this guy sucks, he assigns seats and then gives crappy participation grades to people who sit in the back. he grades reports like a REAL jerk, if you take this class at 8:15 in the morning i got two words for you: HAVE FUN!! UGH

This man knows Aviation. He literally, like most professors, WROTE the book on his subjects. If you are smart, you will make this man your friend since there is MUCH you can learn from him even outside of class.

He is a great professor! He knows what he is talking about and has earned his spot at this school! I loved his lectures and though his humor is like a Monty Python movie, he is funny!

Overall good class, if you simply study the power point slides the items highlighted in red and yellow are the items on the test, answer a few of the in class questions and you'll get an A in participation. Class was a breeze!

he is a funny teacher that give lots of chances to get a good grade. his grading in writing project is a little hard but is still great. Take him!!

Not a bad professor. Keeps class interesting and tests aren't too hard. The essays kinda suck, but he's right that you need to know how to write them in the real world.

This is a legistlation class not english. He has 4 tests, the first two has writing portions in it and he is rediculous in grading it. The other two test are okay as long as you the red and yellow highlights in his slides. Did not buy the book and am getting by with a B.

Professor Owen, Is a good teacher, however a fair portion of the class goes to report writing. Also I felt to much of the class was on the history of Legislation and should have been more focused on the more recent legislation that we have to deal with in the industry. He is not easy to deal with in the group and has firm views on his topics.

Not a bad teacher. As far as learning a lot, I don't think I am taking too much away from the course in the way of Aviation "Legislation." He isn't as rough of a grader as some are saying, you just really have to do what he asks (follow the directions). No need to pay attention in class, just read the slides before the test and you'll be just fine.

I had no expectations walking into his legislation class but was pumped to find out that emphasis would be on practical procedures. Owen is a very likeable and engaging prof. He is however NOT consequential in his grading and procedures. Very disappointing to see though I revised my ways and followed his instructions to the letter.ARBITRARY grading

Not easy, but fair. He gives detailed syllabus. Color codes slides for test relevance! Tells what's test relevant from book. No surprises, just pay attention! Not sure about writing and team project. But, he's worked in industry, military, education, so might know what he's talking about. Good class; be ready to work. Always willing to help.

Dr. Owen is straight and to the point with everything. Everything you do in the class is laid out to a "T" If you are in ROTC you will love this teacher, he is my favorite so fat at the school. Class is boring but its aviation legislation...not that interesting..aka not the teachers fault. He makes it interesting by telling his air force stories.

I had Owen for aviation legislation this past spring and he was by far one of my favorite profs at Embry-Riddle. It was a very easy class if you put forward the effort and pay attention. I never took notes but I always listened to his lectures and did the readings and got myself an A. He knows his stuff! Hope he reads this first day of class!

Professor Owen is a very intelligent person and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to aviation legislation. His presentations are informative and he usually tries to keep the class engaged. He has a high standard when it comes to the paper but for good reason. He is trying to set his students up to be knowledgable and professional.

Dr. Owen has a bit of a military aura in the way he interacts with the class. Some of his stories are interesting. I don't blame him for a rather bland class because the subject itself is not something to get excited for. Follow his instructions word for word, and it's a manageable class. (To Dr. Owen: I neither love nor hate you as a professor.)

Professor Owen is by far one of my favorite at Riddle. If you have any questions, he's always willing to answer them. I had him over summer and I'm glad I did. His stories are always entertaining and his class is very engaging. So, if you're on the fence about taking him- DO IT.

Great prof! He's a "no BS kinda guy" and gives real-world knowledge as opposed to textbook theory. He's also hilarious and has a life story relevant to the lessons. As long as you put in effort his class is a breeze. You'll learn a lot and enjoy doing it.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Phenomenal instructor. But to get your moneys worth then pick his brain after class bc he provides a ton of wisdom. When it comes to his tests and 2 projects he is straightforward and you have A PRACTICAL chance of excelling in his class. Literally do as he says and you will pass his class well.

Professor Owen is spectacular! His stories are funny and he has a dry sense of humor, which most appreciate. His class is not hard. Wanna pass? Just study the slides two days out and read them as if they were a story.. Easy A. He gives good feedback so your writing will improve. Take him! He is helpful during office hours and will help you succeed!

Professor Owen knows this subject very well, to the point where he has a personal anecdote for almost every situation. His class was enjoyable because the topic is actually interesting, however the powerpoints can be pretty dry, so be prepared to have coffee with you at all times to stay awake. There is a LOT of political discourse in class as well

He is a funny professor, no assignment, no reading, no study guide. Not a easy A, but a prepared A. flight profile really help to raise the grades, takes time but totally worth it

He is a good professor, real approachable. Could of graded the class with a few more tests, quizzes, and/or homework (Note: I said a few) than just the 3 tests and project. The 3 tests could make or break you, I'd recommend negotiating with him as a class early on about it. He takes criticism well, and tells great stories.

I don't understand why the ratings are low for Owen. He's genuinely a good guy. Plus, he literally highlights in red what will be on the test on his powerpoints. His stories and jokes made going to class at 8am not too bad. Also, around 45 minutes into the class, he gives students a five minute break. Very nice time for a quick nap!

I don't understand why the reviews are so bad. No homework. Not that hard to get an A if you put in the effort. the lecture can be boring though. The trick for the paper is to CHOOSE YOUR OWN TOPIC. It doesn't even have to be aviation-related and things will be a lot easier for you.

In order to do well on the tests, you will have to study and do all the readings he assigns, which can be a lot at times. However, the tests are straight forward and easy to ace if you do study. He assigns a report which is truly a pain but if you do well on the tests it should even out. Pretty funny guy too. Paper grading is cut-throat.

Dr. Owen was a really great teacher and I really enjoyed his class. Difficulty is based on the readings required by the FAA as it's a lot of reading and work. He is super funny with his jokes, but when it comes down to business, he knows his stuff. His stories were the best too and were very interesting. Definitely recommend Dr. Owen as a professor

Great professor with an interesting sense of humor. Provides real insight and some form of comic relief to the most boring class an AS student can take (254). Go over the PowerPoints and actually put an effort into the essay and it'll be an easy A.

Professor Owen is well one of a kind. His classes are filled with funny stories that have no relation to the actual class subject. The only thing that was tough about his class is the report he has you do. Im not sure what it has to do with the class and it seems pointless but it wasnt terrible. Hes a good guy with a good sense of humor.

The paper is irritating, I will admit. But every. single. time. that the paper was talked about in class he said he wants no fluff. If you're confused, bring your outline to his office hours. He will tell you exactly what he wants changed. The answers to the test are in the powerpoints and color coded. This class was ridiculously easy.

This class is graded by 3 tests, stages of your report and participation. The report is pretty easy if you follow the outline and put effort into the calculations. I chose the refugees in Congo report and got a 96 on it. The tests are based on the content he colors red and yellow, but make sure you understand the info, wording is different.

I had Dr. Owen for AS254 and he was great, he made sure that he taught every single thing that was going to be on the 3 tests in the class. The writing project was a little tough but it was totally do able. As a professor he is very respectable and he inserts life stories that are relevant to the material so it keeps them light hearted & fun.

His teaching style was different, but I actually enjoyed that aspect. Some of the projects were a little confusing but the lectures were entertaining. The professor can be strict when his standards within students are not met, but most of the time it's just his sarcasm. I can understand the mixed feelings about him, just be attentive in his class.

He's a pretty good professor, he talks a lot but that's how he is. You'll be fine if you go to class and take notes on the slides. Make sure to read the readings. Very straightforward.
