Parr is my most favorite prof so far! he is so funny, keeps class fun. first few test were easy! he helps a lot and never makes you feel stupid when you ask a question! also makes a good effort to get to know everyone too
Parr is my most fav professor at blinn! he keeps class really fun and doesnt make you feel stupid if you have a question! i actually enjoy his class, and EW its math! the first two tests are easy too! (till you start probability). take him!
Mr. Parr keeps you focused and has review sessions before tests. I've recommended all my friends take him. i'm taking him for 1325 next semester. He's HELPFUL and CARES! He doesn't move on until the class says that we get it! GREEAT TEACHER!!
Mr. Parr is awesome. He's always hyper and in a good mood. He's really easy to understand & is a really good teacher
Mr. Parr is a good professor. His test reviews are somewhat helpful, He goes over questions that you have. He is never wrong... He is funny. The class is still hard. He will provide typed notes for each class(fill in the blanks), reviews, and take-home quizzes and he always provided all solutions to review(before test), and test(after test).
If you put forth the effort you can make an A in this class. He grades to your benefit and gives partial credit. MathXL and Text Book are both used. Test reviews online. Review for the Final is the day of before the exam, so if you have questions he'll answer them for you.
Shows that he cares about his students. Great teacher!
Dr. Parr was a great teacher. He is very well organized with lecture and provides notes for you, so all you have to do is fallow along and fill in the blanks. He?s hilarious and makes class fun. The class isn?t easy per-say, but if you show up for class and do the homework you'll be just fine. The homework can be lengthy and you have to do math xl
Best math teacher i've ever had! He's a great teacher, keeps you interested in the subject, and is very funny. Take him if you get the chance, you really won't regret it!
I didn't like Parr. His reviews are NOT exactly like the test. A LOT of take-home quizzes. He will not accept late work; if you walk in 15 minutes late he won't accept your quiz, and at least once he rejected mine but then accepted one from a GIRL who came in 5 minutes later than me, albeit she may have had a pre-arranged excuse I don't know about.
Mr. Parr is an awesome teacher! I highly recommend taking him for this class. You do need to go everyday because it is easy to get lost in the material and you need to do all the problems assigned in the book, it helps! He has an awesome attitude towards his job. Just do the work and go to class and you will pass this class with ease!
I did not like him at all.. I dropped his class! Worst teacher!
I have always stuggled with math. Mr. Parr is by far the best teacher i have ever had. He really explains things and has a way of making them easy, even if you struggle like myself.
Good teacher that explains well through powerpoints and answers questions. Lots of take-home quizzes. But lets be honest, math is always difficult. Tests are hard and require a lot of studying. The notes he provide and the study guide he gives is also pretty useful.
Parr is my favorite professor he makes math fun for the most part prob the best math teacher i know although you do have homework almost every night and one take home quiz but its not bad and the homework is due right before the test so you have like 3 weeks to do it but i would def take him if i was you
It's a really hard class if you don't like math or aren't good at it. But he really does try to help you and he knows what he's doing. Lots of homework, but if you do it all you'll pass the tests. He's a great teacher, his class is always fun!
Absolutely the best math teacher I've ever had.
AMAZING TEACHER!!!! Everything he teaches is interesting, and his lectures are super fun. A lot of homework and busy work, but it's very beneficial. The homework is always harder than the tests. I've never made a good grade in math before and he is my first A.
Way cool. Super handsome. Very funny, but means business. Willing to explain until you understand it, but essentially expects you to know your stuff. His "first day" talk is intimidating, but funny. You need to have decent math skills or you won't keep up!
Awesome Teacher. He is very helpful. I would have done a lot better if I would have done my HW from the beginning. DO YOUR HW or you will fail. I went to one of the top districts in Texas and he was definitely my best math teacher ever. TAKE HIM YOU WILL LEARN
Very good math teacher. Extremely funny. Really loves what he's teaching and is always more than willing to help you to better understand. I always made A's on the tests when I did the HW! Would definitely take him again!
As far as math teachers go, best personality you could possibly imagine, HILARIOUS. As far as teaching goes, just as good- Very clear when explaining his lectures, class and tests are not hard, received 100s on 3 of the 4 test and made a 97 in the class. Take him
Awesome teacher! Not your typical boring math teacher. If you go over the exam reviews it is possible to make 100s on all of the exams and also to get an easy A.
Took a summer minimester with him.. it was great! He was funny and taught in way I could easily understand. He replaced the lowest test grade with the final if it was better. I made a 94. GREAT TEACHER. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Mr. Parr is a funny guy. But his 1414 class is overwhelming with the amount of work he makes you do. If you do not like math DO NOT TAKE HIM! he thinks everyone knows everything before teaching the class and just tells you what to do and thats it
AWESOME TEACHER! He makes class fun to attend. I'm TERRIBLE at math (had to drop this class once before) he really explains things in the most simple way possible. Offers a lot of additional things that are very helpful such as reminder texts, and records every class period so if you miss you can listen and watch everything that happened that day
Great teacher, the class is a lot of work, but I didn't feel like any of it was in excess of what was necessary to learn the material. Online homework for sections covered are due Sunday night @ midnight. Reviews posted on eCampus are very helpful. I would take him if you can!
Parr is AWESOME. He's hilarious, which ends up making class more fun. It's a difficult class for sure. You DEFINITELY have to study. But he is always willing to help. Quizzes are all take home quizzes (so you can use your notes). A LOT of homework online, but they're usually easy. Tests are difficult, but study hard and you'll do fine! Got a B.
One of the greatest math teachers i've ever had. very clear during lectures, has all his notes printed out at the copy center and he's hillarious, which makes class a blast to attend. Deffinitely take him, quizes are take home, tests are average, study and you'll do fine, more book HW than online, definitely keep up with book HW.
Really cool guy great teacher very helpful, but test average is a 50 with no curve.
Mr. Parr is an awesome guy and an awesome teacher. I'm about to finish his class for this semester at an 8:00 am but it's not that bad waking up because he is always upbeat. Funny dude and wants to help you a lot. It isn't a joke class though, you have to do your work or you won't do good. Fairly easy if you keep up. Highly Recommend!!
By FAR the greatest math teacher I have ever had. He has notes ready to go every class and solves them out in giant legible handwriting on the projector. He takes time to make sure everyone understands and he's hilarious. He assigns lots of homework but it's easy to get an A on it. Tests are really easy. He's a great prof. Take him.
Hilarious guy, but I would not recommend. He will give easy examples in class, so you leave feeling like you understand the material, then the tests are complicated and difficult. He gives a ton of book work due the day of the test but only grades 5 random problems, so you end up trying to finish the homework in time instead of being able to study.
Great guy, horrible teacher. His notes were so simplified it made studying for the test and doing homework extremely tough. Be prepared to buy the book and use it a whole lot. I failed every test because the class was so homework intensive I was struggling to get done with the homework with no time to study for the test. I do not advise this class!
seems nice and was pretty funny but is a horrible professor. The amount of homework is insane and was like having another full time job. I'm no stranger to hard work and am an A student but FAILED his exams because he moves way too fast and only teaches you the hardest possible way to do the problems. He made it all so confusing. DO NOT TAKE!!!
He goes out of his way to help you succeed. Book HW,online HW and take home quizzes, its a lot but all of these things help you to understand. He Even gives reviews, records lectures, and helps during office hours. He really cares, I am confused why anyone would say he is a bad teacher. He is one of the best I have ever had. Glad I took this class.
Master P is an awesome professor. I was surprised that anyone would say he is difficult or a bad prof. There was a lot of homework but as long as you truly did it, that's all the studying you needed for the tests. His tests were very straight forward and he took time to make sure everyone understood before moving on. Love professor Parr! Got a 93.
He goes at a steady pace and is ready to help. As long as you look over the material and do the reviews, the tests aren't difficult. Would definitely recommend.
Great professor. One of my favorites of my first semester at Blinn College. Lots of homework but if you stay on top of it you'll do fine. Homework isn't hard. Tests are straight from the notes. Come to class, pay attention, do your homework and you'll get an A.
Prof. Parr is by far the best math teacher I've had. There is a lot of homework (both textbook and online), but if you do it all and keep up with it you will do fine. Also, DO THE REVIEWS. He records him doing the review and puts it online, and even though it's optional they help with the test. He's hilarious and makes class fun. I RECOMMEND
He is quick when taking notes so dont sleep, he will go on without you. You will have to study each question type from the notes as it is only one example of what you need to do on the test. He clearly states what you need to know from each type of problem and how to solve it. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! It helps both the HW grade and helps you for the test.
This dude is amazing! He made me love math and makes classes so much fun! We say in class he gives you the "Parr experience". He tells funny anecdotes that make everyone crack up :) He is really clear and he gives take home quizzes but he doesn't assign them till we have covered everything that is in it and he posts the answers online afterwords.
Mr. Parr is an amazing professor. If you like to understand the subject from the simplest point of view, then I recommend you to take this class. The best way to study for this class is to do the assigned homework that he gives you. He really enjoys teaching and will help you whenever you need it.
Really cool teacher. He's not very good at doing step by step for the problems but if you ask him to go back over something he will help you. I would take him again.
Mr. Parr was okay. I took calculus before so the class wasn't that hard for me. There is a lot of regular homework but you can make an A. He explains everything pretty well, makes jokes and is a good teacher in general. The only thing I did not like is that he makes fun of international students. But if you are white you should be fine!
Mr. Parr is a great professor. The notes are pretty straightforward, as long as you attend class you will understand everything in the notes. Expect a decent amount of textbook homework if you take him, however the homework it good practice. The exams are very similar to the quizzes, if you can do those , you'll be well prepared come test time.
Parr is a good professor! He makes class fun and is there to help. There is always online homework and textbook homework, but they are very helpful. He gives take home quizzes. If you do the work, you should make at least a B if not an A. I highly recommend!!
He can be a real jerk sometimes, at first I thought he was super nice but when I went to him for help he was really rude. He skips steps when he's teaching and he gives a lot of tests. I'm terrible at math and he really didn't help me because I felt like I taught myself everything; barely made a B in the class.
Lectures are easy to follow but there is a disconnect when it comes to the tests. You cannot pass this class without studying and homework takes hours.
One of the best math professors I've ever had. He gives it to you straight and teaches the material in a funny and from-the-shoulder way. Knows what he's talking about and knows how to convey it over to students.
This is the worst math teacher I have ever had. He leaves hours upon hours of homework and skips steps when hes explaining making it super hard to follow. The tests are also way harder than the class work and unless you study for hours you wont make a good grade. Ended up getting a D, retook with a different teacher and got an A! DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Great teacher. His teaching style is very clear and easy to understand. Math has never been my strong suit, but he made it easier for me. He does assign a fair amount of online homework, but only a few select problems from textbook. He has a sense of humor, and gets to know his students. I highly recommend him!
He does give a lot of homework, but it's reasonable. All the problems you do are pretty similar to those in the textbook and in the course packet which you will need for the notes. He gives take home quizzes which are a plus and the tests might be a little tougher, but if you do the review and understand it then you'll be able to pass.
Best math instructor I've ever had
I'm average at math & some parts of the class itself I struggled with but Parr is great. A lot of homework, online homework & quizzes but they're extremely helpful for tests. Grades quickly & posts all correct answers online so you can learn from it. Gives reviews & all lectures are recorded & posted if you miss class. If you do the hw, you'll pass
I took him this past semester for 1414 and he's awesome. He's funny and he loves what he teaches. His homework and reviews match what you will see on the tests and he's helpful if you don't understand something. He also gives a take home quiz every other week and will replace lowest test grade with the final! I'm taking him again for Calc 1!
There is textbook homework due almost every class over the material learned from the last lecture, which you are expected to complete. Parr was really good about not asking questions on tests that we didn't see on homework or quizzes, which was very helpful. He is very good about making sure the students understand and welcomes questions.
Mr Parr is an excellent teacher. As with many classes he provides online practice exams from the past that are IMMENSELY useful for studying. Go to office hours with questions, that's also extremely helpful.
Professor Parr is an amazing teacher! He is very funny and one of the best math professors I have ever had. Lectures are recorded incase you miss class, notes are very clear and helpful. Do the online and textbook homework and you will be prepared for the tests.
Homework was simple enough and he spends the time in class to explain everything. Plus he's super cool
He keeps the class entertaining and explains things very well. Tests aren't hard at all since he uses questions similar to ones done in class, plus math 1324 isn't too difficult in its own. I'd definitely recommend taking him.
His classes are fun, but if you want to pass you would want to have a good focused teacher. He rushes through the work, leaving some who aren't super strong at math pretty confused. Would not suggest if math is not you're best subject.
This was my second time taking this math and Professor Parr explained it to where i actually knew what I was doing. I genuinely enjoyed going to his class because he made math "fun". I would former take his class again.
Best Blinn prof I've had. He seems to go fast at times but if you have a question or concern he is more than happy to stop and help you out. His lectures are actually enjoyable and made going to class fun. He is always eager to help after class during study hours or whenever he is free in his office. Also he uses Remind 101 which is very useful.
He gave everyone an equal opportunity to ace this class by providing online material that we could practice and learn from. It all depends whether you chose to study or not. He did an excellent job as a professor. Plus he's so funny.
An actual math Professor that could discuss Eminen, Lil Wayne, and derivatives in lecture.
Parr is an amazing prof. He makes lectures interesting and simple. There is a good bit of homework and exams but that's a given for any math class. Ultimately, I love math so I got an A but a majority of my class seemed to struggle. This goes for any class but, if you pay attention and do the assignments, there's no reason you shouldn't do fine.
Such a great professorr! He is super funny and he always lightened up my mood about going to math class. He gives take home quizes that help a lot. Also, he gives reviews are very similar to the exam.
Excellent math teacher! He knows what he's doing, and makes really funny jokes that make the whole class laugh. (If you watch The Office, he's exactly like Andy Bernard lol). He's a great teacher, and lecturer. He's always willing to answer any questions you have. Make sure you come to class or you'll be lost, but he uses Tegrityjust in case.
Mr. Parr is an AMAZING professor, he is super helpful and makes learning math so easy! I would seriously take his class if you're able to. There is a quite a bit of homework but manageable! There are take home quizzes every week, which are helpful, reviews for the exams. He also sends out reminds and he's always available during office hours!
Mr. Parr is an excellent and funny teacher. The homework in 1414 can be somewhat on the heavy side. Pay attention in class, do the homework and you should have no trouble passing this course. He uses remind to keep everyone on track and he is usually available for office hours.
Professor Parr was a very straightforward person and knowledgeable about what he taught. He gave everyone the same chance to achieve a good grade in his course which by nature is not easy but he made it manageable. He was accessible outside of class and if you could not make it he offered to set up an alternate time. Overall one of the best!
Professor Parr was an awesome teacher! Throughout High School I was never good at math but he made it super easy! Love the way he teaches and explains things. He puts up old exams to study for your tests. I just did those and made A's on all my tests. Just go to class, stay on top of your work and you'll make an A, easily. I would take him again!!
He seems nice. But in my situation, he's horrible. I have issues & not able to be on time for his 8 a.m. classes. He doesn't care if my only way to make it on time is to stay up all night. Meet with him but he's very unreasonable in this case. I get dropped with an 88 test average. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU HV MENTAL ILLNESS. He won't understand
After q-dropping Cal 1 with Mathison the semester before, I was blown away by Mr. Parr. He's hilarious, and I enjoyed going to his class even though Math isn't my favorite. He keeps everyone engaged, all quizzes are take home, and there are old exams to study for tests. Truly a great math prof at blinn. Take him.
I took Mr. Parr during the summer for Calculus 2. He was a really good professor, but the class itself was somewhat difficult because you had to learn all of calculus 2 in four weeks. Although, if you have him during the semester, you should be fine. He is willing to help you with anything you need and will explain it in multiple ways.
Absolutely great teacher, worked with all students and made material very understandable. If you pay attention it is an easy A.
Very nice and funny, also very understanding regarding absences.
Mr. Parr was one of the funniest, nicest math teachers I've ever had! I was always excited for his class because he always made the material so enjoyable to learn. The only downside is that his tests are twenty questions, so you really need to know the material. He's such a chill guy, he's more than willing to explain when you're confused.
Mr Parr wants to help his students in anyway he can. He's a great teacher and is interesting to listen too. Not boring at all. There are 4 tests, many MyMathLab assignments, and many take home quizzes. He is easily accessible. He cares. One thing that stuck out to me is that he memorizes his classes names. If you are confused HE WILL HELP YOU!
I loved class with Professor Parr! He is hilarious & truly wants his students to do well. He makes a subject that's very tough for most people into a really enjoyable learning environment. Take advantage of the onlines test reviews and keep up with your homework by unit and you will be successful!
He is a very nice man and I think he is a great professor. I do not recommend taking him for anything above pre-calculus. I took him for calc 2 and half of the class was failing. Class average on the final was a 58 and he refused to curve. I will be transferring a semester late because his lack of helpfulness.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE MATH PROFESSORS. Parr explained everything in such great detail and he NEVER made you feel dumb for not knowing something or not understanding. He sends out reminders when things are due and his take home quizzes and tests were fair if you study and did the hw. DO THE HW it's an easy 100. Super nice, funny, and cares!!!
I had Mr. Parr for both Cal I and Cal II and I couldn't have asked for better. Both Cal classes will be hard but if you can get Mr. Parr, go out of your way to get him.
Wow. Amazing. Definitely Mr. Incredible. Never makes mistakes. Good humor. Well dressed. Father. You can tell he spends time in the gym.
Took him for a winter mini semester online and it wasn't bad at all. He makes lectures for each chapter and explains everything in a really easy way to understand. The exams were multiple choice and just like the reviews. There was online hw due for each section but thats expected for an online class. Great guy and you should really take if u can
Parr is a great prof! He is funny and makes class enjoyable. He sends out reminders for homework/due dates and is accessible outside of class. Class is graded from online homework, textbook homework, take home quizzes, 4 exams and a final. Tests can be challenging, but definitely manageable if you prepare well.
Parr is an awesome guy. He keeps lectures entertaining and also explains things very well. Calc 2 is harder than calc 1, but he makes it enjoyable and cares about how well you do. Parr is the best prof for calculus for sure
Parr was my favorite professor this semester. Even though his lectures were long and covered complex topics, he did a very good job of keeping class engaging. He has a great sense of humor and he is very enthusiastic about teaching the material. Cal II is a hard course, so taking it with Parr is your best bet.
Mr. Parr is an outstanding professor! He will provide you with every bit of skill needed in this course. Plenty review material for you to do well on tests.
He goes super fast
Terrible. I'm in his online 1324 class and I was studying for a major exam when I realized he never put certain things that were on the review in his actual online lectures. I had to stay in the library from 9pm until 9am the next morning (no joke) teaching myself math.
Professor Parr is the best math professor EVER! He makes the lectures very enjoyable and extremely easy to understand. Also, you can text him from remind at anytime and he responds quick. Couldn't have asked for a better professor!
Professor Parr was amazing this semester. He posts the exams from the previous year on eCampus. Do them. They're exactly like the tests. Also online and textbook homework every week but it was really easy to keep up and make an A.
Lectures were fantastic with his jokes and class interaction. Online HW once a week and textbook/worksheet HW collected on test dates. Past tests are posted on his ecampus, which are basically exactly the same as the current ones just with different scenarios. Makes math applicable to the real world which I appreciated. Highly highly recommend!
I took him for Engineering Calc 1 and 2, and wished I had him for Calc 3. He explains the material very well, posts solutions, and considers students' well-being. He cares for his class. BUT you need to work for it. Do the hw, reviews for tests(which are recycled tests), and be prepared to show your work. My only complaint is that he likes Gumby's.
Amazing professor! Created a course packet that has all the notes available, records every lecture so you can go back and rewatch the lectures if needed. Makes class fun and easy to learn. Quizzes are taken home and you can work in groups to make sure you did it right. If you do the homework and work hard on the quizzes the tests are easy
Parr is a great Prof. If you listen to his lectures and do the book work you will be just fine. Also he replaces your lowest test grade with your final exam grade!
I was worried about this course since it has the reputation for being the hardest of the calculus sequence. Calc II sucks but Parr makes it very bearable. He explains topics clearly enough in class and on top of that he gives out a ton of homework so that way you will get good at solving problems. I haven't watched a single prof leonard video. 1/1
Professor Parr is a funny guy however, he does not prepare you well for the exams. There is also a lot of homework and he makes it seem as if his class is the only one you are taking.
Parr is an amazing teacher, probably one of the best Calc profs Iv'e ever had. There is a lot of homework, but it helps prepare you for the tests. His lectures are great and he posts old tests that help a lot when reviewing for an upcoming test. Highly recommend him!!
Took Mr. Parr for Calculus 1 and he was really great. Lots of homework and quizzes, and the exams are pretty tough, but he really cares about his students and he is an all around great guy. You'll no doubt have a fun time in his class. Take him for calculus!
Dr. Parr is the man! If you get this guy for Calc 2 you are set. Final is pretty easy and tests are fairly difficult but he really prepares you well. I would totally take him again. Super chill and always cracking jokes to keep the class interested.
Mr Parr is an excellent calc teacher. Even though the lectures can be boring, they cover the entirety of the note packet which makes it easy to study for tests. Tests are fairly easy as they are just like the reviews. LOTS AND LOTS OF HOMEWORK! Do not take Mr Parr if you're not willing to put in the work as you will find he is a tough grader.
My high school did not offer calculus so I was very lost. He claimed you did not need a previous background in calculus to get by, this is a lie. He teaches at a very accelerated speed and does not accommodate office hours if you work or have class during his scheduled hours. Also has no sympathy if someone passes away in your family.
Professor Parr inconsiderate regarding trying to arrange for physical remote proctoring. Did not work with me and threatened to Q Drop me if I could not find an applicable proctoring area. Posted reviews last minute which gave no time to study and essentially assumed this was the only class you are taking. Does not believe in curving or EC.
Mr. Parr was always available when he said he would be. I tried my best in class and went in during his office hours for everything. the grade I got on the final should've given me a 79 but he did curved something and boosted me to the B I needed to transfer, all just bc I tried. I'll always be grateful for him doing that for me.
I took this in the may minimester so it was quite the course load, but Parr is the best and everything is very easy to follow along with. Just make sure you stay on track with assignments and he is always quick to get back even if it later at night. He is the best and I highly recommend this class!!
Parr was hilarious and made lectures fun. I would definitely recommend attending class to make sure you understand how he wants you to learn each concept. There is quite a bit of outside homework and quizzes, but nothing too crazy.
He is a really great teacher who makes learning fun and wants to do whatever he can to help you understand and learn the material. Highly recommend!
Prof Parr made the class easy to follow, which helped me a lot because I am not good at Math.
Hes a great teacher!!! I had him for trig and lectures were easy to follow!!! I did feel like the homework was pretty lengthy but overall he is very organized.
I would definitely recommend him. During quarantine he was VERY accessible and very dedicated to still giving us help. He held help sessions once a week and graded pretty efficiently during corona season. He even let me change my P to a B to help qualify for ETAM. Hes a true gem. Calc 2 is hard though, stay on top of work and study. Great teacher
Professor Parr was amazing. I took his class for a may minimester and it was a lot but worth it in the end. He was so organized and always replied quickly if I wasnt understanding how to do something. If you put in the work, you can get an A. I would definitely recommend taking him!!
In the beginning, I really struggled with this class but after going to his SI sessions and studying more at home, I was able to do really well in his class. A lot of online homework but it is a good study aid and he always has practice exams that look exactly like the test with different values. He also records every lecture so you can go back.
Professor Parr is passionate about math and his students! Everything about the course was organized and he replied quickly. I am not good at math and struggled in the beginning and then ended up with a B because he made it make sense and is easy to follow. Super clear in what he asks and there is room to bounce back from a bad grade.
Hes so cool. It's all MyMathLab but he post lecture videos. I got a B because I didnt really try but if you use the multiple attempts on your tests & quizzes youll do fantastic!
Professor Parr is phenomenal when it comes to lectures and explaining things, but he's an incredibly tough grader to the point where it almost seems unfair. On almost every exam, I had complete confidence in my work and answers then ended up with failing grades despite getting the correct answer. If you mess up one time you lose almost full credit
Worst class I have taken. The material is not hard, however he grades test ridiculously hard. Hardly any partial credit on tests.
Hard grader and relentless on hw and quizzes and tests. Big personality and believes he/s amazing. Says he cares for his students but blindsides them with lots of work, expect to study a lot if you want good grades and even then its not guaranteed he assigns way to much work to be grading as hard as he does. AVOID PARR IF POSSIBLE
The tests are graded super hard, but the final exam grade can replace your lowest exam which is a real lifesaver. He definitely makes you work hard but you will be rewarded if you do. Would love to take him again for Calc II if I got him. Definitely recommend!!
First time I ever failed a class, and some other classmates said the same thing. Felt as if I knew the content but would receive bad grades on the written assignments and exams due to tough grading. Was not very understanding when it came to technical issues and other problems. Had to put so much work into this class my average dropped in others.
I felt like he rushed through the teaching, he grades really hard, and he acts like he knows everything, which really rubbed me the wrong way. Very obnoxious. Honestly I get tired of ppl complaining about a college course load, but he really piles it on. When I dropped this class my grades in other classes shot up, way too much without much payoff.
The course felt very rushed, especially towards the end. The homework was unnecessarily long and not like the tests. One nice thing was that the first portion of the tests, the online portion, had 2 attempts, but it is hard to utilize that when you don't know how to do the problems. He needs to focus on how to teach more than being a buddy.
Awesome professor. I'm planning taking his Cal 2 class. More than willing to give extra instruction. He truly enjoys helping people understand.
Mr. Parr is a great professor. His teaching really helped me grasp everything. There is a lot of online homework. There are two portions of the exams, an online and written part. The online pulls problems straight from the homework problems, and you get two attempts so it is easy. The written is difficult, but I did well and pulled an A.
Buy a ream of copy paper to print out all the notes and quizzes, but the notes are well laid out and the quizzes, aren't impossible. You get two attempts on the multiple choice portion of the exams, questions are pulled directly from HW. He's willing to do everything he can to help, provided you're willing to put in the work to succeed in the class
This class is easy if you put in the time and effort. There is a lot of work and if you fall behind you will fail. If you are a procrastinator and don't want to put in a lot of effort I would not recommend this class. Besides the workload the professor is great, very clear grading criteria and deadlines, and is more then willing to answer questions
Wonderfull teaching methods and helps you understand what your'e learning. Couldn't have asked for a better teacher to teach calculus!
Parr is very passionate about teaching math, super cool prof. He explains the concept very well and makes sure that everyone understands the lecture before he moves on. He drops a few of your lowest hw and one quiz grade & final can replace your lowest exam grade. If you do all the work you'll be fine! I highly recommend taking Parr for math!
This class has been so hard. I was a 4.0 student throughout all of high school, took college classes, was in the GT program, and never made below a 94 in any of my math classes. This class though has been extremely hard. Parr has been rude and does not explain the material well. I have a 68 in this class. Would never take his class again.
One of the best teachers Ive had. Its a tough class its 2x harder than cal 1. You have to work hard to pass it and study!! He makes it bearable. He records lectures, gives practice test, take home quizzes, and is willing to help 24/7. I am not good at math but If I can pass Calc 2 then you can! Take Parr!!!!!!!!!!! INFINITY IS A CONCEPT-PARR :D
He is an awesome professor, His test can be difficult, but he prepares you for them. He gives out a lot of homework, can go from 4 txtbook hw and mylbabs per week. But he is a great professor, cares about his students a lot. This is a hard class, but with Parr you can pass it. 5 out of 5 would take again. "Infinity is a concept" - Parr 2021.
Super fun and entertaining professor. One of the easiest classes to pass if you do your work. For homework he gave online homework and sometimes textbook homework and you have basically the whole week to do it and it doesn't take long to complete. Quizzes were due very frequently but were fairly easy, super short and you take it at home.
You have to turn in homework in three different places, he does not accept late work at all even if it's 2 min late in person. If you are confused he tries to explain differently but fails to. It was very hard to schedule office hours with him, however, he responds at a good speed on remind 101. would not take him again.
Mr. Parr is one of the best math teachers I've had. The tests have the easiest of the material, like it should be. He is slightly annoying about grading and super specific but it had me dead. Besides the high volume of work, this class is kind of fun. Mr. Parr does a good job at engaging the students, knows how to explain things and low key funny.
Best prof I have ever had. Hes a great guy, super helpful, always available to talk, the list can go on and on. If you are confused on anything, ASK. He will always slow down and reexplain. 10/10 would recommend Mr. Parr.
Amazing teacher and a great lecture. Calc 2 is hard and work heavy, but Parr makes it super mangeable. His homeworks are easy 100s, even if you solve the problem completely wrong. He gives you previous test to study, and the question format and types of questions are almost the exact same on the test. Don't slack off and you will easily pass.
I hear he's great during the school year but whatever you do, DON'T take him for a summer class. unless you wanna do 8 hours of work for the class every day with 8 lecture vids, 40-80 hw problems, and quiz due every day. (even Saturday.) He was hard to reach, unwilling to accommodate working students, and didn't show up to his own office hours. L.
I took him for Calc 2 and stayed in Blinn TEAB just to take him for Calc 3, that's how much I liked him. He is a tough grader and assigns a lot of homework and quizzes, but it's all worth it. He is super engaging, and you can ask him a question about literally anything. Clearly goes through topics and makes very manageable tests. Plz take him
I loved professor parr. There was a lot of work but that was just because it was an 8-week course. Everything was super organized, I loved that he had a reminder set up with a timeline for the course so we knew where we should be at each week. He was really funny and made the lectures fun to watch. I definitely recommend taking him!!!!
If you haven't taken calc before please reconsider. This class is very accelerated, we were always a week or two ahead of A&M, and the averages for exams were mostly in the 60's. He teaches well but if you learn math at a slower pace do not take this course. I had to watch youtube videos to help me further understand many topics.
I took Mr. Parr's class as an 8-week and he teaches very well and makes it easy to understand, despite the short amount of time we have to learn things. I definitely would recommend having him as a professor
Great teaching style and lots of homework. There is online homework and textbook problems that need to be turned in every week. He is very funny and makes class enjoyable. Explains the processes behind the math so you can grasp it fully. You will fail if you don't show up to class. Has previous tests available to study. Absolutely love this class.
He makes Calculus II so much easier to learn and remember. I wouldn't have earned such a high grade without him. There is a lot of homework but it is all necessary to really understand the material. If you do take his class make sure to look at the previous tests he posts because they are nearly identical to the actual exams.
He is a great professor when it comes to teaching the subject and makes everything super clear. But when it comes to free time outside of this class it is nonexistent! For every unit, you have online homework, written homework, a quiz, and a daily quiz in class. If it wasn't for the loads of homework he would be the best math teacher at Blinn.
Good teacher didn't really learn from him thoug had to get a tutor as he went through the notes quick. He posts test reviews that look very similar to the test which is helpful but also study txtbook homework and quizzes to get more practice in before a test. Final was very easy as it was made by the department. Do not slack off and you will be ok
I honestly never struggled following Mr.Parr's lectures , i thought he was clear and awesome at explaining The 8week class is a lot of information to take in but i thought it was doable Anyways , loved Parr as a prof
Professor Parr is an amazing professor. Cal 2 is not an easy class, but the way he teaches lectures makes it easier to understand. 4 exams but the final replaces your lowest exam grade. REVIEW THE PRACTICE EXAMS. The actual exams are almost identical to the practice ones, so if you can do good on the practice exams, you'll do good on the actual one
Parr is a really cool person and I enjoyed his person but his work load is SO HEAVY. There are daily quizzes, outside quizzes, textbook hw, online hw due basically every class. To make A's on the exams study and learn every single lecture problem and every single past exams. He spares no points on tests so don't miss a dx or -. he's cool though.
TAKE PROF PARR! Yes, the material is challenging but if you come to class and do all of the homework, you will get it! HE teaches in a way that makes a complex course simple. I went to tutoring and actually did the HW instead of just copying the answers to the HW that he posted, which helped me improve my grades on the exam so much!
This is one of the best professors I have ever had! He explains the material well and has really great dad jokes. There is a lot of homework and not a lot of partial credit on the exams, but as long as you complete the review before its easy. Overal, would recomend!
Took his class in the fall with no prior calc knowledge (didn't take calc in hs), struggled a lot and wasn't able to actually study the material since there was so much homework that I had to get it done of time rather than understand the material. The exams+finals is worth 75% of your grade so if u are not a good test taker ur screwed.
Prof. Parr's MATH2414 is challenging but rewarding. The workload is heavy with frequent quizzes, homework, and exams, but his clear lectures and practice materials make it manageable. unstuck study was a lifesaver for efficient study prep.
If you are even somewhat good at math and are okay with a little bit of extra homework, Professor Parr is perfect! There is a decent amount of work, but the work outside of class really helped me prepare for the exams. His lectures are super helpful, and if there is anything you are stuck on he will gladly help you.
Mr. Parr is an amazing teacher that teaches very well and teaches different than the book but in ways that make all math way easier. He teaches his students how to perfectly use the calculator to do the math for you. All quizzes are done at home and not proctored, and the tests are exactly like the reviews just the numbers flipped.
I took Calculus 3 my fall semester of sophomore year. Expect this class as one of your main workhorses, as in, one of the things you will do the most homework in. I never studied for tests and I got a B in the class. I was able to understand almost everything fine through the in-class notes. I never learned from outside sources.
Professor Parr is amazing! He is very good at explaining topics in a straight forward way and is very helpful when asked questions. Lots of homework but it helps to prepare you well for the tests. Tests are multiple choice which is nice! As long as you do the work an A is easily attainable!
This class was very hard and its so much homework that I don't have time for my other courses. I took this class as an 8 week course and it's a lot. So if you take it, get ready to spend all your time for this course.
Professor Parr is very nice and understanding, the only reason why I wouldn't take him again is because of the amount of work he assigned. I found it hard to balance on top of my other classes, but I tried my best to get them in before the due dates. He also does speak a little fast during lectures, but besides that he's a good prof
If you learn math at a slower pace like me, or are taking pre-calculus for the first time, I would suggest another teacher. He's honestly one of the coolest teachers you can have, but: he teaches fast; assigns an ocean of hw problems; tough quiz grader; challenging exams. Not saying it isnt doable, but prepare to make this class a top priority.
If you want to learn calculus, theres no better class. he explained math in a way for you to answers conceptually by understanding rather than memorizing equations. the homework and quizzes take about 4~ hours/week. if you cant dedicate that much to one class in a week then you shouldnt be in school. no curves but there is extra credit and bumps
Amazing professor and a really good person. He loves to talk to students he knows during class, so get to know him and he will help you out. Highly reccomend.
Mr. Parr was easily my favorite professor I've had. I was worried about taking this math class because of the horror stories I've heard from students but Mr. Parr was great and genuinely cares about the students. He make the long lectures fun and enjoyable.I took an 8-week and it did have a lot of hw but that is normal with shorter math class 10/10
Took Calc 3, 4 week class, amazing professor, daily quizzes due, daily hw due (lots of questions), MyMathLab exam (75%) and written (25%), responds to messages quickly on remind but not his emails, he posts recorded lectures taught from the fall or spring, and theyre very coherent, learned a lot from him
I took Calc III online and it was miserable. The proctoring is extremely strict—any minor mishap whether it be intentional or not can wreck your grade. Lectures are excessively long, and due dates are tight. Don't take this class online unless you're ready to spend 8+ hours daily on heavy homework and long videos. Might be better to take in person.
Good & engaged professor for an online class, HIGHLY encourage keeping/saving your homework and watching the lectures.
Easy exams and very supportive
Falsely accuses students of cheating and pressures for false confessions. For ANY small mishaps takes of -20 points bare minimum on exams. Long lecture videos that are not very helpful. Spent bare minimum 9+ hours every day doing work. PICKY grader for quizzes and FRQ. Avoid at all costs his ratings are fake. Worse experience with a math class. NO!
Very unhelpful and dismissive when I asked for help. Accused me of cheating without reason, and even after I proved him wrong, there was no apology. Grading was overly picky and inconsistent. Maybe it was just me, but I really tried to reach out at every opportunity and still got lackluster responses with no effort to help.
Homework is easy, as long as you take the time to complete it. Will post exam study guides and previous exams to help prepare for tests. Grades tests rough and takes a while to put grades in. Occasionally, he missed classes without any warnings.
Mr. Parr was a good teacher but a bit unorganized. Would cancel classes without warning. Took a while to put in grades. Sometimes would diminish my confidence in the class.
Prof a little odd but hilarious. Every class is just following notes. Online homework due before next class. Occasionally textbook problems he posts the answers. Just do the exam from the previous year (same exam he just changes the numbers). He cancels class without warning either as the class is starting or won't text and the class just leaves.
He was a good professor, he got off topic a lot but the class moves pretty quickly. This class is pretty homework heavy with things due in person and online, but the work isn't hard compared to what's done in class. He records every class so you don't have to be at every class but he takes attendance randomly.
Took this class as a mini please listen to me DO NOT TAKE HIM his honor lock its insane
Very extensive work and the honor lock procedure was very over the top.
Good lectures, gives you past exams to study for that are very similar. Pearson homework is very heavy and he checks if you are using AI/Calculators on the Pearson homework based on how much time you take per question.
