Prof Piluso is super passionate about teaching composition, he won't refer to it as the standard essay, but he likes to call them "A Papers" He spends a lot of time clarifying composition and just like he gives his 100% he expects students to give no less. His reading assignments are pieces that he likes & he expects the students to like them too.

Piluso does require a lot of reading and writing but it is extremely simple (to BS) and helpful for the papers. His papers are unique but they're simple and following his directions will result in an 85 or higher with little effort.

Professor Piluso is a one of a kind professor that is willing to go beyond his hours to help out his students. He has a different style of teaching that gets all the students involved, which makes the class go by faster and a little more enjoyable. I would recommend this English class if you are having a tough with English. Loved this class!!

To be in the morning class, surely it will make you sleepy, right? WRONG! You will see how hilarious and amazing Mr. P is, even his energetic will come to you! Piluso is the best English professor at Mt SAC. Take the 8wk courses if possible. The readings and discussions are one of a kind which makes the papers a breeze. I've had Professor Piluso for English 68 since the summer and then for English 1A and 1C for fall semester. I can truly say that he's an amazing professor and I recommend him to everybody who needs to finish their English classes. He's funny and makes himself clear in what he expects. So what are you waiting for?! Take him!

While he does give a fair amount of homework, and writing assignments, they are all great reads and beneficial to the students for life. I took the pathways program with Professor Piluso and thank goodness I did !! I was not looking forward to taking English but I LOVED IT! All three semesters were awesome and I kinda miss it. Essays are not difficult and will walk you through every step. Very clear and easy going. This is a man who enjoys his job and cares for his students. 1 student failed for plagiarism, 25 passed.

professor is amazing and easy to pass. Put work into the class and opinion on ideas then you will pass. He provides feedback on rough drafts to help you succeed on the final draft and gives the tools for an A in the beginning of Eng 68. If joining later ask questions to him or classmates and you will pass also. He is overall amazing and inspiring.

This professor provides the foundation of success. He gives good advice and the format of a good essay to follow. Everyone that has not passed and posted bad comments either violated his rules for plagiarism or did not put effort to succeed and only skipped class consistently without any participation and did not bother to ask for advice or help.

Had this professor for the cohort English1A and 1C and let me tell you, it was amazing .the one thing that i love about this class is that everyone get to voice their opinion and that everyone is given a chance to shine. I was hesitant to take this pathway class because I was never confident in my writing and after this class I feel more confident

I am taking him SPRING 2018 FOR Intro To Cinema, he is a very passionate man. It's a 3 hour class, sometimes he talks for 1.5 hours, he will go on and on, but that's only because he loves the films. I respect him for showing us movies he really believes is inspirational. I've noticed that he gets a bit defensive if you don't have the same opinion.

Professor Piluso cares a lot about ALL his students, and will go the extra mile to help you with whatever questions you have. He is one of the best professors ive had. I like that he involves all his students to participate and makes sure everyones voices are heard. He is a very passionate man about being an educator, and hes also hilarious! :)

Great prof show up every week, watch amazing films, 1 page reflection due every week, two essays, one midterm and one final. Fun and simple class, passionate prof, great discussions. The only film I hated was Maya Deren.... but everything else was great! I took this class Fri 9:00am-12:10, tiring and long but I'm glad I took this class!

I took Professor Piluso for the Pathways program. I was with him from Eng 68, 1A, and 1c. He is a great professor. Helped me greatly improve my essay writing and encourages his students to critically think and makes an environment where everyone's thoughts are heard and will be discussed. Professor Piluso is one of the many teachers that you would want to have taught you English. He takes real life situations and turns them into examples that you can relate to as well as expand on. I went into the class scared of the number of essays and reading he suggested on the syllabus and came out of the course so much more confident.

Show up to class and do all the work and most importantly pay attention. If you slack off, chances are it will show in your work or miss key information. I took ENG1A/1C cohort with Professor Piluso. I hated English before this class. After taking this class with Piluso I learned how to really write an essay and I actually enjoyed it. To top it off he's funny and kind. Yes, you write 7 essays in the semester but trust me you're going to end up loving English. Don't believe me? Take the class. :)

AMAZING professor! If you aren't actually willing to put yourself to it then dont bother. But he is very caring and is there to answer any of your questions and try to corporate as much as he can with you. He handled switching online very well and wasnt hard on us at all. No exams. Just links to readings for discussion boards and essays.

I'm about 4 weeks into the Fall 2020 semester, and after 7 months of online schooling due to the pandemic, I have to say Piluso is THE BEST. PROF. PERIOD. Rather than try to force a class on Zoom, he carries out the class in a different format: Canvas Chat. Everyone gets to speak w/o interruption, he gives immediate feedback.. overall, he's goated.

You're in good hands with Piluso. As long as you try, are respectful to your classmates, and participate, you'll pass his class. Get ready bc he can be a cornball but in the best way possible. He really cares about his students and creating a platform for all of our voices. Honestly, as long as you're not a jerk, you'll be just fine.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS! The transition to online was hard but Professor Piluso made it enjoyable. He really cares for his students and wants them to succeed. Instead of zoom meetings, he does chat rooms which makes the class much more relaxed. He only assigns 3 essays. As long as you attend the chat and do the discussions, you will get an A.

Took English 1C during winter, but I was able to pass the class with solid A, and knowledge on how to write a proper essay. There are many discussion boards, and three total essay. Professor Piluso helped his students on how to write an intro and body paragraph. In fact, he also went over the rough draft we did and give feedback to every students.

Just do all work assigned and attend class when your physically able to. If you earn a C on every final draft of an essay, you still earn an A by the end of the semester. But that doesn't mean you should shoot for a C. Shoot for an A. If I could take this class again, I would do it because this is the best professor I had so far.

This class was amazing, took it winter and it was easy! He makes everything clear and no zoom! Which I thought at first would be hard but it was overall really smooth. I took English 1c during winter semester. Piluso is an extremely kind professor and he's also very upbeat. Class was easy but extremely rushed. That was mainly since people didn't understand things at first. His papers were extremely easy to write though despite not having as much time to complete assignments.

If you want an A in English 1C take him. Piluso is a very caring teacher, he will assign 3 essays and will go over rough drafts as he gives you critical feedback to get an A. He does not assign another quizzes or exams. Just do the essays and get them proofread and you'll get the A it's not hard at all trust me you'll enjoy it!

He has a funny personality and gets really excited talking about this stuff, but he's a slow grader. Overall if you're patient it shouldn't be much of a problem but it all depends on the person you are. He doesn't do tests and he isn't hard to pass honestly.

I took his English 1A online class and he is the best professor Ive ever had. He was caring and made sure we all understood the assignments given. Piluso is a super cool teacher, If you follow instructions and make the corrections you will get an A. I wish more professors cared as much as he does for student success. Very easy class, he gives a lot of cool insight on films and the industry. Not a lot of homework. All the writing assignments are pretty easy and the final was a breeze. He showed parasite at the end of class which was amazing. Def recommend. Easy A. Shows a lot of classic films as well. He is nice to everyone and kinda nerdy.

He had to drop out 3 weeks into class but with the little experience I had with him, he was awesome. Had a lot of insight in the movie industry and you can tell he's very passionate about what he teaches. I wish I could have finished off the semester with him. He's a solid guy!

Only three essay papers throughout the semesters and not give quizzes, tests, or midterms. He gives clear instructions on what he looks for in his essays, so MAKE SURE TO TAKE NOTES! I've definitely see improvement in my writing after my eight weeks with him. I will not recommend this class to people who do not like participating though.

Professor Piluso is the absolute best! He's very understanding and works with his students.There's not a heavy load of homework and the only homework we get has to do with preparing for the essays. He's not super strict with deadlines and is not a tough grader. He gives amazing feedback and is very helpful. I 100% recommend taking his class!

I took him for Winter 23' as honors and I can 100% say that I truly learned so much about writing a well structured essay unlike other professors. He was patient with everyone, realistic with expectations, and you can absolutely tell that he was passionate with every lecture he taught. I highly recommend!

i took mythology with professor piluso and found his lectures to be very entertaining and informative and found interest in all the subjects that he tought. the midterm and final are essay-style questions but they are open note and open textbook, which made them very manageable.

One of my favorite professors by far. His class was easy for an English class, and I learned stuff I could see myself using in the future. He does require everyone to come to class every day but he's also a really understanding teacher. His homework and essays are pretty straight forward and I would say he's a really easy grader.

I struggle with English, especially essays, but Piluso is an amazing professor who gives good feedback (if you ask for it). Don't fall behind with assignments, bc it can feel overwhelming to play "catch up." Do not use AI, he will catch it right away and will give a zero for the entire assignment/section. This was my 2nd time taking him after 1A previously and would say he is still an amazing prof. You learn so much in this class from analyzing ideas, movies, and art. He makes class so enjoyable and his lectures make you think a lot about life. If you ever need to know your grade or feedback on an assignment, he will be so down to share and help.

I kept having to postpone taking Piluso's class but he really is all of the great things everyone says. Creative writing can seem intimidating and he takes all of that out by explaining the concepts and material well in a relatable and professional manner. All assignments are explained at the beginning and its just better from there.

Easy class and the professor is amazing. Don't use AI tho, he is really against it. He like caught three people, however, didn't report them. If you use AI for the class, smth is prob wrong with you because the class aint that hard! Also everything is on paper.

Professor Piluso is no doubt the best English teacher I've had. The assignments and rubric are explained clearly and in detail, most of the work is completed during class hours not much homework. His teaching style is very old fashioned pen and paper style but he makes it very enjoyable. His lectures are very entertaining. 0 AI allowed he'll know.

If you show up and do the work, you will get an A. It's beyond self explanatory. From Day 1, he is extremely clear and what you need to do for a good grade. Very minimal work throughout the semester (3-4 essays and journal entries). I don't think you can choose a better professor. If work smart not harder is ur vibe, he's ur guy!!

Took his C1000 8 week course, and his C1001 isn't really too different from it. 3 essays, journals, and discussions. If you took him for C1000, definitely take his C1001 to finish your GEs
