Prof. Pierce is a wonderful and passionate person and he knows his stuff. In fact, his test is fair enough. I like the lectures he delivered in the class though I am an ESL student whose English is not very good! ESL students can even get better grades in the class as long as they study hard and be well prepared before every tests!

Online class: very easy, and clear. There are only 3 tests. You just have to remember a lot, or know how to look up things (index is very helpful). Teacher is helpful and very clear on expectations. Overall very easy, but I hate history.

Online course: No HW, but online msg board discussions are worth 10% of your grade (class driven; he does not post anything). 90% of your grade is based on your avg grade for the 3 exams (difficult multiple choice & easy essays). Lectures once a week in essay form, though his writing skills are spotty, so his essays can be annoying to plow through.

Most difficult online class I have ever taken in my life. Took him in person last quarter in person and wanted to scream. He knows his stuff, I will not deny that, but he wilol penalize you for not including information that he didn't ask you to read, and didn't teach. Online class requires so much reading its ridiculous

he is so far behind in our lectures, but keeps the tests on schedule. there is a TON of info on the study guides that he doesnt go over in class. interesting lectures but then you have to spend 5 hours looking up the questions for the tests online/in book.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Discussions are run by the students and your grade is based on the average of 3 tests which are multiple choice and 2 essays. He gives out the possible exam essays ahead of time but than adds 5+ essays to the list a week before exam so u have to outline 12 or so essay questions and then he only picks 2.

VERY HARD grader, i've never done this bad in my life!! haven't learned a thing and im surprized he hasn't been fired yet

Basically you will sit in class and listen to his liberal marxist revisionist historical diatribes. You will not be allowed a dissenting opinion. Notes are somewhat important but so is reading the book. Take his study guide and find all the important points of each thing on it and you can pass. he is a good story teller, but its just that a story.

Took an online class w/him & it was definitely not the way I prefer a class to be structured. Gave out 3 tests, & that was our grade. TOUGH GRADER! Had to pull his arm & leg for him to tell me how I could improve to get a better grade. He gave me INSANELY rude responses to every ? I asked. A miserable person, happy I never had to actually see him.

Don't take his online class unless you are good at taking tests, since your entire grade is based on three multiple choice/written examinations.

Dr. Pierce will tell you about the sex scandals, controversies, dirty politics and make history come alive. Not a class for someone looking for an easy A. The online class can not compare, you'd miss out on his passionate story telling, impersonations of famous people, etc. Sad to say, he is retiring next year. Truly a great teacher!

I have a 3.8 and I got a C in his online class!! He grades on a curve for each of the three multiple choice examinations. If you're looking for an easy A or B, this is NOT the class. Very Hard even for a smart student as myself.

He's pretty entertaining but rambles like crazy. You pretty much have to listen to everything he says or you'll fail the class. Probably the hardest class I've been in. I don't know how people actually pass this class.

I took this class for requirements and he was a cool teacher he knows a lot of events that happen in the past and will tell you everything on how it use to be. He also talks the entire class and no homework just 2-3 big exams and a final but the only reason y its hard is because everything he talk about is not on the test it's more based on the boo

robert is a wise old man but but a hard class, he lectures on what he knows of history and grades off the book and some knowledge. 3 major exams only no homework but his exams are 150 questions 1 final or essay and they are hard confusing questions so unless your a real genius at history go for it and good look i wont take it again at least w him

I took the online class, tests are difficult, but the information received is valuable to your education. It is around 3 chapters of studying per test, so it really isn't so bad. Overall, fun class.

Good professor! Dumb students! Read comment below this one. "You must read the book and have a good understanding of the details to do well on the exams." DUH!! Really? What did you think you had to do to do well on the exams?!? What an idiot student! Work IS required. Pierce knows his stuff.

Not a good class. The professor was barely involved and pretty much just gave us a lot of material to read (with a very liberal slant) and then gave three long tests that were confusing and horribly formatted. No extra credit, very vague guidelines and very little support. He is responsive to questions if you private message him (this was online.)

The class and the tests itself are not tough. The tough part was the lack of opportunities to raise your grade. The 3 exams and 1 final paper are the only big grading opportunities, no other assignments. Tests do not correlate to practice exams, but nice guy!
