Great teacher. He makes the classes fun, but not to the point where you lose focus. Very helpful, responds to emails VERY FAST. Marking was very fair, my only complaint is I HATE FILL IN THE BLANKS. But that could be different for other courses.

The best prof I have ever had. He is funny so he makes class interesting. The course is interesting. Definitely a prof I would recommend to anyone thinking of taking his class.

Riordan is one of the bet profs in the school of business. He is a fair marker, but the time limits for tests and presentations were way too short but the group work and projects made up for it, everyone did well. Lots of work but good class.

The best prof ever. Did a great job at making the course interesting. His class was the only class I never missed :) Definately recommend taking a class with him.

Umm, this prof is simply hilarious, really funny, don't ever miss his class tho, every class counts, even some guest speakers presentation, if u read the textbook, u'll get an easy A+, really kool prof, absolutely i recommend him to anyone.

This guy is amazing. The ratings don't lie. He is funny, he explains material VERY well, and hes just a nice guy. And, did I mention that the guy is hilarious? Thanks Rob!!!

He is really good. He makes class a lot of fun. The tests are tough but do able. He is one of Carleton's best teachers. I learned a lot from him.

Wondering what courses to take next year??? Take any course that Rob's teaching and you'll actually enjoy it -- guaranteed -- which is pretty amazing given that he's from Oshawa and all :).....

Simply AWESOME! The reason I'm transfering to Sprott. Makes learning fun, the way it should be. Not dry, hilarious guy, doesn't take anything personally. Loves to teach, and you can tell by the amount of time he puts into this class. The class material is all memory work, but he makes everything worth while. A choice I'll never regret. Thanks Rob!

Greatest prof ever... I had him first year, then rearranged my schedule second year so I could be in his class. He makes class interesting, is creative, and really cares about the students (he actually does respond to emails within minutes). Tests are tough though, but it's pretty easy to learn the stuff because he makes it fun...

Funny guy...makes a 3 hour lecture feel like only 1 hour. Tests are hard, but not impossible. Lectures have very little to do with the material being tested, buy the textbook!

Many profs could learn a thing or two from Rob. Easy going, experienced, and makes learning fun. One of the few classes i ejoyed while at the "great" Carleton.

this guys awesome, i doubt id go to computer classes if i had a different prof. the class is him going on one ongoing joke pretty much. teaches a tricky course but he makes it worth it. get rob if you can.

I absolutely loved him....I have him for a class @ 8:30 and he makes it worthwhile to go! So funny! This course has the potential to be a boring one, but I guarantee that if you have Rob, each lecture will hold something new (and I don't mean the notes)...it helps that he has a sense of humour too!

This class is a lot of work but he is a really good teacher. He keeps it interesting and is available for help whenever. He is a tough marker but you cant avoid him even if you are in the other class because he marks access. A funny guy that made 8:30 on Monday mornings enjoyable!

Awesome prof! Hilarious! makes class interesting with his jokes and comments. His midterms aren't too bad. The course in general is quite time consuming due to all the damn assignments and projects.

AMAZING professor. Tests are tricky, but it is so easy to get a good mark in the class if you just follow instructions. He tells you exactly what he wants and the assignments and exam are easy. Funniest guy and probably the best prof at Carleton. I would take any class with him, and I don't even particularly like the subject.

Didn't really like the class..alot alot of work. He does not provide any insight to any tests or exams- they can be quite difficult. He just reads word for word off the slides, class isn't very useful. Outside of class he does seem pretty knowledgeable though...

Incredible teacher. Not only is he knowledgeable, he is charismatic and engaging. Read his slides, enjoy his class and you can EASILY get an A...I never opened the textbook and studied the night before and did quite alright! I HIGHLY recommend Robert Riordan.

You can tell this man is passionate about his students and lecture material. If you see a course he is teaching...TAKE IT! Just be sure you are prepared and ready for class :)

I LOVED this class! Rob's passion for not only the course but for his students can be seen both in class and out of class. If you can, really try to be in his class because he is AMAZING!

I love this prof!! Rob is such an engaging, charismatic, intelligent, AMAZING professor... anyone in his class is lucky to have him! I spent half the time in his class just laughing at the funny jokes he makes. Anyway, because of him and his class, I switched my major to information systems. He's THAT GOOD.

IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION CHOOSE HIM! He is one of those professors who loves to teach, he is devoted to his students. Gives alot of opportunities for extra marks, Thinking about taking more IS courses just to have him again!

Amazing prof, with 2 things to note. There's a lot of group work (but the actual assignments are really easy) and he has a pretty dumb test marking scheme (He will only mark your first X points, and ignore any other writing per question) Otherwise, clear in class, extremely funny, and overall amazing prof.

Was in the first ever 1800 class. A lot of logistic issues and issues with the course itself, but Rob never took it out on us. Gave lots of feedback, lots of opportunities for grades, and fair tests. Can start to rush towards the end of the class, (3 hour lectures) but he's good at keeping students attention. Would recommend without a doubt.

Honestly my favourite prof! I can't say enough good things about him! If you get a chance to be in his class, do it! He's even worth waking up for an 8.30 class! He makes class as fun and as interesting as class can get. He is really good at explaining the material and he is always available if you need extra help! He uses the text book so buy it.

If ur willing to work for an A, this is the class to be in. this guy honestly makes u better just by being in his class. he makes u think about the material in a new way and he makes u a better presenter/speaker. if ur looking to be a better student, take this guys class, ull hate him while ur in the class but ull thank him a year or two later

Absolutely amazing professor, easily the best one I have had at Carleton. Literally can keep you engaged for a full 3 hour period, no matter how dull the material is. Very nice guy, extremely funny and down to earth, and really knows the material very well and this tranlates amazingly into teaching. Easy class to get an A if you simply do the work!

HARD EXAMS. But that's it. He's not a regular Prof. He's like BadAzz personality like Terminator. He's super fun and loves CREATIVITY. So don't be shy and be opened with your imagination. He hates following the rules, you need to be fun! If you are you will enjoy this course.

Great Prof. There are a lot of easy marks in this course. Mutiple choice on the tests rely heavily on the text book. Easy enough to get an A- or higher with a little effort.

One of favourite professors. His classes are very entertaining and one of the few professors that I've never slept in class. His assignments are easy but his tests are difficult, yet fair. You can see he cares about teaching and will try his best to help you professionally. Will take him again!

Rob is an engaging and interesting prof who makes dull material more exciting. He regularly tells jokes and make the entire lecture more fun. The class itself is difficult because of the breadth of material, but certainly worth doing while Rob as your prof!

The material in this class is dull, but rob makes the class enjoyable to be in. Dont get scared if your tests marks are low, the countless little assignments throughout the course bring your average up.

The class itself is torture but Rob does a great job. Tests are hard, assignments are easy and all he wants from students is attendance. He is definitely meant to be a professor- he is very relaxed and creates a good classroom environment.

He's interesting, tries to be a comedian, but keeps it fun. Textbook is MANDATORY as he tests small details and will have full questions on things never talked about in class. He does tell you this up front however, so you shouldn't be surprised. Good guy, decent prof, and assignments are where you will get your marks. Will rush at the end of class

Rob is a great prof. He's a little scary, but a nice guy. If you can keep up with the class, his focus is on teaching you skills that will help in real life, not just for the tests.

Great guy! Makes the class interesting by cracking some fun jokes here and there. He's pretty much developed the course's structure himself so he is very passionate about how it is taught. Has a lot of deliverables but its all achievable.

A good professor, if you don't want to learn the material. Took an intro to information systems, and the textbook is discussed for about an hour every lecture. The rest is teaching us how to present, which while valuable is hardly relevant. Seems like everything in this course is catered to preparing you for his "superior case program"

I've never seen a prof care this much. He organized the course so we are always on our toes. It stressful but exciting. He applies material to current tech advances that are thought provoking. Not to mention - he's hilarious. Stand up comedy. Classes are interesting and funny.

Assignment criteria is hard to understand at first, so read every detail. His excellence scale, which grades in in-class presentations, made it tough to get a good grade if the presentations were strong in a particular week. The Dynamic Excel assignment wasn't bad, and the EEP was fun. I wish he'd split from all the group work.

He always pushes you to think through what is your creativity. First hour class always useless however the second half about presentation really helpful to make you more creative. If you want to get good grade, read book in detail and think differently. Difference makes you stand out.

Can't stress how great this prof is. Very out of the box thinking for most of his assignments and course material. If you are or are not a creative person this prof will boost your creativity in all kinds. Very interesting and extremely engaging style of teaching. Quite the humorous friendly guy as well !

Hard but fair, maybe consider easier prof for course

Great professor who is very interested in the topic! Always an entertain class but be prepared to participate. Also a lot of group work.

Class is very intense in the first half, with 5-6 lengthy lectures covering a huge range of material. The second half is all case study presentations in groups, so you actually get a chance to apply what you learned in the first half. Well worth taking if you are interested in participating in case study events or working as a consultant.

Great Prof, very funny while lecturing. Definitely a serious course, but he always made it interesting and fun to learn.

Make sure you never fall behind in this class. If you keep up with the material week-to-week, you shouldn't find it too challenging. Rob Riordan is a genuinely nice man and a highly respected instructor so listen to his advice, even if it doesn't pertain to the course. He wants his students to succeed in life, taking his course felt very rewarding.

Rob is awesome. Layout of course is group work and participation HEAVY. I understand what he is trying to do, but not taken well by other students that are not in the IS concentration. It's a mandatory intro class and this style isn't the most fun with 4 other courses. It's a lot of stress. Sooooo much to read. Needs sparks notes or something...

Great prof, very funny and a good lecturer. A lot of little fairly meaningless assignments and a weird format for the midterm. I would still recommend this class, very interesting material and forces you to get out of your shell and present. Never a dull moment in this class for sure.

By far the best course ive taken in university! its not an easy course but the prof is super funny and genuinely cares about his students. This is a must take and a resume booster

Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had, really funny and he genuinely cares about his students. I loved the way the classes are structured it really engaged me and help me learn, there's a lot of work to do but i wouldn't say it's difficult it just requires a lot of reading.

Love Rob and love this class. There are a lot of things going on in this course but he lays it out well and makes it hard to miss things. Very creative setup and a fun environment. The class is online next year so Idk how it will go but I know he'll make it great, gonna miss him!

Robert was an amazing professor. I really enjoyed his class even though I did not enjoy the course content. Textbook is written by him and is online (free) but it needs to be edited and fixed up. Participation and class attendance is a must. Lots of small assignments and activities but he makes the class engaging and enjoyable. AMAZING DUDE!!!

This class really challenged me and pushed me outside of my comfort zone but I loved the prof. Makes jokes, knows his stuff and really wants you to learn and succeed. Lots of group work, need to read the textbook to do well. Every week there's a possibility for you to present with your assigned group, and about 2 things to do a week but loved it.

Robert Riordan is such a nice guy. The course in its self is a lot, as there are crew challenges, online class quizzes, and assignments. But, he makes you work hard. Unfortunately, he is retiring this year, but I wish him all the best. Love ya Rob

I was in one of the last classes he taught. Complex course with a lot of group work and assignments, but he has a great sense of humour and applies topics to real life situations. I would take one of his courses again!

I seriously enjoyed every second of this class, Robert taught it well and he made sure we understand this course really well, whoever is taking this course in winter just get ready to do a lot of group works, assignments and quizzes. overall ill miss Robert and I would love to take a course with him again.

Rob is an amazing professor! He really cares if you do well. The classes were super interesting! I would definitely recommend taking a course taught by Rob before he retires at the end of the winter term! Really sad to see him retire as he is one of the best professor's I have had.

What an amazing prof! He pushed you in his class but it's worth it. The skills you learn in his class go way beyond school. You cannot skip class and expect to do well. Whilst his class was challenging, it is probably the greatest class I've ever taken. He is staying one more semester I believe, so take him if you can. You wouldn't want to miss out

The course has a lot of content to it. Which means you need to keep on top of your deadlines. Always read the textbook before each lecture as there is a quiz for it each week. Try your best to get along with the group members as there are presentations each week and 2 group projects at the end

Ive never met a professor who is so focused on wanting to see his students succeed. Although he makes you work hard for a good grade, he will give you the materials you need to achieve. Great lecturer. I wish all profs were like Rob.

Good professor. Helps you with stuff that's course-related and stuff that's outside of the class. Gives good life lessons and advices. Helps you understand the class contents in a friendly opening class environment. Overall the professor was like an older version of Wayne Horn, but the class content is like drinking from a fire hydrant. GLHF LOL

This course is really something special, but definitely a large workload. Make sure you get along with your teammates because there's so many presentations and 2 large assignments at the end of the semester that you have to do together. Robert is a funny, well respected and helpful professor.

The best prof I've had at Sprott. This class has been one of the most demanding classes, but only because he wants you to work for the grade you want to get. We're the last class he taught before retiring, so I'm sad that the others won't have him as a prof. Can't get any better with Robert. Cheers to your retirement! We're truly thankful.

one of the better professors i have taken at UWGB. course workload isnt huge but the content isnt underwhelming either. decent, hand made course content. to ace the class, expect to study for about two hours a week. i recommend the class highly
