Do not take statistics from anyone else. I hated math prior to taking this class, but he made it really enjoyable. Go to class and listen to his lectures, he always drops important tips. Do your assignments provided in his text and you will do awesome. He also is very helpful at answering questions outside and class and is extremely clear.

Such a good prof. The class was easy. He's very clear, always responds to emails. Plus he does plenty of examples in class. If you attend class and do your assignments, his quizzes will be easy and you can do very well. His midterm and final are based directly on the quizzes so keep them and use them to study.

He made it really easy to prepare for midterms and finals by holding weekly quizzes. I barely have to study for my finals now. It was definitely my easy-A class this semester! Good prof!

Very funny prof! Was a very good class, and quite interesting to learn. Final was a little tough, but decent. Assignments are pretty much nothing. The book is useful for more in depth analysis but you could possibly do decent in the class without it. Also a good read just by itself.

Robert is a great math prof! He explains everything step by step and very clearly. I found this class very easy. If you pay attention in class and do some examples on your own, you'll do fine! The weekly quizzes are exactly like the examples covered in class and the midterm and final were just like the quizzes.

Petry is the man. Clear, concise, thorough. Will take the time to answer anyone's question, at whatever length on the online forum. Does not speak in code like other math teachers tend to do. I took stat 100 during summer '13. It was soooo easy. All his quizes were really easy, midterm and the final. Just make aure you go through all the sample quizes, midterm and the finals. He helps his students online and in class. Overall, he's an amazing proff !

If you have a chance to learn from this guy, DO IT. His instructions were crystal clear, he knows his stuff, and he cares about each student. Quizzes were super easy and extremely similar to previous ones he posted on URCourses and he allows you to bring a formula sheet in to every quiz or exam. Stats is easy and Petry made it even easier.

An AMAZING prof. Always had a smile on his face with a great sense of humor. Sent out a mass email if you weren't in class stating what page we read up to in the textbook. He made the textbook, which his lectures follow to the absolute last page (also much cheaper than other textbooks). Would take again! Weekly double-sided quiz, which was simple.

Definitely will take him again, he provides helpful quiz example, and his textbook is easy to understand. I skip a few class, but it didn't change a thing. You will like him if you study by yourself very well, although his lecture is funny and easy too. I know nothing about statistic before the class, and now i love it. Pick him without a doubt.

I have never been good with math, and got an extremely high mark. If you attempt ALL the assignments he has in his textbook, and attend all the classes... YOU WILL GET A GOOD MARK. Do not underestimate the final though... its a tough one! Show up to class, and do the assignments AND the practice quizzes he posts!

I have never had a math professor better than this guy. His quizzes and midterms are exactly like the practice one's he posts. His lectures can be sometimes boring as he rambles on about his life, but all in all it's a hilarious time listening to all his jokes. Final, quizzes, and midterms were easy. The best prof to take Statistics 100 with! Wrote his own textbook for the class, and allows you to write cheat notes on the formula sheet for the quizzes and major tests. If you don't understand how to do a question he posts detailed answers on his forum on UR courses. Class can be dry at times, but that is to be expected for any math class.

Dr. Petry is an amazing math prof. and all around great educator. If you have the chance to take his class do it, his classes fill up quite quickly though as people know this. The finals are written by all the math profs teaching the class so you can't say he writes them generally, but he will definitely prepare you for them better than the rest!

Great math prof! Examples are gone through in class and posted after on URCourses. Has his own textbook available in bookstore, but don't even have to buy as he posts PDF version on URCourses. Kind of awkward to approach and goes on tangents in class, but also very funny in class. Quiz every 2 weeks in lab period, 2 midterms and a final exam.

He is an absolute bro. Crystal clear lectures and approachable if you have any questions. He makes his own version of the textbook, and also posts practice problems and answers from the textbook so that you don't have to buy it if you don't want to. He also has a discussion forum where he answers any questions in great detail. Highly recommend.

Petry is a great Professor. He is easy to learn from especially when he does examples from the text. Petry made taking a class during the spring fun. Expectations are clear, and if you do your share of assignments and understand the material, tests are easy. Attendance is mandatory, and honestly worth it in the end. I hate math but would take a class from him again in a heartbeat!

Math 110 is a hard course but he is the absolute best prof to take it with, especially if math isn't your forte. He gives tons of practice quizzes, midterms and finals to help you study and they're extremely helpful. He's organized and has good lectures, and a really good textbook too. You'll have to do your hw to succeed but he's the best prof!

One of the best professors I've ever had in my first semester. The only problem I've encountered was basically falling asleep in class because of his voice. But other than, the way he utilizes URcourses was a big factor to why his math class was a good time and not much of a struggle.

Nice teacher but many people dont attend his class because of his voice that makes you fall asleep. Can still get easy high marks if you review the sample quizzes because your quizzes will be similar. He is strict in answers especially rounding so listen to his rounding rule. I enjoyed having Robert as a professor because he seems to care about his students and he tries to set things up as best as possible for you to succeed. He wrote his own textbook for the class which is mandatory but it saves you money compared to other stats textbooks. Lots of quizzes and difficult midterm and final but would take him again.

Petry's a solid choice if you want a good/easy mark- not if you want to be challenged. Quiz/Midterm content is quite predictable (he posts old ones for practice, they're basically the same). Good teacher, super kind, easy marker, but it's hard to stay awake during his lectures as he just reads off slides. This class is heavy on theory so beware.

He is great proffesor. If you just want to pass its no big deal as his quiz and mid term are almost predictable. But lecture wise he explains every topic in a good way. He puts every thing in ur course which makes us easy to cover any topic as ur comfort time. There's absolute no problen even you miss the class.

His quizzes and midterms were fair and I found no issues with the final. He gives lots of examples and is willing to give additional explanations and help. He is a very kind marker and if you go to him after a mark is returned, he will try to find more ways to give you marks. Would recomend for all levels of math students.

Petry was an amazing Math professor. His slides were a little too technical, but his explanations were clear. Some assignments were really easy, some were really challenging. He provided many useful examples on most topics. There were a couple topics where his examples were very simple which didn't help with doing the homework questions at all.

Petry was awesome! I am not a math person but I was totally able to understand what was happening and was able to school pretty great on all my stuff. He wrote our textbook as well so he was very good at going through it with us! If you take stats and are able to take it with him, do it!

I liked the course I took with Robert Petry because he had a great understanding of what he was teaching and he will gladly answer any questions you have. It was nice that he dropped 2 out 7 quizzes and 1 out of 4 exams. I did not even end up writing the final. He also responds to emails very quickly.

I swear to god Petry is carrying the entire department. The U of R doesn't deserve someone this good. I took Math 111 and 122 and his structure was the same in both - videos posted on regular schedules, weekly homework that has multiple attempts. He does everything he can to see you succeed. His course book is what he bases each lecture off of so you don't really need to go to lectures. Weekly quizzes that are fairly easy. Gives sample quizzes that help a lot.

If you need to take Stats100 you need to take it with this prof. He is beyond helpful! He posts detailed solutions to most homework questions that help EMMENSLY when you're struggling to figure out what you did wrong. His lectures are fun with his quick wit jokes. 10/10 might be uofrs best prof. Seriously take his class you will succeed!

Prof Petry is definitely one of the best Math Profs at UofR; he knows the material he is teaching inside out, and his quizzes and exams are fair if you study properly; the final was very similar to the midterms. If you utilize the materials he gives you, this class is a breeze! If you have the chance to take a math class with him, do it!

I took Petry in stats 100 last year (2022) and meant to do this then, but must have slipped my mind. He is one of the best profs I have ever had. He is very helpful and really cares about his students. He is always available for extra help through email and honestly if you need this class, take it with him. Seriously.

I would recommend taking his class for Math 110, especially if you struggle with calculus in general. He explains concepts very well, with detailed examples. His course book is a very useful tool, as it has many problems to practice for each concept. One of the few profs at the UofR who seems to focus on you succeeding in his course.

Overall great prof. He clearly is an expert in what he teaches and understands how to make something like calculus digestible. He was very accessible outside of class and provided students with tons of resources. Only issue is that he moves very fast during lectures so make sure you're paying attention. Also, exam difficulty was all over the place.

He knows what he is talking about but does go very fast. You just have to make sure you don't fall behind an do good on 2 out of 3 quizzes because he drops the lowest one.
