Awsome techer, you sit in class and have open discussions and talk about anything. Papers are easy, isnt a hard grader, tells you what he thinks and is very helpful, very nice man.

Definetly not the typical english teacher. Always wears black shirt and blue jeans. VERY open minded. Lots of profanity in class. Makes you think A LOT. An Easy A. He talks about meaning of life, death, and stuff like that. Very Interesting class.

surely the most unusual method of teaching, Yet quite possibly the best. when it comes to writing, he makes you think in ways you wouldn't normally think, which -to me- increased my writting skills tremendously. he is essentially pretty easy, and really seems to care about his students. take him!!

THE BEST professor I have EVER had. All you noobs who don't like his pessimistic view on life need to get a reality check and watch the news. Plath makes you think in ways you have NEVER imagined possible. Every book he recomends is godly. I cant say enough good things about him. I had him 3 times during my stay at Hofstra. Very freaky guy! He makes you write about such different things but it makes the class interesting. He's very big on reading your stuff outloud.. so be prepared. He thinks outside of the box, great sense of humor and you get to read authors other than the "classics" that are so overrated anyway. People only dislike this professor if they are used to reading Shakespeare and writing chapter summaries all the time. Great class.

Professor Plath is an AMAZING professor. Take him for creative writing 133...you WILL NOT regret it. If you do the journals which are really fun and participate in class a little you'll get an A. He is a very outside the box thinker and writer. He seemed a bit crazy at first but is really an amazing teacher. His writing styles are a bit strange too. If you don't write an essay correctly he let's you re-do it for a higher grade.

The only class that I looked forward to going to for my Fall semester. A very deep yet dark professor who makes the environment of the class very interesting. Do what he asks in terms of journals and you will be good. I recommend EVERYONE take a course with professor Plath.

My favorite professor. A little dark but the chillest, smartest guy ever. All you write is short open-ended journals from prompts and turn in a few. Anything goes in class, and he gets everyone involved. If you actually want to learn about writing, take McGee or Zimmerman, but if you just want a fun, easy, super interesting class, take Plath.

I never go here to rate any professor I have taken at Hofstra, but this professor is amazing. He really opened my eyes to a generation I never heard of the Beat Generation. He really changed my perspective in life and I can't thank him enough for that!

Professor Plath is one of my favorite professors at Hofstra. I took him for general creative writing and again for his Beat Poets class. He's incredibly easy to talk to and offers honest opinions on creative work both inside and outside of class. Wish I had more time to take another class with him!

I am a student that skips classes more than attends classes. I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed taking his class. I'm at a different school now and my greatest regret is that means I cannot take another one of his classes. I drove in a blizzard to be able to attend class one day, when I don't go to other classes in good weather. Take him.

I'm a science major but I love writing and this was by far my favorite class. Not only was it an easy A, but it made you get out of your comfort zone by sharing your work and was so inspirational to work with. His class discussed personal topics and my classmates became some of my best friends from this class who I still talk to this very day.

Plath's class is very easy, has little work, and is really enjoyable because he's so funny (kinda strange, but very nice and funny) . He requires you write in a journal, but everything is opinion based and the topics you write about are normally very interesting. All he asks of you is that you show up, write a little bit, and boom, its an easy A

Such a quirky person. Took the class as a distribution and was pleased by how easy it was. You get to be as creative and out there as you want. If you're looking for a reason to make yourself sit down and write, but not get penalized for how it comes out--this class is perfect. Could be more structured or give more constructive criticism.

Plath is a really caring and laid back professor. He focuses on allowing us to creatively express ourselves through the journals and essays we have to write. He truly listens to the students & cares about what we say. A lot of class is just discussion, which can be anxiety-inducing but he seems to be understanding if you really don't want to share.

Plath is one of the best English teachers I've ever had. The class is really easy as you just have to do the writing assignments and share them with the class. Sometimes they are a bit personal but he doesn't force to share. He definitely cares about what he does and always has us write about interesting topics. It's not your average English class.

One word: Amazing. He is a real gem. For this class, NO HW; NO TESTS. Just: 2 paper assignments. Hand them in and he goes over in class. If you write well, he'll use your paper as a model paper. Excellent writing professor! Very relax, chill, hilarious! Definitely take him!!

Prof. Plath is one of the most interesting professors/men I've ever met. His class challenges you to really write about your feelings. He also gives very in depth feedback and wants to see the best writing out of you!

Imma be honest, I had no idea what I was doing at the beginning of the class but I eventually caught on by the 3rd essay. It's a lot like a creative writing class where you can write about anything you want, but you still have to connect the essay to the reading(s). So be prepared to swing Kafka's ax and break the frozen sea of ice inside of you!

TAKE THIS CLASS. This is the best professor to exist, his material is so interesting and different from any class ever. He is so lowkey and chill and will let you talk about anything. His essays are easy and all about creative writing. I genuinely look forward to going to this class. Be prepared to basically have free therapy. The best.

I had him for WSC001 and WSC002. He loves a good trauma dump and almost illegal stories for his essays. Doing the work when it's assigned will make it easier to write the papers later. Plath is the calmest person I've ever met. He is the best writing professor I have ever had, and I never liked writing before taking his classes.

Plath is a literal god, especially considering all of the BS (Late assignments/little naps) I put him through during WSC 1 and 2 but he's always understanding. I'd recommend taking him if you wanna write about either personal trauma or injustice in the world, all you gotta do is relate it to whatever reading(s). Also, don't do my BS; it ain't cool.

His teaching method is so methodical and specific and the way he connects with his students and listens when they speak is something straight from a movie. Incredible profesor, cares for his students, and keeps the work manageable while still offering plenty pf grades and assignments to improve your grade. Encourages a lot of self-reflection and expression. The only bad thing is students who might be quiet, or guarded, or don't like to talk about feelings might want to avoid this class.

Plath's class is an extraordinary thing to be a part of. He's not going to teach you grammar or anything that most other proffesors would love out of an essay. He will teach you how to write your own truth. He will teach you how to be raw and emotional. I only rated him difficult because you will have to learn to tell the truth about dark things.

For the love of god, if you can, take a class with Prof. Plath. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say this class changed me. It might mess you up a little but you won't regret it for a second.

Professor Plath, by far, is the best professor I have had thus far at Hofstra. One of his main goals is to get his students to be able to express their opinions clearly and be able to expand past their boundaries. Be honest and open-minded in your writing and you should be good. I would recommend him to anyone. Very easy grader too.

Prof. Plath's class is a unique experience - he encourages raw, emotional writing and self-discovery. While the work can be challenging, he's understanding and the lectures are worth attending. For study prep, ChatGPT and Unstuck study were super helpful.

i absolutely loved prof plath's class. every class was like a therapy session. he always wants to hear your perspective and genuinely get to know you as a person. his big thing is no censorship which i really appreciated. he loves a trauma dump, even in your essays. his humor is deadpan, but so funny. take for an easy grade and inner child healing

Truly a diamond in the rough. As an engineering major, Plath is the only prof I've had that is actually a person, not a robot programmed by the evils of this worlds system. He is real. His class revealed and healed things within myself that I was too scared to face alone. Best prof. 100% will be taking another one of his classes.

Took him for WSC 130; he was a very chill and laid-back professor who engaged the class with creative assignments, overall an easy A. It was just attendance, writing assignments, and journals that were very reasonable.

Prof. Plath has a dry humor that takes getting used to. Very generous grader & really encourages students to share their own wisdom. Not many lessons on skills of writing, more just an outlet to write in your own style. Very easy A and made some good friends in the class along the way.
