him. See him for office hours and he will immediately give you advice to obtain that A+. Do his journals and take careful notes and his exams shall be simple. Oventile is an amazing English professor. I had him for 1A and 1B.He does give alot of work, but it is not difficult to do. The reading is great and his essays interesting. Most of what you will write in your essays is gained through the discussions in class. Really easy to talk to. As long as you are active and trying he won't disappoint you!

To be honest this course was a very unnecessary challenge. 200 pages of reading every week, as well as a 70 page journal due during the midterm and final, and 2 essays consisting of 8 pages. This class was practically like a book club. Professor Oventile is a great person, but this class didn't benefit me in any way.

His lectures may seem long and boring at first, but he's super knowledgable. He assigns a ton of reading, but really gives you an in depth analysis on everything. professor oventile is a chill teacher. he is understanding and flexible with his students. his grading is clear and fair. at the beginning of the semester he does start off with two in class-essays. the midterm and final is a journal you keep with all semester. there is a lot of reading. his class isn't super easy but an A is very possible.

He's very open and friendly. It's mostly tedious work but if you don't understand the text, go to his office hours! He's a little awkward when it comes to discussion ,but overall he's adorable. He's crystal clear on what he wants; I was a bit overwhelmed when he went over the syllabus, but the workload wasn't too bad, and the class was nice.

Yea english can be a difficult subject for most but professor oven tile cuts people a lot of slack. this class is not hard as long as you show up everyday and listen to the lectures. Oventile is hilarious because he's always in his own little world. The workload SEEMS like a lot but he's an easy grader. As long as you incorporate the lectures into your essays you are fine. Dr. Oventile is such a nice and caring old man. From his grading criteria I was expected to get a B or C in the class, but I ended up getting an A overall. He graded 4 essays and looks quickly at journal notes. Easy essay grader. Very philosophical, very helpful, would take again. Fair class I would say.

Oventile is a very nice person. He can get off-topic quite easily, but overall, the class is interesting. For the honors class, we wrote two 7-8 page papers and one 13-14 page paper which seems like a lot, but he is an easy grader. Classroom discussion topics might get a bit confusing, but he's very helpful and will clarify anything.

I took all of his composition classes from 1A to 1C. He's such an extremely easy grader. What you should bear in mind is not forget to submit your assignments on time. Just submit them on time, then you will get an A super easily! He does not check anything at all except for required length.

I've taken prof Oventile many times, and I think he's a really solid prof. He requires a lot of reading. His lectures can get tedious and boring, but he's really informative and you can tell he knows what he's talking about. If you're an English major you should definitely take at least one of his literature courses

He is awesome! Im so glad I have him for two classes this semester. He is very smart and he teaches you more about philosophy mixed with science. His lectures are super interesting and fun. There is many group activities which makes time fly. I have him for three and half hours straight and it feels like we need more time. Highly recommended.

Oventile is honestly such a sweet and caring professor and a really easy grader. For 1C Honors I will wrote two 8 page essays and one 12 page essay. Read a super boring book that was hard to find. Lectures are SO boring and long but he is so nice and caring. Definite take this class, he is an easy grader and gave everyone one an A. There are few assignments that make up the grade. Hes so nice and cancelled class twice.

I took his 1c honors class. At first blush, his class seemed difficult to get A; but it was my delusion. Though his class was honors one, getting A was super easy. Just keep in mind that you should turn every assignment on time. Most classmates got A. Maybe the easiest class at PCC.

I took Dr. Oventile for both ENG 1A and 1C. It can hardly happen that you get B or C under the premise that you turn in your assignments on time. Definitely, not only the easiest class but the softest grader!!!!!

Professor Oventile is my favorite professor at PCC. I took him for 3 of my English courses with him and it was the greatest decision of my life. Lots of interesting readings, but will come out of the class with lots of knowledge. He is the most caring professor Ive had, and am where I am today because of him. PLEASE TAKE HIM!!

Oventile is the kindest professor and a lenient grader. I fully recommend him if you want to take his Honors classes. There are technically 4 graded assignments. The in-class essays and journal is considered one assignment. The remaining three are take-home essays. The only downside is that most books we read were extremely abstract and obscure.

Just trust me and take this class.

Assigned reading for each night, easy to fall behind if you are not consistent. Material is a bit tough to understand but grading is extremely straight forward, follow the syllabus and you will have an A. Personal not the best at writing but I did all my assignments, got As on all my papers. The only hw is journal each night.

So far for me this professor is the best for English, he not explain to fast I will do all my work on time , when did you not come to class he will excuse you etc. I will recommend him for English 1A or the class he gonna teach for the next semesters. Im taking him for the first this semester and he is super good teacher.

Getting an A in Oventile's class is easy to do, I took him for both 1A and 1B, and I'm by no means a great writer. However, I was able to obtain an A extremely easily both semesters. Get ready to love science fiction for 16 weeks. One thing I really liked about this class is Professor Oventile is basically reading the book at the same time as us. Usually teachers have right answers about what the meaning of the book is, but this way he left it open for interpretation, and it was less pressure to engage in class. Excellent prof.

I took his class a few years back. Professor Oventile is a very kind professor, no doubt. But, the books were beyond pretentious and confusing. I have no idea why he assigns any of Sandy Florian's books, as they seem like they were copied from a random word generator. Come to this class for Dr. Oventile and a good grade, not to be a better reader.

I really enjoyed this class, he is very knowledgeable and easy going. Classes are mostly discussions about prior reading and are very interesting. Homework is just reading and easy journal questions with a couple of essays through the semester. I truly enjoyed this class and would take him again.

Professor Oventile is one of the best professors to ever exist. I say this man is a true gem, and I mean it with everything I got. Although everything was online, he somehow still made the first year of college a memory I could not forget, he is someone that really knows how to brighten his class and is the reason why it felt so bittersweet leaving

I took him for the fall semester (during COVID). - 2 essays (2pg, 4pg) - 3 papers (5pg, 7pg, 10pg) - discussion questions helped a lot with papers - 3 books we read Honestly take him, it's an easy A! He isn't a tough grader, he's the best teacher I have ever had. Very nice guy.

Professor Oventile is the absolute BEST! He is so kind and loves what he teaches. His lectures (through Zoom) were incredibly interesting and he happily will answer questions if you are confused. The discussion posts were also very helpful in understanding the material. If you get the opportunity to take a class taught by him, take it!

Took him for fall online. Was easy and also amazing as a professor. If you miss class he has pre-recorded videos. Should participate there's no right or wrong answers he would change his words around but would understand and respect what you say. If you miss class he would also understand. A very understandable professor. Trust, just take him.

Dr. Oventil is a true gem. His lectures are interesting. He welcomes all different perspectives on the readings and discusses them with his students. He gives good examples and sources outside textbooks. I would take him again!

Professor Oventile genuinely cares about his students. His lectures are amazing and I think participation is appreciated. I accidentally signed up for the ENG01A for STEM students but the class was so interesting I decided to stay. Come in with an open mind and you won't be sorry. Excellent professor, really fun class.

Professor Oventile is a real gem! I love his way of teaching that he encourages everyone to speak their minds out loud and express different opinions and he is very welcoming about that. He is chill and cares about his students. If you put in effort he recognizes that! Definitely an easy A as long as you work hard!

Professor Oventile is a one of a kind professor. I took about 5 courses with him and if I could go back to PCC, it would be to take him again. He is passionate about his work and he cares for his students. I had the honor to have him as my mentor for my honors research. He is an incredible human and I am beyond grateful.

Would definitely take again, but be aware of the many essays you have to write. (1B is a lot of writing in general). Discussions due before each class has 200 word minimum and two 50 word minimum peer reply. Essays due roughly every other week, starts off w 4pg, 6pg, 8pg, 10pg, and ends with 5pg essay. Easy grader and nice prof overall

He is a very nice guy who is extremely passionate about literature. He is also really easy with his grading system. SUPER EASY A! However, it is sometimes hard to stay engaged in class because he likes to go off on tangents. I definitely learned some interesting facts this semester though!

Professor Oventile is an AMAZING professor. Just finished my last lecture with him today and its an Easy A. Semester consists of discussions twice a week which are not too hard (200 words each) And 4 papers throughout the whole semester! His lectures are pretty interesting (I admit I would get distracted) but he is a SWEET GEM! TAKE HIM!!

LOVE HIM, adorable prof. His lectures go hard, I always learn something new every class. The classes are long, but so fun sometimes. Grade is just discussions, essays, and attendance. The material can be confusing, but if you just read and look at lecture notes, it's simple! Emails back fast too. If u see this professor, love the beanie.

Very understanding teacher if you are going through tough times as long as you put in the work - participate often in class, put thought into discussions. He tends to ramble and go off on tangents, but generally a good teacher with excellent required reading.

His thoughts are simply ek-stasis. His lectures are very much deeper. So, you must be a good listener and active students. There will be lots of papers but he would always appreciate your thoughts and grade very lightly. You just need to complete all papers and discussion to get easy A. Very nice Professor, I have ever seen!!

He's an excellent professor I like that he takes his time to help students when we have questions the way he teaches is inserting I learn something new in his class and he's not harsh at grades I recommend this.

Prof Oventile is a nice guy and is very nice to students, he'll work with you if you need help. English 001B has a lot of reading, mostly easy to medium length and level each week. Almost all of your grade is from papers. These vary from 3 to 10 pages and there are about 5. Grading is easy.

Professor Oventile is a genuinely sweet person. The class reading material, however, is simply irritating beyond belief. Sandy Florian's books are pretentious and convoluted. Ludwig Wittgenstein's book is useless in explaining the mechanics of language. It boggles my mind how such a caring professor would use such terrible books.

I was really fortunate to be enrolled in Professor Oventile's class. He is a wonderful person and a professional teacher. It is hard to find a teacher who combines these two potential qualities as a great person and an experienced teacher. Get a lot of knowledge and achieve a high grade without any obstacles.

Professor Oventile was an amazing professor to have and I'm so glad I was able to be in his class. Although he assigned 3 long papers, he was able to give great feedback on all of them. The way he explains and writes down notes really helped me with writing the papers. I would definitely choose him for another english class. A very caring teacher.

One of my most favorite professors at PCC during my tenure there. He had an easy going persona and I felt relaxed asking him questions and he was always open to helping me out. His teaching style is clear and concise but not drawn out. Lots of assignments but fair grader. Balanced classroom activities and a varied assortment if assignments.

Professor Oventile is an amazing instructor. His lectures are engaging and he's always willing to help. For study prep, I found Unstuckstudy and the free textbook really helpful. Participation is appreciated, and the class is manageable. Highly recommended!
