Prof. Rabil is excellent. He is very thorough.
Not clear, bad handwriting and bad grading
He has an incredible amount of knowledge. However, the class is marred by the difficulty in reading his notes on the board.
Good professor, only problem is that he repeats all the information for that day three times over. Take if you need poli sci credit and an easy A.
Very difficult and has a one way conversation with self for three hour class, only he makes it four. Has one opionion-his own.
great teacher.he asks that you focus more on what he is saying then what he is writing, but come test time he says the questions are right off the notes on the board.wtf?good sense of humor, but a bit harder than some of my other politics classes.
Hard to read notes. He was shot in Lebanon when he was there as a young boy. He is very knowledgeble about the Middle East
Take notes and attend class and you'll pass

This guy is all over the place like a bouncy ball in a racquetball court. I had the most difficult time following his lectures
I loved this class, he has great energy and really cares about his students. Just go to class it follows the book perfectly and you will do fine. Exams are essay and he is very flexible at gradding them.
He is straightfoward, has a good sense of humor, and he's a nice guy. He obviously has a vast amount of knowledge, and he sincerely cares about his students. The tests and essays are very fair.
I loved this class, he is hilareous, and its easy to feed off his energy and get excited in the class. Tests are very easy, and the two papers due are very easy and fairly gradded. I would take him again for other classes.
He is an awesome professor! His classes are tough, but he will explain information over and over again until you understand. Come to class, take notes, study, and you will definitely get and "A"
great professor, but very bias and stuck with his own opinion. Gets angry when you challenge his conservative republican opinion. Overall good teacher, but can be a little offensive
Great professor, I love the way he is sooo interested and knowledgeable in his topics. However, you must make a real effort in his class, you will not get by by just showing up and somewhat reading the notes. His class is worth taking and I've taken them 3 times, take him if you're honestly interested in learning!!!
He goes too fast with material and thinks people know what he is talking about. He is very hansem though.
Extremely passionate about teaching. Lots of notes, bring a laptop if you can. Well worth taking his class, if you do the work you'll get an "A" and learn a lot too!
i had an undergraduate class with him on iraq once and he was was very interesting. but i had him for a comparitive survey and for a women in islam graduate seminar and he was much less excited to be teaching and was much less interesting. i simply did not enjoy the graduate seminar at all. he was very discouraging and unhelpful.
LOVED HIM, LOVED HIM, LOVED HIM! Amazing professor! Very smart and energetic, makes the information interesting. He knows his stuff and by the end of the course you will be able to hold your ground in debating world politics. Make sure you read the book and take notes! DO NOT PASS TAKING A COURSE WITH RABIL IF YOU LIKE TO LEARN!
great teacher
Great Professor! Take his class! He is very energetic and it keeps you awake and engaged. No need to read the book, just take all the notes and you'll be fine. His tests are all free response and he asks very striaght forward questions
He will definitely keep you awake. However, he is very arrogant. He opens up the class to questions, but when questions were asked he seemed annoyed. He would say things like "we went over this 16,000 times". Also, he plays favorites to certain students.
Great professor. Energetic and does not rely on notes. Knows his subject very well. Don't miss out on him. Best at FAU.
Great and wonderful professor. The best at FAU.
Robert Rabil for presedent. his scholarly skills, his unique style, his academic expertise, his political genius and leadership qaulities not only make him the BEST professor ever, but also the best candidate for THE PRESEDENT OF THE UNITED STATE OF AMERICA.
Professor Rabil is a genuine teacher, who cares about his students. His knowledge is very broad and has a contagious passion. His exams are fair. Attend his classes, go over teh lectures and you will have an A. His humor and instruction style are very appealing and keeps you awake. His recommendation letters are extremely helpful. Best at FAU.
Very professional and organized Professor.
Excellent professor & academic advisor. Has a real passion for teaching & knows his subject. Writes excellent letters of rec. Be sure to attend all classes & do all the readings. Challenging but very fair. Concerned about his students & accessible. Never a dull moment in his classes. Terrific guidance as a graduate director. Best at FAU!
He's very smart, no doubt, but very disorganized. If you miss a class you miss a LOT, only buy main book, won't use til end. Biggest prob is the suck-ups. They ask so many irrelevant questions that you never get out early--and he starts class usually saying it's an early night. Extremely frustrating overall, 2nd time I tried his classes.
He is a great teacher. Very enthusiastic, and knowledgable. He cares about the student, and treat them very personally. He loves to teach and loves the topic that is why it is much fun being in his class. He gives one major paper, and one test, which he prepares you to the detail. If you like POS and interested in the subject, take him and you wil
He is definitely not organized, but as long as you write EVERYTHING he says, and study EVERYTHING that's on the "review," which is given the day before the exam, you should do fine. Also, studying for his exams should be around 10 hours. But that's because I never opened the books (and got an A).
I have taken many courses with Dr. Rabil and each one has been very enjoyable. He has a wealth of knowledge and stays true to his words that by the end of the semester he will make "an expert" out of the class. Definitely worth taking for class as he is always available to talk any problems out with you that you may not understand - awesome prof!
He is an energetic professor and really cares about his students. He will keep you awake and motivated during the whole class (approx. 2 hrs). He emphasizes the value of regular attendance. Therefore, come to class, take good notes, and study for the exams (midterm and final). The class prior to the exam, he gives a review, which is very useful. He is an expert on Middle East affairs and has several publications, so all of his classes are worth taking. I really enjoyed the classes and got a lot out of them. Without a doubt, he is one of the best professors at FAU. In addition, he is a great academic advisor. If you really want to learn, take him!
Good teacher who is pretty enthusiastic, but the class can still be somewhat boring. Crystal clear on what he wants for the test. Overall an interesting person - I would recommend him.
He is a high-energy, knowledgeable professor. His lectures are all over the class, but they are very interesting. I have had him for several classes and enjoyed them call. His tests are essays and short answer questions. If you come to class, take good notes, and then study them before the tests you will be just fine.
Dr. Rabil is an excellent professor in all ways. His lectures are fascinating. I have learned a great deal in my program. FAU is lucky to have someone of his caliber here. He is a very charismatic and kind teacher. I would highly recommend him. He is the best professor at FAU.
Professor Rabil is the most remarkable teacher! His courses are always interesting, and he is a real teacher, caring whether or not students understand the material. I wish more professors taught like him.
learned a lot. a lot of information. be ready to memorize!
Very good teacher but not easy at all. You will learn a lot and will have to memorize so much information. History, Religion, and Geography are critical in this class, so if you don't know much about it, it's even harder! But I learned SO MUCH. But this class fried my brain. Had absolutely no life while taking it....
Dr. Rabil is a wonderful professor. He is enthusiastic and helful. He clearly enjoys teaching and wants to be in class. Attendance is mandatory because he gives you all of the information you need for exams in his class. He is ready, willing and able to address any questions or concerns. Dr. Rabil cares about students doing well in his classes
Brilliant professor! His class is very vigorous but you come out learning so much. Make sure to do all the readings and be able to discuss them. That is the most important thing. Only 1 paper at the end and small writing assignments to make sure you are reading. He is a kind grader if you show that you did the work. Lots of books to buy for class.
HE IS BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!
had him for two classes. He is awesome. Very interesting man & subjects. High energy, funny as hell. Enjoys discussion and questions. Lectures fly by...take notes. Exams are easy essay questions, no curveballs. He's got an outsized ego but really is a charming guy. Would make a great dinner party guest. Smart good man. Highly recommended.
Lets be clear, if you are not interested in truly learning, especially about the ME, don't waste his time or yours. You couldn't be in a more interesting, enlightening, energetic class. Dr. Rabil is exceptionally knowledgeable, all you need to do is read and listen. The rest is nirvana. I took all his classes, NO REGRETS! Thank you Dr. Rabil!!!
Dr. Rabil is one of the best instructors that I have ever had. I take evening classes and he makes certain to keep you interested and alert. He takes his teaching very serious but he is funny at the same time. I recommend that you take his two Comparative Politic classes (Middle East and Religion and World Politics). Take them together.
Excellent professor! Have now taken him three times. A lot of information, but he makes class interesting. If you attend class, he literally spoon feeds you the information that you need to know in order to ace his tests. Not enough nice words about him!
If you walk out of Dr. Rabil's class having learned nothing, then you either never showed up or need a brain transplant. He's incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about what he teaches, and does it in a very fun way that will genuinely keep you interested in the material. You'll end the semester having learned more than most other classes.
He opens up your mInd to see the Middle East with greater clarity
Super easy A. Easy grader on papers and does a lot of group projects which are also easily graded. One final exam which is an essay (tells you topics in advance). You learn SOOOO much in his class and he makes it fun and interesting.
If you want to learn, this is your guy. Personable, knowledgeable and a great communicator. If you have issues with essay style tests, you have to reassess what you are doing in college. His reviews spell out the areas you will be tested on so if you have paid attention in class they aren't difficult.
2 tests, 1 quiz. Doesn't keep you the entire class. Usually lets you out 1 hour early for a 3 hour class.
He's very clear and informative about what he is hoping his students get out of his course. He starts every class with a deep breath and a smile, which is kind of refreshing as silly as it sounds. You do cover the big religions but you concentrate on Islam and Prof. Rabil's book regarding a specific branch of Islam, Salafism.
please take him he is care about his student he encourage and help you has 2 test test have a review Q come from review he is nice and big heart he dont want you to fail i will take him again
Professor Rabil is the best professor at FAU. He is extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic charismatic teacher. I learned so much about the most complex history of the Middleast. Highly recommend him; it's never a dull moment.
Professor Rabil knows his stuff and is really passionate. His exams are not multiple choice. 1 essay written out response and 7 small description type fill in the blanks for key concepts. He gives no study guide so you have to review everything. You really have to put in the work to receive a good grade. He lectures the whole class time.
Your grade is basically a midterm, quiz (very easy), final exam, and attendance. The midterm and final are short (around 7-8 questions) but he makes you study so much material. Personally, I think he's okay but I could see why so many like him so much.
Dr. Rabil is one of the most AMAZING professors I have ever had at FAU! He is EXTREMELY brilliant, dedicated and full of knowledge. FAU needs more professors with his credentials. His classes consist of fun and engaging lectures. You need to attend class, as he takes attendance. You will learn so much and the exams are not difficult!
Dr. Rabil is one of the most AMAZING professors I have ever had at FAU! I can't stress it enough how much he has taught me throughout my undergraduate career at FAU. I am more knowledgable on political subjects because of him and his classes. The material is so interesting and the exams are easy as long as you pay attention and come to class!
One of the best professors at FAU. If you google him, you will see right away. He got his master's at HARVARD and is extremely brilliant. Full of knowledge and wisdom, his lectures are NOT boring- they make you think and engage. Attendance is a MUST, but as long as you come to class you will do fine. He gives you resources in order to succeed!
Robert Rabil is an exceptional professor who combines fascinating lectures with his own real-world experience. He expects you to work for a grade and provides all the means for you to achieve it. I've also taken him in Middle Eastern Politics, both experiences were exceptional.
Dr Rabil is very passionate about what he teaches. He tends to keep you almost until the end. His exams are all written out. You have to remember a lot so you do good on the exam. He is very fair but you need to put in the work. If he sees that you try he will work with you. If don't want a class u have to put in some work then stay away. Great!
Dr. Rabil is the true star of Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Rabil's ability to deliver a captivating and inspirational lecture is bar none. The only characteristics that rival Dr. Rabil's expertise of Middle Eastern Politics are his endearing charm and infectious smile. You will feel proud, enlightened, and inspired after leaving Rabils class.
Dr. Rabil is an incredible professor. I took him for World Religion and Politics and Comparative Ethnic Conflicts. His lectures are incredibly engaging and he is hilarious. I did not need to buy any textbooks and he puts all of his powerpoints online. If you just show up and listen, the final exam and midterms are very easy. They're simple recall.
I would highly recommend all Poli Sci Majors take at least one of Dr. Rabil Courses. The professor has excellent care in making sure you learn while in his class. The first-hand knowledge he has on the subject matter is second to none. Dr. Rabil makes you feel welcome, and you will not want to leave the class once it starts to go ahead and sign up.
Professor Rabil is a fantastic professional. He is knowledgeable desires that his students receive A's in his course. He is a subject matter expert in the Middle East, so any questions that you have, do not hesitate to ask. I took World Religions, Comparative Politics ME and Ethnic Conflicts, which I received A's. Take him and you won't regret it!
This is an incredible class to take if you want to begin learning about the Middle East. Dr. Rabil really cares about the history and people behind the conflicts discussed which helps create a clearer and more well rounded view of the region. Grades are few but Dr. Rabil is clear in his directions, generous in his review, and fair with his grading.
Dr. Rabil does a great job at illustrating the history and motives behind each conflict he describes and he makes them easy to remember with anecdotes and memorable stories. READ for the quiz! Reading gives you an edge in this class but Dr. Rabil gives such detailed lectures that you get more than enough information with that alone.
After taking 3 courses with Dr. Rabil, it is evident that he has a passion for what he teaches. Every class Dr. Rabil is full of energy, which allows for an in depth engaging lecture. Coming to class and taking notes are the key to being successful in his classes. I would definitely recommend taking a course with Professor Rabil.
Dr. Rabil is the most informed, caring, and energetic professor that the Political Science Department at FAU has to offer. He is a star and should be on television reporting on Middle East affairs. He will listen to your problems and offers office hours also. Course is based on midterm, final, and final paper, take good notes and you will get an A!
Dr. Rabil was the first class I took through dual enrollment. He was really nice and CPO3761 is an easy A as long as you show up to lectures and listen to his final and midterm review. One quiz on a chapter of a book, didn't read but still got a B in the class
Amazing
Honestly just make him don't even think about it. You will never have a best or easier teacher than him. He would post one discussion like every week and a half on 1 question and that's it. We would have a quiz here and there and the final. Class is super entertaining and he truly cares about his students super understanding loves this guy.
Professor Rabil was outstanding. He's very invested in his class and is very interested in having everyone engaged in the material. He's a gentleman and expects everyone to be respectful, read your syllabus and show up to class and you will do great. I would take him again in a heartbeat!
Dr. Rabil always goes above and beyond in his lectures and is one of the best professors I have taken at FAU. He is very passionate about his lectures, very knowledged with accurate information. Very fair, I have taken him two going on three semesters. If you have the chance to take Professor Rabil do not hesitate!
Dr. Rabil is one of my favorite professors I have ever taken, if not my favorite. His lectures are very easy to follow and attendance is 20% of the grade, but he makes coming to class enjoyable. As long as you take some notes and pay decent attention, it will be the easiest A you've ever received. He also cares about his students. Take him!
Professor Rabil is extremely knowledgeable about world politics an religion. He's a published author and has a real passion for the subject. He's invested in student participation because he wants all his students to come away with real life knowledge. He's fantastic.
Horrible, do not take him.
Professor Rabil is very straightforward with the lectures. He reviews material before midterm and final. He really puts himself out there to ensure you understand the material and if you need any extra help. Every assignment and lecture were very clear, no confusion. Would definitely take again.
Great Professor! very knowledgeable on the topic; Religion and World Politics. He does talk fast, but is happy to answer any questions you may have. He does have a strong accent, but once you attend one or two lectures, you can understand better. Read the material...Lots of material gets covered, but honestly, he does give you the main points.
Honestly one of the best professors I have had. He makes classes engaging and cares about his students. He would not let anyone fail unless they truly were trying to fail. He offers a lot of extra credit for attending online and in person lectures. He doesn't grade a lot of assignments and the few assignments are easy.
You can tell he's passionate about the coursework and subjects that are discussed, always refreshing to see that in a professor. If you pay attention, you should do good on the assignments and exams. I walked away from this class with a new perspective on the Middle East.
Professor Rabil is by far the best professor I've had. I've taken 5 of his undergrad courses and gotten A's each time.Just take any of his classes. Show up do the work you get an A!
Honestly I've had his wife too before himself and they're both really amazing professors. The best. Dr Rabil is amazing, he's knowledgeable about the Middle East and religions. I enjoyed just sitting in his class and listening to him. He says the truth, if you don't like to hear it, don't take him. But if you ever have the opportunity. Do!
