He's SO EASY and entertained. If you can't get an A in his class, then there is no way that you can get an A in other classes. Toward the end of the semester, he also gives you a chunk of extra credit points.

great class and prof. he was gone for 2 weeks straight because he was sick and we missed a test during that time. he came back and gave us the test as a joke and gave us all A's for it.

Great course! I hate history but his class was the best! I liked the movies that he let us watch for extra credit! I never thought I could get an "A" in history, but I did. Study lecture notes and you are on your way to get an A!

The most organized teacher I have ever taken. His notes are very easy to write down. He will let you know what's on the test. Most teacher on this campus are not as organized as he is. Hands down, he the best teacher I have ever taken on campus.

Funniest teacher on campus, Tests come from lecture and study guide. With all the extra credit, this class is an easy A, lots of movies, and no homework!!! Only buy the book if you care about two questions on each test.

Very amusing. Left-of-center politically but nothing objectionable. The textbook twists the facts to suit its liberal slant; check other sources to verify what the book is saying. Challenging but fair.

Overall a very solid teacher. He is very comical, yet some of his jokes have a liberal views, and if easily offended don't take the class. If you have a good sense of humor you will enjoy his class and his corny one liners. Would recommend for anyone that either loves or hates history.

this class is awesome. he makes presents the material so clearly, and makes it SO easy to understand and remember. you watch a lot of movies and take a lot of notes. i never missed a class, he's so funny! Do the extra credit and read the study guide and you'll get an A, no problem!

EASY. Going to the extra credit assignments (baseball games , basketball games, etc) WILL make or break your grade in the class.. he's funny.. very very funny.. he'll ridicule you.. make jokes about your hair.. and pick on you if you're late.. but it's all out of good humor.. oh yeah.. there are alot of movies.. enjoyable and EASY class!

So funny!!!Love the teacher. Take notes and memorize the study guide and you will get an A. Also make sure you get insurance (go to school sport games) they're worth it. I recieved 85 extra credit points and the points were out of 500. Very helpful too. Highly recomended.

Coolest teacher I have ever had. The guys hilarious, good teacher, cracks jokes non-stop, always in a good mood. I wish Coast had more teachers like this guy.

Fair guy. Corny jokes but it keeps you awake. Unrelated info too. After taking all notes you highlight what to study for test. Study guide was key and very little book questions on test. I took it as a summer course, we must have watched 1-2 hours a day of history related movies, extremely easy for a summer course.

BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!

I forget which history I took with him. He use to be really FAT now's he's pretty thin. But anyways, yea he's very good!! Take him! You won't be dissapointed. Very funny guy and is a nice guy overall. He wants you to pass the class and will help you. The only thing I didn't like was he didn't give me an A. I was only 4 pts away from an A and I ended up with a B...I wish then that OCC had the plus/mins system like most 4 yr colleges do.

oh my, what a class. he is sooo easy. gives like 100 pnts extra credit!! no homework, a movie everyday, funny lectures, easy going and makes class fun! take his class! If you are a USC fan or a sports fanatic you will get an A!!

Professor Raya is fantastic. He takes care of his students (grades wise) if you are willing to go the extra mile and show up to extracurricular activities like sports events at school. There is plenty of extra credit if you don't like to study much. The best way for an A is to do the extra credit and then cram a little 20 minutes before exams.

Raya is by far the best teacher at OCC he is not a BORING teacher cares about teaching & students. He gives extra credit for attending sports events to get you involved in more than just taking a class at OCC. Pay attention & study, 20 to 30 people wait at the door the first day of class waiting, so if your not serious, give your seat to them.

I love his class!! Look at the map on the back of the study guide, read the short stories of each chapter and also those questions in the study guide, then you should be fine!!! If you want to pass with high grade (A or B) attend his extra credits!!!!

Professor Raya is THE MAN. This man is a Huge USC fan, so if your a crasher email him and tell him that you are a season ticket holder and compliment him on his Trojans! He is funny and class was fun! He loves his OCC sports too so attend Extra Credit..it will pay off in the end (Like a full letter grade). My advice is get baked and enjoy class!!

One of the best teachers I've ever had! I never wanted to miss his class, EVER. His jokes are hilarious and he makes history really interesting. Go to all the extra credit football/basketball games, it can raise your grade a full letter. Tests are somewhat easy, mostly from the lecture notes and the study guide. TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Totally funny! Lots lots of extra credit! Make sure when you take this class you are available nights because of the e.c. I had work all Sat. nights so I couldn't go to the fb games for e.c. That sucked... but go if you have nights open away from work... Raya is the best!

Prof. Raya is friekin awesome. Hist 170 is so easy with him, the tests are mostly the study guide questions, and the lecture is super entertaining and easy! I think in the whole class we wrote like 20 pages of notes and i got an A. But it will be harder to get an A if you don't go to the extra credit stuff! Go to them, and this class is easy

Raya Rocks! He is a funny guy, and tells about History in a funny way. He showed good movies and it is not hard to pass the class, even if you do bad in the class there are tons of oppurtunity for extra credit. He is a great guy take him!

LOVED THE CLASS. Lectures are a lot of fun, we watched a lot of interesting movies, exams are multiple choice and very easy. He even gives a breadown of the exams and he gives a lot of extra credit points for attending OCC sports events. He was very fun, has a gret sense of humor, and made learning U.S. History a blast!

Best teacher! For all class meeting, we take notes for about 40 minutes, the rest we just watch movie. Tons of xtra credit by just going to OCC games. No hw. Tests are fairly. Curve grades. The class is super fun. He makes history interesting. Definitely a must-take class!

Raya really loves teaching and its fun to have a teacher who likes his job. There is no HW and tests are super easy he basically tells you everything you need to know the day before. He wants all his students to succeed and tries to make a connection with everyone. Yake him for history!

By far, the best prof at OCC! I waited 3 semesters to get into his class. He is funny and very willing to help. His tests are kind of difficult but the Q's are mostly straight from the study guide. LOTS of XC for going to games. Very passionate about teaching and loves college kids. He does play favorites so speak up- once he knows you, you are in.

Professor Raya is the best professor at OCC. I had so much fun in his class that I wish I could take another history class. He makes each and every class enjoyable and as long as you put in the time to study the "study guide' booklet, as well as his lecture notes then you will for sure get an A.

He's very funny and makes clear what's on the test while giving lecture. He tells you to copy his notes and he highlights the ones that are going to be on the test. LITERALLY!! Make sure to go to the OCC games for extra credit. His two classes were the most fun ever I've had at OCC. Take him for history 170 and 179. You won't regret it. :)

grading based on 3exams 100pts ea, 1final 200 pts. his questions are divided between study guide, his notes, and short stories from the book. test averages would be like a C very little A grades for the tests. He does give a lot of Extra credit (games, attendance, movies) Fun guy, great at teaching history makes the subject interesting.

He's the best. I took him last year, and I'm taking him again this year. He's really fun and laid back. His class is straight forward. He gives a breakdown before each test of what will be on it.(Like 2 questions from the movie, 18 from the lecture, and 20 from the books study guide) Just take him, you wont regret it.

Professor Raya is AMAZING! His lectures are more like super interesting stories! Before the test he will tell you what to highlight on your notes and that's what you'll need to study. His extra credit is attending sport events (you don't have to write any papers for it)! His movies are interesting. Best history teacher EVER! Take him! I got an A!
