If you do not have three hours a day to study for his class, you'll never pass.
Hard because of material, not him. Do the problems before class or else dont go
If you go to class you should be all set, assuming you understand the material.
Nice guy. Hard class. Study every night or your grade will suffer.
The work is hard enough without him reminding you every day of how tough he is.
This man has instilled in me a lifelong hatred of accounting.
Seems like a nice guy, but he's not, he reminds you how stupid you are all da
Acted nice, don't let him fool you. Rediculous grading system. Taught myself.
Going to class was pointless. Trully the WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD AT UD!
Makes class impossible, made me hate accounting, tries to seem nice but hes not
Nice man who somehow failed to TEACH the material...do plenty of book problems
Good class b/c it made you learn accounting the real way.
do the problems, learn the problems, understand the problems
Class is pointless, talks about himself too much, taught a little at the end
RIDICULOUS!DON'T TAKE HIM!GIVES HONORS TESTS TO EVERY 1.MUST GET 75 ON 1ST TEST
worst class ever, doesn't teach just goes over homework, impossible tests
Hard Subject, taught myself and did decent...Class is somewhat pointless, do HW

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. HE IS THE HITLER OF ACCOUNTING.
Good Prof. He makes you work for the grade. Would take his class again.

seems like a nice guy, but tough class if you don't have plenty of time to study

Subject is hard, good professor overall, "eat elephant one bite at a time."

Too damn hard for people like me, and he is not compassionate at all.
bad teacher, made me feel stupid &hate accounting...makes you call him uncle bob
Avoid this class like the plague. He is intimidating & selfcentered
A very POOR teacher - Perhaps he should worry more about his students than about
HW helps undrstnding his class-DO IT! weird man, but not unfair;tests on HW info
If you do not take your accting courses very seriously do not take Dr. P
great professor, you'll learn a lot from him.
Hardest course, best professor. The Reason I passed the FARE part of the CPA.

Dr. P is always willing to help, just be sure to do what he says.
LISTEN TO THIS MAN!!! HE KNOWS OF WHAT HE SPEAKS!
The best teacher I met, who made you love accounting
Would hire any student that passes his class.
if u want to pass cpa, u'd better take his class.
follow his class, you'll build your confidence
His class is for mature students who knows how to study and study hard.
Great teacher! Made me realize hard work does pay off.
One of the best teacher in Delaware. After acct 315,316 is more fun.
best teacher for his teaching skills. what is learned tuition paid.
Dr.Paretta is always willing to help if students want to learn.
Helpful, fair tests, must stay on top of the HW & course material.
great professor, he knows how to push you to learn acctg.
great teacher, provides lots of supplemental handouts, always available to help
challenging course, but you'll learn a lot with Dr. P. Prepares you for CPA exam
challening professor, but very fair. cares about his students and very helpful.

very fair to every one, and nice help for your studying.
Acct 316 requires lots of efforts. The professor does a good job is explaining.
wonderful professor. Wonderful handouts. I still keep them as reference.
exellent

He is a little turp and thinks he is god..
Doesn't teach at all. All he talks about is his cars. Terrible teacher
horrible teacher, no help at all, take van leer
Needs to learn how to teach. Take anyone but him if you want to learn acct!!!
Horrible teacher...if you can even call him that.?! Take a different teacher
extremly hard but u will learn from uncle bob
was really pondering stealing his laptops with the grades on them
Unlce Bob's a GREAT GUY! He'll make u work but it's well worth it! Recommended!
Mst faild course at UNIV bc of him, teaches like u have studied acct for 25yrs
impossible exams&grading, get out now before you fail too
Can be nice or wack, tests are hard, stay on top of work, Class sucks
AWESOME prof but it's best to start w/ him in 207 b/c then you know his style
not bad class, must do ALL of work
He sucks and he doesn't encourage you, don't take him!!!
He sucks! He will not help you unless you are an A student. Get out!!!!
he spent more time telling us how great of a teacher he is than actually teaching us
He's tough, but his students historically have scored very well on the CPA... take him if you want to learn a LOT and work hard.
He makes this course extremely difficult. You will have to devote alot of time. He doesn't teach either- just talks about how successful he is and how all his past students love him now b/c they passed the CPA.
NEVER EVER TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. HE IS THE WORSE GUY WHEN IT COMES TO EXAMS AND GRADING. HE KNOWS ALOT BUT HE EXPECTS US TO KNOW ALOT TOO AND HE FORGETS THAT WE ARE STILL STUDENTS AND LEARNING. UNCLE BOB NEEDS TO RETIRE!!!
RUN, don't walk from this guy! He is HORRIBLE. UD should fire him ASAP & give an apology to all his students. Please, if you wanna pass, don't take him. Take Debassay or Kingery instead! Paretta doesnt teach!
absolute ass. don't even think about taking him. Debessay is nice easy and a lot more clear. same goes for kingery. paretta knows a lot but is a total ass.
SUCKS
Best teacher I have ever had. I failed firsy exam. Took advice ended with an A. Expect lots of hard work or you will fail. Still best despite what slackers say.
One of the best profs I ever had. Tough because the course was tough. People who don't like him should look within themselves for lack of success
Quality professor. Never gives away the answers, but helps you get to it. Hard work pays off. If you don't plan to spend 3-4 hours per week doing work outside class, don't expect an 'A'. If you didn't like the guy or didn't do well, you didn't do enough work.
I did well in this class (B: should have been a B+, but Bob doesn't give plusses). I would advise stongly against taking a course with Uncle Bob. I am a night student in the MBA program and I did not have the necessary 10 extra hours a week to devote to his 'study plan'. He needs to get a job outside of the ivory tower and give a little! Retire!
Uncle Bob really sucks @ teaching. In fact, I can't even say that because he doesn't teach. This is how the class works: you will have 5+ hours of homework per class, in class take 2 hrs going over it, & the rest of the time is spent reading a noteshe

Uncle Bob knows his stuff and expects you to put in a lot of work in order to succeed. If you do, you'll have accounting down pat. If not, you're going to fail. It's a hard class, but never unfair. Some people may not like his style or personality, others really do. There's not a lot of in-between there.
Worst class I ever took. You are told to teach yourself the material by reading every chapter 3 times and studying 20 hours a week. Nothing is ever tought in class, but if you don't attend, valuable test information is withheld from you and you won't be "invited" to the review session or be able to participate in a curve if there is one.
Let me start by saying, I am a hard worker, Im not a slacker, but this course really blindsided me. The test questions were 9x harder than the ones we had done for practice and he creates numerous pitfalls designed to make you fail. He is a very smart man who knows his stuff but expects alot from people who are still learning. Take someone else.
Had Uncle Bob for 315&316 and got A in both. It's hard work, but eventually you learn a lot. Think seriously about accounting? Definitely take him.
By far the worst professor that I have had at UD. He also gives 10-20 extra pages of notes that you must know for each test in addition to the text material. He is a very rude man that would rather talk about how much money he has then actually teach students. Do yourserlf a huge favor and take Debassy instead.
Uncle Bob is tough, but VERY fair. He's ALWAYS willing to help students. Undergrads may not like the work load, but MBA students should not be shocked. Plan on 10-15 hrs/week of homework and studying to get an A.
SO FRUSTRATING. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW HARD YOU STUDY, HE DESIGNS HIS TESTS FOR FAILURE. TAKES OFF 2 POINTS FOR EVERY ERROR, IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WELL, HE EXPECTS US TO HAVE UPPER LEVEL ACCT KNOWLEDGE AS STUDENTS...HORRIBLE
Bad and bad, dont take his class
I took Uncle Bob for 3 different classes when I was at UD 4 years ago as an Acct Major. If you are serious about becoming a CPA then CHOOSE UNCLE BOB! I cannot stress this enough. He prepared me for the FARE section of the CPA so well and I now have my CPA license. I will forever be grateful for Uncle Bob =)
Horrible professor! Doesn't teach the material. Spends the whole class period talking about how amazing he is and judging you for not spending 5 hours a day on his class! Doesn't care about his students.
Is very tough, but fair. I didnt think his teaching style was good while I was taking him, but looking back I realize that I learned a lot in his class. His teaching style is very structured. Put in the time and effort to study for his class, don't slack off, and attend class so you'll be on his good side.
Dr. Paretta is a wonderful teacher. He cares about his students and is passionate about accounting. The course is difficult, but that is to be expected for an MBA level class. Do the homework and listen in class and an A is yours.
Dr. Paretta is a passionate Accounting professor, you will learn a lot about Accounting and Life from him if you are willing and eager to learn - His class is structured and challenging but you will be successful in it if you are fully dedicated.
This class if very very challenging - but you know what you're getting in to up front. His tests are hard, but if you study you can do alright. There aren't surprises, just a ton of material to learn. Offers incentive plans if you improve. End of semester project helps grades.
This course needs a lot of lecturing and explanations. Uncle Bob has an experience in the field, but does not put the effort required for student to understand. The handouts he provides are so confusing. Put in your mind that you are going to study 80% of the "hard material" by yourself.
Awesome class, but challenging and time intensive. He gives you a blueprint on what is required to do well that is very accurate. Do not expect to listen to the lectures, do some homework and get an A. You MUST put in the time. You will benfit more from lectures if you do the work first.
Does nothing to prepare for ridiculous tests. Has huge ego and spends the class bragging about his money. Reads notes off a slide. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. You can study for weeks and fail. I've never encountered a worse professor at Delaware
Graduated a few years ago with an accounting degree from UD. Dropped out of this class my jr year to take an easier teacher. I now wash dishes for a living, sleep in my parents basement, make <30000 a year, and have no working knowledge of accounting. wish I had retaken this class with paretta; maybe i'd have some use for my accounting degree.
Uncle Bob is only hard if you do not work hard. He expects a lot out of his students and the more you put in, the more he puts out. The textbook is used extensively, so if you don't like reading your screwed. Overall, he knows his stuff and is a great teacher.
Very difficult prof for the course but you will come out of it knowing so much more than with any other teacher. It is definitely worth the extra effort to have him as a professor for this course.
Heavy dependance on book and extremely difficult tests. Deducts large amount of points for tiny mistakes. Cares about students, but isn't afraid to insult their intelligence in class (especially after a poor quiz). 90% of learned material you teach yourself. Expects you to devote most of your time to his class only (10 hour a week minimum).
Extremely hard tests that test on basically your knowledge of the accounting profession in nearly its entirety. Goes over little in class before slamming you with hard tests and takes off for just about anything that might be remotely off. Believes he is god to a class that everyone should work at for at least 10 hours a week and 2000 or more pages
Probably one of the most entertaining professors I've ever had. This guy actually manages to make accounting somewhat interesting. Very humorous and respectful. I would definitely recommend him.
Very difficult, but you will learn a lot. Very humorous, and will often apply concepts to real world situations. Classes are more of a supplementary tool. Main learning comes from reading the book. Read the book. Read it. Read the book and you will do well.
Tough but SO worth it. You'll walk away with a thorough knowledge of not only how to read financial statements but also a good understanding of the individual components on them. Tests are tough but if you do the reading and work outside of class you'll reap the benefits, plus multiple chances to redeem yourself. FOLLOW THE PLAN and good luck!
"Uncle Bob" is an excellent professor- very humorous and candid, keeps students engaged. While you could probably just learn from the book, his insights and connections in class are valuable. Final project challenging but very useful. Exams are not difficult if you prepare; offers "incentive plan" to improve grades.
Very nice, funny, and motivational. Expects unrealistic amount of time for this class, you have to teach yourself everything, b/c class is spent going over hw that you probably wont understand on your own. if you arent honors, DO NOT TAKE HIM because the other prof is so much easier and averages in this class are so much lower. hardest class at UD
avoid him if you can. final project is way too advanced for intro to accounting students and not helpful. I will have to relearn accounting principles in order to build a better foundation for my career. his grading is ok, doesn't use +/-, offers nice incentives but are tough to meet. if you take him, read the textbook plenty, and good luck.
I took Paretta for ACC 316 in 1982, 31 years ago. I scored in the 90s on all four parts of the exam. I can remember specific things he said during the classes to this day. YES, he is hard, but if you are serious about being successful in this profession you should take him. You are entering a profession where 7 figure earnings are common.
Worst professor I have ever taken. You are expected to read a 2000 page book 3 times through. He does not teach, he only goes over homework problems in class and then tells you how dumb you are if you get it wrong instead of helping understand. He slams everyone with the exams, after not having taught anything to us. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Best learning experience ever. Definitely requires consistent effort. I felt bad for the students that did not follow his directions for success in the class (he hands you a 3 page document on day 1 detailing how to succeed in the class). If you don't want to look like an idiot on the job when financial acctg comes up, take Paretta!!!
Prof. Paretta is literally my favorite professor I've ever had at Udel. His class (at least Acct207 anyways) is not at all horrible as people have noted. Yeah he expects you to read the book but in all honesty there isn't much time for him to teach you in class. The project at the end of the semester is long but not too hard. He's also hilarious!
Paretta's a great guy with a good sense of humor. Just make sure you study diligently for all of the tests. The first exam is very easy and I figured it would be the same way for the second exam, and that mentality ended up hurting my final grade (still ended with a B). Planning on taking 315H next year with him as my professional elective.
Incredible professor, truly wants and requires the best out of his students. Exams are difficult, but Uncle Bob is understanding and does everything in his power to help students out and prepare them. If you are planning on taking CPA in future, take Uncle Bob for Intermediate.
Paretta is a really nice guy, funny, & he does care about the students. That being said, this class is entirely on you. Frustrating at times because 95% of the stuff you go over in class isn't on the exams.. calls it FYI. You will have to teach yourself the material, but you do learn a lot more by doing so. Tough class, worked my butt off for a B.
Paretta is tough. If you're looking for an easy A look elsewhere, but if you want to learn there is no one better. You will know accounting better than anyone who took it with a different professor. He is a good teacher but the way his class is set up he will only help you if you ask for it. Quizzes do not count but take them seriously.
Uncle Bob is the man. If you're an accounting major, definitely take his class because you will come out so much more prepared than the other 207 classes. You need to follow his course guidelines if you want to do well, so be sure to take them seriously. He's also hilarious in class which makes learning accounting so much better. Highly recommend
I think I would have liked this class if not for Paretta. You have to teach yourself everything because Uncle Bob won't, since he only teaches "FYI", non-tested material and tells you all about how accounting is a life of sex & danger. He is smart and knows alot, just doesn't seem to want to actually teach.
In accounting you either get it or you don't. Dr. Paretta is a really good teacher for those who get it, but it's easy to get lost if you don't. The good thing about Dr. Paretta is hes always available by email for any questions, he really cares about his students, and gives out grading incentives and tries to help you along the way so no one fails
Paretta is the man. I took this class online and he's one of the only professors I've had that can still translate the classroom vibe via zoom, and the guy is like 85. If you're looking for an easy course, this isn't it. But, if you want to actually learn the material and come out prepared, look no further. Very exam heavy they make up your grade
